In 2014, I had the opportunity to make an offering of a 3-foot Amitayus statue to H.E. Gyara Rinpoche for his good health and long life

(By Tsem Rinpoche)

Dear friends around the world,

I would like to share with you this very exciting news of H.E. Gyara Rinpoche’s recent beneficial activities in his birth place, Yading, Daocheng County of Sichuan Province, China, historically known as the Dabpa region of Kham area of Tibet. In the past month, Gyara Rinpoche has been visiting different villages in Yading, accompanied by a number of monks from Shar Gaden Monastery, to give teachings and share Dharma with the people there.

Gyara Rinpoche

H.E. Gyara Rinpoche in Yangting Dechen Ling Monastery

Gyara Rinpoche, also known as Lobsang Tenpai Gyaltsen Gelek Kheldup Palsangpo, is an incumbent of Shar Gaden Monastery in India and studied at the feet of H.E. Kyabje Dagom Rinpoche and many other erudite lamas of our time including H.H. the 101st Gaden Trisur Rinpoche Lungrik Namgyal and H.H. Yongyal Rinpoche.

Among the many virtuous activities of his trip, Gyara Rinpoche gave Dorje Shugden’s life entrustment initiation (sogtae) to a few thousand monks and lay people in Yangting Dechen Ling Monastery yesterday!

Yangting Dechen Ling, also known as Shugden Monastery, is thriving under the leadership of its current abbot, Venerable Geshe Tenzin Peljor, and has produced many illustrious and eminent scholar-monks including H.E. Zemey Rinpoche, Venerable Geshe Tendar Rinpoche and H.H. Yongyal Rinpoche.

Thousands of sanghas and lay people were present.

Thousands of sangha and lay people were present

Daocheng County has a population of 32,450 of which 70%-80% are Dorje Shugden practitioners. There are many Dorje Shugden lamas and geshes in Yading too. Therefore, it is no surprise that through word of mouth, many flocked to attend Gyara Rinpoche’s teachings in Yading.

Note: The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) has on many occasions stressed that Dorje Shugden practitioners are a minority. Looking at the thousands of Tibetans who gathered at Yangting Dechen Ling Monastery, it is not difficult to spot the glaring inaccuracy of the CTA’s claim!

gyararinpoche002

Apart from the Dorje Shugden sogtae, Gyara Rinpoche also gave a few days of Lamrim teachings as well as the Guhyasamaja initiation in Yangding Monastery. Of particular note is the fact that following the sogtae, Gyara Rinpoche took the time to give an excellent commentary on Dorje Shugden’s qualities and history to strengthen the people’s faith in Dorje Shugden through knowledge and understanding.

Practitioners and supporters of Gyara Rinpoche had gathered around to attend the teaching.

Gyara Rinpoche’s supporters and Dorje Shugden practitioners gathered for the event

In addition, Gyara Rinpoche gave a logical explanation of the Dorje Shugden controversy and the unlawful ban imposed by the CTA, thus creating much needed awareness of the truth behind the Dorje Shugden issue. This is very important in our struggle to lift the Dorje Shugden ban that has caused so much suffering in the Tibetan exile community and beyond.

I truly and sincerely rejoice that Gyara Rinpoche, a fully qualified Geshe Lharampa, spoke so clearly and fearlessly on this controversial subject, thus making it easy for people to understand the benefits that Dorje Shugden can bestow and why the ban on this practice is undoubtedly wrong. To teach based on logic and history is very effective and it is also how I would do it.

Below is a video of Gyara Rinpoche’s teachings to give you an idea of how many have benefited from this event. Rejoice and make a strong motivation that you too may have the merits to receive teachings from qualified lamas like Gyara Rinpoche in the near future.

Gyara Rinpoche

Thousands of sanghas and lay people were present.

Practitioners and supporters of Gyara Rinpoche had gathered around to attend the teaching.

It is just great news that Gyara Rinpoche gave Dorje Shugden sogtae and there were so many people that attended the ceremony. With a county that has 70-80% that are Dorje Shugden practitioners shows clearly that Dorje Shugden practice is definitely not a minority practice.? This would definitely inspire faith, hope and contribute to bringing down of the ban.The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) has on many occasions stressed that Dorje Shugden practitioners are a minority. Looking at the thousands of Tibetans who gathered at Yangting Dechen Ling Monastery, it is not difficult to spot the glaring inaccuracy of the CTA’s claim. Thank you Rinpoche and blog team for this auspicious sharing?????

    Dear friends,

Tibet has produced many powerful meditations, rituals and guidelines to help us gain spiritual protection, gain wisdom and higher states of consciousness. In general Tibet has produced many powerful methods for the growth of our spiritual evolution. Dorje Shugden is an angel, a saint, a powerful spiritual protector-warrior who originated 350 years ago when a highly awakened Tibetan Lama fulfilled his vows to become a special being to grant protection, wisdom, material needs, safety when travelling (normal and astral travel) and spiritual awakening. Both the Great 5th Dalai Lama and the current His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama composed short yet effective prayers to invoke upon the power and blessings of this special saint and protector. One can recite either one of the prayers that you feel suits you, anytime or even daily. When you feel a special need for help, you can recite either prayer anytime. When you are feeling down, afraid or just need a blessing, you can recite them. After reciting either invocation, it is good to chant the mantra of Dorje Shugden: Om Benza Wiki Bitana Soha.

