Lama Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche on Guru Devotion |

Dear friends around the world,
The erudite master, teacher, scholar and compassionate spiritual friend Jetsun Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche is one of the greatest teachers in Tibet today. He is learned, very practiced and commands thousands of people to his teachings. He is a highly sought after teacher and requested to travel all over Tibet and China to give teachings. His teachings are direct, practical, to the point and this master does not believe in kowtowing to name, position, wealth, status or people sitting on high thrones. He is very practical in that one should be very devoted to one’s guru no matter what. He feels today many people chase after lamas who sit on high thrones, with big titles and big estates and forget the heart of the practice. The heart of the practice is not whether your guru is famous or not, but if your guru has given you precious teachings that help control your mind and if that is the case, you should be devoted to them loyally. No other teacher, no matter how high ranking should take you away from your teacher or should be allowed to create doubt in your teacher. After all your spiritual attainments and elevating the mind to higher levels only depends on your devotion and clean samaya to your teacher whether he is a simple monk or a high ranking teacher. Your attainments depends on your loyalty, samaya and devotion to your teacher and not rank.
Jetsun Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche has taught tens and thousands of his disciples in Tibet that one should have strong guru devotion to one’s guru. This is the pith of Mahayana and Vajrayana teachings. Going against one’s guru will invite much negative karma as in the 50 verses of Guru devotion. Do not follow a guru because they are high ranking or famous. In your mind, the advice of a famous lama should never override the advice from your personal lama. Do not abandon that practice given to you by your teacher even if another famous teacher tells you it’s wrong. You should not listen to any teacher because they are famous or for any other reason, but you should follow your own teacher sincerely from your heart and from this, many attainments will grow. You should keep your samaya with your teacher clean and never to breach it. You should never entertain or spread or contemplate negative thoughts on one’s guru, but be grateful for the teachings he compassionately gave you. One should never go against one’s guru. Keep that relationship or samaya very clean with your teacher at all costs.
Jetsun Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche follows the traditional and true thought of Buddhism from India and Tibet in which one is to respect one’s teacher no matter happens firmly, follow through the teachings you have received, be grateful and transform the mind. This is the essence of Tsongkapa’s unerring path. This will be the cause for you to gain higher attainments.

We must not forget this kindness. [What constitutes] the so-called “breach of guru devotion”? Does it mean you have to grab the teacher by his collar and slap the teacher on the face [to such a physical level] for it to be considered a breach? It doesn’t necessarily have to be like this. Does it have to be like the public humiliation sessions carried out during Cultural Revolution [where you condemn the teacher]? It doesn’t have to be so harsh like that to be considered a breach. If anyone proclaims that my teacher practices the Protector [Dorje Shugden], and I do not practice it, this is [sufficient to be] considered a breach, and indeed this is already a breach of guru devotion. [A real disciple] should follow in the footsteps of the teacher, never to let even a moment of negative view [of doubting the teacher’s practice] to arise. Never to let even a moment of negative view about the teacher to arise means that we should not have any negative view about the actions of the teacher, we should not have even a single negative view. The moment a negative view arises, it is [sufficient to be] considered a breach of guru devotion. Most people do not understand this concept these days. People like to listen to teachers who have big names, and if the advice comes from a low-profile teacher, even if he was qualified to pass on an authentic oral transmission, nobody cares [because he is not famous]. What is the point of pursuing teachers with fame and big names? The one who can really save you is your root teacher, it has nothing to do with fame at all.
