Dear friends around the world,

Cancer is one of the most feared diseases because it can stay dormant for decades until the condition turns critical. Although most cancers are now curable with chemotherapy and a series of modern treatments, it’s still better for us to take precautionary actions. With cancer rates rising around the world, the information gathered below may come in very useful and educational for some. Along with the treatment of cancer which arises due to karma, we can do some powerful purification practices, life extension practices and this will enhance very much the course of treatment we pursue medically. After all since all diseases arise due to karma, we need to ‘attack’ the disease both from the source (karma) and treated symptomatically by medicines and diet. If we attack diseases by a two pronged method of spiritual practice and modern medicine, our chances of survival will be higher. A qualified lama with the ability to do divinations will be worth visiting. He can prescribe the special pujas, meditations, retreats, yidam and practices we can do to attack this karma directly at the source. Since healing is our objective, then what is important is we grab any chance we can. Our lives are certainly worth it. Since during the treatment process of cancer we have so much free time on our hands, it would be wise to do spiritual practices recommended by a lama and not waste time. I ‘ve seen this many times and it works. Our life is certainly worth it. All sufferings arise from negative karma and all karma can be purified if not too late. There is no guarantee, but better than doing nothing or if we could do more than what we are doing, why not?

Please read this article carefully and share it with as many people as you can. May all beings be free of disease and sufferings.

15 Cancer Warning Signs People Assume Aren’t Dangerous Until It’s Too Late

For those of us who are aware of a certain type of cancer in our family medical history, we take great pains to watch for those specific signs. We work with a trusted doctor to monitor our health, and help prevent it as much as possible.

Yet, many people don’t notice the signs of a cancer they weren’t expecting. It also doesn’t help that the cancer treatment industry only promotes public awareness for a handful of cancer types. That’s why it’s important to know as much as possible about what your body does when it starts to respond to cancer cells.

Universal Cancer Signs and Symptoms

Every form of cancer comes with its own unique collection of signs and symptoms. It all depends on where the cancer cells are and how widespread they’ve become. However, there are certain symptoms that are common to many types of cancer, if not all.

Many of these are related to the way the human body responds to unwanted entities. Others are part of the effect that cancer cells can have on any region in the body. Take a look at some of the most general signs and symptoms that you’re fighting against cancer in your body.

1. Fatigue

Cancer cells sap your body’s energy supply. Fatigue is a natural result of your immune system’s response to fighting cancer cells. Some cancers also cause blood loss, producing the same effect. So, if you’re tired no matter how much you sleep, you should seek medical attention.

2. Weight Loss

If you suddenly drop pounds without reason (no lifestyle or diet changes, and no medication changes), it could be a sign of cancer. According to The American Cancer Society, most cancer patients experience this unexplained weight loss at some point.

3. Fever

Fever can be associated with cancers of the immune system, but it also is a sign that any type of cancer is beginning to spread to other areas of the body.

4. Pain

Persistent pain in any one area of the body (for example, back pain or headaches) can be associated with certain types of cancer. While different areas are related to different types of cancer, any chronic pain should be looked into.

5. Skin Changes

These aren’t just associated with skin cancers! Warning signs include finding darkened, yellowed, or reddened skin.

6. Unusual Hair Growth

Once again, this warning sign isn’t limited to skin cancers. What might be the biggest factor for cancer symptoms is a quick change in your body. If you notice something new, consult a doctor about it.

7. Changes in freckles or mole

Look out for a change in the color, size, or shape of your freckles and moles. Similar to other skin changes, you should consult a doctor when you notice anything different (especially if it’s also painful).

8. Indigestion

This might be one of the most misdiagnosed symptoms, since almost everyone experiences indigestion at some point. Nevertheless, it’s associated with cancers of the upper digestive tract. Look out for difficulty swallowing and stomach pain that doesn’t go away.

9. Lumps or thickening

If you notice a new lump, or an old one changing in size, see your doctor about it. Many types of cancer are associated with growths and tumors that can be felt through the skin.

10. Bleeding

There are several forms of cancer that cause unexpected bleeding. The source depends on the cancer type. Signs include coughing up blood, finding blood in stool or urine, or noticing bloody discharge (from somewhere on your skin or mucosal tissue).

11. Sores

Sores are associated with a few types of cancer including skin cancers, oral cancer, and cancer affecting the genitals. If you notice the appearance of a sore anywhere on your body, you should see your doctor about it.

12. Changes in your #1’s

If you need to take more trips to the bathroom than usual, or if you’re experiencing pain associated with urinating, it could be a sign of cancers affecting the bladder or prostate.

