You won’t believe this!

There are just some events that happen that you can’t believe. There is so many different types of phenomena and they don’t always fit into our perceived experiences. This story I found on FB and thought I’d share it here.

Tsem Rinpoche

The incident occurred in the Indian state of Punjab. Two puppies fell into a well. Their mother ran near the well and started barking, and attracted the attention of the owner, who looked inside and to his surprise there was a king cobra at the bottom, which didn’t pose any threat to the puppies. Moreover, the reptile, looked after the puppies, by not allowing them to cross to the other side, where they could possibly drown, when the well is filled with water.

In general, they spent around 48 hours together at the bottom and in these 48 hours the cobra sat quietly next to them. When help finally arrived from the forest department, the cobra slithered to the other end of the well. The puppies were not injured at all and the reptile was immediately taken into the woods and was released into the wild.

Even the most deadly and dangerous creatures on earth know what Co-existence and mutual assistance is. The human race is in this respect far behind, and this is our biggest drawback.

Something incredible happened , it’s a rare incident where a King cobra did not bites but turn friendly . Cobras are large, venomous snakes with a trademark hood, and their bites can kill a dog within only an hour. Two puppies were lucky enough to meet a kind and friendly cobra. A man, who lived in the Indian state of Punjab, realized that two of his puppies were missing after being alerted by the mother dog. The incessant barking led the man to a deep well. Shocking to see the two puppies sitting close to a king cobra . Couldn’t believe what he saw, the king cobra did not attack the two puppies instead protecting them. Most would have reacted as the man did and thought the cobra would attack the puppies. It seemed that the king cobra was protecting the two puppies and kept them in the safest part of the well. Incredible indeed . Later the two unharmed puppies were helped up, united with their mother and the owner . So as the king cobra and later released it back to the forest. This stories remind us how surprising animals can be and that not everything is always as it seem.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

I must say this is a very rare occurrence, I’m pretty most of us did not expect this to happen. Snakes are known to be very aggressive and venomous, especially a cobra in this case. Looks like our projections and expectations can be wrong, I’m not saying that we should attempt to go near a cobra or any snakes, of course not.

A lot of things that we perceive as difficulties or dangerous may not always be “evil”, we tend to abuse, sorry for lack of a better word, people or animals that we find useless to us. What I mean abuse is not literally physical attacks, we either give them a cold shoulder or we just couldn’t be bothered.

I’m glad to know that such incident was captured by someone, I have definitely learnt something from this article, and that is not to judge a book by it’s cover. But of course, there are some things or people who are just pure evil, but we should not allow these experiences to judge our surroundings.

I think most of us have a soft spot for puppies. Thos puppies look so scared. This is happy ending story, sometimes we cannot see the karma why the cobra did not strike ad kill the pups.

  6. Uncle Eddie on Aug 15, 2013 at 4:37 pm

Wild animals generally live by one simple rule! Eat or be eaten. It is really astounding and unbelievable for these two lucky puppies! Even animals that live together sometime fight and injured each other, if not get killed or eaten up. It may be because of the mother’s barking that kept the copra at bay – or it could be the king copra could just had a big fat meal and feel too full to eat! Nevetheless, all start well and end well, with the puppies being rescued unharmed and the king copra released safely backed into the wild.

  7. Jutika Lam on Aug 8, 2013 at 11:20 pm

    Dear Rinpoche,

This story is just so touching to know how even though a Cobra may be a snake, dangerous and the one of the most dangerous animal species on Earth, I think that animals should not be taken for granted because sometimes even animals that may seem like enemies could just be the closest of friends.

It is amazing how they are so many touching stories about animals that may seem to be enemies but yet they are both protective of each other.

    Thank you Rinpoche for sharing!

    Love
    Jutika

  8. Andrew Boon on Aug 4, 2013 at 5:27 pm

I believe the reason behind this is purely instinctual… meaning, animals kills because they have to survive, its a need for survival. They do not merely kill for the sake of killing, that is the basis of my logic. For us humans, it is quite the opposite, at least for some… we are completely blinkered into thinking we are way above all other species and hence tend to think we can do whatever we want with no repercussions… well there is one… its called KARMA!

