Dear friends around the world,

I have always respected and looked up to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Although we may not share the same religious beliefs, there is no doubt that His Holiness is an accomplished master. I really like his vast knowledge and his sharing of it.

His Holiness teaches us not to be fixated on labels, shapes and species; we may not look the same but we are all sentient beings of this great earth and galaxy. Therefore, it’s very important to always keep an open mind and be respectful of our surroundings. His Holiness’ advice is very wise and compassionate indeed. I hope His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be healthy and live a long time. I hope very much His Holiness the Dalai Lama will find a way to reach China and become friends so he can visit Tibet. China and Dalai Lama becoming friends and working together for the betterment of the Tibetan people would be so beneficial. I look for that. I respect China and her extremely deep culture very much. I have always have deep fascination for China, her country and culture since very young. I respect and love His Holiness the Dalai Lama very much. I will never waver in my love for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

I hope you enjoy the article and do let me know what you think about it in the comments section below.

The Dalai Lama Explains What Extraterrestrial Bodies Look Like

ARJUN WALIA | NOVEMBER 17, 2015

“There is abundant evidence that we are being contacted, that civilizations have been monitoring us for a very long time.” – Dr. Brian O’Leary, Former NASA Astronaut and Princeton Physics Professor

“Yes, it’s both. It’s both literally, physically happening to a degree; and it’s also some kind of psychological, spiritual experience occurring and originating perhaps in another dimension. And so the phenomenon stretches us, or it asks us to stretch to open to realities that are not simply the literal physical world, but to extend to the possibility that there are other unseen realities from which our consciousness, our, if you will, learning processes over the past several hundred years have closed us off.” –John Mack

Dr. John E. Mack, a Harvard University psychologist and Pulitzer prize winner, was interviewed for the documentary film about the Dalai Lama, called “The Dalai Lama Renaissance.” In the film he speaks about his conversations with the Dalai Lama about extraterrestrials and his experience with them.

It might be more of an awareness that the universe is filled with beings of all kinds. In fact when we were here he classified intelligent life in the cosmos in three categories: beings like us that have form that are embodied. Second were beings that have form where they’re not embodied, and the third is beings that have no form.

This was very interesting to me, as I recently wrote an article depicting what types of beings are most commonly reported by contactees, abductees, and experiencers. In it I provided a declassified FBI document that discusses similar things of interest regarding ET bodies and craft. You can view that document here:

It’s important to note that Mack believed the ET phenomenon was, without question, real, and so did his funders (which included Lawrence Rockefeller, to give an example. I’ve written two in-depth articles on Dr. Mack, there you can find out more information about him and the types of cases he investigated:

“Some of what people report as UFOs are extraterrestrial (ET) vehicles. Some of those extraterrestrial vehicles actually have ET crews, and some of those ET crews catch and release humans.” — Dr. Don Donderi, a retired McGill University Professor of 40 years in the Department of Psychology

Here is a video of the Dalai Lama sharing his views on extraterrestrial contact, basically saying that we should look upon them as we look upon ourselves — another equal form of life.

Or view the video on the server at:

What are your thoughts on the Dalai Lama’s statements?

“There is a serious possibility that we are being visited and have been visited for many years by people from outer space, from other civilizations. . . . [and] it behooves us, in case some of these people in the future or now should turn hostile, to find out who they are, where they come from, and what they want. This should be the subject of rigorous scientific investigation and not the subject of ‘rubbishing’ by tabloid newspapers.” —Lord Admiral Hill-Norton, Former Chief of Defence Staff, 5 Star Admiral of the Royal Navy, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee

A number of different ‘faiths’ or religions have different depictions of extraterrestrial and/or extradimensional beings. It’s not really clear (to me) under what definition of ours (humanity) Buddhism would fall under, but the Dalai Lama, along with other texts and various teachings are no doubt aware of the fact that there our cosmos is teeming with all kinds of life.

The number of habitable worlds in our galaxy alone exists in the tens of billions, and that’s on the lower end of the scale. And the number of habitable galaxies we can see apart from our own is approximately one hundred billion. That means there are billions of planets within each galaxy, in a sea of galaxies, which seems to be infinite — that we are aware of. To ponder the idea that intelligent extraterrestrial life might exist out there in all that endless possibility only seems natural. How could there not be?

“If we looked down at the world from space, we would not see any demarcations of national boundaries. We would simply see one small planet, just one.” —The Dalai Lama

In fact, the general consensus within the scientific community is that we are not alone, and a growing number of academics agree that intelligent extraterrestrial life has already visited this planet and continues to do so. Perhaps this is why, last year, NASA teamed up with the Library of Congress to bring together scientists and theologians to discuss the idea of extraterrestrial contact and its implications.

