Ann Timson is one courageous and selfless old lady. What she did was inspiring to many as at her age no one expected her to stop a robbery. She is such a brave lady risking her own life too ,fighting against a few robbers at that time.Age is mostly a matter of mind.
This video shows no matter how old we are now ,we can do ,never give up and if the matters does not age.Afterall age is not a issue if we do not mind. She is awesome and because of her one of the robber was caught. Thanks to her intervention.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing thi inspiring post.
Thank you for sharing this inspiring video. This is an example of selfless act from an old lady. She just sprang into action by swinging her handbags at the robbers. I would certainly pause and think of the risk before engaging in such risky move.
This video also shows that no matter what your age is, you can still do whatever you want to do. Many old people especially in Malaysia have the mindset of getting old is the same as being useless. They will just stop trying and sit back and relax. Little do they know that they still can live like the younger generation and do what they love to do. It is sad to see the older generation just stop living their life and sit around watching tv or doing something old people should do.
It’s inspiring that they are still people in this world that strongly believe in right and wrong. There are still those that would act immediately when they see wrong deed, injustice, crime without going through the process of weighing whether to act is the best course of action or not.
I think the older generation are more gracious and heroic compared to us today. Someone evolution has brought human socially to a stage where preservation of self is of utmost importance. Most people in today’s modern society are more of a by-stander. We don’t want to get involve, it’s none of our business. We definitely do not want to risk anything. Even for those whose conscience are poking them, they tend to observe first, do a mental risk analysis before reacting. Such is the reality of the society we live in today.
But as you can see, because the old lady acted, soon enough others got involved. Sometimes people just need one person to initiate it first. We can choose to be the follower or the initiator.
“Don’t wait for the light. Be the light” ~ His Eminence the 25th Tsem Rinpoche
Awh this is very cute. I like old people they are cute. But also needless to mention that Ann Timson is brave, fearless, and has a conscious. It was also quite funny how all the robbers started dispersing once she arrived on the scene and one of them even fell quite badly. Poor Rolex staff who were shutting the store distressed. But it did look like a scene from a movie or something. But yes Go Ann, you’re awesome!
This woman is AWESOME! I was laughing in disbelief when I watched this video! She didn’t stop them because she was in the middle of it – but she RAN towards the robbers with her handbag in the air ready to strike.
She’s a courageous citizen. She saw something that she thought was morally and lawfully wrong, and went to stop the thieves. She went against her safety zone, ran towards them – when others were running away from the situation. Without any weapons, she shooed the boy’s off like flies!
Because of her, one of them was caught – when the public came to their senses and helped the lady.
Good to see that the old lady is fine. I feel comfort as the robbers didn’t hurt the lad, but this doesn’t mean that I’m praising the robbers. But what made the robbers scared and ran away? Was it because the lady is very strong and giant in size, or she has any physic power? NO.
That is because the society care for each others, they are not selfish, they are not cold and distant and only think for themselves. The robbers knew about this, so when a lady came out and stopped them, they ran instead of hurting the lady! What stops the robbers? to me I don’t think that was the old lady, it was the ‘attention’ from the society and authority that scared the robbers away. Because the robbers knew they will be caught.
I saw so many cases that the robbers would just kill the victim or anyone who stop them. Why? Because they know even they do this, they will be fine, as the society is cold and selfish. The authority is irresponsible and would not take any action against them. The robbers are fearless. This is the saddest fact.
Therefore to stop criminal cases, we should care for others, we should watch out for each other and stay together to stop it. We must urge the authority to do something, instead of saying, “There is nothing we can do. Just let it be. I just need to be careful and take care of my family. That’s all”. But what makes you so sure that you and your family will be ok?
Yes she is awesome, I wish to train myself to be like her, and everybody to be like her, stand up to unfairness, crimes, immoral, abuse; for oneself and for others. Then we will have a more peaceful self, beautiful and peaceful world to live in. The robbers I think were not beat down by her, she is not that strong physically, they were defeated by their own, deep inside they know they are doing something very wrong.
Wow, what a selfless act, the lady just do it without thinking of herself. She just came charging from nowhere, and the only weapon she has is her handbag and her determination to stop the crime. Bless her. How many of us can be like her? Thank you for sharing this Rinpoche.
