Traditional Chinese Medicine
If you have some chronic problems, migraines, twisted ligaments, chronic fevers, bruised toes/fingers then Chinese Medicine and acupuncture is truly excellent.
I have gone for treatments many times and have very good results. It is important to find a skilled, educated doctor who has years of experience. Must check his credentials very carefully because you don’t want just anyone sticking needles in you even if it is gold!
The herbal medicines are also very effective, but you must try and let the doctor know how it affects you, it is not uncommon to have allergic reactions. Chinese medical treatments take time because they work with your body to heal itself, so you have to be patient.
If wish to do slimming or lose weight, remove cysts through Chinese medicine, acupuncture and herbs, I have not seen good results. In fact some Chinese doctors might make you more heavier than when you started with them!

I believe more in Chinese medicine because it helps me a lot! Chinese medicine takes some time to heal our bodies.
I think most Chinese families in Malaysia would have some encounter with traditional Chinese medicine. Its an influence brought down to us from our grandparents who were immigrants from China. Traditional Chinese Medicine is to be taken for long term as maintenance of health and usually is not effective if one is impatient. The supposedly effective ones most of the time tasted awful or terribly bitter. I like the cooling drinks from herbs as it tends to be mildly sweet from the rock crystal (crystalized sugar). In recent years, traditional Chinese medicine is making a strong come back as people are discovering western medicine to be quite harmful if taken often or for long term. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this post with us.
Traditional Chinese do have a lot of success. My late uncle was my physician for very many years. In fact, every time, we visit him, he would take our pulse just to keep an eye on our health and he had always managed to detect our problems in its initial stages before we were fully aware and thus made our healing that much faster. He was such a very good physician that till this day, 21 years later, I still miss him as I cannot find another traditional Chinese medicine doctor that can measure up to him.
Due to his influence, we still have this family habit of herbal soups every so often to maintain the general balance of our body. But, sad to say, many of the younger generation do not quite believe in this and even are against it as they believe that these dried plants cannot help in any way. They dislike the herbal taste, they dislike the idea of dried stuff sitting around before being used, they generally dislike the old ways.
I just hope that that as China comes to the world’s notice, their traditional ways, especially of healing will come back to the forefront among overseas Chinese again and there will be more good physicians again.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing Traditional Chinese Medicine.Well i know some of the Chinese medicine they have their good quality and very good in treating certain aliments but as long as they do not use steroids it will be fine.I have seen alarge scale of patients having side effect on it.It damages the kidneys and those patients ended in renal failure.
To me one should get a skilled, educated and qualified doctor who has years of experience using traditional chinese medicines to treat chronic ailments.Chinese medical treatments at times take longer period but if one is patience enough one should have a good results.
For me simple ailments chinese herbs treatment is effective to use.
Traditional Chinese Medicine has its merits even though it generally take longer time, but it is meant to treat the body by working on the root cause of the problem. It is also because of it takes long and produce different reactions, TCM doctors or healers who are unethical will take advantage of it. Therefore I believe that reputable and experienced doctors and healers are the key to optimizing the effect of TCM. Thank you, Rinpoche, for this sharing.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing about the benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which may take time to do the healing but which generally leaves no side-effects.Very popular from the traditional Chinese Herbal Cures Medicine Chest are herbs for coughs, colds and fever. Acupuncture is now much sought after for chronic diseases of the bones, joints and nerves -arthritis and frozen shoulders, and even for high blood pressure.
A word of caution though. Be sure to check out the credentials of the TCM doctor or sinseh. You need to get the skilled and highly experienced ones.
Furthermore, be sure that you are not taking herbal medicines off the shelves of the supermarket stores. Always consult a sinseh, unless these are already established and widely recognised brands.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing about traditional medicine. I also believe in traditional medicine from my beloved granny who took care of me since i was born. She has many types prescriptions that we always boil as nourishing soup for the family. Some prescription is for the backbone and it also helps to lower the blood pressure and gets rid of the wind in the body. Many of her friends took this prescription and improved a lot. Including my sister Vivian herself who had a back injury when she was in college.