“An extraterrestrial influence is investigating our planet. Something is monitoring the planet and they are monitoring it very cautiously.” —2008 Presidential Candidate Mike Gravel

I apologize if you’ve already come across the above information, I just wanted to make it clear to new readers that we are dealing with a very real phenomenon.

Very many thanks to you and His Holiness Dalailama for this article . It took many years to bring this topic to light of the day and I always wondered if anyone from Tibetan monks and long term meditators would be willing to discuss it .
I’ve had first hand experience of ancient craft landing on this planet who carried our advanced extraterrestrial predecessors who then became stranded here for millions of years , at the ‘cancelled’ Kalachakra initiation at Bodhgaya 2002. I was in long meditation reatreat at that time and studied with the Namgyal monastery in Dharamsala as independent student . It then took me many years to get back to Europe and computerised before I ever dared to report some of the data . You can find them if you search for the Bodhgaya ET Event Report or the Bases 16 …

In shortest ..”we are those we’ve been waiting for”.

We are sovereign , free beings composed of Light , Cosmic Intelligence with origin far in Space .

Thanks again for sharing . Love and freedom to All Beings

After I read This post I was puzzled by how we should treat the extraterrestrial and how real they are. We should treat every single being fairly from spirits to extraterrestrial (If they ever come of course). Thank you for sharing.

The Dalai Lama is always very cool, to share his thoughts. I agree fully that this universe is too vast, and unending to not contain life other than our very own planet.
I do wonder how will human beings transition to know and acknowledge the existence of aliens.

  5. Pastor Han Nee on Nov 15, 2016 at 4:57 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this post on how the Dalai Lama views extraterrestrial beings.

Almost all of us accept that intelligent extraterrestrial life does exist. There is little doubt about it. NASA and the Library of Congress had even teamed up to bring together scientists, theologians, philosophers and historians from around the globe for a two day symposium in order to discuss how to prepare the world for extraterrestrial contact, whether it be microbial organisms or intelligent beings.

In a documentary film , HH the Dalai Lama explained the forms of these extraterrestrial beings in the cosmos as follows. He classifies all intelligent life in the cosmos into three categories : ” beings like us that have form that are embodied, beings that have form where they’re not embodied, and the third are beings that have no form”.

The open-minded and compassionate Dalai Lama sees all beings as Mother Beings. There should be respect for all forms of life. When we begin to put labels and differentiate beings as “human beings” and “animals”, and categorize them into species and shapes, then, fear and anxiety arise as we dwell on differences and not similarities. Hence, we will see extraterrestrial beings as strangers and aliens, and these fears and anxieties will immediately set in. Basically, as the Dalai Lama says, visitors from another galaxy are the same sentient beings as us, no matter what their form or shape.

Who would expect a highly respected religious leader to give a teaching on Extraterrestrial Bodies. Very interesting ! In actual fact the Buddha have mentioned more then 2500 years ago that the human kind is not alone; there are many dimensions and universes. We are but a speck of dust on Earth.
It is great that the Dalai Lama is an advocate for equality and equanimity as He advises us to treat all sentient beings (including aliens) with respect, understanding and compassion. thank you His Holiness.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article.

As confirmed by Lord Admiral Hill-Norton, former Chief of Defence Staff & Chairman of Nato Military commitee, that “there is a serious possibility that we are being visited and have been monitoring us for many years by people from outer space and from other civilizarions.” In addition this is further asserted by His Holiness, The 14th Dalai Lama, along with other texts and various teachings, that our cosmos is teaming with all kinds of lives. It is also said that the general consensus within the scientific community agreed we are not alone, and that intelligient extraterrestrial life has already visited our planet and will continue doing so, making it quite clear that we are really dealing with a very real and serious phenomenon! As such, this was said to necessitate the subject of rigorous scientific investigations, and not the subject of “Rubbishing” by Tab
loid Newspapers, as disclosed by Lord Admiral Hill-Norton. It’s some kind of psychological, spiritual experiences occuring, originating in another Dimension as said during one interview of Dr. John E. Nick, a Havard University Psychologist and Pulitzerprize winner for a Film about, “The Dalai Lama Renaissance”, where he speaks about this conversation with the Dalai Lama about extraterrestrials and his experience with them.