I do admire the act for trying to do whats right. It takes a lot of courage and I also think she probably is a lot less selfish than most of us are which is why she managed to do that on the spur of the moment.
I am sure she could have thought they are insured why worry. But if society and community just do not stand up to criminals I think it will get worst as no one will stop them. I remember in certain villages if threatened the whole village will come out to defend the village that act of being unified does deters criminals. ‘Rukun tettanga’ used to be something the communities in Malaysia used to do whereby the members of the community got together to patrol the community during the nights, it also fostered closer relationship among the people.
Or maybe it could be because she has less to fear. Maybe her work is done, her house is paid for, her children are independent, so she doesn’t have to worry about robbers doing anything to her that would for instance, impair her ability to meet her loans or support her kids.
Regardless of how vulnerable or how old we are, when we come across situations that our heart dictates them as wrong or immoral, stand up and fight against the wrongdoings immediately, and not wait for others to make the first move, as others might not make the first move at all.
If you watch her dashing across from the opposite side of the road, it does strike the question as to whether she’s protecting the belongings of the shop because she knows the owners or is somehow related to the shop. There’s some sense of urgency in her action.
Put that (the motive of her brave attempt) aside, and I see an elderly lady who has only one goal – to stop the robbers even if it meant risking her life. The determination is without question. What is more beautiful is that age doesn’t get in the way of this. If one sets their mind on something, regardless of boundaries set by age, gender etc, they will get their result. I can see that the other pedestrians were maybe inspired by her virtuous conduct and jumped in to help, after she set an example of being the first one to. She broke the projection in their minds that they need to “avoid the situation so they won’t get hurt”. It’s nice to see the other pedestrians jumping in to help at the end, and commend her for her bravery.
Notwithstanding whatever helpless scenes that is depicted in this robbery video blog, it seems a common phenomena that in today’s degenerated age, there will “always be people just walking obliviously around and with cars driving by” turning a blind eye to all such calamity happening around the World, without wanting to help or get involved, unlike this braved compassionate and selfless old lady. By so doing, she risked being harmed, hurt, injured or even may get herself killed, but her main selfless kind thought is for the safety and concern of the halpless people trapped inside the Jewellery shop. Not that she could fight off all those tough-looking robbers, but at least she could raise enough awareness and stall for time so that others willing to help will be able to get involved. That wonderfully, was what she had managed to do successfully. Thank you Rinpoche, for teaching us a lesson well learnt.
Thank You for sharing with us. After replaying the video several of times, my answer are the followings –
1) The old lady could be related to the shop.
2) she might have gone through similar situation before, since nobody care about it and out of the anger she did it.
3) Out of compassion, she saved the situation.
I tought this lady must be related to the shop, the way she runs from far away to the crime scene, understanding exactly what is going on.
Maybe she is the owner, or a relative.
Maybe she isn’t and could not stand the theft being made and acted virtuously?
I don’t know
My main thought while watching this video is this: I would not want to be the person who filmed the scene with his/her phone on 2 grounds:
1. instead of acting to stop a crime being made, I film it? What an awkward reflex to have… no?
2. Still, as I would be filming I see an old lady putting her safety at risk to stop the crime from being completed and what do I do? I continue filming??? mmm…
My initial observation was: I thought the lady dashed from a far distance away. How did she know there was a robbery going on? Seemed staged. Like it was some publicity stunt for a commercial even.
But then again perhaps there was an alarm sounding after the store window was smashed which alerted her to it which was not in the footage.
Whatever the case, the footage showed a very brave woman who genuinely helped without putting herself first. That is the true essence of helping another in my shallow understanding.
At her age, she can still run so fast! Wow amazing! Her actions showed that she is someone who cares for others, not thinking of her own safety and the danger or harm that could happened to her. It was a blessing that she was not harm in this incident.
I think her reaction was spontaneous. She saw some people committing a crime. For her it was wrong and she wanted to stop it. I’m glad there are still people like that.
First thing came to my mind is that this old lady is fearless! it simple means she has let go all her attachments even death. she is not worry about anything, she’ll make use of her life to stand up for justice and live to the max. I am sure she is a cool grandmother and a very lovable person in life. I am sure that she gets respected a lot.
In life, people always worry about gettin hurt no matter physically or emotionally coz of attachment and fear of rejection. This lady has proven that with a pure heart and mind, it really doesnt matter… coz you just want to do it. Coz it feels right.