谢谢仁波切分享中药的好处。中药在中国已经有几千年的历史记录,所以是有它的根据和效力。中药多处是注重在调理和临床方面,所以是需要时间来治疗。还有中药比较温性,药力也不会伤身。
I have tried going to some Chinese sinseh, the medication that they have given me all works perfectly and swiftly. So far the ones that I have tried, I did not experience any negative effects form the medication or the treatment methods. It Has all worked for me and it is very beneficial.
I have the opportunities to get treatment from Dr Jiang (from China) to do acupuncture for me when he was in Malaysia (he has gone back to China now).
I had hypertension for more than 15 years and my blood pressure is quite high. When I was treated, my blood pressure goes back to quite normal and even my western doctor is very surprised and asked me to continue with my acupuncture.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has proved to be very effective and I wish Kechara will have our own TCM clinic.
To my understanding, TCM may be slow in treatment but will do no harm to our body. It is good to use it to maintain our health. I have heard that people use TCM to complement the treatment for diseases too. I do believe in its healing power.
There are more and more people believing in Traditional Chinese Medicine, it has its advantages but not something can cure all.
It’s a myth that Traditional Chinese Medicine or method is slow in showing effect. For TCM is dealing with the source or cause of the problem not the syndroms. For example when you have headache, other method will deal with the syndrom of headache, not the cause that make you having headache.
And, headache is a syndrom not illness, many problems could make us have headache – you might knock your head or your shoulder’s muscles are too tense could also make you having headache.
When we say other method is faster than TCM just because they deal with syndroms, to stop the syndrom that mnake you think the methos is effective, in fact it might not be so.
I LOVE traditional Chinese medicine. I grew up on the stuff and although the tonics and soups can sometimes be incredibly bitter (and my sweet tooth HATES it), they really do work. I like how TCM believes that prevention is better than cure, and it also cures people by making sure their bodies return to a natural balance instead of masking it or pumping strong drugs into people’s bodies which will alter something else. It’s actually quite like Tibetan medicine in many ways.
In today’s modern age, the so-called diseases of civilization such as coronary heart disease and obesity have seem to become part of our living condition. Though in part, their origin of causes may be traced to lack of activity and appropiate regular excercises, which can do much more to prevent them. But excuses are always being given as ” Where got time la, have to work hard for survival and to feed the needies”. Secondly, due to habitual dependency on the numerous new drugs being produced every year, many patients and even “physicians” tend to rely on these medication for cure, while the fundamental preventive measures to arrest the causes are overlooked. However, with the rapid development of the holistic approach to health care in recent years, there have been growing intersts in Oriental preventive and therapeutic methods used together with Chinese Medicine in maintaining good health and promoting longetivity. With certain aspects of chinese herbal medicine used to improve blood circulation, lowering of blood temperatures and bodily heat, as well as cleansing stomachs of impurities together with Chinese excercising therapy, are said to be effective in improving the physical fitness and the general well-being of the Ederly, Middle-aged and younger generations of Today’s society.
Traditional Chinese Medicine are quite popular nowadays. I notice even the Western doctors believe in Chinese medicine. There is a difference when you take western medicine you get quick relieve and there are side effects. With chinese medicine it takes a long time to get the effects of cure and relieve. But it is safe and no side effects. Now its much easier to take chinese medicine as they made into capsules and it is easy to swallow as chinese herbs are very bitter. Even the liquid herbs are boiled in the clinics ready for people when they are needed. Otherwise when you have boil the herbs at home it takes hours and so much trouble.
hi elsie, r u a chinese medical practitioner? May i know more about the treatments u provide and information of ur whereabouts. tq. My contact is 016-3887055 (Ms Tammy Low)
In chinese medicine or Naturopathy we treat the body same as the eco system with the 5 elements. Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and water. A practitioner has to balance the 5 elements in the body. Therefore one has to be patient when undergoing the treatment. In Traditional medicine also we practice the 12 meridian lines and each is govern by an organ. A sprain in the ankle is caused by blockage of energy of the bladder therefore it is blockage has to be cleared to increase the energy and improved blood circulation. We also study the tongue during diagnosis. The colour of the tongue and also the coating on the tongue different areas represent different organs. I hope you are not bored by me. I dont use needles but I can help relieve pain in 5 to 10 minutes. I wish you all have a healthy body and healthy mind.
I practice Hatha Yoga with excellent results.
