Why can’t we be friends?
Before the unethical ban against the spiritual practice of Dorje Shugden, all the teachers are friendly, they are in contact and support each other. There was much harmony and everyone was focused on bringing the Buddha dharma to many. They often met up with each other, or in communication and even attended each other’s events. The harmony was palpable, beneficial and everyone was united. You an see here how Lama Zopa Rinpoche comes to one of Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche’s events in Nepal. How warmly they greet each other and there is so much spirituality radiating from this blessed picture. Now because of this unethical ban against Shugden, these lamas are not allowed to meet although they have the same root guru, same practices, same lineage and same monasteries. They cannot meet only because one practices Dorje Shugden and one claims not to. That is the only reason. Because of the unethical ban against Dorje Shugden the whole Tibetan Buddhist world is divided until now. Those who wish to practice Dorje Shugden are not allowed to participate or be friends with those who do not practice Dorje Shugden. What is incredible is why are Tibetan Buddhists divided by religion? How can one be segregated due to one’s religious choice? Buddhists must embrace all, show compassion to all sentient beings. May the ban against Dorje Shugden practitioners end soon so that there will be unity, harmony and friendship again based on compassion, acceptance and universal freedom of religious choice without discrimination or recriminations of any kind. May all be harmonious soon.

This is perhaps the most heartbreaking thing. Fear is what is causing the whole disturbing affair, and all I have observed is a lot of pain with the power to harm one’s own practice.
It’s hard to stay true to one’s convictions in the face of fear. What I find so sad is that people forget their basic vows to go out and attack others without understanding that they can disagree quietly and just go away. There is no need for deliberate violence. That is not what compassion is.
I miss Rinpoche. He was the brightest jewel and I pray his coming incarnation will have all his dreams and wishes manifesting. I have been missing him so much for the past two years, and I really dedicate merits for his future health and happiness.
Everyone of us has a right to choose and practice any religion. The most important asset in an interfaith relationship is respect and harmony. Different religions should exercise moderation and tolerance towards each other and their beliefs. Nor matter what all they should not instigate religious enmity or hatred instead be friends and respect each other. Cultural diversity makes us accept one another . It has become very important in today’s world . Whatever one choose is one choice. Religion and politics should be kept separate. The Dorje Shugden ‘s controversy which has been going on for years has in fact cause disharmony and sufferings to many. Before the ban , all practitioners were friendly , could communicate with each other even though they are of different beliefs and praying differently recording to their practice and protectors. The ban of Dorje Shugden is unnecessary and illogical as the bigger purpose of Dorje Shugden, is preservation of the Dharma, and nothing else. Those who practice Dorje Shugden are not allowed to be friends with those who do not practice Dorje Shugden. They should be more opened be friends with anyone nor matter what they pray. The unethical ban against the spiritual practice of Dorje Shugden is causing unnecessary issue among the practitioners. Enough is enough hopefully it will end soon. Peace and harmony could only be maintain with mutual respect .
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.
Before the Dorje Shugden ban, everyone was friends. Whether you are a Dorje Shugden follower or not, nobody really cares, it is not important. There was no conflict, there was no tension, people live in harmony.
After the Dorje Shugden ban was imposed, Tibetans are divided into 2 different groups. Those choosing not to practice Dorje Shugden refuse to talk to Dorje Shugden followers. Friends and families are split just because of their beliefs.
The separation is caused by the Tibetan leadership (CTA) who imposed the ban. They encourage people to segregate Dorje Shugden followers, they even encourage the monasteries to expel monks who continue to practice Dorje Shugden. As the leadership of the Tibetans, the CTA fails to maintain the harmony in the community and causes a lot of sufferings to the people.

Dear friends,
Tibet has produced many powerful meditations, rituals and guidelines to help us gain spiritual protection, gain wisdom and higher states of consciousness. In general Tibet has produced many powerful methods for the growth of our spiritual evolution. Dorje Shugden is an angel, a saint, a powerful spiritual protector-warrior who originated 350 years ago when a highly awakened Tibetan Lama fulfilled his vows to become a special being to grant protection, wisdom, material needs, safety when travelling (normal and astral travel) and spiritual awakening. Both the Great 5th Dalai Lama and the current His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama composed short yet effective prayers to invoke upon the power and blessings of this special saint and protector. One can recite either one of the prayers that you feel suits you, anytime or even daily. When you feel a special need for help, you can recite either prayer anytime. When you are feeling down, afraid or just need a blessing, you can recite them. After reciting either invocation, it is good to chant the mantra of Dorje Shugden: Om Benza Wiki Bitana Soha.
You do not have to be a Buddhist or practitioner of any religion to invoke upon the blessings and protection of this special enlightened and awakened angel Dorje Shugden. He helps all without discrimination or bias as he is filled with compassion and love. Divinity has no boundaries, they help all who call upon them.
Enclosed are the prayers in English, Chinese and Tibetan.
May you be safe, protected and blessed.

Divination (‘mo’) Text by Dorje Shugden
This is an important divination (‘mo’) text composed by Dorje Shugden himself. Dorje Shugden took trance of the Choyang Dulzin oracle lama, the senior oracle of Gaden Shartse Monastery, and instantly on the spot composed this text within two hours.
The divination text contains information on how to use dice to do divination for the future and is known to be highly accurate. When practitioners use this text, they will be in direct contact with Dorje Shugden to get answers to questions about the future. It is for those who have good samaya with Dorje Shugden and are free of the eight worldly dharmas to be of benefit to others in divining the future.