Question – What would i do given the same situation?
Answer – (after a long long pause) I would call the police instead of going after the robbers myself.
Thank you Rinpoche, articles and videos posted in your blog never fail to make me think deeper.
What a fantastic video. I don’t think I’ll be forgetting that image and song of her running across the road in her bright red coat. What first came to mind was that no-one, not even the cameraman thought to do anything. In fact, he’s standing there “watching” an old lady hurling herself into such potential danger and nobody goes in to even try to rescue her, least of all stop the robbery.
She’s a wonderful example of giving something your all, and the old saying “you never know until you try.” She tried, she gave it her best and she literally saved the day. Sure proves that it’s never about whether we can do something or not, but about how much we WANT something and how much we would be willing to risk or give up for it.
And she was wearing an all-over bright RED coat. Makes me think that perhaps – just perhaps! – Vajrayogini herself emanated down as this old biddy to bludgeon the robbers with her khatvanga handbag.
My take out:
Every once in a while, some selfless person comes along and show us by example to do the right thing with conviction – and then everyone else (who would otherwise think “it has nothing to do with me”) falls in line.
At another level, the human mind works much the same way. Get to the core of the matter; everything else follows. Only if we ignore the problem would this lead to someone getting hurt/suffering a loss.
The lady has other people’s properties at heart more than her own safety or she could be the shop’s proprietress.
It is quite admirable to see her raining relentless blows on the much younger male perpetrators. However, she was very fortunate that the perpetrators did not response to her physically. She could have screamed at the top of her lungs to attract people’s attention to the crime being committed rather than lunging at them physically.
Maybe a past bad event’s memory where she was in a similar situation but she was the victim triggered her off to react physically. Maybe that time no one went to her aid and she knows the pain of loss and did not want it to happen to others.
WOW! She wasn’t afraid for herself at all! It is amazing how her confidence simultaneously frightens away the robbers and eggs other citizens into action.
I can only speak for myself.. I will care for my life, belongings, etc first. She taught me otherwise.. I hope it is not too late to practice selfless…
A person who would react in a situation like this, not thinking about his/her safety, with absolute justice and courage is already rare. What is rarer is that this person is a single old lady. You can see in the video that there were others just walking around the street and cars that drove pass, all were having a “blind eye” and did not do anything to stop the robbery.
No fear and no “But & If”……She is my heroine! I salute to you!!!
This is a very brave old lady. I really respect her courage to fight off so many robbers while other younger fitter folk just walked by without a care. It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult. Kudo to this old lady for her bravery.
Its amazing indeed. It actually reminds me on one TV seria I used to watch as a kid Supergrandma.
But I was as well supriced that there were people around, seeing this two robbers and did nothing, only after this brave old lady came and stopping them fearlessly. Vau!
WOW! She is really Wonder Woman. Selfless act. Senior citizen like her makes an attempt without thinking of all possibilities of the robbers beating her up. We shd learn from them
Bravery is what most of us lack due to selfishness. It is always about the small voices in our mind that goes like this: what if I get myself killed; what do I get out of this; someone else will take care of it; the shop owner has insurance that covers their lost; what if these criminals come back for me; oh robbery, heck, none of my business…
I am unsure if a culture or the sense of community has anything to do with the shaping/losing of the selfishness in us, but I believe a mind with no agenda does bring out righteous guts.
Just to share my recent observation on myself: I have always feel unsafe (because I was also told to be careful since young) when I was living in Malaysia, so I mind only my business and seldom care for others.
I tend to care more and are more daring in fighting for what I think is right and is beneficial for others during my stay in NZ for 7 years. I even stopped the car I was driving and wound the window down simply because I thought the stranger who waved at me at the junction needed my help when I was back in Malaysia for a break.
I bring that ‘caring’ and ‘daring’ side of me to Taiwan. For these 3 years, though I am constantly reminded to be careful, regardless if I was going away to town on my own, wanting to fight for student’s (especially international students) rights, or simply wanted to do something that is meaningful here, I did it with less to fear for.
Maybe mind training and precepts holding helps in the process of mind’s transformation in my case, but for the heroine in the video, whose action can also be seen in NZ, can be someone influenced by her religious teachings (if she is religious at all), or simply because she was being raised in a country that promotes human rights and are taught to help and care for others since young. Don’t you think?

