This message with the hysterically funny picture and ‘rubbing-it-in’ thumbs-up was sent by MMS from Beng Kooi this afternoon to me. I thought it was so funny!!
Raj Kumar is our good friend from Nepal and a very good sport. We all love him very much. And I love the thumbs-up too!!! He is here on a holiday to Malaysia with his wife. His wife’s first time out of Nepal in her whole life. What a great pleasure it is for the ladrang to host their visit.

His shades are very funny and cute. Rinpoche always puts a lot of care into his students and so much compassion is at play here. Rinpoche’s compassion makes him an exceptional teacher. I think I have met Raj before and he was a cool guy! Very hardworking.
The first time I met Raj Kumar was in KL when Rinpoche invited him here. We brought him all around KL to see the different tourist sites together with his wife.
They are both very pleasant people who does incredible brocade work for thangkas. I have seen some of their work where they’ve made brocade for thangkas which are 10-storeys high! Many of the thangkas that are now within the monasteries in Kathmandu were probably brocaded by them.
I hope to see him and his wife soon!
Dear Rinpoche, Raj kumar looked so funny in this photo. The pair of glasses look very funny and cute. I hope Raj kumar and his wife had a great holiday at Malaysia and may his eye power become lessen so that he don’t have to wear glasses everywhere he goes. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this photo to everyone.
As usual Rinpoche has turn into the kind Santa Claus again. He has been doing this very often. But this time it is to a visitor and guest from Nepal called Rajkumar and his wife Sangita. As a show of gratitude to Rajkumar, Rinpoche ask his students to bring Rajkumnar for shopping. One of the items that was purchased for Rajkumar was a pair of glasses to correct his eye astigmatism. When Rinpoche was setting up the Kechara Lounge with his students in Nepal. Rajkumar was there to help with the setting up the place. Then when Rajkumar came to Malaysia with his wife Sangita for holiday they help KSK to deliver food to the homeless. Sangita found it interesting and meaningful. She said when she go back to Nepal she will start a group to distribute food also like what KSK is doing.
What a funny photo! I think Raj Kumar’s eyes must have deteriorated over the years, having worked so hard to provide for his family and build a name for himself in the tailor industry in Nepal. He’s actually quite a well-known tailor in the Kathmandu area, and has travelled to KL quite a few times to teach and volunteer in KSA. In fact, on this trip when he got glasses made, not only did he volunteer in KSA but both he and his wife also went on the KSK rounds very regularly. The work touched them so much, Sangita was inspired to start her own version in Nepal with her friends! See, the effect of beneficial works is like a ripple in a pond 🙂
Terima Kasih Rinpoche!
Raj is cool! LOL
That reminds me of the Nepalese guys I met at KSA whilst volunteering there and they are such kind and warm people and willing to share with you their knowledge. And they have to travel so far just to make a living here and it is wonderful how Rinpoche looks after them so well as compared to general working conditions that their fellow countrymen face elsewhere. Sadhu!
TWO THUMBS UP!! Raj Kumar is a great guy
Cool shades!