For the first time available, Dorje Shugden and his entourage of 32 asssistants of his mandala.
Dorje Shugden is a powerful protector deity who is also an emanation of Manjushri, a wisdom bestowing Buddha. Therefore, he has great ability to help us to progress further on the spiritual path. He does this by helping us to overcome obstacles and problems for the modern individual.
Due to his enlightened nature, Dorje Shugden is able to manifest 32 deities and within the same abode resides Setrap and Kache Marpo:-
1. 5 Dorje Shugden families or emanations. They consists of the following:-
– Dulzin Dorje Shugden, which performs activities to eliminate inner and outer obstacles.
– Shize, which performs activities to pacify all illnesses and disease.
– Gyenze, which performs activities to increase all desirable material and spiritual wealth.
– Wangze, which performs activities to control difficult people and circumstances.
– Trakze, which performs activities to wrathfully eliminate all insurmountable obstacles and life-threatening situations.
2. 9 Mothers. They represent protection of the five senses and developing control of the four elements. These are all attributes that signify their ability to assist tantric practitioners with their higher meditations.
3. 8 Guiding Monks. They represent the Eight Great Bodhisattvas (Avalokitesvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Samantabhadra, Maitreya, Kshitigarbha, Akashagarbha, Sarva-nivarana-viskambini) and they bring about the growth of the Dharma, through the Sangha, Dharma practitioners and Dharma establishments.
4. 10 Youthful & Wrathful Attendants. They represent the ten wrathful attendants to avert inner and outer obstacles. They are beings who are from Mongolia, China, Kashmir, India, Bengali, etc.
5. Setrap. He is a senior Dharma Protector from India and an emanation of Amitabha Buddha. He had enthroned Dorje Shugden as an authentic Dharma Protector. Therefore, he also resides within the same mandala of Dorje Shugden.
6. Kache Marpo. He is not an emanation of Dorje Shugden but he is still an enlightened Dharma Protector in his own right. He was originally known as Tsiu Marpo of Samye Monastery. However, he has placed himself under the service of Dorje Shugden as his chief minister, performing many activities in order to protect and benefit practitioners. Therefore, he stands guard at the main entrance of Dorje Shugden’s mandala. He often takes trance of qualified mediums to speak.
7. Namkar Barzin. He is the reincarnation of an old Mongolian monk and when he passed away in Phari area of Tibet, his spirit was placed as a powerful assistant of Dorje Shugden. He guards and protects buildings and great institutions especially those that benefit others. He rides on a mythical Gyaling animal that resembles a goat but with scales.
These sacred images are available on *Vajrasecrets. They are made of high quality alloy and are one of a kind. They are based on the lineage of His Holiness Panchen Rinpoche’s monastery, Tashilhunpo in Shigatse, Tibet. In fact, the iconography of these statues are based on detailed photographs taken by H. E. Tsem Rinpoche during a trip to Tashilhunpo’s protector chapel. These are based exactly as the 10th Panchen Lama’s personal collection.

His Holiness the 10th Panchen Lama
Tibetans commonly refer to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama as the “sun and moon” of Tibetan Buddhism. They are the center of Tibetan Buddhist civilization, which draws to its sphere of influence millions of non-Tibetan practitioners. The Panchen Lama’s incarnation line began with the 16th abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen (1570 – 1662). He was bestowed the title of Panchen Lama by His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama after being declared as an emanation of Amitabha.
After being given the title, his three previous incarnations were posthumously also bestowed the title, making Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen the 4th Panchen Lama. He became a teacher to many Tibetans, Bhutanese and Mongolian religious figures, including His Holiness the 4th and 5th Dalai Lamas, and the 1st Jetsun Dampa of Mongolia. A prolific author, Chokyi Gyeltsen is credited with over a hundred compositions, including a number of commentaries and ritual texts that remain central in the Gelukpa tradition today. Along with his role as a teacher of the Dharma, the Panchen Lamas are usually responsible for the recognition of the rebirths of the Dalai Lamas, and vice versa.
The 10th Panchen Lama, Lobsang Trinley Lhundrub Chokyi Gyeltsen (19 February 1938 – 28 January 1989) continued both the spiritual and political roles of his predecessors. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, his contemporary, was even heard to say and echo the Panchen Lama’s own words that the Dalai Lama would safeguard Tibet from the outside while the Panchen Lama would safeguard Tibet from the inside, as he never left Tibet after the political troubles of 1959. He was truly loved by the Tibetans, all the way until his passing. When he taught, thousands of people would attend, not only from his own Gelug lineage, but masters and practitioners from all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.
At his sprawling monastery of Tashi Lhunpo, he has a special chapel specifically dedicated to Dorje Shugden, where prayers and rituals are performed on a daily basis. In his great omniscience the Panchen Lama held Dorje Shugden as the principal Dharma protector of the monastery. He also personally propitiated Dorje Shugden among other Dharma protectors, and even wrote extensive prayers and rituals to Dorje Shugden. These rituals and prayers are contained within his ‘sung bum’ or collected works, which are provided here. As such a great lama, with an erudite and clear understanding of the Buddhist scriptures, a teacher to millions in both Tibet and China, from an established incarnation line and an emanation of the Buddha Amitabha, he could not be mistaken about his practice of Dorje Shugden.
His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama is known for his composition of commentaries and practice texts that are still in use by contemporary Buddhist practitioners both in Tibet and across the world. One of these is a powerful ritual composition propitiating the compassionate Dorje Shugden.
Upon the request by Acharya Lobsang Jangchub to compose a shorter version of the prayer (sadhana) for the exhortation of activities of Dorje Shugden, Panchen Lama immediately composed an abbreviate form of Dorje Shugden’s Kangsol. This text is entitled “Manjunatha’s (Tsongkapa) Lineage protector Dorje Shugden and five forms wrathful propitiations and confessional prayers and fulfilment of activities rites” or “Melodious sound of Accomplishment of the Four Activities” for short. Once the prayers were completed, he had signs and strong feelings that Dorje Shugden has been working hard to protect the Buddhadharma in general and the lineage of Lama Tsongkhapa specifically.
Mirroring the abilities of one of his earlier incarnations, Khedrub Je, a disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa and master of both sutra and tantra, the Panchen Lama used his compositional skill and poetic prowess to create a masterful sadhana. Worthy of note is a praise in which the first letter of each verse is a Tibetan vowel. Such compositions are rarely seen, and have historically only been used when propitiating senior Dharma protectors such as Palden Lhamo and Kalarupa.
The Panchen Lama also stated that while composing the Dorje Shugden sadhana (prayers) he was filled with a sense of happiness and bliss. He ends the composition with not only his official title but his ordination name, Tenzin Trinley Jigme Choje Wangchuk, endorsing the validity of his work. He composed the sadhana in his own Tashi Lhunpo monastery while in the Hall of Clear Light and Bliss.