13. Changes in your #2’s

If you’re experiencing regular constipation or diarrhea, or if you have suddenly different stool size, it could be a sign of cancer in the lower digestive tract. The same goes if you experience pain.

14. Coughing

If you have a chronic cough or scratchy throat, it could be a warning of developing respiratory tract cancer, such as lung cancer or throat cancer. See your doctor when a cough doesn’t go away.

15. Unusual Lymph Nodes

We have multiple lymph nodes all over our bodies. Sometimes, they can feel swollen due to an infection. However, if you notice a lymph node that is uncomfortable, tender, or swollen for several weeks, you should consult your doctor about it.

Special Note

If you suspect that the symptoms you’re experiencing are signs of cancer, it’s important to seek medical attention as soon as possible. The sooner you identify and treat cancer, the greater chance you have of beating it before it spreads to other areas of the body (no matter what treatment method you and your doctor decide on).

These Foods Make Cancer Cells Grow in Your Body! STOP Eating Them RIGHT NOW!

You need to consume healthy food and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Today all the food that we consume is GMO produced and is cancerogenous. You need to choose your food wisely.

Canned Tomatoes

Bisphenol–A or BPA is a chemical that is consisted in the lining of canned foods. Canned tomatoes are not any exception. The tomatoes are acidic in this form and should be avoided.

Instead of canned tomatoes, you can buy glass bottles or cook crisp.

Farmed Salmon

Fish is one of the healthiest foods that nature provides us. Farmed salmon is a type of fish you should remove from your menu. The salmon fish is contaminated with a great number of chemicals, pesticides, antibiotics, and other cancer–causing agents. You shouldn’t buy salmon that is red because it is not its natural color.

Processed Meats

Processed meats contain numerous additives and chemicals, together with sodium nitrates that make them look fresh and appealing and are hazardous.

Soda Pop

Studies show that people who drink more than one soda each day had a higher danger of stroke, than persons who didn’t consume soft drinks, according to one of the latest researches published in the American Journal of Nutrition. Soda pop drinks are full of sugar and have so much calories, responsible for weight gain.

Microwave Popcorn

Microwave popcorn has a chemical called Propyl gallate. It causes skin rashes and stomach issues, as well as soybean oil that is a GMO product, and many other additives.

Foods highly salted, pickled or smoked

Those types of food contain preservatives and are cured by utilization of nitrites or nitrates.

Smoking food brings many chemicals and loses the natural compounds from the food. Tar is a well-known cancer-causing agent. Salami, for example, meats, bacon, bologna, and sausage are extremely high in salt and fat.

GMOs

Genetically modified organisms or GMOs are foods that have been grown with chemicals and modified by chemicals.

Potato Chips

Potato chips are really high in calories and fat. They have various additives and colors, as well as artificial flavors. The potato chips are fried in really high temperatures in order to look firm, but that causes them to make a substance that is known as acrylamide, a carcinogen agent also found in cigarettes.

Refined Sugars

Refined sugars increase insulin levels.

German Otto Warburg, the Nobel laureate in medicine (1931), primarily found that cancers and tumors both use sugars in order to “feed” themselves and therefore, to increase in size. And with it increase the number of cancer patients.

Red Meat

Red meat is the leading cause for colon cancer. A research made in the USA followed about 150,000 people between the ages of 50 – 74 showed that a long term utilization of red meat extended the amount of colon malignancy set up in the subjects concentrated on.

Avoiding these foods and buy organic and healthy food to live longer and happier!

Thank you for sharing this useful information. May this post will beneficial to many others and prevent from the cancer disease. I think the real problem is we do not know the consumption of right kind of the food. Our fast paced and materialistic lifestyle that we are living in that we tend to look for convenience instead of quality choices .

We should educate the younger generation on the importance on taking healthy meals and avoid snacking as they will face a very bad consequences if they are not led in the correct path otherwise this will deteriorate their health in long run.

I believe we will be able to live a much better and healthier life by following healthy eating habits.

Thank you Tsem Rinpoche for sharing this article on cancer disease and how to prevent them. The food that we are eating and the environment we are living in are giving us more problems than before even though we might be living more comfortably now. We must really take care of what we are eating to maintain our health. But what is interesting to know from this article is that cancer can also be prevented or cured by doing spiritual practice.

Whatever we are going through, the good or bad experiences are due to our karmas. The manifestation of cancer is also due to our karmas, the food and environment are the conditions to make the cancer karma ripens. Therefore, the root cause is really our karma. When the cancer disease manifest, we can deal with it with medical treatment and also spiritual practice.

If we have a guru, he will be able to help us by prescribing a practice for us to do. If we don’t have a guru, we can always do Dorje Shugden practice to ask for help. Dorje Shugden will somehow lead us to the right person. Dorje Shugden has performed many miracles, we just have to trust him and follow where he leads us to.