Do not breach the instructions of one’s root teacher. There are huge obstacles if you want to preserve the teachings with pure deeds and views. Why is that so? For example, if there is a precious item in one’s home that will get the attention of thieves and bad guys. Thieves from one’s family and thieves from outside will make plans to steal the item. If you do not guard it well, it is difficult to keep the precious item. If it is something worthless, when you throw it outside, only a dog will come to sniff it, nobody will pay attention it. In the same way, because the auspicious teachings of the Gelug school are likened to precious treasures, for the preservation and growth of the teachings, there will be great obstacles. Human and non-human harm and all types of obstacles. In order to prevent these obstacles, there is a need for a protector of great ability. In the past, the Bodhisattva Manjushri made the great aspiration to become a protector. The Bodhisattva Manjushri was the root teacher of Buddha Shakyamuni. Buddha Shakyamuni became enlightened by his devotion to Manjushri. Thus, it is said that Manjushri is the father of all Buddhas. After Buddha Shakyamuni attained enlightenment, Manjushri manifested as a student of Buddha Shakyamuni. What aspirational vow did he make? He promised and vowed that he would not become enlightened before all sentient beings themselves become fully enlightened.
[Manjushri vowed that] when sentient beings need him as a teacher, he will manifest as a teacher “When they need a meditation deity [yidam], I will manifest as a yidam. When they need a protector, I will manifest as a protector. When they need students, I will manifest as students.” [For example:] one who manifested as a teacher was the famous Je Tsongkhapa, one who manifested as a yidam was Vajrabhairava [Yamantaka], one who manifested as a protector was Kalarupa, as well as Protector Dorje Shugden. There were many manifestations [of Manjushri] as students also. [Manjushri] made such promises. Later on when Tsongkhapa was at Gaden Monastery, the Holder of the Vinaya [Dulzin] Drakpa Gyeltsen [manifestation of Manjushri] again made such an aspiration.

Lama Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche , one great Lama who had fled Tibet during the Cultural Revolution has since continued to uphold the teachings. He is one who worked tirelessly in serving the Buddha Dharma that has him been one of the most influential lamas of today. Dear friends,
Tibet has produced many powerful meditations, rituals and guidelines to help us gain spiritual protection, gain wisdom and higher states of consciousness. In general Tibet has produced many powerful methods for the growth of our spiritual evolution. Dorje Shugden is an angel, a saint, a powerful spiritual protector-warrior who originated 350 years ago when a highly awakened Tibetan Lama fulfilled his vows to become a special being to grant protection, wisdom, material needs, safety when travelling (normal and astral travel) and spiritual awakening. Both the Great 5th Dalai Lama and the current His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama composed short yet effective prayers to invoke upon the power and blessings of this special saint and protector. One can recite either one of the prayers that you feel suits you, anytime or even daily. When you feel a special need for help, you can recite either prayer anytime. When you are feeling down, afraid or just need a blessing, you can recite them. After reciting either invocation, it is good to chant the mantra of Dorje Shugden: Om Benza Wiki Bitana Soha.
You do not have to be a Buddhist or practitioner of any religion to invoke upon the blessings and protection of this special enlightened and awakened angel Dorje Shugden. He helps all without discrimination or bias as he is filled with compassion and love. Divinity has no boundaries, they help all who call upon them.
Enclosed are the prayers in English, Chinese and Tibetan.
May you be safe, protected and blessed.

Divination (‘mo’) Text by Dorje Shugden
This is an important divination (‘mo’) text composed by Dorje Shugden himself. Dorje Shugden took trance of the Choyang Dulzin oracle lama, the senior oracle of Gaden Shartse Monastery, and instantly on the spot composed this text within two hours.
The divination text contains information on how to use dice to do divination for the future and is known to be highly accurate. When practitioners use this text, they will be in direct contact with Dorje Shugden to get answers to questions about the future. It is for those who have good samaya with Dorje Shugden and are free of the eight worldly dharmas to be of benefit to others in divining the future.

For the first time available, Dorje Shugden and his entourage of 32 asssistants of his mandala.
Dorje Shugden is a powerful protector deity who is also an emanation of Manjushri, a wisdom bestowing Buddha. Therefore, he has great ability to help us to progress further on the spiritual path. He does this by helping us to overcome obstacles and problems for the modern individual.
