Ajahn Siripanno
(By Tsem Rinpoche)
(Ajahn Siripanno gives an enthralling Dhamma talk on the timeless teachings of Ajahn Chah. The talk was given at the Ajahn Chah Remembrance Day on 16 January 2010 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.~by sampajanna )
I was forwarded this video of Ajahn Siripanno by a friend and watched. I liked it very much. I like very much how Ajan Siripanno explained the teachings, effects on others to commit, personality and methods of conveying dharma of his teacher the great Ajan Chah.
I’ve never seen or met Ajan Siripanno, but through this video I am so very glad he took ordination, studied, teaches and practices Dharma. May it continue strongly. You can see Ajan Siripanno was destined to follow this path due to the ripening of positive merits.
Through his explanation of his encounter with his teacher although brief and afterwards the effects, he weaves the dharma into the talk. Very skilfull, very beautiful and filled with truth. His teacher through great practice is able to bless and inspire so many others into committing towards dharma. I rejoice.
I highly recommend everyone to watch these videos and contemplate. I personally wish Ajahn Siripanno a long life of practice and elucidating the Dharma. I pray Ajahn Siripanno will teach the dharma and reach many during his lifetime bringing their minds to rest in the forest of Nirvana. May Ajahn Siripanno’s dharma works flourish due to great compassion for others.

This world needs education about psychology not charity.the man need wisdom.
Ajahn Siripanyo, the son of billionaire Ananda Krishnan, chose to abandon his inheritance and become a Buddhist monk in pursuit of spirituality. A Thai-Malaysian monk born in London and educated in UK. He was ordained in Thailand and lived there, leaving behind a life of immense wealth and privilege. He did surprised many and his choice was unexpected. Initially as a temporary measure, but somehow later evolved into a permanent way of life. Ven. Ajahn Siripanyo is now the Abbot of hermitage Dtao Dam on the Thai-Burmese border in Saiyok National Park, Thailand.
He was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia years back giving an enthralling Dhamma talk on the timeless teachings of Ajahn Chah.
Thank you Rinpoche for this inspiring sharing.

bro, Buddhists don’t believe in God
The Thai-Malaysian monk Ven Ajahn Siripanyo, born in London and educated in UK is the only son of Malaysian billionaire left everything to become a monk. He was ordained in Thailand and lived there as a Thai forest monk. He dedicates his life to spiritual servitude, leaving behind a world of riches. He found his spiritual path in Buddhism at age 18 years. To date he has given numerous rather timeless dharma teachings out of compassion for the benefits of others. Interesting read and great teachings been explained and methods of conveying dharma of his teacher the great Ajan Chah.
Thank you Rinpoche for this inspiring sharing.

I am truly amazed by and admire Ven. Ajahn Siripanno. He is a picture of serenity and beatitude. His voice, so soothing and calming. He is so young, yet speaks with such articulation and wisdom, doubtlessly from a mind that has practiced for many lifetimes.
He had everything material he could have asked for, yet saw futility in being attached to worldly possessions that is ultimately impermanent. Most people who have tasted the good life will find it very difficult to let go. But at a tender age of 18, meeting his Guru blessed and touched him so deeply, triggering a spiritual awakening that changed the course of his life.
He reminds me so much of two extraordinary beings, Siddhartha Gautama and my Guru, H. E. 25th Tsem Tulku Rinpoche. Like Price Siddhartha, he left the trappings of a privileged life to seek the truth. Like H.E. Tsem Rinpoche, he was educated in the West, speaks fluent English and has a flair for teaching. Like both of them, he dedicated his life to dharma out of compassion for others.
We are so blessed that Buddhism has now another dharma teacher who is fluent in English, who understands the Western mindset and who will be able to reach out to people in English speaking societies. We definitely need more.
I pray that Ven. Ajahn Siripanno will teach more, inspire and gather many disciples, that his teachings will be recorded and made available online globally and that he will inspire many to do likewise in pursuit of a life of dharma study and practice.

Thanks for the sharing Rinpoche, Ajahn could easily inherit his father’s wealth but he choose the spiritual path that i think almost everyone would not do.
I am uncle to Ajahn Siripanno and am cousin to Ajahn’s dad. I was married to a Thai but my marriage broke and I took my path to be a monk. My teacher was Ajahn Chah but I never got to know Ajahn Siripanno was my nephew until Gopal and Maya told me that they could not find Ajahn Siripanno after he left his house. Ajahn Siripanno please contact me I would like to meet you. I am now in the United States teaching Meditation and am looking forward to have a Meditation Center here to teach Dhamma to the westerners.