Thank you Rinpoche for this great sharing.
In Tibetan Buddhism, refuge and the guru are closely intertwined. Taking refuge in the three jewels expresses the most fundamental connection to Buddhism. Having confronted the limitations of samsara, we are ready for a change. Taking refuge involves seeking protection and guidance from the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, with the guru often seen as a living embodiment of these three jewels. The guru’s role is to guide practitioners towards enlightenment by pointing them to the path and helping them overcome obstacles. Refuge is not merely a symbolic act but a deep commitment to transforming one’s mind and life by relying on these sources of inspiration and guidance. Taking refuge doesn’t protect us from problems such as illness, accidents, and other difficulties. Rather, it provides us with knowledge to transform obstacles into opportunities. We learn how to relate to difficulties in a new way, and this protects us from confusion and despair. Reading again to understand better .

Reading through this blog of what life was like for Pastor Jean Ai, during lockdown. The Movement Control Order which began in 2020 reminded me of how I went through during the lock down. Staying alone by myself as the rest of my family member outstation in KL. Not easy after all everything as such as getting foods etc. I do my shopping twice a week having doing all the necessary disinfection and so on. What I did at home during the lock down and how I spent my time, days indeed not easy Do reading, watching videos at Tsem Rinpoche blog , learning and practicing and in-fact did full prostration and mantras recitation daily . It had changed my life since then and had completed 100k . Through a Dharma brother I managed to get hold of some mantras for rolling too. Interesting,…..watching Pastor Jean Ai’s video at how she interact with friends that’s awesome.
Thank you Rinpoche and Jean Ai for this interesting sharing.
n Tibetan Buddhism, prostrations are a way to express deep respect and devotion to the Three Jewels for the Buddha, his teachings (Dharma), and the spiritual community (Sangha). Prostration is a physical act of deep reverence or worship, which offers a range of benefits across spiritual, physical, and mental domains. It can be a form of prayer, a means of expressing devotion. It is a deeply symbolic act that purifies negative actions, accumulates merit, and cultivates humility and compassion. It can be a form of prayer, a means of expressing devotion. This act is believed to be beneficial for practitioners, cultivating humility, eliminating negative thoughts, and accumulating positive karma which is believed to lead to positive future outcomes and spiritual progress. Whether we believe in karma or not, our negative karma increases without purification. Hence its important , to purify our negative karma through the Vajrasattva and prostrations practice. It also seen as a way to purify our negative mind, emotions and thought patterns, such as pride and ego if we do it well . Thus, the practice of purification is one of the most important solutions to our problems and is extremely necessary for everyone of us. It is more important to put our everyday life’s effort into the practice of purification to attain spiritual realization.
The Vajrasattva purification practice, which is more powerful than negative karma. With this practice can prevent us from experiencing the problems that negative karma would otherwise bring us. Reciting the Vajrasattva mantra before going to bed to prevent whatever negative karma we have created that day from multiplying it is an incredibly powerful method that it makes our life very light and easy and keeps us happy and peaceful in our inner life.
Both Vajrasattva practice and prostrations done with good visualizations are indeed very beneficial for practitioners.
Thank you Rinpoche for this great sharing and teachings .

H H Kyabje Pabongka Dechen Nyingpo is by far one of the most popular and influential Gelug religious figures of the 20th Century. One of Phabongkha’s most important aristocratic students, Lhalu Lhacham Yangdzom Tsering relationship to her teacher and his lineage teachings goes along way .She is famously remembered for is her unwavering devotion towards her guru, HH Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche. Yangdzom Tsering’s Shatra family were ancient sponsors and students of the Gelug tradition and had apparently been patrons of Tsongkhapa the founder of the Gelug school. Looking at these pictures remained me of my first pilgrimage to Wu Tai San. With the blessings of our guru, we able to visit Wu Tai San a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site . In fact it never did come to my mind that I am fortunate given a chance to go as I am still very new then. Upon hearing about the pilgrimage I got myself register without much thought. The history and stories of Wu Tai San has inspired me to go there. Interesting the Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong of China are closely connected to WuTai San. Wu Tai San located in Shanxi Province, China renowned as the home of Lord Manjushri the bodhisattva of wisdom, with different emanations of the bodhisattva residing on each of the five peaks. The area is dotted with over 50 temples and monasteries, many of which are historical and architecturally significant. Those temples built over 7 dynasties housing numerous Buddhist relics. Wutai Shan also offers stunning scenery, including snow-capped peaks, forests, and streams. Wu Tai San is one of the four Sacred Buddhist mountains of China, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wutai Shan was known to be a mystical and sacred site inhabited by divine spirits, accompanied by unusual events, such as miraculous light appearances at night.