    Dear Rinpoche

Thank you for this insightful article. Several of my friends/ relatives or people that I knew have been diagnosed with cancer at relatively young age (in their 40s). Cancer caused a lot of suffering to those suffering from the disease and to their loved ones. It is painful to see our loved ones going through chemotherapy/ radiation therapy sessions and experiencing the numerous side effects of cancer medication.

The information on how to prevent cancer as described in the above article will help many from experiencing such suffering.

In addition to the above information, I would recommend most people to be vegetarian and abstain from eating meat and not to create the cause for sickness or short life.

It is very good to know about the symptoms of cancer, and by knowing about that cancer earlier could just save us.
may this knowledge be of infinite benefit to many sentient beings.

  6. Yvonne Goh on Nov 30, 2016 at 2:41 pm

It’s good to know about symptoms of cancer so we can seek early treatment. To prevent it would be the best and knowing what to avoid eating is a good start. Do u have the list of food we must eat to prevent cancer?

  7. Pastor Antoinette on Nov 9, 2016 at 4:01 am

Cancer is unfortunately very common and everyone knows someone who has suffered from it. This article points out how to help yourself and others to discover cancer at an early stage.

We can prevent this scary illness by adapting a healthy lifestyle and staying away from unhealthy food and drinks as pointed out above.

Purification practices are another important help either if we are sick already or it helps to prevent karma that we have created to ripen because we purify it.

Here are some articles you can find on purification practices:

    An important purification practice:

Remember that you don’t need to be Buddhist to ask the Buddha for help. A Buddha will help all sentient beings.

Thank you Rinpoche for this article. It serves as a reminder for me as what’s not to put/buy/eat in our daily meals. Should have bought bottled tomato puree rather than canned ones for cooking spaghetti. Besides, potato chips are still one of our favourites. Didn’t know that refined sugar is more harmful than the coarse ones.

Thanks to you Pastor Antoinette for making an effort putting some of the links of purification practices here. I find it very convenient for me and I do hope others will find these beneficial as well. Although changing diets and watching the source of our meals are very important but I placed a lot of confident in attacking the cause of it, which are our latent negative karmas, waiting to be ripened at anytime soon. Lately, have to admit that I am quite lazy to do even these practices, what’s more sadhana. Most of the time, it was done more so as to fulfill my daily commitment. I have to step up and put more effort in these practices. Cancer is what I am afraid of. Having cancer will not only burdened oneself but family and friends too. Besides, by that time, I am very sure I cannot even do any Buddhist practices as I will be concerned for my own suffering only. This is why, we are being reminded to do it when we can, and do it now! There are three types of laziness. One is pure laziness where we just do not want to do anything, second is due to self unworthy and third, busy for wordly things.

Once again, thank you Rinpoche for this article.

  8. Pavara Lam on Nov 8, 2016 at 10:05 pm

Currently cancer is very common disease and right now there is no treatment that will have a 100% chance of curing cancer. So instead of doing nothing and eating carcinogens every day, why not cut down the amount of carcinogens that you take in? The carcinogens usually come from meat… Why? Because the meat that you eat comes from animals in ‘factories’ which basically means that the animals are given all sorts of hormones and chemicals surprisingly those chemicals and hormones end up in our stomach after we ate the meat, and as it happens some of those chemicals and hormones are carcinogens.
So since we can never be really sure which meat contains harmful carcinogens the best option is to refrain from eating any of them

I really hope that people will start to cut down meat intake as it is harming the earth as well as themselves. And hopefully when that is done the world will heal as well as the other sentient beings living on planet earth.

  9. Colin Tan on Oct 31, 2016 at 9:47 am

Cancer has become a very common disease now and there are numerous types of cancer treatments available. But the real success rate of each treatment is still the myth to most of us and an effective treatment for one patient may not be effective for another. We often take things for granted, for example our health. We forget that this body is impermanent and will vanish more quickly if we don’t take good care of it. We consciously or unconsciously consume lots of unhealthy junk food just because of certain taste we crave for or because of conveniences.

We need to cut down the intake of carcinogenic processed meat, canned & preserved food. We should also learn to listen to our body signals for any unusual symptoms & act promptly to cure the illnesses. Most of the cancers were diagnosed at the very late stage due to our ignorance to the signals the bodies sent to us, e.g. fever, pain, fatigue, coughing, etc. We treat all this as common illnesses & ignore them. The ignorance eventually leads to the accumulation of toxin in the body and manifested as cancer. It’s highly possible to change our lifestyle to prevent cancer in life, e.g. consume healthy food, exercise, allow quiet moment to listen to our body or meditate to bring peace to our mind & destress.

