The Secrets of Ukraine’s Shameful ‘Holocaust of Bullets’

Dear friends around the world,

The number of Jews who were killed in the genocide is overwhelming. They were beaten up, spat upon, stripped naked for public humiliation, tormented, killed, and subjected to all sorts of violence that their tormentors could come up with, just because they were Jews and did not adopt a religion similar to others. Can you imagine that? It is amazing how one group of people can discriminate, abuse, beat, segregate and even kill another group of people because their race, religion, culture or norms are different than their own. It is amazing this has happened and still is happening in many parts of the world. I have posted this here strictly for educational purposes. The sufferings of the people in this article is a shame and horrific and I am deeply saddened by this. Even though it is hard to see the pictures and read about, nevertheless, we must learn from the past. May this never happen again.

It is worryingly similar to how Dorje Shugden practitioners are treated in Tibet (and out of Tibet). Dorje Shugden practitioners are also spat upon, beaten up, outcast and even denied access to the most basic human rights like attending schools, dining out in restaurants and receiving medical help in hospitals. This is how bad the discrimination and ostracism is against Dorje Shugden practitioners. Of course the suffering of Dorje Shugden practitioners due to the ban and discrimination against them since 1996 are immense but nothing compared to the innocent Jewish people nevertheless it is there.

I stumbled upon this and thought that it may be of some benefit to you. The content may be disturbing to some, therefore viewer discretion is advised. I pray that all these conflicts resolve soon so that all sentient beings on this planet can live together harmoniously. I make prayers for all those who suffered so much. You are remembered here and prayers offered for you.

‘Blood oozed through the soil at grave sites. You could see the pits move, some of them were still alive’: The secrets of Ukraine’s shameful ‘Holocaust of Bullets’ killing centre where 1.6 million Jews were executed

  • WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT
  • Jews were humiliated and murdered one by one in Ukraine during WW2
  • Many of them were forced to stand in front of mass graves and shot dead
  • Women were stripped naked, beaten in the streets during ‘organised riots’
  • Witnesses today have broken their silence to tell of Ukraine’s killing centre

Seventy years on from the end of the Second World War the full, shocking scale of the Nazi-inspired Holocaust in Ukraine is finally being revealed – thanks to pioneering work by a French Catholic priest to research the truth of the industrial-scale killing.

Around 2,000 mass graves of Jewish victims have been located where men, women and children were shot and buried by the Germans and their collaborators.

But there may be up to 6,000 more sites to uncover, with victims of this ‘Holocaust of bullets’ – so called because unlike in Poland and Germany where gas chambers were used as the means of slaughter – here most were summarily shot and buried nearby.

In many cases, the Jews were ordered to dig pits and then to strip naked before they were mown down by their murderers.

Some were buried in the unmarked plots while still alive.

Genocide: Between 1.4 million and 1.6 million Jewish people were killed in Ukraine during the second World War and buried in mass graves like this one in Kamianets-Podilskyi.

Cruelty: The Nazis mowed people down in a ‘Holocaust of Bullets’ and also subjected Jews to horrendous public humiliation by forcing them to strip in the streets (pictured) before beating them.

Violence: A Jewish man is kicked to the ground during a pogrom in the Ukrainian city of Lviv in 1941.

Unthinkable: Witnesses have told of how the Nazis killed Ukrainian Jews (pictured) ‘for fun’, ‘out of anger, boredom, drunkenness’, or ‘to rape the girls’.

Blood oozed through the soil at sites of these graves, according to accounts assiduously collected by French Catholic priest, Father Patrick Desbois, who began his search by seeking to trace his grandfather’s experience as a prisoner of war held in a concentration camp by the Nazis in Ukraine during the Second World War.

He uncovered accounts of how Jews were killed by the Nazis ‘for fun’, or ‘out of anger, boredom, drunkenness’, or ‘to rape the girls’.

Yet the Soviet Union, for its own motives, obscured the full scale of the Holocaust on its own territory.

Leading historian Mikhail Tyaglyy told MailOnline the number of Jewish victims in Ukraine is between 1.4 million and 1.6 million, significantly higher than the oft-quoted figure of around one million.

The priest’s search took him to four sites around Rava Ruska, close to the Ukrainian border with Poland, where 15,000 Jews were slain, and also the site of a Nazi camp where his grandfather Claudius Desbois had been held as a prisoner of war.

Gradually, elderly locals who had kept quiet all their lives – mainly under Soviet rule – opened up to him, as hundreds more did in many other villages and towns in Ukraine.

One account from Rava Ruska was of a Nazi officer who spotted a young Jewish woman running out of the ghetto to buy butter at the market. He ordered her to be stripped naked, and demanded the trader smear her with the butter after which he decreed her beaten to death with sticks.

Atrocity: Sometimes the Nazis would make the Jews dig the pits before they shot them to death – and many of the victims were buried in unmarked plots (pictured).

Assault: Not only were the Jews in Ukraine mowed down by Nazi shooters, many were subject to brutal public beatings on the country’s streets (pictured).

Infanticide: The beating of Jewish women in the streets of Ukraine (pictured) was a regular occurrence and one witness told how a cruel Nazi grabbed a woman’s two-year-old child and beat its head against a wall.

