Tsem Rinpoche Bio Group Goes to USA
Kechara is doing a book and creating a movie on my life story.
Actually I’m not anyone special, but my teacher in the past around 8 years back (2002) insisted I do a bio book on myself in which I vehemently asked to be excused from doing..But my teacher insisted…But as time passes, many people inquire about my life and it seems the direction to go. So my teacher as usual is fautless in his instructions to me…I humbly thank Him.
Irene, Pastor Loh Seng Piow (SP) and Mr Khong have gone to Tibet to research my relatives (father’s side of family) and also Tsem Monastery (Yara region, Kham) and area of my previous incarnation. They took many pictures and talk to many. Relatives from my previous incarnation are still alive amazingly. They were happy to know I am here and requested me to visit them.
Irene, Khong and Pastor Loh Seng Piow also visited Xianjang and have met with my mother’s side of the family…and had a warm reception. Lots of family there…Later many more pictures and information in the form of the book will come out from Kechara Media and Publications.
This morning a group has flown off to USA to do research for my biography. There is a group of 11 students of Kechara and professionals on this strip that will span New York, New Jersey, California, Virginia and Florida. They will go to document the places I grew up, school and where I lived. They will interview many of my family members and close friends in the US. This will all be valuable information for the biography book. They will take pictures of Rashi Gempil Ling Temple in Howell New Jersey where I first recieved refuge, tantric initiations and met His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the first time in 1976…My first guru, H.E. Kensur Lobsang Tharchin Rinpoche resided in this temple until his passing…
This Tsem Rinpoche Bio Project is taking off.
The wonderful picture below was taken this morning when they were at our international airport in Kuala Lumpur with a short transit in Hong Kong then onto New York.
My relatives and friends in America are expecting them. I have presents for them carried by the Bio group…the bio group coordinator is no other than my PA Beng Kooi (BK) who has contacted my relatives and friends who are ready and willing to help.
I wish them a good trip and I know they will have one.
There are nine of them pictured here, and two more (Ruby and Jean Mei) have already arrived in New York and waiting for the group excitedly!!

Revisiting this post, I’ve just realised that my father went to do research in China and Tibet, and then my mum, sister and I went to do research in the United States… well, my dad’s the only one out of us who speaks Mandarin and we’re all better English speakers than he is hehehe
How humble for Rinpoche to say that he is nothing special because having done the USA research trip, I’ve learned that reincarnation really does exist. How else can you explain a 7 year old boy turning up to the temples every chance he gets, to stare at the Buddha statues and ask question after question? And not just turn up, but actually face the wrath of his parents (and a mother suffering from schizophrenia) in order to do so? Most 7 year olds would have given up (the scolding’s not worth it, etc) but Rinpoche did not and learning more Dharma and being near monks was all he wanted to do.
And to say he is nothing special… how else can you explain Rinpoche being adopted into one of the few towns in the United States at the time to have Gelug temples?!
Today, we met Ani-la Lobsang Drolma from Thubten Dhargye Ling Dharma Centre. She is a wonderful and sincere nun who was close to Rinpoche, as close as brother and sister. I truly enjoyed our meeting with her. She spoke of Rinpoche’s guru devotion to H.H. Kyabje Zong Rinpoche and Geshe Tsultrim Gyaltsen. It was inspiring and many a times, so beautiful, that it touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes. I am blessed to have met her.
Dear Rinpoche,
We are now in LA and about to set off for the day. Its exciting and I can’t wait to go to Thubten Dhargye Ling, the places you stayed in in LA and get on the bus route you used to take. This phase of your life, especially Thubten Dhargye Ling hold special meaning to you and I hope it will open my eyes too.
Sincerely,
Dee Dee
Documenting Rinpoche’s life in the form of a book and a movie will inspire many people for generations to come. I’m very happy for Sharon Saw who has just joined the group. I know that it is a project very close to her heart and that her contribution will be valuable. I wish the Bio Group a successful trip.
Day 2 – yesterday was Day 2. We visited RGL and went into the little room where Rinpoche received a lot of teachings from his first guru. Is it right to say… walking in the streets and temples you used to walk as a child, at times, I felt the imprints of your steps. I was in awe, … I don’t have the right words to describe it ..