  9. keem on Aug 2, 2013 at 11:46 am

    Human,we should reflect on oneself.

  10. Cliff on Jul 29, 2013 at 10:07 pm

This is incredible, a venomous snake worldly known to be the deadliest snake in the animal kingdom. Anyone would not have imagined such a snake be protecting any other living being other than its own. This makes me feel that any adult animal would have a conscience to understand the innocence of a baby animal. Every living being whether an animal or a human being, when they are born they are all innocent. It is the environment and society that influences to be lead into delusions. I’m really glad that that king cobra was there to have protected those puppies from the water in the well and the authorities did the right thing to free it into the wilderness, what a beautiful and touching story that some animals can be wrongly projected as dangerous when in fact the deadliest of animals can still show compassion to another living being other than its own. Thank you for sharing this story with us Rinpoche.

  12. Low KHJB on Jul 27, 2013 at 5:27 pm

Thank you for the sharing Rinpoche. Truly amazing ,how the deadly could be kept in an confine area with two puppies without harming it.By nature it could just kill the puppies with it deadly venom ,But it chose to keep the puppies company.
Very clearly,it shows that the snake had a choice. When it did not felt threatened ,it did not harm the puppies. The snake only strike when it need food to survive. They had no evil intent in any way but only to defend itself when threatened.
As for human in the higher level of evolution,we tend to do things for the sake of pleasure and most of the time we tend to look the other way when it come to logic and compassion towards other living beings.
I the true sense we should be the one to defend the weak and helpless as we had a choice too.

  13. Felix Kong on Jul 27, 2013 at 10:41 am

Amazing, still wondering why King Cobra didn’t eat this two puppies ,opposites giving fully protection and caring for them . Good lesson to learn . Thank you Rinpoche for sharing.

  14. michele on Jul 26, 2013 at 4:13 am

May the king cobra how protected the puppies and show compassion now happieness, be enlighten, and liberated

  15. Julia Tan on Jul 25, 2013 at 12:44 am

What came into my mind was the karmic connection that these 2 puppies have with the kind copra king. May be they were mother and sons before, may be they helped each other before in their past life. this story opened up my mind that no matter what or who you are, there’s a Buddha in you. Even though you are as danger as the copra king, you can still choose to be kind or cruel, to love or to hate. According to karma, the copra and the puppies will surely meet again in their future life and help each other again. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing the beautiful story.

It is so amazing that even a snake can take care of dogs.
Its unbelievable its such a shame that even poisonous snakes can take care of dogs without injuring them.
The dogs is so fortunate that they were not injured or harmed.
This is a really inspiring post that i would never forget.
    Thank you Seng Piow

Animals are without the full forms and without much intelligence like human, and yet this cobra protected the two unfortunate puppies in the well with compassion instead of taking them as meal. Most of us in perfect human grown body with more intelligence than animals, should show more compassion and care to every living being around us. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this wonderful story. May the cobra take a good rebirth next life and benefit more living beings in future.

  18. Julien Roth on Jul 23, 2013 at 7:46 pm

This is soo cool! I would have never imagined this cobra to actually help these puppies. When i first read this, i thought that when the cobra was in the same well with the puppies, it would have killed them. But i was so wrong. What an amazing story.

  19. Serena on Jul 22, 2013 at 11:48 pm

Thanks Rinpoche for sharing this. As nature habitual, cobra would have attacked those puppies where there is chance. But in fact, this cobra is not taking advantage but to protect the puppies from danger. That’s a good story to share with and learn from. 🙂

  20. Sharon Saw on Jul 22, 2013 at 7:07 pm

This is an amazing story about the king cobra saving the puppies. We always think that we know the nature of certain animals – e.g. the cobra’s nature is aggressive and to kill, yet in this instance, the cobra’s behaviour is completely contradictory. All sentient beings do have buddha nature and perhaps this cobra’s buddha nature emerged just when it was needed. Animals act from instinct while human beings are supposed to be able to act from rationale, yet humans are sometimes more inhumane than animals. This story should give people food for thought.