In another case he recounted how ‘an unspeakably cruel German soldier grabbed a Jewish woman’s child from her’.

He added: ‘He was barely two years old, and he took him and banged his head repeatedly against the wall… The child died in pools of blood in front of the parent’s eyes.’

In separate testimony, an elderly witness called Yaroslav showed him to a site outside the town, and told him how he witnessed the horror of mass killing as a 13 year old boy in 1942.

A German arrived alone on a motorcycle. He rode around the village. Everyone wondered why. It turned out, he was planning the site of what would become Rava Ruska’s Jewish mass grave

Father Patrick Desbois, Catholic priest

He was the first of the elderly villagers to speak: many others followed him, here and in other locations.

Yaroslav described how the Jews arrived on foot and were forced to undress before being marched to ‘the side of a grave’ in Rava Ruska.

‘Yaroslav brought me in the forest with 50 farmers, very old people who were present at the killings,’ Father Desbois said.

‘They described one by one what happened. One person said a German arrived alone on a motorcycle.

‘He rode around the village. At the time, everyone wondered why. It turned out, he was planning the site of what would become Rava Ruska’s Jewish mass grave.’

On this occasion, some 1,500 Jews were marched to the huge pit, dug earlier by other Jews who had been killed with explosives.

The group seen by Yaroslav were then shot, their bodies layered on top of each other and covered by local youths from the village who had been requisitioned by the Germans.

Their clothes were ransacked for cash and valuables.

Organised attacks: The pogroms were a part of systematic anti-Semitic violence that included beatings and killings which led to the deaths of 4,000 Jews in Lviv (pictured) – 31 miles from of Rava Ruska.

Opening up: Elderly Ukrainians who witnessed the horror of mass killings and public beatings (pictured) are now ending their vow of silence.

Helpless: A badly-injured Jewish man struggles to stand up after being beaten at a pogrom in Lviv, Ukraine in 1941.

Tricked: The Germans claimed that all the Jews of Rawa Ruska (pictured today) would be sent to work camps but they were instead taken to the forest at Borove and executed.

The secrets of Ukraine’s shameful ‘Holocaust of Bullets’12

Chilling past: An elderly witness called Yaroslav showed the priest a site outside the town of Rava Ruska (pictured today) and told him how he witnessed the horror of mass killing as a 13 year old boy in 1942.

After the burial ‘the earth moved’ from the helpless last struggles for life of those wounded but buried alive in this mass grave.

A week later, blood was still seeping out from this macabre site.

Elderly Olha Havrylivna – aged 12 when she witnessed the chilling atrocity here – remembered: ‘We saw arrests, killings, executions.

They brought them to the edge of a pit and shot them. But you could see the pit move, because some of them were still alive

Olha Havrylivna

‘They brought them to the edge of a pit and shot them. But you could see the pit move, because some of them were still alive. We were young and it was hard to watch. It was a tragedy, a great tragedy.

‘The day we came to see they brought a lot of Jews here. There must have been 60 or 70. We looked on. We didn’t go too near, we stayed over there, but we children could still see everything.’

Olha told of how 15 German soldiers stood all around the pit where their captives were standing in groups.

The opened fire on the helpless Jews who dropped back-first into the pits.

Another witness, Gregory Haven, recalled how the Germans had before the killings how they ‘ordered all the Jews in the village to wear an armband on their right arm with the Star of David.

The cloth was white and the star black. The Jews had to give up the milk from their cows’.

Deceased: A group of bloodied Jewish victims lie dead after a night of violence at a pogrom in Lviv.

Doomed: The priest’s search took him to four sites around Rava Ruska (pictured), close to the Ukrainian border with Poland, where 15,000 Jews were slain.

The Nazis ‘began by shooting old people and children, they left people between the ages of 18 and 45 to make them work’.

‘Three kilometres away, they killed them, people fell like flies. I didn’t see them but I heard the shots. I saw a young Jew who brought corpses in a cart to the Jewish cemetery. It was during the winter of 1942, there was blood and the ground was red.’

After one of the mass killings, in the evening, he recalled: ‘We began to smell an odour and then, as it smelled of death, they forced people who had carts and horses to bring sand there.

Many people were requisitioned to dig the mass graves, to fill them, to bring the Jews in horse-drawn carts, to bring back their suits, to sell the suits, to put ashes on the blood

Father Patrick Desbois, Catholic priest

‘They also put chlorine, that allowed them to lower the level of the pit by one metre, and the blood stopped running’.

Locals went there ‘because the Jews had undressed there and people saw the Germans taking the civilian clothes of women and men, they came to see if they could find something – money, rings, gold watches’.

The priest’s grandfather, a French political prisoner, went home after his internment during which he survived eating dandelions and grass.

Desbois said: ‘He never spoke. He only said that outside the camp was worse than in the camp. I wanted to understand why, and I discovered that 18,000 Jews were shot in this village, Rava Ruska.’

It became clear to him that elderly Ukrainians like Yaroslav, witnesses to this horror, wanted to end their vow of silence on the terrible things they had seen in their youth.

‘People who were present at the killings wanted to speak before they die,’ he said.

‘Many people were requisitioned to dig the mass graves, to fill them, to bring the Jews in horse-drawn carts, to bring back their suits, to sell the suits, to put ashes on the blood. Fifty different jobs.’