I am looking forward to everyday.
Dear Rinpoche,
I have been ‘watching’ with great excitement and avid interest every step of this epoch-making trip that 11 Kecharians and dharma friends have undertaken, with the kindness of Rinpoche. And now, even more excitingly, Sharon is going to join them!As their narration of their trip unfolds, I feel that we, who are here in KL,are there with them seeing everything and hearing everything through their eyes and ears.
Last night, I decided to start this ‘journey’ into Rinpoche’s past from where it all started in Taiwan. So I logged into the earlier post detailing Rinpoche’s revisit of the place of your birth and the first seven years of your life’s journey.I cried and hurt inside of me because I was deeply touched by such great compassion of ONE who chose to be born into such a painful life and to suffer such tremendous hardship so as to bring dharma especially to us in Malaysia.
Dear Rinppoche, may we, your students never ever forget, even for one moment, how precious is the dharma you have so earnestly brought to us, at all cost to yourself.May we never ever forget how beholden we are to you.
We are so lucky to have Rinpoche guiding us and helping us to make our worthless life meaningful and worth-full.
I thank the bio group and Rinpoche’s never ending smses to keep us updated on what is happening on the opposite side of the globe.Rinpoche faced so much obstacles and difficulties during his younger days, the pain and anguish he had to face saddened me.
Just imagine a young boy, hiding under the blanket doing his prayers, cooked and served his parents and their guests, the huge backyard that he had to mow and rake the leaves and all the abuses and beatings he had to endure. Yet this young boy did not give up or swayed away from dharma.
It took a lot of courage for a young boy with no money and alone to run away. Yet this young boy finally made it after three attempts.
We are so fortunate that Rinpoche is now here with us and we should never forget Rinpoche’s kindness in bringing the dharma into our lives. We should be grateful to our Guru who has helped us tremndously. We should commit all the way into bringing Rinpoche’s vision of Kechara World Peace Center manifest!
Dear Rinpoche,
Words cannot describe my feelings for the past 2 days we have spent in the small town that you grew up. I let myself absorbing all of the events that have been happening the past 2 days. Day 1 – we met Sara. We walked on the street where Rinpoche played & we had the opportunity to see the house where Rinpoche lived. We visited the two temples. We listened to stories that are very consistent about Rinpoche. Recording all these events are opening my mind to possibilities. Possibilities that I am yet to be able to fulfill. I am looking forward to the days ahead. Thank you is a gestural words that I feel too limited in expressing my gratitude to be part of the team to research on your biography. Please feel my gratitude through how I feel and I, thank you from my heart.
Thank you.
Rinpoche’s history is so rich, there’s so much to find out about it. It is a big big honour to be part of the research team and a remarkable project to undertake with an amazing, knowledgeable and capable team. Being in New Jersey, tracing Rinpoche’s childhood has been surreal, very interesting and humbling – and it is only Day 1! There is so much more to come and I am looking forward to each day. Having this opportunity at such an early stage of my spiritual journey is truly a privilege. Opportunities like these are so rare and sacred, that I now understand what it means when it is referred to as having enough merits to undertake something. I often wonder why me, and I have no answer to it. The only logical answer (for me anyways) is through the theory of cause and effect.
Thought of the day – Rinpoche’s childhood aligns and builds up to who he is today – he has never ever swayed away from the Dharma.
Dear Rinpoche,
I am truly blessed to be able to meet you so soon and be on this journey. To see the places you’ve grown up in, meet the people you’ve known in your childhood; learn, practice and live dharma along the way. For a newbie, I am overwhelmed at the generosity and care you have shown to us & the sharing of the liaisons.
May my contributions live up to your good works and help bring benefit to others.
Thank you Rinpoche & to my sponsor, Martin Chow.
What a very unique and amazing group! Bon Voyage!
To the 11 Kecharians who are now in the States to do research for Rinpoche’s bio, I rejoice for your dedication and devotion towards this once in a lifetime opportunity.
“Dharma is a career”. As Kechara grows bigger and bigger and more projects coming up, those working in Kechara will be traveling more and more. Whether we are on stipend or a volunteer, we must set our priorities right and “commit all the way”.