You do not have to be a Buddhist or practitioner of any religion to invoke upon the blessings and protection of this special enlightened and awakened angel Dorje Shugden. He helps all without discrimination or bias as he is filled with compassion and love. Divinity has no boundaries, they help all who call upon them.

Enclosed are the prayers in English, Chinese and Tibetan.

May you be safe, protected and blessed.

Divination (‘mo’) Text by Dorje Shugden

This is an important divination (‘mo’) text composed by Dorje Shugden himself. Dorje Shugden took trance of the Choyang Dulzin oracle lama, the senior oracle of Gaden Shartse Monastery, and instantly on the spot composed this text within two hours.

The divination text contains information on how to use dice to do divination for the future and is known to be highly accurate. When practitioners use this text, they will be in direct contact with Dorje Shugden to get answers to questions about the future. It is for those who have good samaya with Dorje Shugden and are free of the eight worldly dharmas to be of benefit to others in divining the future.

His Holiness the 10th Panchen Lama

Tibetans commonly refer to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama as the “sun and moon” of Tibetan Buddhism. They are the center of Tibetan Buddhist civilization, which draws to its sphere of influence millions of non-Tibetan practitioners. The Panchen Lama’s incarnation line began with the 16th abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen (1570 – 1662). He was bestowed the title of Panchen Lama by His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama after being declared as an emanation of Amitabha.

After being given the title, his three previous incarnations were posthumously also bestowed the title, making Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen the 4th Panchen Lama. He became a teacher to many Tibetans, Bhutanese and Mongolian religious figures, including His Holiness the 4th and 5th Dalai Lamas, and the 1st Jetsun Dampa of Mongolia. A prolific author, Chokyi Gyeltsen is credited with over a hundred compositions, including a number of commentaries and ritual texts that remain central in the Gelukpa tradition today. Along with his role as a teacher of the Dharma, the Panchen Lamas are usually responsible for the recognition of the rebirths of the Dalai Lamas, and vice versa.

The 10th Panchen Lama, Lobsang Trinley Lhundrub Chokyi Gyeltsen (19 February 1938 – 28 January 1989) continued both the spiritual and political roles of his predecessors. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, his contemporary, was even heard to say and echo the Panchen Lama’s own words that the Dalai Lama would safeguard Tibet from the outside while the Panchen Lama would safeguard Tibet from the inside, as he never left Tibet after the political troubles of 1959. He was truly loved by the Tibetans, all the way until his passing. When he taught, thousands of people would attend, not only from his own Gelug lineage, but masters and practitioners from all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.

At his sprawling monastery of Tashi Lhunpo, he has a special chapel specifically dedicated to Dorje Shugden, where prayers and rituals are performed on a daily basis. In his great omniscience the Panchen Lama held Dorje Shugden as the principal Dharma protector of the monastery. He also personally propitiated Dorje Shugden among other Dharma protectors, and even wrote extensive prayers and rituals to Dorje Shugden. These rituals and prayers are contained within his ‘sung bum’ or collected works, which are provided here. As such a great lama, with an erudite and clear understanding of the Buddhist scriptures, a teacher to millions in both Tibet and China, from an established incarnation line and an emanation of the Buddha Amitabha, he could not be mistaken about his practice of Dorje Shugden.

His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama is known for his composition of commentaries and practice texts that are still in use by contemporary Buddhist practitioners both in Tibet and across the world. One of these is a powerful ritual composition propitiating the compassionate Dorje Shugden.

Upon the request by Acharya Lobsang Jangchub to compose a shorter version of the prayer (sadhana) for the exhortation of activities of Dorje Shugden, Panchen Lama immediately composed an abbreviate form of Dorje Shugden’s Kangsol. This text is entitled “Manjunatha’s (Tsongkapa) Lineage protector Dorje Shugden and five forms wrathful propitiations and confessional prayers and fulfilment of activities rites” or “Melodious sound of Accomplishment of the Four Activities” for short. Once the prayers were completed, he had signs and strong feelings that Dorje Shugden has been working hard to protect the Buddhadharma in general and the lineage of Lama Tsongkhapa specifically.

Mirroring the abilities of one of his earlier incarnations, Khedrub Je, a disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa and master of both sutra and tantra, the Panchen Lama used his compositional skill and poetic prowess to create a masterful sadhana. Worthy of note is a praise in which the first letter of each verse is a Tibetan vowel. Such compositions are rarely seen, and have historically only been used when propitiating senior Dharma protectors such as Palden Lhamo and Kalarupa.