We visited all the Holy sites, making offerings and doing prayers at each sites. We even have the opportunity to collect holy stones for future statue insertion or to keep on our altars. Times flies as our pilgrimage ended with so many stories to share with the rest.
Thank you Rinpoche and writes team sharing those pictures.

I wanted to take a moment to share a recent experience with you regarding my Instagram account. Unfortunately, my account was hacked, which was both frustrating and disappointing. Losing access to something that plays a significant role in my business and personal connections was incredibly stressful. What made the situation even more challenging was discovering that Meta does not have a dedicated support team to assist users facing account compromises. With so many people experiencing this issue daily, it’s alarming that their recovery process is not more accessible or efficient. After numerous failed attempts to recover my account through Meta’s standard procedures, I was fortunate enough to get in touch with a member of the Meta recovery department, @Rothsteincode on X (formerly Twitter), and via email at rothsteincode@gmail.com Their expertise and guidance were invaluable, and thanks to their assistance, I was able to regain full access to my account.
While I am incredibly grateful for their help, this experience has highlighted a major issue—Meta needs to implement better security measures and provide more reliable support for users dealing with these kinds of problems. The lack of direct customer support is unacceptable, considering how vital social media platforms have become for businesses and individuals alike.I wanted to share this with you in case you or anyone you know ever faces a similar issue. If you ever find yourself in this unfortunate situation, I highly recommend reaching out to @Rothsteincode for assistance. Hopefully, Meta will take action to improve their security policies and customer service in the near future.Thank you for taking the time to read this. A great history of a great yogi which I do enjoy reading , reading over it again and again. Jetsun Milarepa was a famous Tibetan siddha, known as a murderer when he was a young man. Who later turning to Buddhism and becoming a highly accomplished Buddhist disciple. Generally considered as one of Tibet’s most famous yogis and spiritual poets, whose teachings are known among several schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Milarepa’s story is one of struggle, anguish, resolve, and triumph all of which make him recognizably. Practicing these teachings for many years in isolated mountain retreats in caves such as caves hidden deep in the mountains of Tsum Valley. That’s where Milarepa attained enlightenment and gained fame for his incredible perseverance in practice and for his spontaneous songs of realisation. Milarepa is said to be the first to achieve the state of Vajradhara in one lifetime. That’s incredible.
Thank you Rinpoche for great sharing interesting read
Visited this old post again, sharing the joy of Kechara House having made it into the Malaysian Book of Records for the Longest non-stop Lamrim Recitation. Hear the holy voice of Kyabje Zong Rinpoche giving advice on the practice of Dorje Shugden to those who had received the life-entrustment initiation. Kyabje Zong Rinpoche wanted to make sure those present received the maximum benefits from their practice, and that they kept their practice well. LEARN MORE >>
In Tibetan Buddhism, it is always said that whatever we practice must come from an enlightened source to be beneficial in our spiritual journey. As such in this video, Kyabje Zong Rinpoche shares with us the history and reincarnation lineage of Dorje Shugden to explain how great this Dharma protector is through the examples of his previous lives, showing us his powerful spiritual attainments. LEARN MORE >>
Dear everyone... This is a good condensed talk I gave on Guru Yoga of Tsongkapa. This is the one you should share with others when they are interested in a not too lengthy explanation. It is the perfect practice for everyone who wants simplicity yet effective blessings. You can share this with more people, it will be good.
"If you say you don't have money to help a animal shelter, why then do you have money to buy meat?"
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Eating animals is not our God-given right, but being kind to them is."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"What makes us good humans is not how we abuse animals, but how much we allow them to live and be happy freely."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"We need another and wiser and perhaps a more mythical concept of animals.... We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein we err, and greatly err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complex than ours they moved finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth."
~ Henry Beston, The Outermost House
"Not eating animals is only unnatural when we are not used to it."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES
"We may encounter defeat, but we must not be defeated."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"What you are today, is the choice you made yesterday."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"You think you can choose your life? What an ego trip!"
