Thank you for the interesting sharing, I was able to see how different cultures interpret the best meal to start a day. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, though it may look and taste different depending on where you’re from.
I enjoyed looking at the colourful picture and wondering whether all the rich traditional breakfast are feeling, delicious and yummy like our Malaysian nasi lemak. Of course, taking healthy breakfast will increase our energy and helps us to maintain our body healthy.

Interesting to know the various breakfast around the world. I personally prefer breakfast that is simple and healthy. The Malaysia style a cup of Milo and bread. From the list above, I like Swedish breakfast simple and healthy. Notice that quite a few Asian countries have rice for breakfast. I think this is mainly due to the culture and lifestyle where many of them need a lot of energy in work to last them till lunch.
Wow!!! So yummy and delicious looking breakfast! I really feel like eating all of them. Spoilt for a choice! Hehehe 🙂 .Anyway, i think these are the ones that is tempting me, 47. Bahamian Breakfast.32. Egyptian Breakfast.39. Korean Breakfast.30. Breakfast in Peru.4. Polish Breakfast.7. Hawaiian Breakfast. There goes my breakfast! Thank you very much Rinpoche 🙂
Yummy ! Delicious! But a second look says otherwise. Breakfast. the first meal to start our day, sets the tone of our mental attitude towards the rest of the day -peaceful or otherwise. Hence, it’s heartening to to see that in many countries, breakfast is peaceful non-harming breakfast – cereal, bread, scones, and the like.
Breakfast with ham and bacon and other meats means you start your day imbibing the negative energies from the animals killed for your food, and toxins as well as other chemicals. Most unhealthy as well as reinforcing negative energies.Collectively, the mind will have a tendency to stay unpeaceful.
The first thing this post made me think was, “So…basically…I can live pretty much anywhere in the world”. There wasn’t a single breakfast that made me think I would not be happy eating it…
…and then I remembered I was vegetarian. Someone should totally do a vegetarian version of this!
I’m going to go to bed tonight dreaming about the mangoes in the Filipino breakfast, the porridge from Vietnam and (sorry) the shrimp and grits from the Bahamas hehe I know the last one’s a bit naughty but the grits look like mashed potato and we all know how much I like mashed taters! 😉
This is a post which you would not want to read or laid eyes upon when you are having a growling stomach, every picture looked so yum yum, mouth watering, I normally thinks that breakfast should be light and simple, but it seemed that I got it wrong. Most of the breakfast posted here are quite heavy. Yum yum. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this mouth watering post. Hehe…
I realised that almost all the breakfast above included food that is starchy to make us feel full. Starchy food like bread, rice, noodles, fruits, potato, etc. I believe these items would give us the full feeling, but it might not be so healthy. It is said that with too much starchy food, it will cause us to be obese, and obesity would cause us to have many red lights with issues regarding our health.
actually there are so many different kinds of breakfasts here and they are all so unique. now i know how other people in other countries wake up and eat. and some of those looked very delicious and i wouldn’t mind having one… hehe
The German breakfast is not really what we eat for breakfast here in Germany. We eat this (what you see on the picture) in the evening around 6 pm. Many Germans have no breakfast at all but if we do it´s eggs and buns with marmelade or honey. Having meat and sausage for breakfast is not normal here. =)
Dear Rinpoche, some breakfast are not vegetarian. I think the most unhealthy breakfast is number.5 Quick Spanish Breakfast because the whole dish is full with meat or steak. And the most healthy breakfast is number.7 Hawaiian Breakfast because the breakfast is covered with different types of fruits. I wish I could have the chance to eat Hawaiian breakfast.
This is very interesting and wondeful, that we can knows which type of each country breakfast 🙂 It is so yummy and delicious. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this nice post.
