Jojo Struys in KP Bangsar
Nice sms and picture from Li Kim:
Dear Rinpoche,
Filming has ended. It went very well. It would be a great program which will be on line next week, which day we don’t know yet. Jojo was very taken in by our items and actually asked questions and while filming got so carried away with David’s explanations that the filmed more than planned.
David was very good. He wore his new and not tight shirt. Looked handsome. Here is a picture of Jojo very interested in our pendant with double vajra. (1 pic). Martin came by and gifted Jojo the pendant and a singing bowl as tokens of appreciation. Have a good day Rinpoche. Love, li kim cc jp
How Kind of Jojo to help with our projects. She must be very busy but took the time out to come down and help. We appreciate Jojo’s kindness very much!!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH JOJO!! Tsem Rinpoche

Jojo Struys came round to Tsem Ladrang the other day so we all had the chance to meet her – and what a lovely person she is, so down to earth and smiley 🙂 It’s nice to see how people from all backgrounds are opening their minds to spirituality and seeing how it can be relevant to them. After all, Buddhists believe that even an interest in Buddhist art and images can be cause for being connected to the blessings of the Buddhas.
And hey, I’m proud to say that Buddhism is probably the only religion in the world whose images are used everywhere – offices, shops, clubs, bars. Far from being offensive or blasphemous, Buddhists believe that it is something great for in the midst of partying, drinking, and doing what you always do, there is also the chance to see an image that represents enlightenment and therefore receive its blessings and protection. Don’t you just love it that there’s nothing uptight and fear-inducing in this!
(And anyway, I think the Buddhas would LOVE a night out in a club. You think they all just sit there on a giant lotus in heaven, blanked out to the world? Nope, I don’t think they do. They’re right here among us, with us. And they aren’t uptight and straight-laced, they’d throw a bigger, better party than any of us could)
Terima Kasih Rinpoche!
It’s amazing how religious art and artifacts can be appreciated from a secular point of view, in Malaysia that is! David being the savvy and confident one navigates Jojo in understanding the works and Jojo exploring the items with such an open and investigative mind.
“Jojo was very taken in by our items and actually asked questions and while filming got so carried away with David’s explanations that the filmed more than planned.”
Yeah, life is unpredictable and on that note, so can the filming! LOL

This interview echoes something that Rinpoche mentioned many years back that, he said more and more people all over the world will associate Buddhist sculptures and statues as a form of art.
Now in the world there is a growing number of people fascinated with Buddhist statues as deco or to have that Buddhist art piece that gives you a sense of peace pervading the space that it occupies.
The first time I saw a picture a picture of Buddha Shakyamuni in the history book there was a great sense of familiarity, I fell in love with it. Many years later images of the Enlightened One still takes my breath away.
It’s getting more and more interesting people actually like what we r doing…
Let’s Rock and Roll with Dharma!
Why do I get the impression David’s eyes are always trained somewhere? For a good cause, no problem at all.
Kechara has been going places and being noticed. We’re hip, forward looking, innovative and definitely appeals to a large cross section of people. This is dharma for us today in this modern age and you don’t even have to be a Buddhist to practice dharma.