Due to his enlightened nature, Dorje Shugden is able to manifest 32 deities and within the same abode resides Setrap and Kache Marpo:-
1. 5 Dorje Shugden families or emanations. They consists of the following:-
– Dulzin Dorje Shugden, which performs activities to eliminate inner and outer obstacles.
– Shize, which performs activities to pacify all illnesses and disease.
– Gyenze, which performs activities to increase all desirable material and spiritual wealth.
– Wangze, which performs activities to control difficult people and circumstances.
– Trakze, which performs activities to wrathfully eliminate all insurmountable obstacles and life-threatening situations.
2. 9 Mothers. They represent protection of the five senses and developing control of the four elements. These are all attributes that signify their ability to assist tantric practitioners with their higher meditations.
3. 8 Guiding Monks. They represent the Eight Great Bodhisattvas (Avalokitesvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Samantabhadra, Maitreya, Kshitigarbha, Akashagarbha, Sarva-nivarana-viskambini) and they bring about the growth of the Dharma, through the Sangha, Dharma practitioners and Dharma establishments.
4. 10 Youthful & Wrathful Attendants. They represent the ten wrathful attendants to avert inner and outer obstacles. They are beings who are from Mongolia, China, Kashmir, India, Bengali, etc.
5. Setrap. He is a senior Dharma Protector from India and an emanation of Amitabha Buddha. He had enthroned Dorje Shugden as an authentic Dharma Protector. Therefore, he also resides within the same mandala of Dorje Shugden.
6. Kache Marpo. He is not an emanation of Dorje Shugden but he is still an enlightened Dharma Protector in his own right. He was originally known as Tsiu Marpo of Samye Monastery. However, he has placed himself under the service of Dorje Shugden as his chief minister, performing many activities in order to protect and benefit practitioners. Therefore, he stands guard at the main entrance of Dorje Shugden’s mandala. He often takes trance of qualified mediums to speak.
7. Namkar Barzin. He is the reincarnation of an old Mongolian monk and when he passed away in Phari area of Tibet, his spirit was placed as a powerful assistant of Dorje Shugden. He guards and protects buildings and great institutions especially those that benefit others. He rides on a mythical Gyaling animal that resembles a goat but with scales.
These sacred images are available on *Vajrasecrets. They are made of high quality alloy and are one of a kind. They are based on the lineage of His Holiness Panchen Rinpoche’s monastery, Tashilhunpo in Shigatse, Tibet. In fact, the iconography of these statues are based on detailed photographs taken by H. E. His Holiness the 10th Panchen Lama
Tibetans commonly refer to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama as the “sun and moon” of Tibetan Buddhism. They are the center of Tibetan Buddhist civilization, which draws to its sphere of influence millions of non-Tibetan practitioners. The Panchen Lama’s incarnation line began with the 16th abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen (1570 – 1662). He was bestowed the title of Panchen Lama by His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama after being declared as an emanation of Amitabha.
After being given the title, his three previous incarnations were posthumously also bestowed the title, making Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen the 4th Panchen Lama. He became a teacher to many Tibetans, Bhutanese and Mongolian religious figures, including His Holiness the 4th and 5th Dalai Lamas, and the 1st Jetsun Dampa of Mongolia. A prolific author, Chokyi Gyeltsen is credited with over a hundred compositions, including a number of commentaries and ritual texts that remain central in the Gelukpa tradition today. Along with his role as a teacher of the Dharma, the Panchen Lamas are usually responsible for the recognition of the rebirths of the Dalai Lamas, and vice versa.
The 10th Panchen Lama, Lobsang Trinley Lhundrub Chokyi Gyeltsen (19 February 1938 – 28 January 1989) continued both the spiritual and political roles of his predecessors. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, his contemporary, was even heard to say and echo the Panchen Lama’s own words that the Dalai Lama would safeguard Tibet from the outside while the Panchen Lama would safeguard Tibet from the inside, as he never left Tibet after the political troubles of 1959. He was truly loved by the Tibetans, all the way until his passing. When he taught, thousands of people would attend, not only from his own Gelug lineage, but masters and practitioners from all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.
