I’ve never really taken the 8 glasses a day seriously. I only drink when I am thirsty. This new information is very interesting. Take a read.

Rinpoche,
I do feel that drinking more water helps with skin hydration. From my personal experience, my skin looks pleasantly plump, glowy and radiant when I drink more water than usual. However (sad but true) , I don’t like drinking water that much. Hence, at times my skin looked dull and unattractive. Still, it’s better to drink water than not and it must correlate with our food intake as well.
Thank you for your kind sharing and reminder for the essentials of drinking water. We commonly hear the advice to drink eight glasses of water a day, to ensure that we are getting enough water to maintain an healthy lifestyle and not for thirst.
Most healthy people can stay hydrated by drinking water and other fluids whenever they feel thirsty. For some people eight glasses a day might be enough, while others might need more.
Thanks Rinpoche for sharing this article. Water is important to our body. To determine dehydration of our body, check the color of our urine which is dark yellow. A good method to monitor us from dehydration.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article on how much water we should drink. I drink water from my tumbler and i’m honestly not sure how much water i drink daily. Will try to keep track of it from now on.
lol
I drink a lot of water when I have constipation or diarrhoea. The reason being is that the next day I feel much better than the day before. During a normal day I only drink water when I want to. Otherwise I have other drinks.
Drink when you are thirsty. When you are thirsty you drink. It’ is not that difficult to understand I think.
Yes really 8 glasses of water we must drink and its healthy also. i drink daily
Hmm,.. I always drink way more than 8 glasses, I used to have high fevers every day and drink tons of ice water or tea, I haven’t had it for like a year now except maybe 3 times, but the habit of drinking all the time is still strong hehe. My blood feels gross and thick, my saliva feels thick, if I don’t drink all the time.
Interesting I’m not sure how many I take a day, not disciplined enough to monitor but I do take more when I exercise. And I generally feel much better when I have enough intake of water.
I like water, and i feel it helps carry toxins out of my body quickly and keeps body functions stable to stay well hydrated at all times. It improves my skin tone and helps lose weight too.
Yellow pee = Water me!
heh.
Yes, I think whether I drink 8×8 glasses per day, 10×8 or 6×8 it isn’t that important. It’s not the numbers but how I feel. When I feel thirsty I drink, it’s that simple. Same with food. I don’t eat when I’m not hungry. I think our body will signal our brain when it’s time to take liquids to rehydrate. But I do carry a water bottle with my most of the time because I move around pretty much and I get thirsty fast. Rinpoche says I’m always carrying a water tank with me! 🙂
Thank you Rinpoche for this info. Now I won’t feel so guilty for not drinking 8 glasses of water daily.
Thanks Rinpoche, i always thought that was a load of nonsense..i rarely drink water..i like cups of tea, chocolate soya milk, fruit juice, pepsi etc..and get tons of liquid in food…i dont drink water, but im not attached to not drinking it! lov andy..i spose its different strokes for different folks.x
From my own personal experience I would vote for drnking more water is good. 8 glasses of water a day is not that much spread over a period of the whole day. In my case I do not feel dehydrated even though I do not drink a lot of water. The problem is the minute I drink water I have to go to the toilet. The side effects I get from not drinking enough water is I get very dry skin. Every time when I visit my Doctor or any other Doctors they will always put me on a 2 litre water drip. But apart fro
m dry skin I have not experienced constipation which normally will occur in people who are dehydrated. I think drinking water is good.

Dear Rinpoche,
From my own experience, I’ve found the more water I drink (within reason, of course), the more fresh and alert I feel.
Like you, I’ve never really bought into the “eight glasses per day” theory, but like any health related issue, there seems to be a mass of conflicting information and advice.
For example, some experts say that you shouldn’t wait until you’re thirsty before drinking, as this is your body giving you a warning sign but rather it is preferable to drink fluids regularly. Others say this isn’t so important.
I think it comes down to what suits the individual. Drinking water is a lot like sleep: some require more than others. If you can survive OK without drinking lots of fluids, why bother? On the other hand, if you feel better for it, then perhaps drinking eight glasses per day is the way for you.
Either way, individual investigation seems to be the best approach. Personally, I reckon that if we listen to health experts, we’ll all be living on dust and air before too long. One day eggs are bad for you, the next it’s cheese, or milk, or too much fruit, or too little fruit and so on…I think they just guess!
Whichever way you find to be best for you, dear Rinpoche, I hope you always remain happily hydrated!
Kind regards,
Sandy