  21. abby f on Jul 22, 2013 at 6:28 pm

This story tells me that the mother natures in all the sentient beings are the same. The potential to love and to be loved are the same in all sentient beings even though they don’t read, think, talk or act like us. Love/kindness is not something that needs to convey by using words or words, it conveys when we do something to others.

Animals do feel and love too! If animals are soulless, then why dogs are so loyal to their owners, they have friends, even cats are loyal too. If animals are soulless and animals deserve to be killed and bullied, then why vicious animals like snake will protect the puppies? To someone who saves others lives, we do respect them don’t we?

  22. MartinC on Jul 22, 2013 at 7:03 am

The King Cobra correctly or not, has a reputation of being dangerous and vicious and yet here we see a very different picture. I wonder what the cobra was doing there and its not normal for a well to be a cobra’s nest nor can we assume that the cobra fell into the well. The snake certainly was not there to harm the little puppies or it would have done so given 48 hours of opportunity. It would appear that the snake was there to look after the pups. More and more we hear stories of animals showing care and compassion, even the most untamed animals and what is interesting here is that a snake can possess the consciousness that the puppies needed help. Where did that come from?

  23. Adrian Cho on Jul 22, 2013 at 1:07 am

This was unbelievable and so heartwarming, that this snake protect this two puppies 🙂 This show it that animals can do it, why not human can do it?

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this post.

  24. henry ooi on Jul 21, 2013 at 1:45 am

Here we have a wild snake acting as a sentinel to two animals different from its kind while some people in certain parts of the world are hurting, maiming and killing such animals.Worse still dogs are being eaten as food.rtn

  25. Edward ooi on Jul 20, 2013 at 9:47 pm

Dear Rinpoche, I have heard that dog protecting owner from a crocodile attack but I have never ever heard of a king cobra protecting 2 puppies from drowning for 48 hours……. Okay maybe once XD. I’m gonna share this post on Facebook right now!

  26. Lucas Roth on Jul 20, 2013 at 3:01 pm

this is so heartwarming and such a nice story. this shows that animals have a heart too no matter what species. and the cobra could have killed them but chose to look after them… wow. i am so happy that they all ended up oaky in the end

  27. sarahyap on Jul 20, 2013 at 2:06 am

I’m truly ashamed of the human race… for a being that has the potential for enlightenment, I guess where there is higher potential for something good to be achieved, on the other side of the coin the larger the damage they can produce as well…

Why do I say this? Animals may kill for food, but there are many people that kill for fun… I think that is the worst. Without a good consciousness, people can be worst than animals.

A very nice sharing on how different species of animals do not harm young-lings of another.

  28. Cynthia Lee on Jul 20, 2013 at 12:00 am

Any creatures that can move, protect and even attack do have some senses to emotions such as fear and love. What more to feel pain when they are being injured and abused. Animals attack because they feel fear and it’s their natural instinct to survival. Humans mainly abuse animals for their pleasure and fun. Hope this story are able to open minds.

  29. beatrix ooi on Jul 19, 2013 at 11:59 pm

I was shocked and touched when I first read about it from the newspaper few weeks ago. I was shocked because cobra has always been known as a very venomous and dangerous animal, but in the article above, it doesn’t seem like what I have always heard.
On the other hand, I was touched because the cobra was ‘protecting’ the puppies as if it’s his/her own children. The puppies look very nervous and freaked out, poor babies…
I am very happy that the puppies made their way out safely and so do the cobra! I give thanks to the villagers, it shows that they care!
    Thank You for sharing Rinpoche.

  30. Edern Tan on Jul 19, 2013 at 11:36 pm

It is so hard to believe that the king cobra in fact not eat the puppies but protect them. The cobra is a confirm it is hungry and it eill eat the puppies as it is trap in the well.
Even animals have a heart to protect the puppies or other animals too why we humans can’t have a heart to care about animals.