“If the Dalai Lama, if His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by Dorje Shugden, then we might as well not practice Buddhism anymore. If His Holiness the Dalai Lama can have his life shortened by a so-called evil spirit, any evil spirit, then can he be Avalokiteshvara? So on one hand you say, we say, I say, everybody says, he is Avalokiteshvara; on the other hand you’re saying that he can be harmed by an evil spirit… Which one is it? Can he be harmed by an evil spirit or is he Avalokiteshvara? Do you think Avalokiteshvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Tara all take refuge in something else to protect themselves from Dorje Shugden? How illogical is that? How illogical of people to say His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by an evil spirit, any evil spirit or “Dorje Shugden” evil spirit. How is that possible?” – Tsem Tulku Rinpoche

A true democracy allows everyone the freedom to exercise their human rights, including the freedom to practise any religion they want. In democratic countries, the government does not interfere with this right. Neither are democratic governments prejudiced against their citizens’ choice of religious belief. They do not force people to stop their religious practice or pass legislation criminalising people because of their religion.
The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), the Tibetan leadership who are based in Dharamsala are the exception. They are the only so-called ‘democratic’ leadership that puts a stranglehold on its people, persecuting them for their religious beliefs. They deny the rights of Dorje Shugden practitioners for simply practicing their religion as they have done for the past 400 years. Dorje Shugden practitioners are ostracised from their own community, denied medical care, education or even employment in government offices. The CTA definitely does not live up to the right to be called a democratic administration, especially when in it inflicts suppression of people’s freedom and disrespects basic human rights.

Will the CTA (Tibetan govt in exile) and their supporters in East and West say voodoo is evil and cannot be practiced too? Will they advise against Voodoo and say its a demon’s practice and people who practice are bad too? Truth be told, no one has the right to say anything about anyone’s religion. Listen to what this man says in the short snagged clip because he speaks well and with the truth.

This excerpt of the Swiss Television documentary presented in 1988 is a painful reminder of the hypocrisy and the sad reality of the oppression, discrimination, and ostracisation of Dorje Shugden practitioners. For 20 years, Dorje Shugden practitioners have endured this and no one supported their fight as the Tibetan leadership in exile continues to undermine their effort by denying the existence of this ban, and silencing their voice by peer pressure, flooding the media and fooling the general public with accusations that Shugden practitioners are political tools supported by the Chinese government to create discord within the Tibetan community. Please listen to their plea and please share this video far and wide to end this injustice.