At his sprawling monastery of Tashi Lhunpo, he has a special chapel specifically dedicated to Dorje Shugden, where prayers and rituals are performed on a daily basis. In his great omniscience the Panchen Lama held Dorje Shugden as the principal Dharma protector of the monastery. He also personally propitiated Dorje Shugden among other Dharma protectors, and even wrote extensive prayers and rituals to Dorje Shugden. These rituals and prayers are contained within his ‘sung bum’ or collected works, which are provided here. As such a great lama, with an erudite and clear understanding of the Buddhist scriptures, a teacher to millions in both Tibet and China, from an established incarnation line and an emanation of the Buddha Amitabha, he could not be mistaken about his practice of Dorje Shugden.
His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama is known for his composition of commentaries and practice texts that are still in use by contemporary Buddhist practitioners both in Tibet and across the world. One of these is a powerful ritual composition propitiating the compassionate Dorje Shugden.
Upon the request by Acharya Lobsang Jangchub to compose a shorter version of the prayer (sadhana) for the exhortation of activities of Dorje Shugden, Panchen Lama immediately composed an abbreviate form of Dorje Shugden’s Kangsol. This text is entitled “Manjunatha’s (Tsongkapa) Lineage protector Dorje Shugden and five forms wrathful propitiations and confessional prayers and fulfilment of activities rites” or “Melodious sound of Accomplishment of the Four Activities” for short. Once the prayers were completed, he had signs and strong feelings that Dorje Shugden has been working hard to protect the Buddhadharma in general and the lineage of Lama Tsongkhapa specifically.
Mirroring the abilities of one of his earlier incarnations, Khedrub Je, a disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa and master of both sutra and tantra, the Panchen Lama used his compositional skill and poetic prowess to create a masterful sadhana. Worthy of note is a praise in which the first letter of each verse is a Tibetan vowel. Such compositions are rarely seen, and have historically only been used when propitiating senior Dharma protectors such as Palden Lhamo and Kalarupa.
The Panchen Lama also stated that while composing the Dorje Shugden sadhana (prayers) he was filled with a sense of happiness and bliss. He ends the composition with not only his official title but his ordination name, Tenzin Trinley Jigme Choje Wangchuk, endorsing the validity of his work. He composed the sadhana in his own Tashi Lhunpo monastery while in the Hall of Clear Light and Bliss.

“If the Dalai Lama, if His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by Dorje Shugden, then we might as well not practice Buddhism anymore. If His Holiness the Dalai Lama can have his life shortened by a so-called evil spirit, any evil spirit, then can he be Avalokiteshvara? So on one hand you say, we say, I say, everybody says, he is Avalokiteshvara; on the other hand you’re saying that he can be harmed by an evil spirit… Which one is it? Can he be harmed by an evil spirit or is he Avalokiteshvara? Do you think Avalokiteshvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Tara all take refuge in something else to protect themselves from Dorje Shugden? How illogical is that? How illogical of people to say His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by an evil spirit, any evil spirit or “Dorje Shugden” evil spirit. How is that possible?” – Tsem Tulku Rinpoche

We should fulfil the will of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for an autonomous Tibetan state.
Dear friends,
This meme is powerful. Who you hang around with and the types of attitude they have is who you will be influenced by many times and who you will become in the future. Look at your friends and the people that always surround you to know who you will become.

Recently Beng Kooi and Martin on behalf of myself and Kechara was lucky to have audience with His Holiness Gaden Trisur Rinpoche Jetsun Lungrik Namgyal of Gaden Shartse Monastery. He lives in around Paris, France. His Holiness is 91 years old and very healthy and alert. He was the 101st throne holder for Tsongkapa and was the head of the Gelugpa school of Buddhism and was very successful during his tenure. He is a strong practitioner of both Sutra and Tantra of Je Tsongkapa’s tradition and a master of all Buddhist knowledge. He holds steadfast to his protector Dorje Shugden very strongly. So we can see even the highest throneholders who are masters of Sutra and Tantra also practices Dorje Shugden knowing the benefits.