  8. CindyH on Aug 27, 2016 at 2:45 am

I had always thought it very limiting to think that we are alone in this universe especially since there are so many other planets and stars in the universe. Then, it became clearer for me after hearing Lord Buddha Shakyamuni’s explanation of the different planes of existence and worlds beyond our earth. Thus, it really is fascinating to read the elaboration by the Dalai Lama on ET/aliens that supports the logic as relayed by Lord Buddha. What is even more interesting is the same core message being reiterated i.e. to treat all sentient beings (including aliens) with respect, understanding and compassion. However, achieving that remains a huge question mark if we are to look at the current state of affairs. If people can discriminate their fellow human, treat animals as inferior and have no qualms killing them etc, it seems rather far-fetched really, to expect open armed acceptance and extension of such respect, understanding and compassion towards aliens.

  9. Paul Yap on Aug 26, 2016 at 9:08 pm

i always believe other beings – aliens, does exist. The universe is vast and immense, beyond our imagination, its only logical to think and believes that there are many more earth like planet that contains advance life force intelligent, and i believe what is said by H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama is true.

Interesting article…..the explanation by the Dalai Lama was clear enough to prove that we are not alone.Do agree that different religions have different depictions of extraterrestrial or extradimensional beings We should treat and respect all beings the same as explained by the Dalai Lama.We should look upon them as we look upon ourselves — another equal form of life.I do enjoyed reading and watching the video.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article and video from HH Dalai Lama.

This is such an interesting article. Many fascinated about the topic of E.T., Big Foot and other paranormal things, so do I. I have watched the 60 of Zimbabwe children being interviewed on their sighting of E.T. and their vehicle..how they describe their look and what they felt after seeing into the E.T.’s eyes..Evidence of existence of other beings apart from human and their visits to Earth are abundance. To keep an open mind and respect all beings, epsecially not act as we are the owner of Earth and can do whatever actions that destroy the planet is some attitude we should learn to have.

  12. Liang Jing on Aug 21, 2016 at 10:17 pm

I believe that ET is exist. This universe is so big, the existence of others being including ET is not unexpected. We should have a open mind, what we did not see not means that there are exist.

    • Liang Jing on Aug 21, 2016 at 11:38 pm

Correction: …what we did not see does not means that they are not exist.

  13. Albert on Aug 18, 2016 at 3:13 am

While reading this article, my mind came across the slogan of Tsem Paranormal Zone – What you see may not be real & what is real you may not see.

This is so true that there are so many unknown beings exist in this universe that we have never seen or not able to see, we only recognize anything within our knowledge and our reached, but the whole galaxy is so huge, imagine how many % we have explored in this galaxy, more over, there are so many galaxies that is far beyond our reach.

I like what Dalai lama said, we should treat all beings the same, whether it is beings from the earth or from any other planets, we should treat all the same, because we may be appeared in different forms, but we are all the same, sentient beings.

Many years ago, I remembered H.E. the 25th Tsem Rinpoche mentioned before, even when we sighted the appearance of a spirit, “we should not recite mantra to chase them off, we should have compassion, recite mantra and dedicate to them”. We needed the blessing and protection from the Buddha, so do the spirits and any other beings in this world.

And thru this article, it also mean that the previous sighting of UFO that has yet to be proven, they may be real too.. How exciting. (Maybe we can invite them for a drink and share about their life, technology, and belief in their planet / world. hehe…)

  15. Julia Tan on Aug 18, 2016 at 1:02 am

Buddha said we are all equal. We included all sentient beings which included the extraterrestrial . When we do mandala offering we offer up the whole universe. I have no doubt about they were here, they are here or will be here, but because of our selfishness, ego, jealousy and etc that separating them (human from other planets) from us (human on earth). They will not come near but just observing from far because we do not show any signs that we are welcoming them.

If we are suppose to accept and see the extraterrestrial as one of the sentient beings, then why can’t we accept each other even though we do not share the same belief? If we are suppose to stop thinking that we are different from others, because in this way we create distance, uneasiness, anxiety, fear and all kind of negative attitude. Then the first thing HHDL needs to do is to lift the Dorje Shugden ban. Because all DS practitioners are human.

  16. Pastor Chia on Aug 18, 2016 at 12:55 am

Buddha has explain form and formless being in the 6 realm. There are others of extraterrestrials do exits without human being can see it directly from our own eyes. For example creature living inside the deep sea in this planet. Therefore is importance to open our perception and generate love and respects to the being seen and unseen, living harmony together. As the human being, we must respect our own kind, differences race, cultures and religion. Creature inter harmony with each others.

  17. Mingwen on Aug 18, 2016 at 12:29 am

Personally, I like how H.H Dalai Lama’s act of spontaneous and level of acceptance, etc., “We can shake their hands if they have hands.”

It’s rare that people would have the level of mind openness , most of us are forced to learn and accept how the world look like, and how we should act in things with specific ways. We are trained to act defensively when sentient beings that we are not close to or different sentient beings are close to us.