Before the ban on Dorje Shugden practice, Tibetan is free to choose and practice in any Buddhism monastery. Many Lamas able to get together to discuss about the practice and embrace of Dorje Shugden practice to benefit more people. After, the unreasonable banned on Dorje Shugden practice. Many Lamas who practices Dorje Shugden has been forced to abandon the practice. Not only the Lama, as long as you are a Dorje Shugden practitioner the ban is everywhere in Tibet.
??? I really hope this ban will be completely lifted
It is sure not understandable why we cannot speak to someone only because of the spiritual choice we make. More so for Buddhist practitioners and high lamas, there should be no discrimination towards anyone – the more so another Buddhist practitioner.
I wish that this ban against Dorje Shugden would be removed as soon as possible as the division does no good to anyone. We learn to not create schism, not talk bad about others, so why should we avoid people who practice Dorje Shugden? It makes no sense at all for me.
Thank you Rinpoche for this beautiful and warm picture. I hope that soon everyone is united again and all discrimination stops.
As said, “Now because of this unethical ban against Shugden, these Lamas are not allowed to meet although they have the same root Guru, same practices, same lineage and same monasteries.” It was also further said, “The harmony was palpable, beneficial and everyone was united. You can see how Lama Zopa Rinpoche comes to one of Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche’s events in Nepal. How warmly they greet each other and there is so much spirituality radiating from this Blessed picture”. Just because of the unethical Ban against Dorje Shugden, the whole Tibetan Buddhist World is divided until now! The practice of Dorje Shugden has been in the practice for 400 years. It is a well-known fact Dorje Shugden is none other than Lord Manjushri. Therefore, all these praying to rely on Dorje Shugden are said to be also relying on Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom. As many great learned and highly attained masters have attested to whatever is practised on Dorje Shugden is true, proper and geniune, as Dorje Shugden is none other than Manjushri, who is so beneficial to all beings. Many Dharma Protectors are also said to be emanations of enlightened beings, whose holy existence of being a Dharma Protector is to assist Dharma practitioners to create conducive conditions for the true benefits of their Dharma practice! Even the avowedly Atheist communist party of China has today thrown its weight behind the Worship of Dorje Shugden. Uncovered notes from the various consultations with the Panglung oracle in the late 1950’s had revealed “how Dorje Shugden saved the Blessed life of His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama.” Thanks to this specific advice of Dorje Shugden, His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, viewed as the single most important symbol of Buddhism today, and whose sensational escape from Tibet have become Legendary, is much alive, still carrying on his blessed shoulders the hopes of all Tibetan Buddhist practitioners and peoples with deep good faith. Therefore, “Why can’t we be friends?”, as the title of the Article says between “His Holiness, the Dalai Lama and Dorje Shugden.” May all Dharma Protectors continue to protect and help all sentient beings in the success of their spiritual practice, and may the Ban against Dorje Shugden be lifted soonest possible, so that there’ll be unity, harmony, universal friendships and freedom for all religious choice of worship for all!
Friends makes the world beautiful there is a saying but why can’t we be friends? Just because of this unethical ban against Dorje Shugden the Tibetan people were no longer be friends, those who were once Dharma brothers and sisters began to unfriend, turn aggression and violence at each other. It has cause violence, bloodshed , segregation and discrimination among themselves . The Tibetan people are not allowed to be friends with those who practice Dorje Shugden. Sadly to note that a once harmonious monastic community was divided and the whole Tibetan Buddhist world is divided.
May the ban be lifted soon and peace be restored.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing.
Religious is once choice.
The ultimate goal for everyone’s the same which is towards enlightenment and spreading dharma.
Buddha’s teaching is the same for everyone.
There shouldn’t be segregation
May the ban be lifted asap and may all sufferings end.
May there be peace.
It is really sad that in a religion that is supposed to be advocating compassion and love, how can we tell people not to be friends and disassociate themselves with another just because they choose to practice a different faith. That is not just ridiculous, that is totally opposite of dharma.
When I hear this it makes me not only feel disgusted, it makes me feel that something is terribly wrong with Buddhism if I am a new person, and I would actually not want to learn more about this religion because true spirituality should not be bias and judgemental. So when I see this beautiful, warm, kind, loving picture of two Lamas who are like Boddhisattvas so close and friendly but just because of the ban and persecution imposed on Dorje Shugden practitioners, these great masters can no longer meet.
I truly hope that this New Year 2018, His Holiness the Dalai Lama would truly implement the teaching of religious tolerance across the board and advice his own people to stop attacking and condemning Dorje Shugden people. With just one word from His Holiness the Dalai Lama would change everything.
Buddha teachings are to give love, compassion, patience, tolerance, humility and forgiveness. H.H the 14th Dalai Lama is preaching peace and harmony world wide and on the other hand The Tibetan Leadership is dividing their people by imposing this unethical Dorje Shugden ban that caused so much hatred and sufferings. This is illogical and contradicting. How can a leader promoting harmony and peace and in the same time segregating people? Everyone deserves kindness and acceptance. May the ban be lifted and harmony be restored soon.
We have our freedom to choose the religion of our choice. Why do not allow us to be friends? If because of different religion we can’t be friend, then Buddhist and Christian and Muslim n other religion practitioners cannot be friends too, the world will be at war.
This is an illogical ban which need to be end fast to end the suffering of Dorje Shugden practitioners and the separation of Tibetan. May the ban be lifted ASAP.
It’s pure bliss looking at this picture – the meeting of High Lamas.
The people all around the world advocating peace and no discrimination, and yet up till today there’s still discrimination against Shugden practitioners, put up by the Tibet Administrative Group in the website. How sad and disgusting!
Buddhism is known to be a religion of acceptance of difference with great compassion.
It is saddening to note that in this day and age where there are so much freedom in life’s activities, the Tibetan Buddhists are divided just because of some illogical ban on the worship of Dorje Shugden of which the Gelug tradition of Vajrayana Buddhism had been practising for 400 years.
All Buddhists must be united to propitiate the faultless Dharma and this divide is causing great sufferings to practising Buddhists and a loss of opportunity to sentient beings whom the Dharma can benefit greatly.
Let the Ban be lifted for unity to benefit many with the Dharma.
The unethical Dorje Shugden practice ban created some 20 years ago is not bringing any benefit whatsoever to any community. In fact, it has created a lot of permanent schism, severance of family ties, schism amongst the monastics community, severance of basic medical care and attention to deserving patients, access to basic necessities (food and water) being denied, and being disallowed entry to places to Dorje Shugden practitioners.
All these types of selfish and self centered actions does not lead one closer to bodhicitta. It creates even more karma to cause one being tossed towards the three lower realms.
This ban has to end and it is now time for all Buddhists to be reconciled, reunited, and everyone to recuperate. This is necessary to create the causes for Dharma to flourish and to share to everyone what was taught by Lord Buddha Shakyamuni 2,600 years ago is the truth and that everyone is equal, and have the right to practice whatever spiritual path one chooses.