I am so lucky to have known Tsem Rinpoche and many times he helps people with cancer to do divinations and prescribe pujas and all to help to cure them.

Thank you very much for sharing this article that applies to all of us. There are many causes of cancer in this modern world, food is definitely one of them. The food today not only had degenerated in nutrition values but also contain harmful components. Many food are genetically modify or chemically produced which our body is not designed to process. As a result of years of consumption, the negative impact manifests in forms of illness like cancer. Therefore, identifying and stop consuming the type of food that contain harmful elements to our body is the important first step towards cancer prevention.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing with us this invaluable report on cancer. It was reported somewhere in England by the McMillian Cancer Support in 2013 that a staggering 47% of the population would get cancer by 2020 which means that it is probable that one in two of us would be exposed to it.
Much research has been done since 1971 when President Nixon instituted legislation on cancer research called the National Cancer Act and today they have not found any cures or anywhere nearer to a cure.
I was in the health industry for a short time and have come across many cancer patients that came to us for aid we advise them to try many alternative modalities but unfortunately most eventually passed on because they came in too late. However, those who are younger and are caught with this dreadful disease their chances of survival apparently are better than many other aged people. Their bodies are very strong and can be subjected to chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
Many years ago I was exposed to the health industry and through my interaction with some of them I would advise them to go for integrative treatments rather than rely solely on allopathic modalities particularly the older people. Cancer is pretty much a virus induced disease and when caught with it our body becomes very poisonous and when chemotherapy is introduced it is adding other foreign substances whereby our body finds it hard to assimilate. In the process good cells get eliminated as well as the cancer cells leaving our immune systems pretty much to other viruses and bacteria infestation.
On a spiritual front I strongly believe that if we are sincere and invoke the help of the deities they would always lend a helping hand but it all depends on how heavy our karma is as well as the pledges we make when seeking their intervention.

The fact that Rinpoche chose to share this information with us, I am very grateful. It shows care and love. I am sure that many people would have never known this information if it wasn’t for this post. I was informed that the best way to beat cancer is to treat it early before its too late. And by knowing this information that is possible.

I think after reading the article, the most interesting and surprising thing to me was that potato chips could actually contribute to the build up of cancer. Who would have thought that something to harmless and tasty could do such a thing. I need to watch out with my snack choices from now on..

  13. Love Meditating on Sep 28, 2016 at 9:42 pm

Very informative post! Thanks a lot. In my opinion, it will be much harder to get clean food in the future as probably all importers and producers will look only on money and how they can do savings – using chemicals keeps it “fresh” for a long time.
Anyhow, it’s not that “easy” to not eat anything from the list. Salted stuff and chips to the movie is a perfect snack 😉

  14. JP on Sep 26, 2016 at 9:15 am

Nowadays, when I hear of someone’s death, it’s most likely due to cancer. Cancer has become so common that one wonders the reason for this. Ultimately, it’s due to the persons’s karma. But on a mundane level, I believe it attributes to the pollution, our lifestyle, food and beverage consumption.

Eating or consuming something natural and free of chemicals and pesticides is a luxury nowadays especially in developed countries. Large corporations are so driven by their greed and governments are not placing enough emphasis on the quality of food produced.

Being aware of cancer symptoms and going for regular check ups are the least we can do. Knowing how fragile our life is, it’s best to invest some time in our spiritual practice because the results from our spiritual practice stay with us throughout our future lives. Everything else that we work for stays behind.

  15. Adeline Tan on Sep 26, 2016 at 12:42 am

The number of people suffering from cancer is on the rise now, one in every five people will get cancer according to the oncologists,it sounds very scary. So we have to be very careful with our diet and live a healthy lifestyle. What Rinpoche wrote in this blog is very true and informative, even myself need to take precaution to prevent its recurrence.

  16. Echeah on Sep 25, 2016 at 7:54 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for the information.
According to the NCPA, everyone will eventually die of cancer if we live long enough, provided we don’t die of something else first. As people age, their cells amass more potentially cancerous mutations. There are many more cancer causing factors these days compared to days of yore, with more newly developed chemicals, drugs, energy sources, radiation, pollution. Due to mankind’s new lifestyles and conveniences, there is this downside that we cannot escape. For everything that we develop, there is bound to be waste. We are bombarded in every direction, how can we escape as long as we are living on this planet?
Knowing that we will all eventually die, how we go is determined by our backlog of karma. While we are still hale and hearty, that is when we should put in all efforts to purify that negative karma with purification practices and antidotes before they ripen on us in full force.

  17. Vinnie Tan on Sep 25, 2016 at 2:58 am

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article with all of us here.