The Panchen Lama also stated that while composing the Dorje Shugden sadhana (prayers) he was filled with a sense of happiness and bliss. He ends the composition with not only his official title but his ordination name, Tenzin Trinley Jigme Choje Wangchuk, endorsing the validity of his work. He composed the sadhana in his own Tashi Lhunpo monastery while in the Hall of Clear Light and Bliss.

For the first time available, Dorje Shugden and his entourage of 32 asssistants of his mandala.

Dorje Shugden is a powerful protector deity who is also an emanation of Manjushri, a wisdom bestowing Buddha. Therefore, he has great ability to help us to progress further on the spiritual path. He does this by helping us to overcome obstacles and problems for the modern individual.

Due to his enlightened nature, Dorje Shugden is able to manifest 32 deities and within the same abode resides Setrap and Kache Marpo:-

    1. 5 Dorje Shugden families or emanations. They consists of the following:-

    – Dulzin Dorje Shugden, which performs activities to eliminate inner and outer obstacles.
    – Shize, which performs activities to pacify all illnesses and disease.
    – Gyenze, which performs activities to increase all desirable material and spiritual wealth.
    – Wangze, which performs activities to control difficult people and circumstances.
    – Trakze, which performs activities to wrathfully eliminate all insurmountable obstacles and life-threatening situations.

    2. 9 Mothers. They represent protection of the five senses and developing control of the four elements. These are all attributes that signify their ability to assist tantric practitioners with their higher meditations.

    3. 8 Guiding Monks. They represent the Eight Great Bodhisattvas (Avalokitesvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Samantabhadra, Maitreya, Kshitigarbha, Akashagarbha, Sarva-nivarana-viskambini) and they bring about the growth of the Dharma, through the Sangha, Dharma practitioners and Dharma establishments.

    4. 10 Youthful & Wrathful Attendants. They represent the ten wrathful attendants to avert inner and outer obstacles. They are beings who are from Mongolia, China, Kashmir, India, Bengali, etc.

    5. Setrap. He is a senior Dharma Protector from India and an emanation of Amitabha Buddha. He had enthroned Dorje Shugden as an authentic Dharma Protector. Therefore, he also resides within the same mandala of Dorje Shugden.

    6. Kache Marpo. He is not an emanation of Dorje Shugden but he is still an enlightened Dharma Protector in his own right. He was originally known as Tsiu Marpo of Samye Monastery. However, he has placed himself under the service of Dorje Shugden as his chief minister, performing many activities in order to protect and benefit practitioners. Therefore, he stands guard at the main entrance of Dorje Shugden’s mandala. He often takes trance of qualified mediums to speak.

H.E. Gyara Rinpoche an erudite scholar gave Dorje Shugden’s life entrustment initiation to monks and lay people in Yangting Dechen Ling Monastery. There were thousands of devotees participated this sacred moment. Participants were given commentary on Dorje Shugden’s qualities and history to strengthen their faith and understanding. Not only that, Gyara Rinpoche gave logical explanation to the Dorje Shugden ban to create awareness of the truth behind this unlawful ban. Besides Dorje Shugden sogtae, Gyara Rinpoche gave a few days of Lamrim teachings as well as the Guhyasamaja initiation.

CTA has always comes up with many baseless criticism and allegations that Tibetan people shouldn’t practice Dorje Shugden. CTA also claimed that Dorje Shuden practice is minority but just looking at these amounts of people who came for Gyara Rinpoche’s teachings. These few thousands Dorje Shugden devotees are just part of the people in Daocheng County. This is how ridiculous and inaccurately CTA’s claim.

After over 20 years of anti-Dorje Shugden propaganda, many people are beginning to see past the false rhetoric to see the divine goodness of the Protector. This comment on Rinpoche’s YouTube channel is truly encouraging and signals a change in the people’s understanding and perception of this holy practice-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vl-4lIwxph4&t=11s

Trode Khangsar Chapel in Lhasa, Tibet

Over 400 years ago a great and learned lama Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was famed in Mongolia, Tibet, Nepal and China for being very saintly and compassionate. He resided in his residence (Zimkhang Gongma Ladrang) in Drepung Monastery. His root guru was H.H. the Omniscient 4th Panchen Lama and his close dharma brother was the 5th Dalai Lama.

The 5th Dalai Lama and Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen had a very close and dharmic relationship and often went to receive teachings together from the 4th Panchen Lama. They were close in age. They both became very learned and well known. During this time, the Dalai Lama was enthroned as a Dharma King of Tibet. But more people went to see Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen for teachings, initiations and divinations. This made the attendants of the 5th Dalai Lama feel threatened that Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s fame might usurp the power of the 5th Dalai Lama. So they had a khata forced down his throat. At that moment, Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen dissolved his psychic winds and generated the wish to be a great guardian of Buddha and Tsongkapa’s teachings. As his consciousness dissolved, he entered ‘bardo’ as a dharma protector of the highest order (jikten depey sungma). Many signs were seen throughout Lhasa at this time and the earth was said to have shaken in Lhasa. This event was already predicted to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s previous incarnation when he was one of the 8 main disciples of Lord Tsongkapa the Supreme Master and he served Tsongkapa directly by building Gaden Monastery.