    Rinpoche,

It is always been the fascinating topic(ET) to me. I also watched few documenteries and TED talks by numerious astronouts. I don’t have proves that those beings from other dimensions are visiting our planet but I sometimes really believe and have the deep feeling that it is very much possible for the existence of ET beings out there in other dimensions. According to physics, there are billions of galaxies and in each of them the billions of pannets, which means infinite in number. Even in Buddhism, it is said that there are six realms and each realms there are different types of beings depending on degree of karma generated.
It has always been mystery but interesting and sometimes convincing mystery.
    Thank you Rinpoche for sharing.
    Hope to learn more.

  19. Pastor Antoinette on Aug 17, 2016 at 11:00 pm

This is a very interesting topic. On Rinpoche’s blog there are already blogpost about extraterrestrals. I never really believed in it as pictures can be manipulated. But thinking more about it, there are so many movies, documentaries and more. Space is unimaginable huge and vast.

Buddhism speaks about many worlds and H.H. the Dalai Lama sharing about it is giving us again an opportunity to open our mind and notice than there is more than our small world.

I like the quote: “If we looked down at the world from space, we would not see any demarcations of national boundaries. We would simply see one small planet, just one.” —The Dalai Lama
Yet, despite this fact, we hold on to our nationality, to our mind games who is better, bigger, smarter, and so on. How could we been seen as one planet, one humanity?

May be this can help us to reflect and set better priorities.

Thank You Rinpoche for sharing and inspiring us to see beyond what we know.

ET or extraterrestrials is a topic that has intrigued the people of earth since humans claimed to have distant and close encounters of the third kind. Stories of UFO sightings, contacts, abductions are many yet no conclusive evidence were found. Or the evidences were covered up by the government of the respective people who made the claim – maybe for religious and for political reason. But it is logical to think that since Earth is not the only planet in the vast universes, of which other universes have still not been determined by science, the possibility of other life forms has a very high probability. As opined by many experts in this field, I agree that there are different types of life forms on other planets. It is just that these alien life forms, intelligent or not, have not been found. Or were found but not publicly made known. Even the deepest abysses in our oceans, that potentially could have intelligent life forms living there, have not been ventured into. Maybe no one is interested to venture within Earth itself compared to the vastness of space.

Personally I believe that we are not alone. What we don’t see doesn’t mean they don’t exist. One interesting part that for us to realise as mention in this post is when we looked down at the world from space, we would see many individual planet from the galaxy. This already tell us there are other being in other planets.

It’s an interesting sharing from Dalai Lama with regards to acknowledging other sentient being exist in this galaxy. Dalai Lama also mentioned that we should respect them even though they look different from us. It’s always us that try to segregate the difference that we see and feel which actually the other party may feel the same.

What important is that we can acknowledge the different but we must respect and live in harmony .

  23. Khoo Hou Haw on Aug 17, 2016 at 10:00 pm

I definitely believe that extraterrestrials do exist. It had numerous records from ancient civilizations to modern days. Even in the monumental records of China’s ancient history, “Shiji”or “Records of the Grand Historian”, there are several descriptions of emperor meeting the extraterrestrials. Like what is written in the article, we cannot be the only one in one hundred billion of habitable galaxies.

  24. Pastor Moh Mei on Aug 17, 2016 at 9:18 pm

    Quote from the movie “Contact”
Ellie Arroway: [to a group of children] I’ll tell you one thing about the universe, though. The universe is a pretty big place. It’s bigger than anything anyone has ever dreamed of before. So if it’s just us… seems like an awful waste of space. Right?

One of my favorite TV shows was X-files. I grew up pretty much already convinced aliens exist, we have encountered them and there was and still is government cover up and conspiracy going on. The unanswered question was why the cover up? Because mankind is not ready to handle the truth? Seriously!!?? I think it’s all about being in control or the illusion of being in control.

The good side of all the cover ups and conspiracy theories is that it keeps the topic interesting. Imagine if there are no mysteries, there are no unexplained phenomena, the world will be more boring than it already is.

  25. pammie yap on Aug 17, 2016 at 8:48 pm

HHDL said it really well! Every time when we talk about mother sentient beings, I often limit my perception to beings in the 6 realms here on earth. I never thought that it referred to ALL. Like what Buddha said, earth is just a tiny speck in a very very big galaxy and there are also Buddhas in many other ‘earths’.

I am really interested to know how they look like and how they actually practice. I am sure it’s very interesting and maybe similar to ours. If they are indeed among us then what are their purposes? Study us just like we would, them? Maybe one day, we will know.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this video from HH Dalai Lama. Great teaching on respecting one another regardless of species, labels etc.