Beng Kooi and Martin brought photo albums of Kechara Forest Retreat/Kechara and updates on Kechara and our works. His Holiness was very pleased to listen and offered some gifts back.
This is a beautiful picture and the great blessings bestowed on us from His Holiness Gaden Trisur Rinpoche Jetsun Lungrik Namgyal.
Humbly,

Great message every Tibetan especially must read!
Lama Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche is one of the great masters who has achieved renunciation and very devoted to his guru and fearlessly spreading the teachings of Dorje Shugden.
“The one who can really save you is your root teacher, it has nothing to do with fame at all.”
Lama Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche advised us that we should not follow the teacher who is famous, wealth, status or have many followers. We should not only focus on these external attraction but the most important thing to look into is the guru’s teachings. However, we should aspire to have a qualified guru able to help us to control our mind and follow by mind transformation. In 50 Verses Of Guru Devotion, it is stated clearly that:
Vajradhara said, “Enlightenment cannot be found anywhere. Only by practicing the methods taught by the guru, purifying your mind and accumulating merit can you find enlightenment.”
Without the guru, we will not know the dharma and 4 Noble Truths. Without the guru, we will not have any oral transmission and any blessings from the guru. Without the guru, we will not understand Lamrin, sunyata and bodhicitta well. Without the guru, we will have the opportunity to receive any initiation for the higher tantric practice towards enlightenment path. In short, our attainments depends on our loyalty, samaya and devotion to our guru. We can practice and cultivate guru devotion through the daily recitation of The Nine Attitudes of Devotion to the Guru and 50 Verses Of Guru Devotion.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this inspirational article of Lama Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche.
Lama Jampa Ngodup is supremely compassionate and kind, to share the dharma with multitudes in Tibet. He is also very humble but he speaks clearly and with power,
I thank Lama Jampa for sharing the dharma especially on the topic of guru devotion.
The topic on guru devotion is taught as the first chapter within the Lamrim, before even topics of the small scope, that is how important guru devotion is for the growth of our spiritual path.
Your Guru is the one who has tirelessly given everything to you, the most precious one being the Dharma in all forms because that is the one and only thing that will matter in this life and your future lives.
What Lama Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche taught about guru devotion is the very first thing I learnt after meeting Tsem Rinpoche, And it makes complete sense, because having guru devotion puts your values to the test – from your consistency to determination, to loyalty, to trust, to wisdom, to generosity, to patience, to compassion, to strength – everything the Dharma teaches you to gain enlightenment, If you do not have Guru Devotion, you lack the very fundamentals to any practice, so how would one gain any attainments through their Dharma practice if they do not have Guru Devotion to their root teacher?
As Kensur Rinpoche once said by trusting your teacher (having Guru Devotion) and Dorje Shugden, everything will be okay,
Guru Devotion develops you for everything you need in your Dharma practice. Having guru devotion is a complete Dharma practice in itself.
Lama Wangchuk Rinpoche advice is to always follow the advise of your teacher no matter whether your teacher is famous or not. It is your teacher who has your best interest at heart. To be devoted to your guru and keep your samaya clean will support you in your spiritual growth. Not to look for teachers just because the teacher is famous. Once you have found your root teacher and the teacher accepts you as the student, then this sacred relationship should be preserved.
Lama Wangchuk Rinpoche is a very famous DS Lama in China. He has many students and always goes to different monasteries to give teachings. What he said about Guru Devotion is very true, it is what Tsem Rinpoche has been teaching us also. When we have taken refuge in a teacher, we must have done our evaluation on him already. Therefore, we should not have doubts in his attainments or his responsibility as a teacher. Whatever method that is used by our teacher on us is to help us progress spiritually. Because all of us have different karmas so our teacher has to use different methods on different students.