~ Lama Yeshe
"If TODAY you are dissatisfied, you must make the changes to create different results for TOMORROW."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
SPIRITUAL QUOTES
“Meditating on Dorje Shugden while reciting his mantra will open the gateways to higher dimensions, blessings and protection.”
~ Tsem Rinpoche
“If one does the recitation of the Lama Tsongkhapa guru yoga prayer for even one month using one of the visualizations for great or clear or quick wisdom, one will definitely see development of that wisdom. It is proved by experience. There is no doubt that by doing the Lama Tsongkhapa guru yoga practice one can meet Lama Tsongkhapa’s teachings from life to life. And furthermore, it gives one the opportunity to be born in the pure realm of Lama Tsongkhapa, Tushita, whenever death happens.”
~ Pabongkha Rinpoche
"I was 18 years old in 1983. That was a very special year as I met His Holiness Kyabje Zong Rinpoche and received innumerable precious teachings and empowerments from Him at Thubten Dhargye Ling Centre in Los Angeles, California. It was the best time of my life. A time that seems so magical and surreal to me. Kyabje Zong Rinpoche is Heruka Buddha and I met Heruka."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"If being me offends you, maybe I'm not the problem."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Never abandon your spiritual teacher no matter how many inner obstacles you need to overcome."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Actions to force something to be permanent makes all the karmas arise."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"The dharma is not easy to listen to… because some people take it as criticism. But Dharma should not be just feel good only for the moment but for deeper contemplations."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Whether we do work and suffer but for others or we do work and suffer for ourselves, either way we have to suffer. That is the nature of samsara. So let us suffer for others and then suffering has meaning."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Those who really want the dharma to grow within themselves and to grow for others should never fear hard work, timing, difficulties, struggles, disappointments because it is for a good cause. Working for Dharma is not a prison or work, but it is purely spiritual practice. It is purely collection of merit and purification. Actually not doing dharma work is the real prison."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"His Holiness Zong Rinpoche stressed the need to continue to practice even when we come up against obstacles, and that we should continually review our progress. He stated that a happy, luxurious life was like a good dream, and that obstacles and difficulties were like a bad dream. We should give them no significance, but simply carry on working towards real, everlasting happiness."
~ Ngala ’ö-Dzin Tridral
"Things in samsara always go wrong. That's its nature. Don't be surprised."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Knowledge never quenches the thirst, only application."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
LIFE QUOTES
"I pity men who occupy themselves exclusively with the transitory in things and lose themselves in the study of what is perishable, since we are here for this very end-that we may make the perishable imperishable, which we can do only after we have learned how to approach both."
~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
"Money amplifies negative characteristics and that can cause problems.
To walk away from that was actually very easy. I didn't even consider it."
~ Angeline Francis Khoo
"I shall not commit the fashionable stupidity of regarding everything I cannot explain as a fraud."
~ Carl Jung
"There is a devil there is no doubt, but is he trying to get into us or trying to get out?"
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"If you love someone, show it by being honest, respectful & honorable with them."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see."
~ Henry David Thoreau
"If I can just be the way I am & you the way you are & we accept each other, world peace is near."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"I am Asian, you are some other beautiful color. Together we make diversity so beautiful."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"It's amazing how some people have never met me or know who I am, but based on a few things they read here & there & rumours, they have formulated a new personality for me & all the things I've never done they passionately speak about....I find it funny and entertaining now. I guess we can't spend our lives fighting rumours...we just have to work hard & then rumours get proven wrong on it's own as a by product. No point explaining repeatedly. Just do our work & show results!!"
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"There's a difference between patience and laziness. Patience comes from respect while laziness from disrespect of others."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Although outwardly we have so much, we have so many conveniences, inwardly we have become more unhappy, so, acquisition is not the secret to happiness. The more we get, the more we have, the more unhappy we become."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Before we experience any pain, we already had a fixed view of how things should be. When the experience we encounter contradicts our views, then the pain arises. The pain arises due to our fixed views not so much the experience itself. So the secret is changing the views. Re-educating ourselves on our views."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"You know since very young, for better or worse, I always did the things that others told me not to do. I wasn't really good at following the rules. Even now with how I share Dharma and my practice, I just do it the way I think it should be done but I do it sincerely. Not what others tell me what I can and can't do."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Love me or hate me, both are in my favor... If you love me, I'll always be in your heart... If you hate me, I'll always be in your mind."