When the 5th Dalai Lama heard what his scheming and power-hungry attendants had done, he was very distressed. He was very sorry Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was murdered and dishonored as he was a great dharma master. The 5th Dalai Lama composed an apology to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen. In Lhasa, tens of thousands gathered for the cremation of Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s holy body. During the cremation, the 5th Dalai Lama’s apology was read out at which flames spontaneously arose from the body of Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen commencing the cremation. From the body, during cremation, a powerful whirlwind of smoke tunneled into the sky for all to see as this was an indication Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s consciousness has arisen as the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. The Dharma Protector Setrap immediately recognized this new protector Dorje Shugden and ‘enthroned’ him as a powerful Dharma Protector in the realm of the Buddhas. From this, Setrap and Dorje Shugden are closely connected and very close working hand in hand always. After the cremation, the great 5th Dalai Lama built a Dorje Shugden chapel on the spot the cremation took place and named it Trode Khangsar. The 5th Dalai Lama commissioned the statue of Dorje Shugden in this chapel and had monks installed in the chapel to do continuous propitiations to Dorje Shugden. Trode Khangsar Chapel was a commemoration to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen who was wronged and also a celebration of his consciousness arising as the World Peace Peace Protector Dorje Shugden.

This Trode Khangsar Chapel still exists now in Lhasa where many make pilgrimages there. It is in good condition and was recently renovated. It is over 400 years old and a testimony to the respect the Great 5th Dalai Lama had to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen who arose as Dorje Shugden.

I have visited this holy chapel in Lhasa years back. I’ve never heard of it till I was in Lhasa and by chance, I was told about it which I was happy to visit. I could not find the place but strangely a bunch of pilgrims from Amdo told me they would show me how to get there in Lhasa.

This short video is a short clip of this holy Trode Khangsar Chapel in Lhasa today commemorating Dorje Shugden, built by the great 5th Dalai Lama. The great 5th Dalai Lama even composed a prayer to Dorje Shugden which is still available today and we can recite to invoke the blessings, protection, and assistance of World Peace Protector Dorje Shugden.

    HUM
Though unmoving from the sphere of primordial spontaneity,
With wrathful turbulent power, swifter than lightning,
Endowed with heroic courage to judge good and bad,
I invite you with faith, please come to this place!

Robes of a monk, crown adorned with rhinoceros leather hat,
Right hand holds ornate club, left holds a human heart,
Riding various mounts such as nagas and garudas,
Who subdues the mamos of the charnel grounds, praise to you!

Samaya substances, offerings and torma, outer, inner and secret,
Favourite visual offerings and various objects are arranged.
Although, previously, my wishes were a bit dense,
Do not stop your powerful apparitions, I reveal and confess!

Now respectfully praising with body, speech, and mind,
For us, the masters, disciples, benefactors and entourages,
Provide the good and avert the bad!
Bring increase like the waxing moon in spiritual and temporal realms!

This is indeed great news! Am very happy to read that over 2000 monk and lay practitioners had great merits to receive this sacred life entrustment, Lamrim teachings as well as the Guhyasamaja initiation in Yangding Monastery.

I applaud and admire Gyara Rinpoche’s immense courage to speak out about the controversy and his efforts in spreading this beneficial protector practice by giving teachings and explanations to help people understand and gain faith in Dorje Shugden.

While watching the short clip, I could not help but wish that I was actually one of those sitting in the monastery receiving Dorje Shugden sogtae and teachings from an esteemed Lama like Gyara Rinpoche. May we have the good fortune to receive teachings and sogtae from qualified Lamas in the very near future so that we are able to use our body, speech and mind to bring the practice of Dorje Shugden to the world. May we be able to see events such as this in our very own Kechara Forest Retreat soon.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing the article. It is inspiring that to see so many attended the Dorje Shugden Sogtae initiated by Gyara Rinpoche who is a qualified Geshe Llarampa, who studied and mastered the Dharma. Rinpoche also gave Lamrim teachings and even Guhyasamaja initiation and all are welcome. Rinpoche true intention is to spread the Dharma without other agenda. There’s no discrimination on your religion believe.

The only way to generate faith is through knowledge and understanding. When we understand deeper, we know the ban is simply illogical. DS is an enlightened protector special for our lineage, hence practicing DS is very important throughout our spiritual path.

I wish to see more and more high lamas and tulkus will talk about DS openly and more teachings and sogtae will be given more often to benefit more people.

Due to the ban, it is not easy for him to spread DS but he is still standing firm and spreading the precious lineage to benefit others. I respect him very much!

I also rejoice that he is giving the Lamrim teachings as well as the Guhyasamaja initiation in Yangding Monastery. Precious!

  28. Pastor KH Ng on Aug 1, 2016 at 5:09 pm

To give teachings of the Holy Lamrim, initiations of a Highest Yoga Tantra and the Dorje Shugden sogtae; it is only logical that the Protector is what the Lineage Lamas has been saying; that the Protector is Enlightened. Otherwise, it is not logical.