Bloody: Blood oozed through the soil at sites of mass graves (pictured), according to accounts assiduously collected by French Catholic priest Father Patrick Desbois.

Witnesses: The harrowing accounts of those who survived the massacre in Rava Ruska (pictured) have been collected by a French Catholic priest, Father Patrick Desbois.

Mass extermination: The Nazis used gas chambers to cruelly kill millions in Germany but in Ukraine, they shot Jewish people and buried them nearby.

Dark history: This pile of bones was discovered in the Ukrainian town of Belzec, around 10 miles away from the site of four mass graves in Rava Ruska.

He explained: ‘Thirteen German private trucking companies came to work in Rava-Ruska.

‘The Nazi killers hired these German companies to move the bodies to mass graves. People must understand, Rava Ruska was a huge killing centre: first for the Jews, then for political prisoners, and then for the local population and the Roma. Each person who was killed here was an individual. We cannot forget this.’

Some 32,000 were buried around Rava Ruska and in neighbouring towns like Bakhiv, where for years farmers have dug up human remains – and in so doing found mass graves – as they ploughed the fields.

One veteran Tikhon Leshchuk, now 89, recalled how his father, a priest, hid a Jewish girl in their house throughout Nazi occupation.

‘On 27 June 1941, German troops came into Rava Ruska. The solders destroyed the Jewish cemetery and soon made a Jewish ghetto in the town centre.

‘The market square and the Jewish quarters around it became a ghetto. All the Jews from Rava Ruska and the near by villages were brought there,’ he said.

His best friend at school – a Jew – suddenly vanished, presumably shot by the Nazis.

‘One day when we were in the village my father’s friend came. She was a Jew and she brought her 10 year old girl and asked my father to let her stay with us.

‘My father agree and Anna, the girl, hid with us all through the years of German rule. I’m not sure what happened with her mother but Anna survived and later became a school teacher in Rava Ruska.’

A witness from Bakhiv, Temofis Ryzvanuk, then 14, told him how Germans beat the Jews with whips to force them to dig the holes into which they would be buried.

‘We were so afraid of the Germans. They had things on their caps, they were terrifying.

‘My father’s brother said: “Don’t be afraid, no one is going to kill you. They’re only killing Jews. And they realized that they were going to be killed”.

Courageous: One veteran Tikhon Leshchuk (pictured), now 89, recalled how his father, a priest, hid a Jewish girl in their house throughout Nazi occupation.

Memorial: There was also a mass grave at Pechora (pictured), Ukraine, where many Jews were murdered.

Victim: Women in Lviv (pictured) were beaten routinely while one survivor from Rava Ruska has told of how a Nazi ordered a woman to be stripped naked, smeared with butter and beaten to death.

Or view the video on the server at:

‘They stripped them naked, men and women. When they had killed them, they put them beside each other, head to head, to pile in as many as possible, to save space. The Germans had automatic rifles and when they got close to the pit they shot them.’

Temofis described the bloody execution as a ‘production line’ that was ‘so well organised’ that it only took a few minutes for everyone to be killed.

‘They had barely got out when they fell and were pushed in and piled together, head to head like herrings. Then the next wagon-load arrived, and then the next,’ he said.

They stripped them naked, men and women. When they had killed them, they put them beside each other, head to head, to pile in as many as possible, to save space. The Germans had automatic rifles and when they got close to the pit they shot them

Temofis Ryzvanuk, witness of mass killing of Jews in Ukraine

Desbois warned: ‘A whole part of the genocide has not been declared.

‘The challenge is to collect the maximum amount of evidence about the killing of the Jews in these countries and find out about the mass graves.

‘Tomorrow the witnesses will disappear and the deniers will overreact, saying that the Jews falsified the story.

‘I always say, the Holocaust was not a tsunami. It was a crime. And when there’s a crime you have evidence. It’s very easy to find evidence in these villages.’

In all, more one million Ukrainian Jews were murdered by Hitler’s troops, and Father Desbois and his humanitarian organisation Yahad, in Unum, are seeking to identify the sites and erect memorials but also to help relatives track where their ancestors were slain, and now lie buried.

‘Twenty five years ago, I learned that in Rava Ruska there was a camp where 25,000 Soviet prisoners were killed by the Germans,’ he said in this village, once a thriving town with 42 per cent of its population Jewish.

‘There was a memorial for the Soviet prisoners. But there were no memorials for the mass graves of the Jews.’

He had now ensured there is a memorial here – erected in May this year – and that the graves, and the memory of what happened are protected.

Selfless task: Father Desbois (pictured) is seeking to identify the sites of mass graves and erect memorials but also to help relatives track where their ancestors were slain.

Obligation: ‘We will come back to the last grave where they killed the Jews… We have a duty to victims because each and every one of them had a name,’ Father Desbois told MailOnline.

Inhumane: Backed by their new Nazi occupiers, Ukrainian mobs would rip women’s clothes off in the streets during organised riots known as Pogroms.

But it was his experience in Rava Ruska – which was also on the main railway line to the death camp of Belzec in Nazi-occupied Poland where up to 600,000 were exterminated in gas chambers – that led him to expand his search across the country.

‘We want to show that we will come back.’ he said.

‘We will come back to the last grave where they killed the Jews… We have a duty to victims because each and every one of them had a name.’