  31. Sean Wang on Jul 19, 2013 at 10:35 pm

Animals have the natural instinct to help each other. Why don’t humans have the same? It is truly unbelievable that a dangerous creature can protect helpless beings but it happens! Why are humans not doing the same to weaker people or animals? Shame shame. An animal can be smarter than humans.

  32. Girlie OOI on Jul 19, 2013 at 10:08 pm

In the animal kingdom, they do not attack others unless provoked or in defence. They can also sense if they are in danger fwhen confronted by others.

In this case, the puppies did not pose a dander to the reptile. They learned to co exist.

  33. nicholas on Jul 19, 2013 at 9:56 pm

Quite amazing and it does teach me a lesson that if such deadly and dangerous animal can turn around and be protective to other species of animal instead of having them as a meal it’s so touching.

If animal can do it we as human should be able to do better

Unbelievable but true! Even the deadly and dangerous cobra can show compassion and protect the helpless puppies from danger!

    Thank you for sharing, Rinpoche.

  36. Darren Kechara Paradise on Jul 19, 2013 at 7:15 pm

First time i heard of wild reptile and it’s a COBRA that did no harm on other being. Thank you for the sharing, it shows that even the most deadly creature on earth has the caring side.

  37. David Lai on Jul 19, 2013 at 7:14 pm

This is just amazing. The puppies could have been the cobra’s next meal but the cobra in its limited capacity to think beyond its instinct-based mind has chosen to be compassionate. This is perhaps a predilection of a distant human past life. That’s why this is amazing and I believe that people should be even better than that. But unfortunately, that is not the case for a great many people because we are either just to engross in our self-pleasures or that we rather just ignore the plight of others, particularly those of the animal world.

  38. Sofi on Jul 19, 2013 at 5:55 pm

Amazing isn’t it?! Cobra not only harm the puppies but also understand to protect them from danger of drowning. How can we assume that all animals are “lowly” when some are able to display such signs of compassion and care for others, irregardless their species. In saving the puppies, the cobra too got saved too, as in the theory of karma (what you give is what you will receive, now or later). Thanks Rinpoche for always opening ourselves more through all your articles.

  39. HelenaC on Jul 19, 2013 at 5:36 pm

Awwwww This is so super sweet and cute!! And it is amazing too that the Cobra shows compassionate!!! Awesome! Thanks for sharing Rinpoche 🙂

  40. Lim Han Nee on Jul 19, 2013 at 5:35 pm

Amazing, the most dangerous reptile of all, a cobra, can live in peaceful co-existence with two little puppies for forty-eight hours! Not only that, it can also ‘keep an eye’ on them and ‘protect’ them. Humans(the most advanced of beings on Planet Earth), on the other hand, not only cannot live in peace and side-by-side with other beings, but must resort to harming and killing them for their own self-serving ends.

    When will humans ever learn?

Nonetheless, I’m glad that in this incident, the people involved repaid the kindness of the cobra by releasing it, into the wild, unharmed.

  41. Wah Ying on Jul 19, 2013 at 5:08 pm

The more I read what Rinpoche shares the more I open my mind, or I have to open my mind. What I used to think some phenomena should be the more challenges my mind is having. What we think human beings as higher level being should be, always contradict with what we act and, what we witness. In the other hand, what we think animals would be and could be, always give us some out of expectation experience and even inspiration. Thank you, Rinpoche.

  44. AdelineTan on Jul 19, 2013 at 4:33 pm

Yes it is truly unbelievable, even the most dangerous and deadly cobra can protect the young animals of a different kind. This shows that all animals and creatures no matter how dangerous they are have buddhas nature in them too. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this heartwarming story.