bro when did Ven Ajahn Siripanyo did charity? I understand your desparation but you are asking in a wrong place
I really have a lot of respect for the Forest monk tradition and I have read some of Ajahn Chah’s books and he seem to use everything, nature, surrounding, actual events to teach the people around them, his students etc etc. May their buddhist tradition remain long for the benefit of sentient beings.
Very simple and yet deep Dharma talk. Ajahn Siripanno talk form His own realization which to me is very real. He is practicing Guru Devotion very well. Thus, because of believing in his Guru, he is patient, and gain some realization.
Ajahn Siripanno is truly the embodiment of the Principle of renunciation. Not only is his whole life given to Dharma a teaching in itself, his sharing of teachings of his teacher the great Ajahn Chah is also presented in a powerfully effective way, showing him to be a great Dharma teacher. I think his best teaching in the first of the three presented is the last part of the first video, where he clearly illustrates from a very humble and sincere point of view, how Ajahn Chah was actually manifesting a mind that had already attained inner peace in the midst of great physical suffering.
I really love listening to Ajahn Siripanno’s teachings. This is all so new to me … to discover and I’d like to learn more from you A.S. Please share some more soon.
With sincere greetings from Iceland 🙂

A very inspiring watch! And I really mean it: inspiring!
I can see the similarities between Rinpoche and Ajahn Chah – they both walk, live and eat dharma, they love their students, care & nurture them like mother+father and they will be wrathful when the situations demand it to send home a particular teaching.
Only selfless people can do that.
I love this. It strikes me on so many levels – that Ajahn Siripanno is not much older than me and has gone so far with his spiritual practice; that he is so real about his experiences, his initial doubts and questions but still pursued the path and came to this level; that he has so much devotion in the lineage, in a teacher who he hardly had the chance to be with.
So many of my peers chase relationships and career; they wonder why I choose to pursue a career in Dharma when I am apparently so “highly qualified”. There is that notion that relationships, marriage, career, children will be happiness – we all grow up with this crazy paradigm, don’t we?
To just watch this young monk for 15 minutes is enough to convince me that there is so much more peace and happiness and clarity to be found in a spiritual path. The happiest, kindest, strongest most peaceful and tenacious people I have met in my life are all ordained sangha, or people on a spiritual path. The results are proof enough that the material paradigms we have been brought up with are not quite what they’re cut out to be.
Lastly, and most importantly, this teaching makes me love my own dearest teacher all the more and to feel in my heart so much more gratitude for being able to sit at his feet, hear his stories and see all of his strictness and warmth all at once. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else and I hope some day in the future, by my own example and practice, I may be able to inspire someone else out there to seek out their own teachers and wholly love them.
A very profound and easy to understand dharma talk by Ajahn Siripanno, very inspiring and may the dharma flourish through Ajahn Siripanno to benefit all sentient beings.
“..do we dare to challenge ourselves ..” Ajahn Siripanno
Ajahn Siripanno sure does bring this statement to a whole new level for samsaric beings like us..a young, good looking, intelligent man who potentially can inherit multibillions chose to live a simple life…
I am so proud of Tan Sri Ananda Krishnan & Ajahn Siripanno, two VERY SUCCESSFUL MEN!
Tan Sri Ananda Krishnan shows the whole world what a self made man from humble beginnings can achieve. It is said that the generation which comes after should be even more successful then the previous. Ajahn Siripanno shows us where we can find riches beyond the billions he could have had. He found it in a monastery, not in a corporation.
Something to think about… Do we dare to challenge ourselves to think out of the box, to see beyond the walls society has erected for us?
Dear Pastor Susan,
How you analyzed Tan Sri Ananda Krishnan and Ajahn Siripanno was very true. The father gained his billions outer wealth from nothing and the son gained his highest level of wealth that number cannot count, that is inner wealth.
Ajahn Siripanno was born like a prince but he chose to walk his spiritual path to benefit countless people just like Lord Buddha. He is the most precious gem in the world that Tan Sri could ever have.
Tan SriAnandakrishna gained wealth for the worlds living and his son gained wealth of spiritual path.which would give peace beyond anything.
“Dedicating ourselves to the triple Gems is a very worthy thing to do.”
Very true. I liked the way He gave the Dharma talk about His Guru, His respect, impermanence, Buddha, Guru devotion and everything else.
Putting the skeleton and the unborn baby makes us contemplate on impermanence, one of the foundation of Buddha’s beautiful and logical teachings.
A wonderful reminder of the profound dharma teachings by Ajahn Siripanno, who could have all the material comforts and possessions from his family fortune but chose dharma instead.
I like the way Ajahn Siripanno’s discourse of the Timeless Teachings of Ajahn Chah. His discourse give rise to much serenity in my mind and opens up many important points for contemplations, one of which is death and impermanent. And especially when he visit Ajahn Chah, what he saw was his teacher going through much sickness and afterwhich he gain realisation of this incident. It’s true what Lord Buddha had taught ~ birth, old age, sickness and death. The truth of being a human which is unavoidable…
“It’s true what Lord Buddha had taught ~ birth, old age, sickness and death. The truth of being a human which is unavoidable…”
As if no man knows about that ???? Even a fool would know that !
Thank you very much Rinpoche. Ajahn Brahm’s talks and his guru Ajahn Chah’s books were extremely helpful when I began studying Buddhism. I will be listening to this.