He has estimated that there may be another 6,000 sites still to find, reported Deutsche Welle.

Elsewhere in Ukraine, he heard from Nikola Kristitch, who was aged eight in 1942, when he saw a vision of hell that haunted him for the rest of his life.

He was hiding in the trees when he saw dead children being thrown by hand into a pit – a mass grave.

Adults ‘were completely naked and walked with the Rabbi at their head. He gave a sermon, to all those who were already there. And the cars kept coming, there were more and more people and they went into the pit in rows. They all lay down like herrings.

‘They lay down and there was one sub-machine gun and two Germans, they had the skull and crossbones on their caps. They fired a burst at the people lying there, and then more went in and another burst.

‘They kept shooting them until nightfall. And we watched. Then the Germans went back again to get the villagers to cover the grave. People hid to escape doing it. And us kids, we hid in the bushes, out of curiosity, to see.

‘That night, the people covered it in, but the ground was still moving, for another two days. The ground heaved. I remembered one of the girls, a young girl. Her panties were around her ankles.

Remembrance: The location of a mass grave in Pikov (pictured), Ukraine, was turned into a memorial after the war.

Death machine: A map of the extermination camp in Belzec, around 17km away from Rava-Ruska.

‘A German fired at her and her hair caught fire. She screamed and he took an automatic rifle, got into the grave and fired.

‘The bullet ricocheted off his knee and he bled everywhere. He bandaged his knee, he was half undressed and then he emptied his round. He even killed Jews who still had their clothes on, he couldn’t wait he was so crazed with rage. He fired at everybody, he was crazy.’

A sign of what was to come under the Germans was seen in the Lviv Pogrom of June 1941 immediately after the Nazis entered the city after pushing out the Red Army.

A Ukrainian mob, eagerly backed by the new occupiers, stripped and beat Jewish women in the streets who were subjected to public humiliation.

This was part of an orgy of anti-Semitic violence that included beatings and killings which led to the deaths of 4,000 Jews in Lviv (also known as Lvov), which is 31 miles south-east of Rava Ruska.

‘The topic of the Holocaust was almost banned in Soviet times,’ Mikhail Tyaglyy, historian of the Ukrainian Centre of Holocaust Study, told MailOnline.

For modern Ukraine the subject is difficult, too, because it means admitting a role for nationalists in colluding with the Nazis, in part because some preferred a German occupation to Stalin’s as the lesser of two evils.

Soviet history neglected the anti-Semitic aspect of the Jewish killings, lumping these deaths together with total losses in the USSR.

Death: Six million Jews were killed in the Holocaust in Europe, according to the co-president of Association of Jewish Organisations and Societies in Ukraine.

Catalysts: ‘The Nazis did their best to inspire pogroms (pictured) everywhere they came,’ a historian at the Ukrainian Centre of Holocaust Study told MailOnline.

Widespread: Iosif Zisels, co-president of Association of Jewish Organisations and Societies in Ukraine, said that one in four Jews killed during the Holocaust were Ukrainian Jews (pictured).

Inhumane: A woman is cruelly stripped naked during a pogrom, where large numbers of people would gather to attack Jewish people and their shops.

Soviet history has largely neglected the anti-Semitic aspect of the Jewish killings, lumping these deaths together with total losses in the USSR.

Death: By 1945, some three million non-Jewish Ukrainians had been murdered by the Germans, in addition to the Holocaust.

‘We are touching the topic of Ukrainian nationalism here and it is a complicated matter. The situation in Ukraine was not so different to what was going on in other Soviet regions which were occupied by Nazis – everywhere they relied on local nationalists, who often blamed Jews for supporting the “Moscow-Bolshevik regime”, as they said at the time.

‘Such attitude easily inspired pogroms as we had in Western Ukraine.

‘The Nazis did their best to inspire pogroms everywhere they came. But pogroms is one thing, and systematic extermination of the Jewish population which was organised purely by the German Nazis is another.

‘It is true that radical nationalists helped Nazis in guarding and performed other tasks. But Nazis did not trust mass killing of Jews to locals.’

Tyaglyy added: ‘It is vital for all Ukrainians to keep memories of what happened in Ukraine, to come back to it, because this experience can teach us many important lessons needed nowadays. ‘

He said: ‘There may be differences in calculating the number of Jewish population in Ukraine before the war, it is about including or not including the Eastern regions of Poland after Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, but in general we can say that at least a half – if not more – of all Ukrainian Jews were killed in Holocaust at our territory.’

Iosif Zisels, co-president of Association of Jewish Organisations and Societies in Ukraine, said that six million Jews were killed in the Holocaust in Europe.

‘Of these, 1.5million to 1.6million were Ukrainian Jews,’ he said, ‘In other words, one in four were Ukrainian Jews.’

He added: ‘There are certain stereotypes about participation of Ukrainian nationalists in pogroms in the early war years which were planted by Soviet history.

Killers: Although some ‘radical nationalists’ helped the Nazis, they did most of the killing of local Jews in Ukraine (pictured) themselves.

Aftermath: Some historians claim that 5,000 Jews died as a result of these pogroms in Lviv.

Brutal: They also claim that in addition to these 5,000 killed, another 3,000 people who were mostly Jews were executed in the municipal stadium by the Germans.