Funny yet profound about the examples of how His Holiness was using himself a “Buddhist”, “Dalai Lama”, “HH Dalai Lama” that when we have ego and look at others differently or in a distance, we will also be seen as something different from others. In fact, we need to treat others equally, treat them same as us eg to shake hands with the aliens.

When we are able to see all sentient beings are the same and with respect to one another, then we are really practicing “Compassion”. Besides that, we will also be a better person and more accepting and patient to everything around us. We are not greater or smaller than anyone or any species, we are all the same….

I pray for the long live of His Holiness. I pray that HH & China will be friends again for the spreading of the Dharma teachings and betterment of Tibetan and Chinese.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing Dalai Lama’s teaching on extraterrestrial beings, which is to treat all sentient beings, including extraterrestrial beings with equality. Dalai Lama further emphasized that when we receive visitors from other galaxy, we should treat them as the same (as human being), respect them, look at them as another sentient beings, and shake hand with them. I am so happy to hear these words from Dalai Lama. I wish he could say the same about Dorje Shugden’s practitioners.

  28. Pastor Shin on Aug 15, 2016 at 2:37 pm

Buddhism recognises the existence of millions of other worlds and casually asserts that they are inhabited. Indeed, each inhabited world is stated to have a Buddha of its own. Lord Shakyamuni once explained the world system and said, ”Monks, as far as sun and moon revolve and illuminate all directions by their radiance, so far does the thousand-fold world system extend. And in that thousand-fold world system, there are thousand moons, a thousand suns, inhabited planets…. This thousand-fold world system is called culanikā-loka-dhātu or Minor World-System, which is the smallest unit in the universe.

I also read that in Chapter 23 of the Lotus Sutra is entitled “Gadgadasvara”, a student of a Buddha on another planet who asked his teacher for permission to visit earth and listen to the sermon of Shakyamuni. The teacher granted the permission and gave Gadgadasvara some interesting cautions about what to expect on earth.

What His Holiness said is very profound, although we may find aliens intriguing because they are different, ultimately, they too are sentient beings and that means it is back to the basic Four Noble Truth. The best-recommended approach to any being is inter-connectedness, works not only with extraterrestrials, but among us here on earth who have different socioeconomical, ethnic, religious backgrounds. Thank you His Holiness and thank you Rinpoche for sharing this.

  29. Echeah on Aug 15, 2016 at 1:34 am

Scientists try to piece together pieces of evidence of the possibility of existence of extra-terrestrials while Buddhas already knew since 2500 years ago. Man has always asserted themselves to be superior beings, and that earth is the centre of the universe. Also, that it’s hard to believe what you don’t see without the concrete evidence. In Buddhism, we acknowledge the existence of other world systems and different planes of existence. What we don’t see or comprehend does not necessarily mean they don’t exist. It’s just that we don’t see or don’t perceive.

I really enjoy Dalai Lama’s talk and the way he explains on other form of sentient beings. Its is profound and funny. Why are we often fear from something different than us. Because we never have an open mind to accept any other than human. I always believe aliens existence and they are curious about human. They want to know more about us but not creates harms. Well as Dalai Lama said, maybe we can shake hands with them when we encounter one hehe… Im sure although they don’t speaks human, they are totally intelligent beings that have senses whether we are harmful or not hehehe….

  32. Lester on Aug 13, 2016 at 6:43 pm

Dear Rinpoche and all, Buddhism has always affirmed the existence of life forms beyond our planet. There is infinitely more beings elsewhere than on Earth. With regard to the bodies of these extraterrestrial beings, there is a Chinese classics written on it. Known as the Shan Hai Jing, or Classics of Mountains and Seas, it is a compilation of observations made of non-human beings made over two thousand years ago. It is not uncommon for ancient civilisations to refer to outer space as the ‘sea’ and the centre of galaxies as ‘mountain’ (as in Mount Sumeru). Below are some illustrations of the book. Enjoy.

Thanks Lester for sharing this interesting notes from 2000 years ago. It’s amazing how it was recorded and I don’t think these illustrations are sheer creation from imagination.

I always believe there are a lot of beings beyond our sight or just simply our “civilization” made them far away from us. As we are accessing more information and people can post personal encounter freely on internet, I believe we are in a generation that open up to more possibilities that sentient beings can take form.

Like Dalai Lama says, they are equal sentient beings too which deserve our respect.

      Thank you 🙂

I have heard Rinpoche mentioned about ET or alien in quite a few occasions, in that there are many life and sentient beings outside of this earth, and it mentioned in the scriptures. When we come to think of it, the universe is so big, and theoretically speaking, it is almost impossible there is no other life than those on earth.

I have also heard that there are many sentient beings in human realm in other planets. They may look different from us and they way we do things may differ, but they can think logically like us.