Don’t take refuge in a teacher if we still have doubts. Only take refuge when we are 100% convinced that the teacher is authentic without faults. The negative karma of having negative views on one’s guru is very heavy.
Without the guru you would never hear the dharma. Without the dharma there is no practice. Without practice there will be no sangha. Without practice there is no Buddhahood. Without Buddhahood there will be no more Buddhas. Therefore without the Guru there is no Buddha, Dharma and sangha. Be loyal, consistent, genuine and caring with your guru.

It is nice to read more about Lama Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche. It is very rare to find lama besides my teacher, Tsem Rinpoche who talks/promote Dorje Shugden through Guru Devotion. Is not often you find a lama to be so vocal about Dorje Shugden in a good light and be in harms way (danger) due to his strong Guru Devotion just like Tsem Rinpoche. I have heard from some of his students that because of his stance on Dorje Shugden, his life has also been threatened. Same as Tsem Rinpoche.
One of the many reasons, I am with my root and only Lama, Tsem Rinpoche all these years is because of his stance and his devotion towards his teachers. When many abandoned Dorje Shugden, my Lama DID NOT. Instead, Rinpoche relentlessly found many methods to promote Dorje Shugden and put his life in danger for the sake of others. And for that, I am grateful.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing and stressed the importance of Guru devotion with us.
Lama Jampa Ngodrup Wangchuk Rinpoche’s teaching and explanation are very clear and powerful for us to understand that one should have strong guru devotion to one’s guru.
The kindness of our Guru must be remembered and appreciated.Never abandon our Guru nor matter what happen. Without our Guru i would not be learning Dharma today.
May Rinpoche be constantly in good health to be able to continue his works of spreading the holy Dharma to benefit all sentient beings.
Thanks again with folded hands.
Lama Jampa Ngodrup Wangchuk Rinpoche gave a very powerful teaching and solid advise on what constitutes guru devotion. Even a slight or small negative thought can be considered a breach of relationship. This single thought is the root cause for further negative thinking to arise.
Without a Guru, there is no Dharma,. Without Dharma, there is no Sangha, and without Sangha there is no Buddha. And if there is no Buddha, there is no Guru. This logic flows and therefore, the Guru is the root of all attainments. Without Guru, there can be no Enlightenment. It is just like Buddha Shakyamuni, for without Manjushri, there is no teacher to Shakyamuni.
I vow to take this to heart and remember this throughout all my lives and will not abandon my Guru whatever the circumstances. May my mind and heart remember and take this deeply.
Thank you Your Eminence and may you continue to teach the Dharma and be in good health always.
Humbly yours
Lum Kok Luen
Lama Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche pointed out that it does not need big actions to cause a breach of Guru Devotion, all it takes is a negative thought. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to be able to stand firm and be able to control one’s thoughts. After all, when we chose the Guru, we should have check the Guru out for his qualities as a dharma teacher and not as a celebrity.
He also stated that Manjushri will manifest in a form that is required during the times may it be as a teacher (Je Tsongkhapa), yidam {Yamantaka) or Protector (Kalarupa and Dorje Shugden). as “He (Manjushri) promised and vowed that he would not become enlightened before all sentient beings themselves become fully enlightened.”
So, there should be no doubt as to the qualities of Dorje Shugden and so should not abandon the practice just because someone else ask you to.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing.
Guru devotion is very important. We must remember the thoughts and kindness of our Guru and how much have we gained. We should be devoted loyally and have no doubt in the teachings.???
Namo Guru Beh, Namo Buddha Ya, Namo Dharma Ya, Namo Sangha Ya. Is the refuge vow of Vajrayana Buddhists of the Gelug tradition.
Such being the case, it is always to remember that it is our Guru that we make our first reverence to. The reason is very clear, if not for our Guru, how can we even understand the Dharma and with His guidance to practise Buddhism.