Hey everyone, I hope you’re all doing great! I wanted to share a truly incredible journey that I’ve been on recently. You see, few months ago, my marriage hit a really rough patch. It was a time filled with confusion, heartbreak, and a lot of searching for answers. I looked into so many different places for help, hoping to find someone who could guide me through this difficult time. I reached out to friends, family, and even sought advice from professionals, but unfortunately, nothing seemed to be working. It felt like I was hitting dead ends at every turn. But then, one day, while I was surfing the internet, feeling a bit lost and unsure of what to do next, I stumbled upon something truly remarkable. It was the good work of a spell caster called Priest AZ. His effective love spell stories and positive impact he had made in the lives of others with his powerful love spell caught my attention. Intrigued and hopeful, I decided to reach out to Priest AZ for help. And let me tell you, that decision changed everything. From the very first conversation, I could sense his genuine care and understanding. He listened to me without judgment and provided a safe space for me to express my feelings and concerns. Priest AZ’s Love-Spell were like a beacon of light during my darkest days. He helped me navigate the complexities of my situation. He helped me solved the underlying issues in my marriage with his effective and powerful love spell. In just a short time the results were surprising, my husband called me in less than 24hrs after the love-spell and he was apologizing for me to accept him back and definitely I accepted him back. . It wasn’t an easy journey, I’ll admit. There were moments of doubt and uncertainty along the way. But with the unwavering help of Priest AZ, Through the love spell, my husband and I were able to reignite the love that brought us together, and ultimately restore our marriage. I can’t express enough how grateful I am for the intervention of Priest AZ in my life. He truly made a difference, not just in my marriage, but in my overall well-being. His kindness, compassion, and dedication to helping others are truly inspiring. If any of you out there is going through a similar situation, If you need to get your husband back to you, you need to fix a broken marriage, you need to stop a divorce or you want to restore a broken marriage/relationship. I want to encourage you to seek help from priest AZ, Contact him at Mightylovespell@gmail.com. WhatsApp: +43 680 5400 8232

My name is Max Kai, and I’m from the USA. I was deeply in love with a woman, and even after I found out she was cheating on me, I still wanted to make things work. Unfortunately, she chose to stay with the person she cheated with, and that broke me. About six weeks later, I came across a post on a relationship forum about a spell caster named Dr. Masako who helps people reconnect with lost love through love spells. With nothing left to lose, I decided to reach out to him via WhatsApp and shared my story. To my surprise, within just 24 hours, Dr. Masako helped bring my ex back into my life and now, we’re engaged and planning our wedding. I honestly didn’t expect this to work, but it did. If you’re going through something similar and need help getting your ex back, I highly recommend contacting Dr. Masako. You can reach him on WhatsApp at +2349047144277, email him at doctormasako@gmail.com, or visit his website: doctormasako2.wixsite.com/drmasakospelltemple

Well thought out article where Rinpoche gave a precious teaching. Encourage us to go vegetarian showing compassion to all sentient beings by not causing suffering or death. To make a conscious effort to avoid contributing to the suffering and death of animals is the best choice. Going vegetarian in Buddhism is a choice motivated by compassion. I do agree with Rinpoche that we should not be too attached to meat. Very true there is nothing to lose by going vegetarian. What enlightened and attained beings do we can’t , we follow the conventional way .
Thank you Rinpoche for all these precious teaching

Miyolangsangma is the Tibetan Buddhist goddess who lives at the top of Chomolungma . She is the goddess of inexhaustible giving and of Everest and the Khumbu area in general. She rides a golden tigress and hands out the jewels of wishes to those deserving.
Mount Everest, at 8,848.86 meters , is the highest mountain on Earth and presents one of the ultimate challenges for climbers. Climbers scaling Mount Everst involves navigating extreme altitude, severe weather conditions will stop by at Tengboche Monastery . They will seek blessing from Lama Geshe a Buddhist monk, known for blessing climbers by reciting a mantra to Miyolangsangma. Climbers will be given a talisman containing Miyolangsangma’s mantra, to be worn around the neck for protection while scaling Mount Everest. That’s awesome.
    Thank you Rinpoche for sharing.