I wish that one day when ET and earthlings meet, it would be a peaceful one (may be I have watched too much of those Holywood alien movies LOL).

Thanks Rinpoche for this very interesting article.

The way Dalai Lama explain about ET is very funny but yet very profound that they are just another form of sentient beings.

I remember when we did research on UFO sightings in Malaysia, we interview the people from National Planetarium and one of them said there are 93% of the UFO sighting reports in Malaysia can be explained that it’s not something unidentified, but there are 7% of them can’t be explained. Although it’s only 7%, the 7% could be any possibility.

Human knowledge is still limited on this stage to conclude who are the visitors from another world, but like Dalai Lama says, we should keep an open mind and perhaps can shake hand with them 🙂

    Thank you.

As Dr. John E. Mack observes, the general consensus of the scientific community is that the Extraterrestials exist and that we are being constantly watched over. As the Dalai Lama said, we are sentient beings in this world and so too it applies to beings from other worlds. As such we should not view them differently and develop pre-conceived perception that creates the gap between us. Equanimity where all sentient beings are equal and in need of happiness.

I, too believe in Extraterrestrials. After all our very own beautiful female Buddha Tara is from other world system. Her story here : http://goo.gl/gFH6Ou. We read of how in her world “Manifold Light”, there are practitioners too who aspire towards attaining enlightenment. Buddha Tara’s compassion had brought her to our world to help us, an equanimity that does not distinguish who she helps.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this interesting article with us. In having an open mind, we will make greater friends even if it is with the Extraterrestrial visitors.

  36. Vinnie Tan on Aug 12, 2016 at 10:59 pm

What H.H. the Dalai Lama said is very true. If one day the ET visits us, we should not be afraid of them as well. Because they too are sentient beings just like us. They are only different because the looks are different.

What I really like is how H.H. the Dalai Lama said that when we create the distance that we have in our minds of how we are different from others, we will feel that distance. However, the distance that is created is false.

From the video itself it has made me see that we are the ones that are constantly creating a difference with others. We are the ones that are judging and creating distances with others when there is no such distance and all has arose from our minds. There is no one better than another person and all these differences we created it with our minds when it does not exist. When such comparison is made, the people that suffer will be ourselves as believe in that barrier/distance when it is not there at all.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this with all of us here. Showing us again with examples that we are all the same, and no one is better than another person.

n their theoretical model, rudeness has this impact on our ability to think because it engenders negative sadness, anger. Researchers have found that common negative behaviours can spread easily and have significant consequences. The best way to avoid rude people is to meet their acts of rudeness with kindness. Exposure to neurotoxins in society is not new. Children today are raised in an environment that is much different from those days. Nowadays they are exposed to behaviours, profane language, hostilities and stress from which we adults, raised a generation ago. Studies have shown that children exposed to serious psychological trauma during childhood are at risk of suffering increased psychiatric disorders. Interesting read.

Revisit this blog again . Reading comments in this blog Rich people have substantial assets and income, providing a sense of security and freedom from financial worries. Owning high-end cars, designer clothing and everything they want with their money. Rich people often have more time for leisure, hobbies, and travel, allowing them to pursue interests and experiences. They may live in large, luxurious homes and have or apartments, often in desirable locations and having personalized services. The fundamental difference in mindset between the rich and the poor is, the rich have understood a very simple principle money makes money. Rich people see money as an opportunity, while poor people see it as something to be earned. Poor people work hard for their money. It is the heart that makes a man rich. He is rich according to what he is, not according to what he has. Not he who has much is rich, but he who gives much. The primary difference between rich people and poor people is how they handle their wealth. My thought been rich in this world it is not what we take up, but what we give up, that makes us rich.
    Thank you for sharing Rinpoche.

Found this old post …disturbing. Having a name especially a Bar linked to Buddha to be disrespectful towards Buddhism. After much controversy the owner had it removed. The Buddha Bar located in Sabah by a young owner which opened without much thought had many people complaining. Later was forced to have its controversial name changed to ‘Peacock Garden’ and had apologised for the controversial name. As a devout Buddhist, the name ‘Buddha Bar’ which serves alcohol, is disrespectful to the revered Buddha.

Siberia, considered the heartland of shamanism inhabited by many different ethnic groups, and many of its peoples observe shamanistic. Many of the indigenous communities reclaiming their traditional spiritual and healing practices . Interesting. Siberian shamanism is often called Tengerism, involves various rituals, including drumming, chanting, trance states, and offerings to nature spirits and ancestors. This religious practice has deep roots in Siberia and Central Asia in recent years with roots in the Turkic and Mongolic cultures. Many who have been live in a remote part of Russia, have preserved their shamanic traditions due to their isolation. Many customs of Tengrism are still been practiced where they emphasizes a deep respect for nature and its various spirits, including those of the earth, water, and mountains. They do believe in the continued existence of souls and the importance of honouring their ancestors.
Thank you Rinpoche sharing this ancient religion.