I thank Lama Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk for his clear teaching why Guru devotion is so important for us to succeed in our spiritual path and the ways whereby we can disparage our Guru and break our samaya with Guru that will lead us to great negativities.
Without my Guru, I have no comprehension of the Dharma and no attainments nor success along my spiritual path.
Most of all I thank my Root Guru, H.E the 25th Tsem Rinpoche for always having the patience to care for my well being and progress in life to overcome my acute negativities.
I have heard of his name again and again on the Internet and I really like how he champions Dorje Shugden practice in the name of pure Dharma and of Guru devotion. Lama Jampa Ngodrub is not a big name himself and all I know about him is what I can read online about him. I like that because it shows that even an ordinary monk with the Gelug tradition can gain great devotion and popularity if one’s practice is sincere and samaya is intact.
From this little translation blurb I can see that he is down-to-earth, practical and no-nonsense lama. Just the type of lama that will lead his students well and to carry own the lineage with his pure and unbroken lineage of teachings. I realize that Dorje Shugden lamas that dare to go against mainstream thought about the practice is very courageous and have tremendous blessings of the lineage. I rejoice and I hope to see and hear more about this lama and wish he has a long life to proliferate the lineage, blessings and teachings.
It is heartwarming to see Shugden Lama Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche is upholding the Lama Tsongkhapa teaching steadfastly and spreading across Tibet. I believe this certainly contribute to the growth and flourishing of Dharma into the ten directions.
Long Live Lama Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche!
The guru is everything. From guru devotion, you achieve everything; therefore we should carry out his instructions, and go all the way. Nothing is achieved if we don’t put in the time, sweat, effort and sometimes tears into it. All success, achieving all realizations, depends on correctly devoting to the guru. The guru is Manjushri to achieve wisdom; the guru is the yidam, from which through prayers one achieves attainments; the guru is also the protector from whom you receive protection. From my personal experience, Rinpoche has shown me patience, kindness, support, lead me to face and overcome challenges in my dharma work and life. I have learnt to be more sharp, alert by doing dharma work. I realised that i have found true happiness ,and hope I am able to have my devotion to my perfect guru until my future lives.??
Lama Jampa Ngodrup Wangchuk Rinpoche gives very powerful advice on real Guru Devotion. Clearly, as he puts it, the heart of practice is not whether our Guru is famous or not, but it is that if our Guru has given us teachings which have helped us to control our mind, we should be devoted and loyal to him , no matter what. Indeed , all our spiritual attainments and progress to high levels depend on our devotion and clean samaya with our Guru. Thus he says if we follow out Guru sincerely from out heart, we will grow many attainments.
He further emphasises that no advice from a high-ranking Lama should ever override our personal Lama’s. We should never abandon any practice given by our Guru even if another famous guru tells us it is wrong.Never should we entertain negative thoughts or doubts about our Guru even for a moment. This itself is already a breach of Guru Devotion.
Again he reminds us to be grateful to our Guru for all the teachings he has so compassionately given us to transform our minds.Jetsun Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche has taught tens and thousands of his disciples in Tibet that one should have strong guru devotion to one’s guru. It is in essence the pith of th Mahayana path and the Vajrayana path of practice.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this powerful teaching of one of the greatest teachers of Tibet, Lama Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche, who is direct and precise in enunciating every point he makes.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing another precious teaching on Guru Devotion.
One must be very mindful to realise how easy a student can breach Guru devotion; there is no need for any harsh words or actions, just a simple negative view of the Guru is sufficient to breach Guru devotion. This applies to ALL students no matter how famous or popular their names may be.