The Faroe Islands a volcanic are a self-governing archipelago, located between Iceland and Norway and part of the Kingdom of Denmark. As part of a tradition dolphins were slaughtered mercilessly. The killing of dolphins in Denmark refers to the traditional Grindadráp hunts which has been going on for hundred years. Each year, locals in the North Atlantic’s Faeroe Islands drive herds of sea mammals into shallow waters, where they are stabbed to death. In keeping with the annual, barbaric tradition of killing dolphins, thousands of these mammals were killed. Whales and several dolphin species are herded by boats into shallow bays or onto beaches. According to the animal rights activist, back then, this hunt was necessary for the survival of the villages. Looking at those pictures shows dolphins thrashing around in waters turned red with blood as hundreds of people watch on from the beach.
The practice of dolphin hunting in the Faroe Islands has come under scrutiny recently. Its really cruel , hopefully more people are aware of this cruel practice and abandoned . Moreover soon or later dolphins will be extinct.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

DATUK YIP KUM FOOK AND SIMON LOW KOK MENG are scammers because they defrauded IC people in Malaysia, and many people have been victims before. They are scammed everywhere, and they are also gangsters in the Kepong area. Now, many people have found and checked their families, and people are spreading it on the internet.

One of them is Ng Hong Seong, the victim. He suffered because he gave his National Identity Card to Datuk Yip Kum Fook to find a job. Many police officers and some gangsters contacted him about finances to borrow money from various banks. Datuk Yip Kum Fook used the police to harass people.

Now, many people know about this group (Yip Kum Fook & Simon Low) because they were expelled by Buddhist monks from the Buddhist Temple in Taman Desa Jaya, Kepong, and burned down the Hindu Temple in Taman Daya, Kepong.

We hope everyone can share this message fully to stop this evil in this world. They need to know that people are very sad and scared.

    From Ng, Kepong

Wow….amazing Bao’en Temple an ancient temple in the remote hill located in Pingwu County, in north-western Sichuan Province, China . It’s a well-preserved fifteenth-century Buddhist temple which has such a unique shockproof against earthquake. Not only one earthquake but three with researcher credit to the building’s design and using Phoebe nanmu wood used for its construction. All the architecture reflects the architecture of imperial Palace. A well-preserved 15th-century Buddhist temple considered a national treasure, an architectural gem and a preserved cultural site. Dedicated to the Emperor Yingzong in the Ming Dynasty featuring an exquisite architectural elements and treasures of 1,004-armed Avalokiteshvara statue and a revolving prayer wheel. That’s awesome, looking at those pictures in the post.

Beautiful paintings explaining about the life of Lama Tsongkapa. That’s great sharing more readers will get to know and understand Lama Tsongkapa the great Tibetan Buddhist monk, philosopher and tantric yogi. Reading his brief biography and his great life story in 15 beautiful and meaningful paintings. Fortunate to practice the Guru Yoga of Lama Tsongkhapa as it is a short, profound and concise practice which has vast, innumerable benefits. This very powerful, yet accessible practice as it does not require initiation or empowerment. Looking at those beautiful thangka as in this blog is a blessing.

Inspiring teachings from Pabongka Rinpoche. Taking refuge in Tibetan Buddhism is the foundation of all Buddhist practice, marking the entrance to the path by committing to the Three Jewels . It is a profound and active process of seeking protection from suffering by consciously adopting a Buddhist direction in life. The act of going for refuge marks the point where we decides to take the Dharma as the primary guide to the conduct in one’s life. Taking refuge is a form of aspiration, leading us a life with the Triple Gem at its core.
Thank you Rinpoche for this profound teachings.

From ancient times to the colonial era courtesans are deeply rooted in the historical fabric of India. Their culture refers to the historical role of high-class, educated female entertainers in societies. These women held significant cultural and social influence, acting as patrons of the arts. They are known for exceptional skills in classical music, dance and poetry. It was during the British colonial rule and the rise of modern social values , these cultures seems to decline. Many women nowadays began to receive equal recognition, appreciation, and stature been noticed. And yet there is still in some place women were seconded in some societies. When it comes to mind training and the development of compassion and wisdom, gender does not matter. In Buddhism, there’s no discrimination toward women, both men and women are equal. It has proven that many women have gained full enlightenment in a female body.
Thank you Rinpoche for this inspiring sharing.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