Extinguished: Following the 1941 pogroms, the harsh conditions in Lviv (pictured) and the deportations of Jews to concentration camps all but eradicated the local Jewish population.

‘It is true that the local population did cooperate with German Nazis in the occupied territories but the majority of them were Russian.

‘Russia makes a point about Ukrainian nationalists because it is keen to divert suspicion from itself.’

The notion of Ukrainian nationalists colluding with the Nazis was a vivid horror played on by Soviet propaganda, and now seized on again by the Russian authorities in branding ‘fascist’ those who currently want to be outside Moscow’s sphere of control.

Hitler had planned to eradicate over half of Ukraine’s population so that the country’s rich farmland could be repopulated with Germans in their so-called quest for Lebensraum.

By 1945, some three million non-Jewish Ukrainians had been murdered by the Germans in addition to those killed in the Holocaust.

The priest is unapologetic over his campaign in Ukraine.

‘Why do we come back to Ukraine?’ he asked. ‘Because one day we will have to go back to Iraq, because one day we will have to go back to the last mass grave in Darfur.’

Unless the lesson is learned from the Holocaust ‘tomorrow will be the same story’.

Yahad’s executive director Marco Gonzalez warned: ‘Unfortunately, this form of genocide, the ‘Holocaust by Bullets’, is the model for mass killings today.

‘The lessons to be learned are practical and the details need to be exposed for all to see and understand.’

Historian Mikhail Tyaglyy said the truth about the Holocaust in Ukraine must be taught to young people.

‘It is important to all times and all generations. Radical extremism and anti-Semitism still exists, and this is why it must be taught.

‘If we look at modern German society, we can hardly see any signs of anti-Semitism and xenophobia there, but it became possible because of long term wise educational, cultural and historical policies of the German state within the last decades. ‘

So much hatred and animosity to another fellow human being. Which makes me think that nationalism, being loyal to one’s race or creed is not exactly a good thing at all. In fact quite damaging. Loyalty to such sentiments can make one descent in to the killing and genocide of a rival race or nation.

Chairman Mao killed 150 million of hid own people, there was also the Armenian genocide
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armenian_Genocide and perhaps many more others – casualties of the British Empire, any Empire – Roman Empire, Japanese Empire, Chinese Empire, French Empire, casualties of the conquistadors, casualties of colonisation globally – we all hope it will stop

Yes there was also the Spanish Inquisition, we need a revolution of kindness and acceptance, in our world. Or some form of awakening that all humans are the same, all want happiness and do not want suffering. May it happen very soon. the Momondo journey like in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fw7FhU-G1_Q helps people / humans to understand that, there is no such thing as a pure race or racial identity.
Either that, or alien invasion (hopefully that will not causes human extinction), hopefully humans for once can unite for its survival like how they have it in the movies and also the ideal that Star Trek wanted to live up to when it first debut on tv.

Oh gosh, good video. Thanks for it.

Guess, we are all the same ya. There’s no differences between oneself with others. Exactly what was taught in Buddhism. On that note, there’s no such thing as pure Buddhism too. It’s one and only…

Reading this article had brought tears to my eyes, all the sufferings that the Jews had to go through just for their religion. It is amazing how the frustration, anger and hatred of one man, Adolf Hitler was able to bring on such mass sufferings. And the thing is he was able to motivate directly or indirectly so many to follow his war of pain and horror. I have read of World War II during my school days but this article really brings it so real to me with the pictures showing cruelty and death. As Tyaglyy said all these memories must be kept so that people can learn from history.

And yet, here now, we have the Syrian war, after the Iraq war, after the Afghanistan war….hmmm, makes one wonder at such coincidence. Then there are the skirmishes between Pakistan & India, Palestinians & Isreal, North & South Korea, etc. From all these, we know the weight of the world’s collective karma and it’s ever increasing heaviness on a daily basis. Is there any wonder why majority of the people are unhappy when we read the Wheel of Sharp Weapons and learns that karma repeats? I can’t begin to imagine the burden of the compassionate Gurus and teachers to teach and bring the sanity back in this world with so much ignorance and heavy karma. Many who had the merits to see, meet and receive teachings for the Buddha himself, ie the Dalai Lama, still chose to be ignorant with imposition of the ban on Dorje Shugden practice, justifying it with all sorts of unfounded reasons and then wishing to keep the sufferings in place even when the Dalai Lama is softening his stance towards Dorje Shugden. Om Benza Wiki Bitana Soha, may Lord Dorje Shugden spread his compassion to all and may the ban be swiftly lifted with full acceptance of enlightened Dorje Shugden and his beneficial practice.

Thank you Rinpoche for bringing us this article to remind us all the travesty of war which had included religious discrimination that lead to mass execution. May history be remembered and never to be repeated.

As I scroll through the post, there are only 2 emotions that comes to my mind. The first being anger, and the second is sadness. Anger because no one should be treated in the way that they are being treated. No man is lower than another person because of their believes or even where they are being born into. Being a Jewish, is something that they are being born into. It is not a choice that they had. Why should people be beaten or abused because of the difference that they do not choose. It is ridiculous.