Everyone of us has an unforgettable different experience, a different destination and itineraries. The journey to Shar Gaden Monastery back in 2019, making offerings to the sangha , by the Kecharians hold special moments and memories. They were on behalf of His Eminence the 25th Tsem Rinpoche and Kechara in making an offering to all 650 monks of the monastery. On this fruitful trip the Kecharians had the honour to catch a glimpse of the normally-covered holy statue of Dorje Shugden . Awesome this holy statue of Dorje Shugden was handmade by HH Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche and HH Kyabje Zong Rinpoche. The team was also granted an audience with H E Domo Geshe Chocktrul Rinpoche. Having the opportunity to make offerings to the monks was indeed meritorious. Rejoice to them. Looking at those beautiful pictures paints a thousands words. Thank you Rinpoche and team for this sharing. Merely looking at it is a blessing especially the Holy Statue of Dorje Shugden.

Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly. We can’t let our failures define us. Defeat is not the worst of failures. Not to have tried is the true failure. Success is never permanent, and failure is never final. Failure is another stepping stone to greatness .Sometimes just reminding ourselves of the temporality of failure enables us to forge ahead and stay focus looking forward . Failure isn’t something many of us can handle gracefully. And even though we know it’s a common human condition, figuring out how to stay motivated in the face of failure .
Thank you Rinpoche for this profound teachings.

Finally HH Dalai Lama said we can practice Dorje Shugden. After all these years of deep frustration felt by the Tibetan people. They who lack religious freedom been denied and been exploited in all sectors of society. More than 60 years the Tibetan leadership has cause the sufferings of those in exile who had propitiate Dorje Shugden. Dalai Lama did reiterated although he recommended not worshipping Dorje Shugden as it is a personal choice and freedom. Interesting read.

Working in a private hospital before ,having witnessed many personal tragedies faced by the living and dying patients. Many of these poor people faced their death with fear, with misery and pain before departing this world. With the images of all these in my mind, on occasion feeling sad and grieve at times when those we have cared .But nonetheless we should recognise certain truths. All of us are going to leave this world at one time and leaving those we love. In the teaching of the Buddha, all of us will pass away eventually as a part in the natural process of birth, old-age and death and that we should always keep in mind the impermanence of life. Along the journey of life, we are reminded of our own inevitable ends in waiting and everything is a blip of transience and impermanent. Be responsible, good and positive for ourselves and towards others. This leads to calmness, happiness and an outlook which contributes to a calm and controlled mind at the time of death. We have to remind ourselves the importance of rebirth and taking time to prepare for their own demise before its too late.To cultivate the good karma, our good actions are an excellent way prepare for our death. Having lead a responsible and compassionate life and have no regrets when death approaches enables us to surrender without a struggle. The life that we all cherish and wish to hold on. We are doomed to the endless cycles of life and death, we should learn and practices Dharma teachings .We are given a chance in life and choice to determine our future, to determine where we will go for rebirth. Spend our time on earth wisely before its too late.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is considered the incarnation of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara and therefore he is an enlightened being. H H Dalai Lama has strongly discouraged the practice of Dorje Shugden worship within Tibetan Buddhism. Dorje Shugden is a prominent deity in the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism. Many highly attained Lamas have been relying on this Powerful Protector for centuries and even Dalai lama previously do propitiate Dorje Shugden . It cannot be wrong and its wrong to view it as a form of “spirit worship”. All his previous 9 reincarnations practiced with devotion, all of the Dalai Lamas teachers practiced Dorje Shugdan as well . The Tibetan community is torn over this issue and this has been the cause of much suffering and unnecessary prejudice. Dalai Lama is without doubt an enlightened being that surely cannot be tricked by a spirit. Dalai Lama did composed a praise to Dorje Shugden while at Dungkar Monastery . Interesting article , may more people read this and to understand better regarding this controversy. In 2020, the Dalai Lama made a Uturn by saying we can practice Dorje Shugden . Thats’ wonderful and relief for many practitioners.