Also, for hundred of thousands of people in one county to be Dorje Shugden devotee, the practice by extension must be huge;…certainly not a minority practice.

I am anticipating bigger things to come….!

Yes, as Rinpoche has said, “Rejoice and make strong motivation that we too may have the merits to receive teachings from qualified Lamas like Gyara Rinpoche in the near future.” H.E. Gyara Rinpoche, an incumbent of Shar Gaden Monastery in India, has studied at the feet of H.E. Kyabje Dagom Rinpoche and many other erudite Lamas of our time, including H.H. the 101st Gaden Tisur Rinpoche Lungrik Namgyal and H.H. Yongyal Rinpoche. It would certainly be greatly meritorious to be able to receive Dharma teachings from H.E. Gyara Rinpoche, especially like those lucky people of Daocheng County in Yading. Even through word of the mouth, many, including Lamas and Geshes, flocked to attend Gyara Rinpoche’s teachings in Yading, on the unlawful Ban of Dorje Shugden. As described and shown through video recordings, Gyara Rinpoche spoke so clearly and fearlessly on this controvesial issue, based on logic and history! It has also been repeatedly voiced out that this Ban has caused so much suffering to the exiled community in Tibet and beyond. May the Ban be lifted swiftly and, may all untruthful information on Dorje Shugden be totally cleared. OM BENZA WIKI BITANA SOHA.

  31. Vinnie Tan on Jul 31, 2016 at 4:58 am

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing such great news with all of us here.

It is just great news that Gyara Rinpoche gave Dorje Shugden sogtae and there were so many people that attended the ceremony. With a county that has 70-80% that are Dorje Shugden practitioners shows clearly that Dorje Shugden practice is definitely not a minority practice. It is something that is done by many.

The CTA once again has given false information to make their stand look stronger. However, when people look more into what they are doing, it is evident that these claims that the CTA make are all a form of rumour to continue their harm for Dorje Shugden practitioners.

  32. MartinC on Jul 31, 2016 at 4:14 am

This is news to be very happy about. The CTA keeps insisting wrongly that Dorje Shugden is a minority practice that has been eradicated. Clearly that is not the case.

One thing to note is how Gyara Rinpoche gave Dorje Shugden life entrustment to the people and along the way, Rinpoche taught them Lamrim and also carried out Guhyasamaja initiations. Wouldn’t it be odd for a Rinpoche to teach the Lamrim, initiate the people into a tantra of the highest class, and at the same time swear them to entrust their lives to a ‘demon’ (as the CTA likes to say Shugden is). It just doesn’t make any sense.

The proof that Dorje Shugden is not a bad practice and is not ‘anti-Dharma’ is the simple fact that it is never taught in isolation of Dharma teachings, but usually together.

I find it extremely encouraging that lamas like Gyara Rinpoche are beginning to talk about the Dorje Shugden controversy. To me, it is a sign that soon the people of the world will see the conflict not from the perspective of propaganda, but with logic as the basis.

  33. Pee Bee Chong on Jul 27, 2016 at 1:51 am

Thank you Rinpoche for the sharing.

Many flocked to attend and receive teachings and DS sogtae from Gyara Rinpoche in Yading had indicated that Dorje Shugden practice are popular and beneficial to the practitioners. They have faith with Dorje Shugden.

This also proof that CTA’s claim where DS practitioners is only practise by minority people are incorrect.

In order to relief the suffering of DS practitioners, It is important for us to learn and creative much needed awareness on the truth behind DS issue. We must share this information with others so that they have knowledge on the truth story of this unlawful ban and thus will not be affected by incorrect claim from CTA

    Thank you

Such a joyous news to read, that Dorje Shugden’s practice is so widely accepted in places where the ban is not implemented and where people are not policing over your spiritual practice. The fact that Dorje Shugden’s practice is growing is a clear sign of the benefits of his practice, and this truth cannot be hidden by those who wish to suppress the practice.

I had the fortune to meet Gyara Rinpoche a few years back. Rinpoche is a very nice, friendly and humble monk. You wouldn’t be able to tell him apart from the regularly monk walking down the street, and yet he is a Rinpoche and a learnt Geshe/scholar… that’s how humble he is. To see Gyara Rinpoche giving such a massive teaching in what looks like an unplanned event, and giving initiation of Dorje Shugden to thousands of people, is just amazing. It shows that the people in the area are ever ready to receive teachings and it was as if they’d drop everything to attend the teachings. I hope one day, Malaysians too will have this attitude ingrained within us.

May lamas like Gyara Rinpoche will continue to have great influence so that they may disperse the Dharma effectively.

I appreciate very much for Rinpoche introducing this practice to us all in Malaysia. My family and I have personally experience so much help and protection from DS that words just cannot express His Compassion for us in samsra and His methods and ways of helping us in our Dharma practice.