What is stated in the article about the symptoms of cancer are actually something that almost everyone will experience in one way or another. Yet, it is these things that we will just brush it off and think that we are fine and there is nothing wrong with our body system and choose to ignore it till it gets chronic. What we fail to remember is that, our body will only give us problems when there is an issue to it. Otherwise, it will be in the best state for us to do more and perform even better. When our body is stopping us from doing the things that we are able to do, it is usually a sign that something is wrong and we should check it out.

What I find really scary is that how much things that are around us have cancer causing agents yet we just pass it off as something that is alright to use and eat. The list above shows the kinds of food that we eat that will cause harm to our bodies, but there are products that we use daily that also cause cancer. I find it really scary how the number of cancer patients is on the increasing rate, yet the MNCs are not doing anything much to help us with the items that we use. They just earn their fortune and pass things that they sell us as healthy and safe to use when it is not.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article with all of us here. Through the article, it also makes me think about the kind of actions we should be doing now in order to avoid creating the cause to have cancer in the future.

Nowadays, cancer is very common word to many people yet not many people know about the spiritual practices which might heal the cancer patient and some are fully recovered. In Buddhism, we believe on karma which is part of cause to cancer or diseases. Some Cancer patient are very panic and pessimistic, this will not heal cancer patient but will make them worst.
By doing spiritual practice and undergo medical treatment in the same time,it will purify our bad karma and this will also help the cancer patient to be optimistic and always in positive mind.
Thanks Rinpoche for sharing this informative write up.This really help many people to be optimistic when cancer attack them.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article on guidelines to help us prevent from cancer arising. As Fong mentioned, doctors says everyone already has cancer cells in the bodies but due to strong immune system, the cancerous cells are kept at bay. So Rinpoche’s advice to eat healthy is what we need, especially by cutting out meat and its by-products. Firstly so much chemicals had been pumped into the animals to fatten them, to keep them healthy and after killing to preserve the meat. Secondly, with eating meat, the heavy burden karma of killing is collected and will keep on collecting as long as we eat meat. When this karma ripens we will never know what arises.

My paternal side had bad track record of cancer sufferers, grandparents, uncle and my dad. Medical science says with this bad track record, probability of other family members getting cancer is very high. Hmm so I will do better to heed Rinpoche’s advice on purification practices. My advice would be to start our practice today, take Rinpoche’s precious teachings to heart and practice to transform our minds in preparation for our next life. Rinpoche had gone through much to bring the precious Dharma teachings to us so don’t waste this golden opportunity and throw your good merits away.

  20. Pastor David Lai on Sep 24, 2016 at 2:51 am

My dad has cancer and quite a lot of other people too. I am sure everyone who reads this knows of a loved one or a friend or acquaintance that is suffering or had died from cancer. Cancer is the number 1 killer these days for obvious reasons of our polluted environment and the chemicals used in processed food that we eat. We can drastically reduce the chances by eating healthy right now but it still does not remove the chances completely.

Purification practices especially to do with the body is powerful way of prevention that we can do on the spiritual side. In Buddhism, we believe to heal, we should remove the cause for sicknesses and diseases by purification practices. There are many practices including prostration in conjunction of 35 Confessional Buddhas, Vajrasattva and so forth. Even Dorje Shugden has a powerful aspect meant for healing and pacification of diseases and sicknesses – Shize. Therefore, the most effective means of prevention would be to employ both lifestyle and eating habit change along with spiritual purification practices.

  21. Fong on Sep 21, 2016 at 5:20 pm

Some scientists say that the cancer cells exist in all of us. It is how healthy we are and how strong is our immune system to combat and keep these mutant cells in check.

So, I believe very much in what Rinpoche says here that we have to eat healthy, do our part in having regular health checks to catch any illness early, and do our spiritual practice. This is to help our body fight the illness.

As a Buddhist, I will heed Rinpoche’s advice to do powerful purification practice. As Rinpoche said, “All sufferings arise from negative karma and all karma can be purified if not too late.”

Thank you, Rinpoche for your kindness and care in sharing this article to calm our mind, and give us a course of action to take to help ourselves.

With Bodhichitta nature of great compassion and care, HE the 25th Tsem Rinpoche has done research for us to have information and knowledge to arrest this killer disease.