Rinpoche’s bio will be an inspiration to many and I can’t wait for Rinpche’s bio to be published and the movie to be released.
Thank you to this wonderful team and the sponsors for creating the causes for this project to take off!
Without a cause there won’t be results. Becuase Rinpoche listens to his Guru’s advice to write a bio of his life and also Rinpoche believes and trust there is a reason to it. As Kechara is expanding very fast there are lots of people who wants to know more about the Spiritual Director. He feels this the time to start. And so many of his energetic students are ready to help him. When the bio of Rinpoche’s life is known to the World then there won’t be problem promoting KWPC. As the World would have known the founder already from his biography through the books and movies. I rejoice for all who are involved in this project.
Undoubtedly when the Bio is published it will inspire everyone who reads it. I am sure this will not be any ordinary Bio for it will be filled with lots dharma teachings (if we read between the lines). I will be the first in the queue to get it.
In years to come, Rinpoche’s Biography and stories of Rinpoche’s s journey will grow and become more and more crucial as an authority on living the spiritual life. Rinpoche’s dealing of the past, seeking of spirituality, practicing great guru devotion, Rinpoche’s words, thoughts, feelings and actions…all in the one book, will be the Lamrin,…alive and unplugged.
What a blessing to be able to bring the book and movie to life and place Rinpoche’s teaching (by example) as one of the greats, of the Masters.
I totally agreed with Rinpoche and Datuk May, they said‘DHARMA IS A CAREER..!’ How fortunate for those, who has chosen to work in Kechara Organisation. Under H E Tsem Tulku Rinpoche’s guidance spiritually you will be benefited. And with Rinpoche’s kindness and loving care, He WILL MAKE SURE you and your love once are well taking care off.
I rejoiced for those who have chosen to go to USA to do research for Rinpoche’s biography. This group of Rinpoche’s student has been working very hard and closely to Rinpoche, and planned since many years ago, it’ll be a meaningful trip to them.
Most exciting is, can’t wait for Rinpoche’s biography and life story movie to be published!
Love, angel
I am looking forward to helping the team with all the work that will be done in the US. Thank you for making this opportunity available and I am very excited. As Datuk May says, such an assignment is rare.
May whatever contribution I make bring benefit to all.
With all the preparations for US visas, flight tickets, accommodations and letters to Rinpoche’s friends and relatives, I must congratulate the team to have got it all and off to the most wonderful assignment of their lives, the documentation for the Biography of our Guru, Tsem Tulku Rinpoche.
What is even more exciting is that this is only but the beginning, from hereon there will be pictorials, books and to culminate into a movie.
For me,I admire how much Rinpoche will share with all sentient beings to bring Dharma into their lives. Rinpoche lives only for the Dharma and his life story will be inspiring for us to take on the spiritual part to benefit people and gain inner happiness even our efforts may be at a very low first step beginning.
Many of the 11 people who left for USA, will realise that such a chance to travel for work do not happen all the time. This bring back to my mind what Rinpoche says “Dharma is a career” which will bring much satisfaction to those who think so. How true!
Yes, those working in Kechara will soon be traveling more and more often as Kechara grows and grows.
Thank you, Rinpoche and many others who sponsored, assisted with this trip.
How fortunate this group is to go and see the actual places where Rinpoche grew up and meet Rinpoche’s relatives and friends. It has been a few years planning for this trip before it could come to fruition so I am happy that it is finally happening! Finally – those who have created the causes and enough merits to produce Rinpoche’s biography get to go! I very much hope that Rinpoche’s biography which will be prepared by those going on this trip will finally be published. And I can’t wait to see the movie!
I live in Hallandale Beach which is five minutes away from Miami…Please get in touch with me so we can meet. It is imperative for me and my family….Namaste. We can all have a great vegetarian meal Miami style!!!
When I read the bio that was already posted…
I felt so amazing because I felt there could be no other teacher in the world who’s life story could inspire me so strongly, and at the same time I could relate to nearly every Rinpoche has ever faced with some parallels to my own life.
Rinpoche has been down in the worst dumps and yet has climbed to the highest mountains of life. I believe this project was a wise choice and it will be VERY BIG, and FAR REACHING.