Great message every Tibetan especially must read!
Trode Khangsar Chapel in Lhasa, Tibet
Over 400 years ago a great and learned lama Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was famed in Mongolia, Tibet, Nepal and China for being very saintly and compassionate. He resided in his residence (Zimkhang Gongma Ladrang) in Drepung Monastery. His root guru was H.H. the Omniscient 4th Panchen Lama and his close dharma brother was the 5th Dalai Lama.
The 5th Dalai Lama and Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen had a very close and dharmic relationship and often went to receive teachings together from the 4th Panchen Lama. They were close in age. They both became very learned and well known. During this time, the Dalai Lama was enthroned as a Dharma King of Tibet. But more people went to see Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen for teachings, initiations and divinations. This made the attendants of the 5th Dalai Lama feel threatened that Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s fame might usurp the power of the 5th Dalai Lama. So they had a khata forced down his throat. At that moment, Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen dissolved his psychic winds and generated the wish to be a great guardian of Buddha and Tsongkapa’s teachings. As his consciousness dissolved, he entered ‘bardo’ as a dharma protector of the highest order (jikten depey sungma). Many signs were seen throughout Lhasa at this time and the earth was said to have shaken in Lhasa. This event was already predicted to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s previous incarnation when he was one of the 8 main disciples of Lord Tsongkapa the Supreme Master and he served Tsongkapa directly by building Gaden Monastery.
When the 5th Dalai Lama heard what his scheming and power-hungry attendants had done, he was very distressed. He was very sorry Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was murdered and dishonored as he was a great dharma master. The 5th Dalai Lama composed an apology to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen. In Lhasa, tens of thousands gathered for the cremation of Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s holy body. During the cremation, the 5th Dalai Lama’s apology was read out at which flames spontaneously arose from the body of Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen commencing the cremation. From the body, during cremation, a powerful whirlwind of smoke tunneled into the sky for all to see as this was an indication Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s consciousness has arisen as the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. The Dharma Protector Setrap immediately recognized this new protector Dorje Shugden and ‘enthroned’ him as a powerful Dharma Protector in the realm of the Buddhas. From this, Setrap and Dorje Shugden are closely connected and very close working hand in hand always. After the cremation, the great 5th Dalai Lama built a Dorje Shugden chapel on the spot the cremation took place and named it Trode Khangsar. The 5th Dalai Lama commissioned the statue of Dorje Shugden in this chapel and had monks installed in the chapel to do continuous propitiations to Dorje Shugden. Trode Khangsar Chapel was a commemoration to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen who was wronged and also a celebration of his consciousness arising as the World Peace Peace Protector Dorje Shugden.
This Trode Khangsar Chapel still exists now in Lhasa where many make pilgrimages there. It is in good condition and was recently renovated. It is over 400 years old and a testimony to the respect the Great 5th Dalai Lama had to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen who arose as Dorje Shugden.
I have visited this holy chapel in Lhasa years back. I’ve never heard of it till I was in Lhasa and by chance, I was told about it which I was happy to visit. I could not find the place but strangely a bunch of pilgrims from Amdo told me they would show me how to get there in Lhasa.
This short video is a short clip of this holy Trode Khangsar Chapel in Lhasa today commemorating Dorje Shugden, built by the great 5th Dalai Lama. The great 5th Dalai Lama even composed a prayer to Dorje Shugden which is still available today and we can recite to invoke the blessings, protection, and assistance of World Peace Protector Dorje Shugden.

The 5th Dalai Lama’s Prayer to Dorje Shugden
HUM
Though unmoving from the sphere of primordial spontaneity,
With wrathful turbulent power, swifter than lightning,
Endowed with heroic courage to judge good and bad,
I invite you with faith, please come to this place!
Robes of a monk, crown adorned with rhinoceros leather hat,
Right hand holds ornate club, left holds a human heart,
Riding various mounts such as nagas and garudas,
Who subdues the mamos of the charnel grounds, praise to you!
Samaya substances, offerings and torma, outer, inner and secret,
Favourite visual offerings and various objects are arranged.
Although, previously, my wishes were a bit dense,
Do not stop your powerful apparitions, I reveal and confess!
Now respectfully praising with body, speech, and mind,
For us, the masters, disciples, benefactors and entourages,
Provide the good and avert the bad!
Bring increase like the waxing moon in spiritual and temporal realms!
Moreover, swiftly accomplishing all wishes,
According to our prayers, bestow the supreme effortlessly!
And like the jewel that bestows all wishes,
Always protect us with the Three Jewels!