As suffering of all nature is the arising of negative karma, Rinpoche has also kindly recommend the spiritual aspect besides the normal medical ones to arrest the spread of this dreadful disease.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this informative artilce with us. Cancer is so common nowadays and is number one killer.Hence prevention is better then it is too late and actions taken to lower the risk is very important. This can include maintaining a healthy lifestyle, avoiding exposure to known cancer causing substance,, taking medicines or vaccines that can prevent cancer from developing. When any family members had History of cancer its very important to monitor our health by going for annual medical checkup and routine blood tests.Since all diseases arise due to karma related we need attack diseases by spiritual practice and modern medicine, our chances of survival will be higher.
Its important to engage a highly spiritual Lama in spiritual treatment to purify the negative karma as soon as possible, not to waste time.
We can attack this negative karma source with special pujas, meditations, retreats, yidam and practices, Its better then doing nothing.
    Thanks Rinpoche again.

Thank you Rinpoche for this most informative article on cancer prevention. The warning signs of cancer are important to take note of and pay serious attention to. As Rinpoche says, prevention is better than cure, we should take precautionary measures.

Most important of all is to tackle the ‘ root cause’ of disease as well as address it symptomatically by medicines and diet. All disease and suffering arises from negative karma; so we have to attack this root cause . Along with the treatment of cancer which arises due to karma, we can do some powerful purification practices, life extension practices and this will enhance very much the course of treatment we pursue medically. If we attack diseases by a two pronged method of spiritual practice and modern medicine, our chances of survival will be higher.
Getting a cure and prolonging our precious human life is very important.

We can visit a qualified Lama who can prescribe the special pujas, meditations, retreats, yidam and practices we can do to ‘attack’ this karma directly at the source. During the period of medical treatment which can be very long, we can carry out all the purification and other practices recommended in the divination. Hence, we are working spiritually on a long term cure while at the same time, we seek medical treatment.

As negative karma , cause of suffering and diseases, can be purified if it is not too late, we should not hesitate to do purification practices, however extensive they have to be. There are many instances of people who have been cured, and their lives prolonged, by using the two-pronged method.

  26. Pastor Patsy on Sep 17, 2016 at 11:33 pm

Thank you, Rinpoche, for sharing this informative fact.

Cancer is so common nowadays. The food we eat, the stress and the busy lifestyle are some factors causing cancer. Using microwaves, mobile phones, computers generate radioactive and we are exposed to these.

We should keep a healthy balanced lifestyle, physically and spiritually. It is due to our karma that we become sick so while we can, we should engage in dharma practices to generate merits. Meat is not only bad for our bodies, but by not eating meat we are saving lives which will create the cause for us to have a healthy and long life.

  27. Mingwen on Sep 17, 2016 at 10:41 pm

Not only that our artificial diet will bring us cancers, the way and places we are living are factors which lead us to the road of dead too. For instance, most of us who are living in the urban are not able to live without access to internet and electronic devices. These products are producing a lot of radioactive, hence, we have all sort of problems with our bodies and minds. Etc., sleeping problems, mental illness, stress, and more.

Indeed, prevention is better than cure. By doing prevention and do not lose to the laziness within us could save our lives. We should manage our time to have healty diet, exercise, spiritual pratice, always think positively and do not shut down our mind when we face problems.

This is great info in preventing cancer. Cancer is so common now a days. So many people around us be it family, friends or colleagues have some how experienced with it.

Some survived, some not and some still fighting against it. So why not act before it’s too late. We should take preventive steps to avoid cancer by having a balance life style and eat healthily. We are responsible for our own action.

So start today, take preventive action.

  30. Paul Yap on Sep 17, 2016 at 11:53 am

Cancer has become increasingly common nowadays. Its like almost someone in your family or close friends have gotten cancer and or died because of cancer. Cancer has become the biggest silence killer in this century. This sickness has definitely to do with what we are eating and the environment we live in today, and our past life karma. While we are still healthy, we should eat healthy food, be a vegetarian, and engaged in purification practices to generate merits. This will help us to lead a healthy and happy life. What’s the point of working non-stop day and night living a stressful life and at the old age died of sickness?

  31. Valentina Suhendra on Sep 17, 2016 at 10:35 am

    Dear Rinpoche

Thank you for this very useful post. Within the past few years, I have heard people that I know is suffering from cancer. Their worry and fear really pain me. But yet for some of them, when they are healthy, they seemed to not care about what they eat or whether they kill or hurt animals or other beings to satisfy their taste buds which is the cause for sickness and short life.

I wish people will take more care and responsibilities to tackle the root cause of all this suffering.

    Valentina

Due to the Dorje Shugden controversy many practitioners are still oppressed due to their choice of religion. Yet there are complaisant, and obliging people too who barely understand the situation, poorly informed of the issue and behave in a way they knew what’s going on regarding the ban on Dorje Shugden. There are many good bits of wisdom and worthy words in this article. Well-intentioned people make mistakes, lots of them. Mistakes must be expected and being held accountable for. Oppression will still exist no matter how compassionate sharing with others. If we are willing to risk making mistakes we can still do something. We must constantly try to find out ways to use our privilege to push forward the voice of the oppressed. Do not allow ourselves to be immobilized by lack of knowledge.