Sadness because no one should be going through the pain that these Jewish had to go through. The abuse is not only physical, but also mental. It is mental torture to them as things like this should not be happening like this. It is sad that the man are just being beaten up like that. Or even have the women being shamed in the manner like what they have gone through is just pure cruelty. It does no benefit by the end of the day.

The only thing that is happening is that it adds on to the pain that these people when they are not able to do their practice freely.

This is very similar to the issue on Dorje Shugden where Dorje Shugden practitioners are being persecuted because of their religion choice. It is unfair for anyone to be treated in manners like this. We are all equal and should be all treated with equality.

Sad ,,,very sad knowing the secrets of Ukraine’s shameful holocaust.
My tears flows freely after looking at those horrible sad pictures even though it happen many years ago.Could not imagine how those who have witnessed that holocaust gone through.Just because of differences of religion and faith between them they have suffered, executed, tortured and so forth.French Catholic priest, Father Patrick Desbois, uncovered the secrets for all to see and understand of Ukraine’s holocaust’.Its a good for us and the rest of the world to know and told to younger generation. How Dorje Shugden practitioners are treated in Tibet and outside of Tibet was similar to this holocaust in Ukraine.Dorje Shugden practitioners due to the ban and discrimination against them but nothing compared to the innocent Jewish people.
May all the conflicts will end soon so as all do live harmonous and peaceful .

It makes one sick in the stomach viewing this pictorial holocaust by the Nazis simply because these people are Jews. Are they also not human beings, they are insanely killed, murdered for their beliefs in another faith.
History is repeating itself as can been seen with the example on the current wars between Israel and the Arabs, from this we can learn that it clearly defines the law of causation and effect. Though it can be argued that these Arabs are of a different faith but no one can deny the universal law on cause and effect. What are the reasons for these senseless wiping out of another religion, it all boils down to human’s superiority over a weaker opponent, enjoying the power to have dominion over a lesser and weaker country. This supremacy would continue indefinitely as long as human kind fails to abide by their proper religious teachings. I would view all these as belonging to a country collective karma.
One may ask on how we can stop all these from continuing I do not see an end at this moment because basically the world has tilted to an angle weigh down by negativity. It requires a lot more to keep this balance and perhaps an intervention from God would be timely before the world end itself with nuclear warfare, chemical weapons and the reality is, it really is looming around the corners.

Just because they were Jews and did not adopt a religion similar to others, the Jews were humilated and murdered one by one in Ukraine during WW2. Seventy years on, from end of the second world war, these are the shocking scale of the Nazi-inspired holocaust in Ukraine which is finally revealed by a french catholic Priest. As photographed and recorded, it is said,”The catholic priest, Father Desbois, whose grand-father was said to be a french political prisoner, was unapologetic over his campaign in Ukraine. Unless the lesson is learned from the holocraust “Tomorrow will be the same story’, he said. The lessons to be learned are practical and the details needed to be exposed for one and all to see and understand. It is said that Hitler had planned to eradicate over half of Ukraine’s population and by 1945, some three million non-Jewish Ukrainians had been murdered by the Germans in addition to those killed in the Holocaust! As historian Mikahail Tyaglyy said, “the truth about the Holocaust in Ukraine must be taught to young people”. It is important to all times and all generations, radical extremism and anti-semism still exists and this is why it must be taught.” May all Negativity and degeneration be ended. May bliss and justice prevail like the waxing moon for all, including our Dorje Shugden’s Ban. May it be auspicious for all sufferers to enjoy the glory of Joy and perfection. Om Benza Wiki Bitana Zoha.

These pictures are a powerful evidence that evokes compellingly strong emotions in all who see them. It is pure hatred, discrimination and terrible karma to be killed just because of one’s ethnicity. It is terrible proof of our lack of humanity.

You can see that when someone powerful decides to sideline and discriminate a group of people, others would join in as well with their own agenda in mind. It’s incredible how civilization of science, industrialization and so forth has degenerated towards the decision to get rid of a single race.

No matter how affluent we become or how far we advance in our scientific achievements, we remain no different than savages when it comes down to men who allow discrimination, cruelty and inhumanity to rein free. Even animals do not stoop so low as to kill their own kind for petty reasons.

Although an extreme similarity, it is still similar in which discrimination is meted out with Dorje Shugden practitioners. Its good that in today’s age of mass media and social media, discrimination would never be allowed to grow into such massive scale. Nevertheless, we still have to highlight the injustices of discrimination against Shugden practitioners.

  8. Choong on Sep 16, 2016 at 5:28 pm

The Jews were not the only group singled out by Hitler’s Nazi regime and its copycats.

An estimated half a million Gypsies, at least a quarter million mentally /physically disabled persons, and more than three million Soviet prisoners-of-war were also victims.

Jehovah’s Witnesses, homosexuals, Social Democrats, Communists, partisans, trade unionists, Polish intelligentsia and other undesirables were also victims of the hate and aggression.

It’s a weird fact but hate does not discriminate. The hate arising from a group of people against Dorje Shugden practitioners is the same hate that arose in the era of the Nazis. How can the world generally or HH Dalai Lama specifically not do something to stop this cancer?