Very sad to see the segregation of religion due to politic. The Dorje Shugden’s ban have so many illogical reasons behind it, yet the ban is activated because of politic. The harmony that Buddha have taught seems no longer there as long as this ban is still active.
Friends become enemies, Lamas teachings are separated, families divided, refugees within own refugees’ camp, broken samaya of Students- Guru relationship, all these can be avoid if there is no ban.
This ban, obviously have not meant for any benefits. Instead brought more harm.
May this ban be lifted quickly and peace be restored.
The Gelug tradition did not manifest in isolation, it manifested due to Je Tsongkhapa work and dedication to learn from various great masters from his time, and he took the time to combine teachings and methods from various traditions. All Gelug students and lamas know how the tradition came about, why would they be sectarian and spoil all Je Tsongkhapa’s good works? Practicing Dorje Shugden does not make one sectarian, in fact it makes us have a greater appreciation of the various buddhist traditions that formed the Gelug tradition.
I hope the ban on Dorje Shugden will be lifted very soon. It is not right to segregate and discriminate people for their religion choice. How can so many high Lamas who practise Dorje Shugden be wrong as it comes from same lineage, same root Guru and same practise?
I hope His Holiness Dalai Lama will solve this issue and end the suffering of the practioners.
There are lots of confusions even among great attained beings and the connection among them are lost in dust. So many tragedy among local people and so much harshness to the devoted Dorji Shugden practitioners. The ban has done so many harm. How great and beneficial and beautiful and helpful it would be for all innocent people like me. May His Holiness solve this issues. _()_ _()_ _()_
Thank you for having the strength, courage and genuine care to stand up and speak peacefully for what you believe in. No one should ever suffer, be segregated, assaulted, hurt, degraded, belittled, cursed, hated and biased for their religious beliefs. No one should advise anyone against any religious belief. If we want to find people who hate a certain religion, we can find plenty. If we want to find people who like a certain religion or form of spirituality, there will be plenty. In the end who is right and wrong? Which religion is right or wrong. All or some or none? Therefore it is more logical to respect all religions, all faiths and all forms of spirituality. In history many have exploited religion for selfish purposes and many have not. As long as I have not, that is all that matters. I cannot and will not speak for others of my faith and what their motive is, but I know my motive. No one and no leader and no religious leader should ever hurt, segregate or speak against another religion. Time for peace. Time for harmony. Time for respect. Time to look beyond mine/your religion and be kind. Be kind to everyone. Never put anyone down because of their religion.
Humbly,
Tsem Rinpoche.
P.S. I wish very much the people from His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s views/side and people from the side of Dorje Shugden practitioners meet very soon. May they meet in peace, with kindness in the hearts and good motivation to solve this issue once and for all. We have to solve this through peaceful dialogue. I never protested against His Holiness Dalai Lama nor spoke harshly against his views ever. I have always respected his and everyone’s views. We all have to live on this earth together. You will not accept my way of spirituality and I will not accept your’s and that is okay. But we must respect each other’s spiritual faith and NEVER criticize or advise against it. We must respect also what we don’t accept. Everyone has their way. Advising against another’s religion/faith/spirituality creates so much disharmony. No more disharmony. It’s been 19 years since the ban against Dorje Shugden started. It must end please. We have so many things to argue about in this world, let’s make one less conflict. I wish this conflict to end peacefully soon. I wish His Holiness the Dalai Lama and supporters can open channels of communication and solve this issue soon. Peaceful dialogue please and soon. Thank you.
His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama composed this prayer to Dorje Shugden. His Holiness has full clairvoyance and knowledge of the nature of the deity he composed the prayer to when he was younger and when he is older as it is the same mind stream. So not logical His Holiness can make a mistake? If he can make mistakes about deities, then the mistakes cannot be limited to time span: https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/?p=61029
The Dorje Shugden ban has indeed created massive division in the Tibetan society, and even now, those who live outside of Tibet and practise Dorje Shugden, are openly discriminated. Vulgarities and hateful speeches are hurled at Shugden practitioners, they are not allowed to enter schools, monasteries, restaurants and even hospitals that are operated or funded by the Tibetan leadership.
So what they are saying now is religion choices are far more important that one’s education and even one’s precious human life. Now this is wrong, the Buddha teaches compassion and tolerance. So if we can’t accept those we do not share the same religious views as us, it shows what kind of Buddhist or dharma practitioners we are.
Religious freedom means the freedom to practise a certain religion without being discriminated. If amongst all the chaos, prohibitions, violence and ostracism and you still claim that Shugden practitioners have the “freedom” over their practise, I must say that you’re either blind or ignorant. I don’t mean it in a bad way, but if we think logically, just because we don’t see some things, it doesn’t mean that it’s not there.
For example, animal abuse. Just because some of us do not know about the ugly truth behind slaughterhouses, it doesn’t mean that the animals are not in pain, it doesn’t mean that they are not suffering. Those who know about it and really care about the issue, they will always find a solution no mater how hard it takes. Those who know about it and decide to not do anything will continue to live in denial for the rest of their lives. I’m not saying that it’s wrong, it’s your life, it’s your choice. So when it comes to religion, why can’t Shugden practitioners have the freedom of choice or religion to do their practise? I hope the unethical ban will be lifted very swiftly so that Shugden practitioners will not need to suffer anymore.
The ban against the practice of Dorje Shugden is unethical. It is not merely “a matter for the individual” as His Holiness the Dalai Lama has advised.
From a spiritual point of view, the Tantric vow binds teacher and disciple together in a connection of devotion and obedience on the side of the disciple, especially when one’s Lama transmits the oral transmission, commentaries, and empowerment into the practice of a deity. To change or correct the transmission handed down by a root teacher is not possible unless the relationship has been dissolved and the vow has been returned formally. There is serious spiritual consequences if one breaks this vow. Hence, it is not always possible for someone to give up the practice.
Having said that, choosing to practice Dorje Shugden is the right of an individual. Hence, His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) should ask the Tibetans and members of the public to completely stop all discrimination against the practice of Shugden and its practitioners as this is against religious freedom.
His Holiness said he appreciates any organisation or individuals who sincerely make an effort to promote harmony between humanity, and particularly harmony between the various religions. So, why is it that harmony with Shugden practitioners is not viewed important or encouraged by the Tibetans & CTA when it is in their own community?
This ban on Dorje Shugden practice has caused a huge division within Buddhism and destroyed the harmony, good
relationships and peace fellow Buddhists previously enjoyed. Because of this ban, many think that they should regard Dorje Shugden practitioners as their enemies. There are many proof that Dorje Shugden practitioners are refused of medical care, their business boycotted, denied service at shops/ banks, and many more. May the ban against Dorje Shugden practitioners end soon so the unnecessary
suffering of many can end.
It is unbelievable to see that just because people practice a so called evil spirit, they are mistreated.
Before the ban monks will do the Dorje Shugden pujas together, they will see the oracle take trance of Dorje Shugden together, But now about half of the monks are not prevented and encouraged not to take part in any activities involving Dorje Shugden that includes not hanging out with people who practice Dorje Shugden. Anyone who practices Dorje Shugden are subject to be ostracized, mistreated and threatened, in some cases the CTA encourages people to storm monasteries which practice Dorje Shugden.
I hope that everyone will keep working to end the Dorje Shugden conflict, as it is really painful to hear that people are getting abused and mistreated everyday just because of one small factor.
All the high Lamas should be united to spread the Dharma to the 10 directions in this degenerate age. It will be a loss of good opportunities if many of the Dharma practitioners and high Lamas are separated and divided just because of different religious practice. We can become united again as one Dharma family and friends to spread the Dharma teachings to many people who are yet to hear or practice Dharma.
I humbly pray for the ban of Dorje Shugden’s practice to be lifted quickly and may there be no more discrimination against Dorje Shugden practitioners.