Wow… certainly a huge variety of breakfast from all around the world… but I thought Malaysia will be Nasi Lemak or Roti Canai haha…
When I reached to the point of Japanese Breakfast, the image is a tofu lol!!! It’s so funny because most of the breakfasts in other countries are so filling… take for example the Polish Breakfast.. oh my there’s so much to eat for one serving!
Another one that cracked me ups is the Australian Breakfast lol! Though I highly doubt all they have in the morning is one piece of toast with butter!
Hehe I love this post! A greedo like me definitely always loves looking at pictures of food!! (even if I can’t eat half of it since I’m vegetarian).
It’s interesting though how much emphasis we place on getting to eat different kinds of foods. As I looked through these pictures I’m reminded of something Rinpoche once said about how nothing is really new in samsara – that every new and interesting meal that we go to great distances to eat is really just the same sorts of ingredients cooked in a different way. At the end of the day, when you come down to the essence of it all, it’s all still just meat, bread, potatoes and vegetables! LOL so many of the pictures above kind of feature the same sorts of foods, just cooked up in different ways – bread, eggs, some meats, cheese etc…
Having said that of course, I really wouldn’t say no to someone inviting me out for a big slap up breakfast!!
Oh my… what a variety of of choices… Breakfast is an important as it is the first meal one takes which should provide the nutrients and energy that one needs for the day.
What is interesting is how varied the choices are according to one’s geographical location using the local produce. All provide the necessary boost for the body to kick start the day!
Ever thought breakfast was boring… well not anymore!!!
some of these breakfast are not vegetarian.its amazing we managed to get malaysian breakfast normally in malaysia we eat nasi lemak.for everyone’s information french people like to dip their croissant in their coffee or their hot chocolate.most of them look delicious.it would be good for SengPiow to learn how to make a french breakfast it would be nice.breakfast in Peru seems like dinner.
Some of the breakfast servings are so heavy — the one from Iran is more than enough to cover breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner and supper! I miss nasi lemak.
The healthiest must be the one from Iceland.
Some of the meals are so “heavy”. Can be for lunch or dinner. I personally like oats, bread, sandwiches for breakfast. At one time, I was taking seabird’s nest with oats, raisins and flax seeds for breakfast. Its healthy and doesn’t make us feel lethargic and sleepy which happens if we take too much carbohydrates.
Breakfast need not be a grand affair. My breakfast is simply a cup of my favorite beverage plus some cookies. Looking at the pictures above, one would think that breakfast is some countries is such a grand affair.
My breakfast will be the simple bread with butter and jam along with a cup of Milo. At times, will be a simple nasi lemak or a plate of fried mee to start the day.
Thanks Rinpoche for sharing this. What a variety of breakfast we have here.
My all time favorite breakfast are English and Australian.Just like it, simple and nice with a cup of Coffee. This just start up my day.
Even breakfasts have so many styles and varieties, for chinese, I quite like to take porridge as my breakfast, its kind of memory to me, mum used to cook Teowchew porridge for us…..
Thanks Rinpoche for sharing this interesting post!
You are what you eat.. and I love the hawaiian breakfast.
The breakfast in Peru looks very exotic I cant even begin to guess what it is.
Food of a particular region is good for the people of inhabiting that region, in the sense that people who have lived most of their lives in one particular area are eating food sources available in those areas.
And the people there have been eating them for generations and generations.
So traditional foods in those area would suit best the people who originate from the same area. There are exceptions though, for example the people of a particular region eats a lot of rice as a lot of them were farmers, as modernisation forces us to trade in their farming tools for pens and deskjobs then eating so much rice may not be good for them anymore as they do not work out enough to burn up the calories.
To me, breakfast is the most most important meal in a day. I like my breakfast to be a full filling one. This blog post, is so ‘delicious’. And, is a good knowledge for how others people eat. Interesting!
I would take the Hawaiian right now 🙂
William is right. Nasi lemak is missing. Roti canai too. Hehe.
OMG! I am so hungry now.
Yummy! Where is the Nasi Lemak?