Buddhism is one of the most ancient belief systems and is practiced today by nearly 350 million people around the world.
Bettany Mary Hughes is an English historian, author, and broadcaster, specialising in classical history. Bettany Hughes travelled to the seven wonders of the Buddhist world. Where she documented a unique insight into the seven wonders that explained the long and rich history of Buddhism 2500 years ago . Truly fascinating documentary that’s one should watch. Started off her journey with Bodh Gaya in India, the Bodanath Stupa in Nepal, the Temple of The Tooth in Sri Lanka, Wat Pho Temple in Thailand, Angkor Wat in Cambodia, the Giant Buddha in Hong Kong and the Hsi Lai Temple in the United States. At each location, she meets with Buddhist scholars who explain the different concepts that form the core of Buddhist philosophy, giving insight into the long and rich history of Buddhism. Interesting sharing.

Religious discrimination remains a significant issue globally, impacting various aspects of life. The Dorje Shugden controversy in Tibetan Buddhism involves accusations of religious discrimination against devotees of the Poweful Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. Dorje Shugden was a powerful Protector associated with the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. H H the Dalai Lama previously practice Dorje Shugden’s practice but somehow later discouraged the practice, citing concerns about sectarianism ,its perceived role as a spirit. Dorje Shugden’s practitioners have reported feeling ostracized and discriminated against by the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) and those supporting the Dalai Lama. The controversy has divided the Tibetan community and has been a source of contention and tension. CTA had breached the rights of every Dorje Shugden practitioners to what they pray . Many families are torn apart by this. Dorje Shugden people had to break away from their monasteries .Religious freedom and human rights are interconnected. Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion regardless of race and faith. Religious freedom is one of the most fundamental of human rights. The discrimination that Dorje Shugden practitioners are experiencing today has similarities to other historic bigotry and prejudices such example was the African American Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s,and the Women’s Suffrage Movement. Racism affects virtually every country in the world. It denies people their full human rights just because of their colour, race, ethnicity, descent or national origin. The most prevalent discrimination that we see today are national origin and race discrimination. May there be peace, unity, harmony and based on compassion, acceptance and universal freedom of religious choice without discrimination or recriminations of any kind.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

The Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala, India is said to be thousands of years old, built in the Dravidian style, and houses more secrets than most people can ever dream of. That’s interesting. This temple is a legendary secret chamber that has remained unopened for centuries. Legends and local beliefs it is protected by powerful deities and a curse. The door is said to be sealed with a mystical spell, and it is believed that anyone attempting to open it without proper rituals will face grave consequences, having met with mysterious deaths or terrible misfortune. Locals had warns that attempting to open Vault B without proper rituals and respect for the deities could unleash untold calamities and misfortune. Stories abound of previous attempts to open the vault had failed that resulted in terrifying visions and other supernatural occurrences, and tragic fates for those involved. Some believe that the vault contained ancient treasures , wealth and divine relics . Previously temple workers reportedly tried to force open the door, resulting in the terrifying experiences described in legends. It’s not just a place of worship but also a vault of mysteries. Modern attempts using technology have also failed to open the door, as if some force is protecting it. Every attempt to open Vault B has failed. The door remains closed, and no one know of the contents within, whether wealth, divine relics, or something else entirely, are unknown to the world . No one dare to try opening it since at least the 1880s recording to reports. Interesting article .

Revisit this interesting truth where not many people knew the actual story behind . With great effort and research finally the story unfolded. In Tibet, Oracles play, an important part in principal roles assisting governmental decision-making and providing intelligence revelation, religion, doctrine, and prophecy. To this day the Tibetan government still believe and rely in Nechung Oracle. When Nechung oracle took trance, it is actually spirit Nyatrul who has causes problems and misprophecies. Nechung is bound by oath to protect the Dharma. Nechung prophecies are unreliable, most probably given by Nyatrul spirit to the Tibetan government. Such as wrong medication given to the 13 th Dalai Lama as prescribed by the Nechung Oracle. Another misprophecies was during the British invasion. If it was really Nechung who took trance of the Oracle, these types of misprophecies would not have happen. As mentioned in the 6th Dalai Lama biography, we cannot trust or rely on Nechung’s prophecies. It was said that Nyatrul not Nechung who created the problems and harm to Dorje Shugden . It must have told HH the Dalai Lama to ban Dorje Shugden .
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor Jean Ai for this interesting article.

In Tibetan Buddhism, water offerings, particularly the seven or eight bowls offering, are a common practice used to express gratitude, cultivate merit, and purify the mind. The seven bowls represent essential aspects of offerings and can be offered daily, along with other items like flowers, incense, and lamps. Water offerings are probably the most common offering made in Tibetan Buddhism. Offering any item of value to the three jewels is the antidote to greed and attachment and helps to cultivate generosity. It is a powerful practice that can help us develop positive qualities such as generosity, devotion, and selflessness. By making water offering, we are creating good karma for ourselves and all sentient beings in the future. Great explanations and teachings all about water offerings.