Inspiring read of Scott Neeson a most influential person in the movie industry, walked away from Hollywood to start a charity. Left everything he had built, been famous, wealthy and living a life of luxury for the sake of those children living in the slump in Cambodia. He decided to leave Hollywood behind and moved to Cambodia and founded Cambodian Children’s Fund . It was on a trip to Phnom Penh, Scott saw hundreds of children and their families living and working on the Steung Meanchey garbage dump, one of the most toxic environments. It was a moment that changed his life, helping thousands of vulnerable children and their families escape a world of forced labour, child trafficking and desperate poverty into safety and independence. From being a self-serving person, to an extremely giving person truly inspiring. Scott has been living in Phnom Penh where his journey still captivates, inspires and bewilders people from all over the world.
Thank you Rinpoche for this inspiring post

Vairochana Shugden, pacifying form of Dorje Shugden is revered by many for his ability to purify one’s negative karma, pacify natural disasters and calamities. And is especially efficacious for overcoming illness and disease as well. Shize or Vairochana Shugden is the emanation of Dorje Shugden who embodies the enlightened activity of pacification. Shize’s practice is very effective in helping us to receive prophecies or develop clairvoyance. Shize’s practice is excellent for calming ourselves down and increasing our merits. His practice results in our minds becoming much happier and being alleviated from depressions. Wow we can also rely on Shize’s practice to overcome serious illnesses. It can also be engaged where the area, there are a lot of natural disasters. On the whole its practice has many benefits. When we do the practice correctly, with good motivation, Shize will bless and guide us.
Thank you Rinpoche for this great teachings on Shize who is a direct emanation of Dorje Shugden who is none other than the enlightened Manjushri.

Interesting article. I never thought meditation can help oneself quit smoking without consumption of medication or drugs. According to an article in The Buddhist Review, not smoking is a result of developing calm and reducing clinging through authentic Dharma practice. Mindfulness-based interventions can help people learn to pay attention to and work with negative feelings, cravings, and other symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. By focusing on our breathing the mind becomes calm and single-pointed. Many are aware of the health risks and addictive properties of nicotine that are harmful. Buddhism is very effective to inspire transformation in people. Good read of how a Yale psychiatrist bringing together neuroscience and Buddhist practices to help people overcome their addictions. Thank you Dr. Judson for the great research work.

Trode-khangsar a 400 year old Dorje Shugden Temple in Lhasa, had me having great memories. Having a privileged to visit it in May 2019,with my Dharma brothers and sisters. It such a Holy Temple with great stories behind it . Located in Lhasa, that is over 300 years old which is dedicated to the controversial protector deity Dorje Shugden. The Temple is a Gelugpa monastery of Tibetan Buddhism, built in the 17th century by the Fifth Dalai Lama. The Great 5th Dalai Lama composed a praise to Dorje Shugden and created a statue to honour and recognize him as a Dharma protector as apology. Trode Khangsar itself is now registered as a national heritage memorial. That’s awesome as more and more people will get to know about this Holy temple. Merely by looking at those fading murals and Holy statutes is a blessing for all who came to visit this Trode-khangsar. A place worth visiting.

The concept of rebirth has a long association with Buddhism. Rebirth in Buddhism refers to the teaching that the actions of a sentient being lead to a new existence after death, in an endless cycle called saṃsāra. One will begins a new life in a new body that may be human, animal or spiritual depending on the moral quality of the previous life’s actions. What they are reborn as depends on their actions in their previous life rather kamma. As a Buddhist we should believe in rebirth but still many people don’t . Buddha taught us that choices of rebirth make a difference and can shape many lifetimes. Buddhists believe that nothing that exists is permanent and everything will ultimately cease to be. There is a belief in rebirth

Against the odds two inspiring nuns fought all the way to become ordained, fighting for their rights to practice Buddhism . Interesting read of how they went through , bringing equality for women in Thailand. Buddhism is the predominant religion in Thailand. Officially, only men can become monks and novices in Thailand under a Buddhist order. The country does not recognize female monks or novices. In recent years, more Thai Buddhist women seeking to become full-fledged female monks, have been defying the tradition getting ordained overseas, in Sri Lanka or India. Buddhist women have been fighting for years for equality and social acceptance in Thailand. They just can’t be ordained by Thai monks. Ven. Dhammananda, 68 year old former university lecturer and activist became Thailand’s first Theravadin bhikkhuni after going the odds. Inspiring read biography on Ven. Dhammananda and Ven. Dr. Lee. They had gone through great hardships, discrimination and against the many odds in bringing equality to women in Buddhism in Thailand.