Butön Rinchen Drup, 11th Abbot of Shalu Monastery, was a 14th-century Sakya master and Tibetan Buddhist leader. Butön Rinchen Drup a Tibetan great scholar and translator, known for systematizing the Tibetan Buddhist canon containing the Indian scriptures based on the spoken words of the Buddha. He also compiled the Tangyur collection that contains the Indian and Tibetan commentaries of these teachings. He wrote a famous text, the History of Buddhism in India and Tibet, which many Tibetan scholars utilize in their study till today. He remains to this day as one of the most important Tibetan historians and Buddhist writers in the history of Buddhism and Tibet. He was not merely a capable administrator but he is remembered to this very day as a prodigious scholar and writer and is Tibet’s most celebrated historian. After his death he strongly influenced the development of esoteric studies and psychic training in Tibet for centuries. Interesting biography of a great scholar.

nspiring a Tibetan Parliament representing the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism, spoke bravely for the need to stop discriminating against Dorje Shugden practitioners. Tenpa Yarphel, a Tibetan MP speaking confidently for the sake of Tibetan unity. Tibetans in exile have also been particularly divided over the issue of the two Karmapas and the very damaging Dorje Shugden conflict. For someone who dare to speak for the sake of peace with the intention of moving forward to a better future. Tenpa Yarphel spoke up against the continuing discrimination of people based on their beliefs. For over more than 20 years those Tibetans especially those Dorje Shugden practitioners suffered from the lack of employment opportunities to discrimination. A wise decision of Tenpa Yarphel speaking up the truth of the Tibetan sufferings. They are not allowed in Tibetan hospitals, or apply jobs in the Tibetan civil service or even entering shop or hotels and so on. Tenpa Yarphel’s statement, paints a thousand words of reality. A big hand applaud to this brave man .

Losar is the Tibetan New Year, a festival that marks the beginning of the year on the Tibetan calendar. It is celebrated among the Tibetan community all over the world recently. Losar marks the beginning of the Tibetan calendar year a time for family gatherings, religious ceremonies, and feasting because of its long history and rich cultural traditions. The celebrations will last for 15 days whereby the first three days being the most important day for them and widely celebrated festival on the Tibetan calendar. During theTibetan New Year, Panglung Oracles are known to enter a trance state, of the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. This practice is considered a significant part of the Losar celebrations within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, providing guidance and blessings to those seeking their wisdom. People often consult the Panglung oracles to receive predictions, advice, and blessings for the coming year. Dorje Shugden will also give teachings while in trance of an oracle.
Reading this old blog again where back in 2022, the Great Protector Dorje Shugden gave an inportant message to everyone of us. We should take it seriously practising good virtues, such as prostrating ,making offerings and practise the holy Dharma. Everyone should always be kind-hearted and doing our best to cultivate loving-kindness, compassion and bodhicitta.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this precious advices.

Pemayangtse Monastery is a Buddhist monastery in Sikkim, India that is part of the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. It is one of the oldest and most famous monasteries in Sikkim. It is home to Dorje Shugden, a spirit in Tibetan tradition. The monastery is one of the oldest and most famous in Sikkim. Pemayangtse Monastery in Sikkim, founded by Lhatsun Namkha Jigme of the Nyingma tradition. One of the earliest modern academic references to Dorje Shugden. Stunning sculptures, paintings and ancient scrolls can be found in the Monastery. Interesting story behind this monastery,as described by Lieutenant Colonel Laurence Austine Waddell a British explorer, collector and author. Through the years of travelling in India, Sikkim and areas on the borders of Nepal and Tibet, after doing research on Tibetan Buddhist religious practices he made a stunning discovery. He discovered that Dorje Shugden existence in the Nyingma monastery as written in his book, which confirmed that Dorje Shugden been worshipped in the Nyingma as well . Not only worshipped in the Gelug lineage but held prominence in the Nyingma tradition too. Interesting read.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer

Xin Nian Kuai Le! Gong Xi Fa Cai! (29th Jan 2025) May the year of the snake brings us spiritual growth through having good health and increased wisdom. May Rinpoche return swiftly to guide all beings into Dharma path. Thanks to everyone for your participation. Without the support from each and everyone, there's no Kechara Penang Study Group. Gorgeous offerings of flowers, fruits snacks and drinks. This can only be achieved through the generosity and efforts all members and sponsors, especially to our dedicated Penang member Choong Soon Heng who organised this. May all beings have inner and outer peace. Uploaded by Jacinta 29th Jan 2025.

As H. E. The 25th Tsem Tulku Rinpoche has mentioned: The lunar New Year is an auspicious occasion when we renew ties and rekindle joy with our loved ones. Hence, happy to see many families gathered together to usher the Lunar New Year at Kechara Penang and also appreciation for the guests that came from afar for this joyous occasion. By Jacinta

Before puja, Pastor shared about consciousness beyond death, bardo and the stages of death. Hue and Betty (her brother) shared about the out of body experiences. These type of shared experiences offerred us opportunity to explore things from different perspectives. Thank you so much. Kechara Penang Study Group by Jacinta.
