Dambakola Patuna
From TheBuddhism.Net
Theri Sanghamitta handed over the Bo sapling of the right branch of the Jaya Shri Maha Bodi, under which Gauthama Buddha attained enlightenment, to King Devanampiyatissa on the December full moon day in 236 BC, at this place. There had been one of the eight Bo saplings planted here. But, enemy troubles have destroyed it.
Today stands a new temple thanks to the hard efforts of the Sri Lanka Navy.