The unseen things are spiritual realities that are eternal and invisible to our physical eye. There are many forces and phenomena that are not visible to the naked eye. There are many things that humans cannot see yet there are some could see. For what is can be seen is only. Things do exist even we can’t see, believing their existence is our choice. Things that we can’t see in the world opens up a curiosity and exploration by some. Whether through scientific inquiry, or spiritual exploration, the pursuit of knowledge about the unseen can lead to profound insights about ourselves and the universe.
Malacca City is the historic capital of the coastal state of Malacca, in Malaysia serving as a link between east and west for over 500 years. Famous for breath-taking sights with rich heritage, ancient dark culture and history with many old centuries buildings with an interesting past and a colourful ghost story. For that reason alone it is worth visiting as is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site owing to its well-preserved historical center. There’s many historical mansions been passed down generation to generations and with many ghostly sighting by the locals and visitors. There’s the reason many unseen beings loitering and attached to these places. Such an interesting and incredibly creepy watching the video in this blog host by Li Kim. Li Kim had done a great work all along with her team to share with readers about our historic Malacca .

Vajrayogini symbolizes the wisdom of all enlightened beings and embodies the impulse of inspiration that drives the Buddhas to attain the perfect enlightenment. Vajrayogini is one of the most effective practices for people today. We can make offerings such as gold or jewel offerings and so on. The offering of gold helps us to collect merits, spiritual attainments, gain a deeper connection to Vajrayogini. It also creates the causes to attain a Buddha’s body.
Make Offerings to Vajrayogini in Kechara Forest Retreat at Bentong is such an meritorious way for us to collect merits. All thanks to our Guru having conceptualised the idea of having a statue of Vajrayogini for everyone . Recitation of Vajrayogini mantra can be a powerful tool for self-transformation, healing and liberation from samsara.

Thank you, Rinpoche for sharing this insightful article. Life is short, and if we enjoy every moment of every day, then we will be happy no matter what happens or what changes along the way. What ever matter to us at the time of death is nothing. In the end, it’s not the years in our life that count it’s what you leave behind that matters. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.Death is the golden key that opens the palace of eternity. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time. Learning Dharma and practicing dharma is the our choice that’s matter. Some of the key points to take notes, read, study the Lam Rim and apply it, engage in Sadhana daily and consistently. No one will help us at the moment of death but ourselves. Spiritual practicing is the best choice.

Well the size of Buddha statues in Tibetan Buddhism is important because it represents the Buddha’s immense ability and vast knowledge. Hence the Buddha statues hold the symbol of satisfaction within, peace and happiness. They are a symbol of inspiration for every human being. When we focus on the Buddha statues, it gives us inner peace that our mind, our heart and our soul gets enlightened.
We have are so fortunate seeing and circumambulating where the 9-foot Dorje Shugden statue and with 500 mantra stones engraved with Dorje Shugden’s sacred mantra. As Rinpoche had said before the bigger and more Buddha statues helps in planting seeds of enlightenment in people’s mind-streams. It also help us to generate as much merit and purify as much karma as possible. Merely by seeing all those big statues at Kechara Forest Retreat is a blessing.
    Thank you Rinpoche.

The 4th Tagpu Pemavajra Jampel Tenpai Ngodrub, most commonly known as Tagpu Dorje Chang, was a highly accomplished yogi Highly attained lama who had many authentic visions of the Buddhas and even travel astrally to receive direct teachings from them. His recognised line of incarnations stem all the way back to the 14th Century. He is generally regarded as such amongst Gelug lineage holders. He spent most of his time in a hermitage located above Sera Monastery, gave teachings and transmitted many vital practices and lineages to his foremost student Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche. Besides receiving the complete instructions of Dorje Shugden’s practice, Tagpu Dorje Chang had many other mystical experiences throughout his lifetime. Interesting read biography of a highly accomplished mahasiddha lama.

n Tibetan culture, it is a popular and customary practice for families to invite monks to perform spiritual ceremonies such as Trusol rituals. The monks have had the opportunity to offer such ceremonies for individuals or their families. Such ceremonies purify the elements of the environment which helps those living or visiting there to experience good health, success and well-being. The sacred ritual of ‘bathing’ the Buddhas and consecration through which negativities, sicknesses and obstacles will be cleared. Where by filling those areas with positive energies and good vibes through this Trusol consecration puja. Water is an essential part of this puja and symbolises the cleansing of all negativities and impurities. Through this puja it also pacifies local deities and other unseen beings in the surrounding areas. We are indeed fortunate that Tsem Rinpoche has taught Kecharians this practice and it has benefited many.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