It is devastating to see what the Dorje Shugden ban has caused to Buddhism, as well as to the Tibetan Community and also between monasteries, monks and tradition. This is such a strong proof DS Lama and Non-DS lama has always been living in harmony with each other without any conflict.
It is when the ban enforce that all lies, deception, and discrimination arose, those who are ignorant are being taken for a spin and brainwashed by such lies against Dorje Shugden practitioner. This picture speaks for itself the truth about Dorje Shugden Lama and practitioner, it exposes the lies of the Tibetan Leadership who has cause the split amongst the Tibetan community. May more people see the truth about Dorje Shugden, May the ban be swiftly lifted.
you have convinced me Tsem Tulku after much convincing that we are Dorje Shugden people in your other post and that we deserve respect and for that reason even though I gave it up I am still practicing because you have shown me empathy and this is a good cause to support and I want to follow the Dharma and this is my practice so thanks so much for all you do and everything you have done or ever will in advance I think its working keep up the good work Im on board don’t care what anyone says
This ban in Tibetan Buddhism is really unbelieveable. How can a religion like Buddhism come down to not allow people to attend teachings or to isolate their own Tibetan people? Dorje Shugden has been practiced for about 400 years and even by H.H. the Dalai Lama himself. He is contradicting many high lamas but especially his own teachers which is absolutely incredible.
I hope that there will be solution / end to this ban swiftly and that everyone respects the universal human rights. Buddhism is based on compassion, equanimity and wisdom. These important values are clearly not present in this ban.
May we all be friends again!
with folded hands,
Pastor Antoinette
We choose to keep our practice of Dorje Shugden, although it may be difficult for us, just like how people choose to avoid us even though our practice of Dorje Shugden contributes to only one aspect of our lives.
People choose to say the hurtful words that they do, in their misguided attempts to convert us out of the practice. People choose to do research into, then compile and make lists of people who practise Dorje Shugden so that violence may be directed against them.
People choose to print out and put up signs telling Shugden practitioners to go away. People choose to segregate Shugden worshippers from temples and teachings; people choose to refuse them service and medical treatment.
Since it is all choice, there is karma involved. So at the end of the day, if we are serious about our practice, if we are serious about gaining attainments, it’s about making the right choices that creates the least karma.
For the Shugden practitioners, it’s about making the right choice regardless of the difficult circumstances that may arise.
For those who do not rely on Shugden, it’s about making the right choice when it comes to upholding the ban. Do you have to be involved with upholding the ban, and is it really the right choice for your practice to be imposing your opinions on other people’s choices?