    Dear Rinpoche,

Thank you for sharing this with us. This clearly shows that many people still have faith in Dorje Shugden and still practising him. This songtae initiation can attract over 2000 people to show up to receive the initiation is a solid proof that there are alot of Dorje Shugden practitioners out there. We are certainly not in small numbers and certainly Dorje Shugden practice is not dying out.

The only reason why so many people still practising Dorje Shugden despite of the ban imposed by the Dalai Lama is because they truly felt the benefit of the practice. Who would be so foolish to keep practising something that harmed them? They had such strong faith to Dorje Shugden because they themselves had practised it and experienced the benefit that it brings.

    Humbly,

This is extremely encouraging news on many levels…

    1) in some areas of Tibet, the practice of Dorje Shugden continues to be coveted, as evidenced by the number of people who turned up to receive sogtae. Hence we can say that the ban has not been successful in stamping out the practice in Tibet and it never will be

    2) the truth about the ban and its background is being spread by fearless lamas inside Tibet. As one person speaks, more and more will speak up. The truth therefore cannot be kept hidden for long as the news will be circulated by those who attended

    3) for the over 2000 people who became Gyara Rinpoche’s students when they received sogtae, this means another 2000 people who are confirmed Shugden practitioners. It also means their families will probably end up relying on Shugden or, at the very least, not suppress the practice. Slowly but surely therefore, it will result in a more conducive and less hostile environment for Shugden practitioners

It is important that information like this gets out to the world because so many outside of Tibet who do not know about the enduring popularity of Shugden practice. They just assume what the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan leadership say about Tibet, Tibetans and Shugden to be true when clearly it is not. So thank you Rinpoche for sharing this good news with us!

Thank you Rinpoche for introducing another lama who is fearless when it comes to upholding their practices. The Dorje Shugden sogtae ceremony is worth rejoicing for because the folks in Yading created the causes to receive it especially the Dharma teachings. With the Dharma teachings that goes together with sogtae they can practice more effectively in their daily lives.

The fact that so many of these practitioners attended the Dorje Shugden sogtae signify the practice is alive and well accepted by many and its benefits. Therefore when one experience setbacks or delusion it is due to the purification effect happening. One should rejoice some negative karma is cleared and continue to keep up the practice.

It is heartwarming to see the big numbers of Dorje Shugden practitioners in Daocheng county. The people must have benefitted from the practice of Dorje Shugden, otherwise why such a large number of people follow this practice. It is also heartwarming to see Dorje Shugden high Lamas like Gyara Rinpoche holding on steadfast to their practice and spreading the Dharma far and wide.
Once a practitioner receives the Life Entrustment of Dorje Shugden, Dorje Shugden is sworn to protect the initiate until the initiate has achieved Bodhicitta, and the initiate swears to take Dorje Shugden as their Protector until they attain Bodhicitta. Regardless of whether Bodhicitta is gained in this lifetime or over the course of several lifetimes, Dorje Shugden is sworn to guide and protect the practitioner until its fruition.

Thank you Rinpoche sharing the news about the Dorje Shugden sogtae give by Gyara Rinpoche and his commentary about Dorje Shugden’s qualities and the logical explanation about the Dorje Shugden controversy. While rejoicing for the practitioners who able to receive the sogtae from powerful protector of our times – Dorje Shugden; it’s heartening to see more and more Dorje Shugden lamas comes and speak up about the ban.

Pictures say thousand words…This article not only shows Dorje Shugden are practised by many around the world it’s time to end the sufferings it has caused for the past 19 years. Even you are minority in a society/country, you are entitle to freedom such as freedom to choose your faith and practise it… but in this case Dorje Shugden people’s who is not minority, but have been denied.

Few years back I met Gyara Rinpoche once. Rinpoche is very down to earth, quiet and very learned. This piece of great news shed lights to the DS community who has been suppressed by the CTA for decades, because despite the suppression and opposition, more and more DS Lama are fearlessly propagating DS teachings, speak about the unethical ban on Dorje Shugden publicly and even giving Sogtae the utmost precious gift we can get as a DS practitioner. We urge more DS Lama to speak up publicly about this ban and let the world know this ban should be ended as soon as possible.

  48. Fong on Jul 22, 2016 at 4:46 am

Rejoice to read of this teaching of the Dharma, not just about Dorje Shugden practice itself, by H.E. Gyara Rinpoche in Yading.

The Lamrim teaching is such a backbone of the Gelug teaching in Tibetan Buddhism. H.E. Gyara Rinpoche in teaching the Lamrim also included the commentary on Dorje Shugden qualities and history, gave initiations of Guhyasamaja and sogtae on Dorje Shugden. How blessed are the people of Yading!

Besides that even the logical explanation of the Dorje Shugden controversy and the unlawful ban imposed by the CTA was raised. All about knowledge and the right perspective.

Very moving and inspiring to read of these activities.

Thank you, Rinpoche for sharing. May Rinpoche’s wishes manifest smoothly and swiftly.