H.H. Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche (1878–1941), also known as Dechen Nyingpo Jampa Tenzin Trinlay Gyatso, was one of the great lamas of the twentieth century. was a highly influential teacher in Tibet and a prominent lama in the 20th century. He was the root guru of the present Dalai Lama’s tutors and many other Tibetan lamas who brought the Dharma to the West. His teachings, particularly his book “Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand,” are significant in the Gelugpa tradition until this days.He was the root guru of the present Dalai Lama’s tutors, Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, and a teacher to many other Gelug lamas who fled Tibet. He had brought the Dharma to the West after 1959. His teachings covered various aspects of the Tibetan Buddhist path, including the seven-point mind training and the stages of the path to enlightenment. Rinpoche’s teachings are so famous that thousands of people would come from far and wide to attend. He was an extraordinary master for the Heruka Body Mandala and the Vajrayogini practice. Wow ……one of the many famous stories been told of how Heruka actually appeared to Pabongka when he visited Cimburi in Tibet and how Heruka image spoke to him. Interesting biography of a great master of all times.

The practice of Sangha in Buddhism involves building and cultivating a supportive community of practitioners who engage in shared spiritual practice, often focusing on mindfulness and concentration. This community provides mutual support, guidance, and encouragement on the path of self-discovery. The Sangha is not just a gathering of people; it’s a collective energy of mindfulness and compassion that benefits all members. It provides a supportive environment for individuals on their spiritual journey, offering guidance, encouragement, and a sense of belonging. Sharing experiences and insights within the Sangha can accelerate the learning process.

Wat Rong Khun better known as the White Temple, is a Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai province, Thailand. The gold symbolizes how people focus on worldly desires and money. The white building represents the idea to make merit and to focus on the mind. It is owned by a succesful Thai businessman who opened it to visitors in 1997. Awesome….This temple stands out through the white colour and use of pieces of glass that sparkle in the sun. The white colour signifies the purity of Buddha while the glass symbolizes Buddha’s wisdom. Located 3 hour drive from Chiang Mai built to honour and pay tribute to sacred Buddhist figures. Over time, temples grew in prominence and is one of the famous temples to visit in Thailand. I have visited years back its simple stunning temple which truly love the design and architecture .

Sak Yant, a traditional Thai tattooing practice, involves sacred geometrical and animal designs. Its often accompanied by Pali phrases, and is believed to offer power, protection, charisma, and other benefits to the wearer. Sak Yant tattoos are deeply rooted in Buddhist and spiritual beliefs, with each design and symbol carrying specific meanings and purported powers. Many designs are believed to provide protection against evil spirits, misfortune, and danger. Sak Yant tattoos are traditionally applied by monks or masters using a needle and ink, and the process is often accompanied by chants and blessings. I personally have not seen one yet . Sound interesting.

With her visit hopefully more people will get to know more of our Kechara . She had made a video with and Pastor David Lai all about Buddhist Arts. She openly admitted interested in Buddhist art . Buddhist art pieces have given her home a contemporary edge. Art was important to Buddhist religious life. It was not only part of ritual and worship but also served to transmit religious ideas, and artistic styles between cultures. Do agree with her statement ,…..if you want to change your life, change the way you think, because everything begins with you.”

n their theoretical model, rudeness has this impact on our ability to think because it engenders negative sadness, anger. Researchers have found that common negative behaviours can spread easily and have significant consequences. The best way to avoid rude people is to meet their acts of rudeness with kindness. Exposure to neurotoxins in society is not new. Children today are raised in an environment that is much different from those days. Nowadays they are exposed to behaviours, profane language, hostilities and stress from which we adults, raised a generation ago. Studies have shown that children exposed to serious psychological trauma during childhood are at risk of suffering increased psychiatric disorders. Interesting read.

Revisit this blog again . Reading comments in this blog Rich people have substantial assets and income, providing a sense of security and freedom from financial worries. Owning high-end cars, designer clothing and everything they want with their money. Rich people often have more time for leisure, hobbies, and travel, allowing them to pursue interests and experiences. They may live in large, luxurious homes and have or apartments, often in desirable locations and having personalized services. The fundamental difference in mindset between the rich and the poor is, the rich have understood a very simple principle money makes money. Rich people see money as an opportunity, while poor people see it as something to be earned. Poor people work hard for their money. It is the heart that makes a man rich. He is rich according to what he is, not according to what he has. Not he who has much is rich, but he who gives much. The primary difference between rich people and poor people is how they handle their wealth. My thought been rich in this world it is not what we take up, but what we give up, that makes us rich.

Found this old post …disturbing. Having a name especially a Bar linked to Buddha to be disrespectful towards Buddhism. After much controversy the owner had it removed. The Buddha Bar located in Sabah by a young owner which opened without much thought had many people complaining. Later was forced to have its controversial name changed to ‘Peacock Garden’ and had apologised for the controversial name. As a devout Buddhist, the name ‘Buddha Bar’ which serves alcohol, is disrespectful to the revered Buddha.

Siberia, considered the heartland of shamanism inhabited by many different ethnic groups, and many of its peoples observe shamanistic. Many of the indigenous communities reclaiming their traditional spiritual and healing practices . Interesting. Siberian shamanism is often called Tengerism, involves various rituals, including drumming, chanting, trance states, and offerings to nature spirits and ancestors. This religious practice has deep roots in Siberia and Central Asia in recent years with roots in the Turkic and Mongolic cultures. Many who have been live in a remote part of Russia, have preserved their shamanic traditions due to their isolation. Many customs of Tengrism are still been practiced where they emphasizes a deep respect for nature and its various spirits, including those of the earth, water, and mountains. They do believe in the continued existence of souls and the importance of honouring their ancestors.
Thank you Rinpoche sharing this ancient religion.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