Buddhism should be compassion , peaceful come into my mind.why should we criticize or ban others practitioners .if this ban not uplifted , many will suffer. The World is watching this issue, will this affect Tibetan Buddhism reputation ?i am here pray uplifted the ban of Dorje Shudgen.Om Benza Wiki Bitana Soha
Looking at this picture and the message reminds me of what have been and what could be again once the ban comes down. This to me is a good impetus for practitioners of Dorje Shugden to show solidarity in kindness and remembrance of such a time. May more people come to know about Dorje Shugden and that they be liberated and may the practice be allowed to be freely practiced by everyone. May great masters like these two show solidarity in faith and love.
Yes why can’t we be friends? Why is there such a huge discrimination against Dorje Shugden practitioners, even “devil worshippers” are not being condemned this much by the Tibetan leadership and they are “allowed” to attend any of the Dalai Lama’s teaching in reality. But NOT for DS practitioners. And DS lamas are forced to become like enemies. Everyone is split. So how can something good create so much bad results?
Before the ban there was peace and harmony between Dharma Masters, sanghas, brothers and sisters. Before the ban these tow Lamas had the same Guru whom they were both devoted to, and the same Dharma Protector whom they relied upon for the growth of their Dharma centres. Sorry to say this but FPMT would not be where it is today if it wasn’t for DS whom Lama Yeshe relied upon devotedly throughout His life. And then when suddenly FPMT denounce DS, everything else went down hill from then on, even the current incarnation of Lama Yeshe dis-robbed which is clearly not a good sign. But I guess nevermind about all that, seems it is more important to be on the “good books” and be seen to be politically correct, which I do not even know what for because it is such a short term benefit when observe the whole scene which is heading no where.
What is left, they have no country, no official government and how long can they keep using the Dalai Lama as their promoter for sponsorships and support? How long can the Tibetan Leadership blame Dorje Shugden for their own failures in achieving independence? And it is ironic how a Buddhist nation can be so afraid of this one “demonice spirit” yet call themselves Buddhist? What happened to believing in the 3 jewels hence being protected by any spirit? And especially if you are Chenrezig, how can you be harmed then? Just a string of illogical reasons that appears to be more like lies for the peasant minded.
Before the ban everyone was happy, loving and peaceful. That’s what true spirituality is all about isn’t it? Now it is the opposite and it is suppose to be good? It is really very sad that the Tibetans are allowing this split amongst them to happen without realising the culprits behind the biggest schism in Buddhist History. How can any leader encourage disunity amongst its people in such a scale whereby “hate” is considered right. And all this because of an unethical, unjustifiable, illegal ban! Something is terribly wrong and you do not need to be a Buddhist to realise this!
This ban and discrimination on Dorje Shugden practitioners must be abolished immediately and if the Tibetan Leaders are genuine leaders who care for their people, they would do the right thing and honour religious freedom of everyone.
For Thousands of year there ware no problem between any lamas.. Even so highly beings like Ganchen Rinpoche and lama Zopa Rinpoche because the ban it’s very sad now all these lamas can’t stay together or be friends.. I hope this ban be lifted soon..
I believe this is because politics mixing with religion.
Anyhow, I hope this ends soon, and even if someone doesnt like Dorje Shugden I hope he can respect the human beings practicing it, just like they respect their loved ones. We all want to be happy.
Much love from Argentina.

One day, very soon, I hope to see these two great lamas attending each other’s events, warmly greeting each other and holding hands again. I’d love to see the Tibetan Buddhist world united once more and practitioners from different traditions, regardless of whether they practice Dorje Shugden or not, visiting each other and becoming friends. The focus should be on unity, not divisiveness. Buddhists should work together with others, embrace people from different religious and cultural backgrounds to make this world a better place.
This picture speaks a million words for the peaceful and harmonious days before the ban. Teachers were friendly with one another and supported their students and enjoyed their students’ support without any reservations. Lamas and lay people met up with each other in friendly camaraderie. All were Buddhists and are still.
How did it become such a big dividing issue overnight – to be a Shugden practitioner? Did Shugden practitioners turn overnight into monsters with horns? No they didn’t. But perceptions of them changed overnight with the ban.
Again how can any practitioner of Shugden just throw away their practice because it became ‘illegal ‘ to practice Shugden, especially those with root gurus who had still maintained their Shugden practice?
If we have relied on Shugden and he has never failed us, how then can we just believe something for which we have no conviction of truth from the depths of our hearts -that he is a demon? There isn’t any real reason or evidence to even suggest that Shugden is not the compassionate enlightened Protector that he is, and an emanation of Manjushri.
It is painful to see Buddhists divided because of the ban.
May the ban be lifted, and may peace and harmony reign once more.May we all see one another as Buddhists, without labels.
What Rinpoche has said is very true. I am not so sure about other sects of Buddhism, but I know that the Gelugpas has been very peaceful until the arisen of the ban. Lamas were very close to each other as well as the students. But when the ban came up, Lamas were not allowed to meet each other and students became strangers. This is not what we are supposed to practice. We are supposed to be together, harmonize as one, be friends and care for each other; Not throw rocks and stones at monastery where monks who practices DS live and DS practitioners go to pray, not using vulgar word against them.
Buddhists should be peaceful and caring; not harmful and ill mannered to anyone. They have not done anything wrong to be treated like this. So please let them to be able to have quiet and peaceful dinners, let them enter the shops, allow their children enter Tibetan schools, allow them to use the Tibetan facilities and allow them to enter the Tibetan hospitals as they are humans too.
Dear Dalai Lama and the Tibetan leadership, please lift the ban so that the DS practitioners can practice freely without any discrimination. It’s not that hard to do it. All the Tibetan leadership got to do is to instruct the non-practitioners to stop discriminating the DS practitioners but why do they choose to be quiet about it? Thank You for reading.
