We have purchased a building to have a permanent soup kitchen. So we will have a premises to cook and distribute. it is going under renovations during this period while the whole organization awaits it’s completion with great happiness. We’ll be able to serve the homeless even better than now. Currently we are distributing 800 packets of food per week. That’s 3,200 packets per month!! The number is growing. With more kind donations from individuals and groups, we can increase our food output which we greatly desire.
Please return to this post from time to time for updates on the renovation progress.
Much care,
Tsem Rinpoche

This is fantastic. Soup kitchens provide so much hope to people that are going through a hard time. A permanent location brings stability into lives which don’t often have it, and it looks like the renovation is going great. Thumbs up!

great comment.Thanks for the info.
I’m excited about the new services that KSK can offer with the new premises. I hope it can really help KSK benefit the homeless more. I mean it’s time to be able to benefit them more and more.
Things like counseling, psychiatric evaluation, medical services will enhance the capability of KSK to a whole new level. Or to have space to provide to women or disadvantaged folk a night’s rest for them to have shelter for whatever reason to be safe from the streets. Even a shower that most of us take granted for!
Most of the time homelessness is a social problem, hence more social methods need to be applied to the problem right?
The Kechara Soup Kitchen building is so so so much needed to help the plight of the homeless in Kuala Lumpur. Don’t get it wrong: KSK doesnt just feed the homeless but its long term vision is to get their clients off the streets, into gainful employment, a roof over their heads and give them back their dignity. Every human deserves that.
So if you support KSK, it is a definite positive contribution to society. Many other companies and even the Malaysian Government are doing this already. So please do your bit, check out http://kechara.com/ksk
Go mummy! I spoke to her earlier tonight, and she was bursting with excitement for the soup kitchen’s completion and what it will be able to accomplish. She was talking about the toilets for staff, and the tiles they had chosen to make the toilets more comfortable, and how nice the sinks were…and how wonderful the kitchen will look with glass cabinets, and what a restaurant feel it will have with the displays. She said most of the people will never know what it’s like to eat in a restaurant, so she wanted to give them that experience. I hope one day to achieve the same level of care for others that my mum shows to people all the time!
With the opening of KSK building, the homeless will be able to make use of the facilities that are available. Besides providing food and medical assistance and job placements, this building will also have shower rooms and laundry facilities.
Starting off with just distributing 20 packets per round, KSK now provides food to over 800 packets on weekends. Now with the building, KSK will be able to provide food daily to these homeless and needy. With such a big amount of food distributed, KSK will need more volunteers and monetary assistance. So please come and give your support to KSK in whichever way you can!!!
Yay! Hope now has a home. With this premises up and running, KSK can serve the poor and homeless 7 days a week. Beyond just feeding the hunger, we can provide more help to them – from counselling, basic medical care, some brief respite, a place to wash their laundry and get some warm cooked food.
More than anything else, KSK will help many regain their dignity and confidence to return into the community in which they belong to. As of to date, KSK has helped more than 25 people obtain jobs and regain their identities through the National Identification Registration Office, and many more.
At the same time, more volunteers can get involved and donate in whatever way they can afford – be it in kind, time or money. We can all make a difference together with KSK!