~ William Shakespeare
"One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can't be kind, true, merciful, generous or honest."
~ Maya Angelou
Devotional Songs
Sung by Mary Fewel Tulin, these mystical songs in praise of the guru originate from the Sikh tradition. Yet, they are applicable to all traditions for those who want to venerate their guru.
The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them.
That's the business model.
How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying...
We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood.

Mishang asked:This year is good for me study in abroad. mewa3 the mirror of ocean fire dog and birth Buddha is vajrasattva.pastor answered:Dear Mishang,
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately our online calculator does not go into such specific details. You can read your Mewa number information and check if there is anything about studying there.
In general, however, you should think about things from a practical manner. And if you do go abroad for study, make the most use of it and study well. You can also engage in the practice of Dharma Protector such as Dorje Shugden to clear obstacles and create the best conditions for you. If this includes studying abroad and you create the causes for it such as proper planning, etc, then he can help to create the best outcome for you.
I hope this helps. Thank you.

Rojal Poudel asked:What practices should one do to experience and stabilize clear light in this lifetime so that one could effortlessly recognize it at the time of death?pastor answered:Dear Rojal,
Thank you for your question. Within the Gelug tradition, this is usually done in higher practices:
1. Within Highest Yoga Tantra practices such as Vajra Yogini, Yamantaka, Heruka Chakrasamvara, Guhyasamaja, Kalachakra, etc. For this you will need to have received the complete initiation of the deity, keep the associated vows and commitments and engage in the daily sadhana, etc. It is subsumed within the practices themselves.
2. You can also do it within Mahamudra practice. Within the Gelug tradition, this is also considered a higher practice and usually teachings are only given to those with at least one full Highest Yoga Tantra iniation.
I hope this answer helps. Thank you.

Lucy asked:why do insects bite me more than otherspastor answered:Dear Lucy,
Anything that happens in life from a Buddhist perspective is due to karma. So it would apply to this situation too. If the situtation is very bad, you can go to consult your doctor, especially if you have allergies. Thank you.

Dear Rinpoche,
Thank you for sharing this inspiring video.
Humbly ,
Chris

Dear Rinpoche,
Here are my thoughts after watching the clip:
Thank you for the post, Rinpoche.

Dearest Rinpoche,
Thank You for sharing with us. After replaying the video several of times, my answer are the followings –
1) The old lady could be related to the shop.
2) she might have gone through similar situation before, since nobody care about it and out of the anger she did it.
3) Out of compassion, she saved the situation.
Thank You Rinpoche, please rest well!
I continue filming??? mmm…
I am not sure how I would feel after that.
Dearest Rinpoche,
Yes it is back online again… fantastic!
It is like what Rinpoche always says… focus out!
Much love… Andrew
The video is working..thanks
Dearest Rinpoche,
The video is unfortunately no longer available for viewing as there have been copyright claims by ITN. Shame!

At her age, she can still run so fast! Wow amazing! Her actions showed that she is someone who cares for others, not thinking of her own safety and the danger or harm that could happened to her. It was a blessing that she was not harm in this incident.
She is a true hero…
I think her reaction was spontaneous. She saw some people committing a crime. For her it was wrong and she wanted to stop it. I’m glad there are still people like that.
WOW! She is just awesome.
With folded hands,
Siong Woan
Fearless. The Wonderwoman song fits!!
A few things came to mind…
1. I thought it could be her shop… lol! maybe it belongs to someone close to her
2. I wouldn’t have did what she did… they’re not harming anyone physically, so i’d probably call the police
3. The wonder women song really cracked me up ROFL, and
4. To all the people who send their parents to old folks home and who thinks old people are ‘useless’ to society… SHAME ON YOU
I can only speak for myself..
The older you are the clearer right and wrong becomes and the easier it is to act
WOW! That was incredible. Just goes to show that just because someone is old doesn’t mean they can’t do anything!
I think it just shows that you never too old, too late, too fragile, too powerless, to do something useful.
Thank you for sharing Rinpoche… hehe.. I love it.

This is a very brave old lady. I really respect her courage to fight off so many robbers while other younger fitter folk just walked by without a care. It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult. Kudo to this old lady for her bravery.
i love her.
This was played on CNN also…