This teaching reminds me of another teaching given by another High Lama – H.H Dilgo Kyentse (https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/inspiration-worthy-words/golden-words-by-h-h-dilgo-kyentse.html). It is said in this sharing that :-
Even if famous or well known people criticize your practice/lineage/lama, you have to take a step back and not be fazed by their fame but think to yourself:
**Has your lama benefitted you, loved you and gave you precious dharma? Being loyal to your lama is necessary.
**Has your practice helped you? Have you seen some changes in your mind? Even a little is a good sign.
**Has your lama encouraged you to be kind, hold your vows and develop higher states of consciousness? If so, your teacher is sincere.
**Has your lineage/Yidam/Deity blessed you with help, hope and blessings? Then continue and be firm.
**Has the teachings been given to you from pure motivation? Then appreciate it from the core by practising.
For a deluded student like me, the above questions and answers should constantly be revisited when in doubt; never to allow negativity to arise but instead always keep in mind how precious my Guru is !! I may not at this point understand completely the tenets or methods or controversies that surface in the Buddha Dharma world, but the gratitude towards all that I have received so far should be transformed to benefit others around me, consistently.
Thank you Rinpoche and may you live long in good health to continue to share Dharma to benefit many beings !!
Tx to publish such deeply inspiring speech of Lama Jampa Ngodrup,Guru Devotion is the seed the sprout the tree and fruit of Enlightenment.italychampatogme
Tx for the Golden advices of Lama Jampa Ngodrub.
Dear Rinpoche,
Recently, I’ve read about this Lama Jampa Ngodup Rinpoche here http://www.dorjeshugden.org/lamas/lama-jampa-ngodup From that article, I realised that He is a Great Lamrim Master. Although it’s a bit difficult for me to comprehend on how His Guru transmitted the oral transmission to Him through dreams, but I do know everything it is possible. It can be transmitted through visions. On the other hand, in this article, I realised that the root teacher for Buddha Shakyamuni was Buddha Manjushri and due to Buddha Manjushri’s vows, Buddha Manjushri appears as teachers, students and Dharma Protectors in these days. Again, we cannot confirmed this through our own perception ?… but I know Buddha can manifests in every ways, shapes or forms. I am just using my ordinary view to perceive things.
In the video, I’ve learnt that we have to follow our teacher’s guidance. Once we have committed to a Guru, we should submit and follow all the way. Lama Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche sternly advised us in the video( from His tone of voice), it showed how important it is to follow a Master in a correct way. Besides, Lama Jampa Ngodup Wangchuk Rinpoche also reaffirmed the lineage of Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden and Protector Dorje Shugden is none other than Lord Manjushri Himself. Thank you Rinpoche for this article as I’ve learnt a bit more about this great master.
All success, achieving all realizations, depends on correctly devoting to the guru. The guru is kinder than the Buddha’s for they give us the food and nectar of the teachings during times of famine, well Buddha’s do so during times of plenty. We have the good fortune to encounter a Guru who can teach us, instruct us, and change the course of our future. We should not squander the opportunity. We should devote ourselves correctly for the guru is White Tara for long life; the guru is Manjushri to achieve wisdom; the guru is the yidam, from which through prayers one achieves attainments; the guru is also the protector from whom you receive protection. The guru is also Dzambala, from whom with devotion, seeing him as the Buddha and correctly devoting oneself, then one gets all wealth, all prosperity, for one’s own conditions needed to help other sentient beings. The guru helps you to control your mind, the delusions, and to achieve enlightenment. The guru is everything. From guru devotion, you achieve everything; therefore we should carry out his instructions, and go all the way. Nothing is achieved if we don’t put in the time, sweat, effort and sometimes tears into it.
Dear Bradley,
Just saw your comment and I’ve learnt more especially this:
We should devote ourselves correctly for the guru is White Tara for long life; the guru is Manjushri to achieve wisdom; the guru is the yidam, from which through prayers one achieves attainments; the guru is also the protector from whom you receive protection. The guru is also Dzambala, from whom with devotion, seeing him as the Buddha and correctly devoting oneself, then one gets all wealth, all prosperity, for one’s own conditions needed to help other sentient beings.
Thank you for this perspective.