  49. Lew on Jul 22, 2016 at 4:12 am

Wow! Thousands of people attending the event and receive Sogtae! On top of that, Lamrim is being taught. Rejoice for the growth of Dharma and the spreading of Dorje Shugden teaching in China (and everywhere!)

It is so important people these day to understand the Dharma and Lamrim is a good place to start. I personally have not read much Buddhist scriptures, but when I read the Lamrim, it explains many aspects of Buddhism in a simple and logical manner.

May the Lamrim teaching and Dorje Shugden practice spread even bigger to benefit countless sentient beings.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing such a rejoicing news of H.E. Gyara Rinpoche giving Dorje Shugden’s life entrustment initiation (sogtae) to a few thousand monks and lay people in Yangting Dechen Ling Monastery yesterday. How wonderful for Gyara Rinpoche, a Geshe Lharampa to explain about the ban so that the people will understand and be able to have faith in Lord Dorje Shugden to stand firm in face of the controversy. It is so heartening to see so many people flocking to Yangting Dechen Ling Monastery for this blessed life entrustment, an absolute contrast to the lies told by CTA that Shugden practitioners are the minority. The people of Yading are so blessed to be confered such powerful Protector to guide them on their spiritual path.
May we at Kechara have the merits to one day be blessed to receive this powerful Buddha Dorje Shugden Sogtae from our precious Guru. _()_

May there be more qualified lamas who will fearlessly talk more about the ban and the benefits of this Protector practice just like HE Tsem Rinpoche and may there too be many wonderful lamas like Gyara Rinpoche coming to visit and bless KFR

  52. Stella Cheang on Jul 21, 2016 at 10:31 am

This is truly a propitious news to learn that Gyara Rinpoche gave sogtae (life entrustment initiation) to tens of thousands of people in Sichuan. I am equally impressed to see for my first time a monastery by the name of Shugden Monastery, which is known as Yangting Dechen Ling.

This is a good boost of faith to people on the street as they can see for themselves that Dorje Shugden is a prominent practice that warrants a monastery of His own. Moreover, Shugden Monastery thrives and has produced many illustrious and eminent scholar-monks including H.E. Zemey Rinpoche, Venerable Geshe Tendar Rinpoche and H.H. Yongyal Rinpoche.

People of Sichuan are very lucky to be able to recieve Dorje Shugden sogtae, Lamrim teachings as well as the Guhyasamaja initiation by Gyara Rinpoche who is a fully qualified Geshe Lharampa. Because of his scholastic ranking, I believe his commentary on Dorje Shugden’s qualities and history as well as the background of the controversy will clear the doubts of people in Sichuan.

Thank you very much Rinpoche for his wonderful sharing.

    Humbly, bowing down,
    Stella Cheang

This is really really a great news that many people got the sogtae from such erudite lama Gyara Rinpoche. I truly rejoice for them. May this will soon happen to the people in Kechara Forest Retreat.

May an innumerable number of beings benefit from the Dorje Shugden practice, quickly.

Buddhism is one of the most ancient belief systems and is practiced today by nearly 350 million people around the world.
Bettany Mary Hughes is an English historian, author, and broadcaster, specialising in classical history. Bettany Hughes travelled to the seven wonders of the Buddhist world. Where she documented a unique insight into the seven wonders that explained the long and rich history of Buddhism 2500 years ago . Truly fascinating documentary that’s one should watch. Started off her journey with Bodh Gaya in India, the Bodanath Stupa in Nepal, the Temple of The Tooth in Sri Lanka, Wat Pho Temple in Thailand, Angkor Wat in Cambodia, the Giant Buddha in Hong Kong and the Hsi Lai Temple in the United States. At each location, she meets with Buddhist scholars who explain the different concepts that form the core of Buddhist philosophy, giving insight into the long and rich history of Buddhism. Interesting sharing.

Religious discrimination remains a significant issue globally, impacting various aspects of life. The Dorje Shugden controversy in Tibetan Buddhism involves accusations of religious discrimination against devotees of the Poweful Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. Dorje Shugden was a powerful Protector associated with the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. H H the Dalai Lama previously practice Dorje Shugden’s practice but somehow later discouraged the practice, citing concerns about sectarianism ,its perceived role as a spirit. Dorje Shugden’s practitioners have reported feeling ostracized and discriminated against by the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) and those supporting the Dalai Lama. The controversy has divided the Tibetan community and has been a source of contention and tension. CTA had breached the rights of every Dorje Shugden practitioners to what they pray . Many families are torn apart by this. Dorje Shugden people had to break away from their monasteries .Religious freedom and human rights are interconnected. Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion regardless of race and faith. Religious freedom is one of the most fundamental of human rights. The discrimination that Dorje Shugden practitioners are experiencing today has similarities to other historic bigotry and prejudices such example was the African American Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s,and the Women’s Suffrage Movement. Racism affects virtually every country in the world. It denies people their full human rights just because of their colour, race, ethnicity, descent or national origin. The most prevalent discrimination that we see today are national origin and race discrimination. May there be peace, unity, harmony and based on compassion, acceptance and universal freedom of religious choice without discrimination or recriminations of any kind.

The Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala, India is said to be thousands of years old, built in the Dravidian style, and houses more secrets than most people can ever dream of. That’s interesting. This temple is a legendary secret chamber that has remained unopened for centuries. Legends and local beliefs it is protected by powerful deities and a curse. The door is said to be sealed with a mystical spell, and it is believed that anyone attempting to open it without proper rituals will face grave consequences, having met with mysterious deaths or terrible misfortune. Locals had warns that attempting to open Vault B without proper rituals and respect for the deities could unleash untold calamities and misfortune. Stories abound of previous attempts to open the vault had failed that resulted in terrifying visions and other supernatural occurrences, and tragic fates for those involved. Some believe that the vault contained ancient treasures , wealth and divine relics . Previously temple workers reportedly tried to force open the door, resulting in the terrifying experiences described in legends. It’s not just a place of worship but also a vault of mysteries. Modern attempts using technology have also failed to open the door, as if some force is protecting it. Every attempt to open Vault B has failed. The door remains closed, and no one know of the contents within, whether wealth, divine relics, or something else entirely, are unknown to the world . No one dare to try opening it since at least the 1880s recording to reports. Interesting article .

Revisit this interesting truth where not many people knew the actual story behind . With great effort and research finally the story unfolded. In Tibet, Oracles play, an important part in principal roles assisting governmental decision-making and providing intelligence revelation, religion, doctrine, and prophecy. To this day the Tibetan government still believe and rely in Nechung Oracle. When Nechung oracle took trance, it is actually spirit Nyatrul who has causes problems and misprophecies. Nechung is bound by oath to protect the Dharma. Nechung prophecies are unreliable, most probably given by Nyatrul spirit to the Tibetan government. Such as wrong medication given to the 13 th Dalai Lama as prescribed by the Nechung Oracle. Another misprophecies was during the British invasion. If it was really Nechung who took trance of the Oracle, these types of misprophecies would not have happen. As mentioned in the 6th Dalai Lama biography, we cannot trust or rely on Nechung’s prophecies. It was said that Nyatrul not Nechung who created the problems and harm to Dorje Shugden . It must have told HH the Dalai Lama to ban Dorje Shugden .
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor Jean Ai for this interesting article.

In Tibetan Buddhism, water offerings, particularly the seven or eight bowls offering, are a common practice used to express gratitude, cultivate merit, and purify the mind. The seven bowls represent essential aspects of offerings and can be offered daily, along with other items like flowers, incense, and lamps. Water offerings are probably the most common offering made in Tibetan Buddhism. Offering any item of value to the three jewels is the antidote to greed and attachment and helps to cultivate generosity. It is a powerful practice that can help us develop positive qualities such as generosity, devotion, and selflessness. By making water offering, we are creating good karma for ourselves and all sentient beings in the future. Great explanations and teachings all about water offerings.

H.H. Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche (1878–1941), also known as Dechen Nyingpo Jampa Tenzin Trinlay Gyatso, was one of the great lamas of the twentieth century. was a highly influential teacher in Tibet and a prominent lama in the 20th century. He was the root guru of the present Dalai Lama’s tutors and many other Tibetan lamas who brought the Dharma to the West. His teachings, particularly his book “Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand,” are significant in the Gelugpa tradition until this days.He was the root guru of the present Dalai Lama’s tutors, Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, and a teacher to many other Gelug lamas who fled Tibet. He had brought the Dharma to the West after 1959. His teachings covered various aspects of the Tibetan Buddhist path, including the seven-point mind training and the stages of the path to enlightenment. Rinpoche’s teachings are so famous that thousands of people would come from far and wide to attend. He was an extraordinary master for the Heruka Body Mandala and the Vajrayogini practice. Wow ……one of the many famous stories been told of how Heruka actually appeared to Pabongka when he visited Cimburi in Tibet and how Heruka image spoke to him. Interesting biography of a great master of all times.

The practice of Sangha in Buddhism involves building and cultivating a supportive community of practitioners who engage in shared spiritual practice, often focusing on mindfulness and concentration. This community provides mutual support, guidance, and encouragement on the path of self-discovery. The Sangha is not just a gathering of people; it’s a collective energy of mindfulness and compassion that benefits all members. It provides a supportive environment for individuals on their spiritual journey, offering guidance, encouragement, and a sense of belonging. Sharing experiences and insights within the Sangha can accelerate the learning process.

Wat Rong Khun better known as the White Temple, is a Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai province, Thailand. The gold symbolizes how people focus on worldly desires and money. The white building represents the idea to make merit and to focus on the mind. It is owned by a succesful Thai businessman who opened it to visitors in 1997. Awesome….This temple stands out through the white colour and use of pieces of glass that sparkle in the sun. The white colour signifies the purity of Buddha while the glass symbolizes Buddha’s wisdom. Located 3 hour drive from Chiang Mai built to honour and pay tribute to sacred Buddhist figures. Over time, temples grew in prominence and is one of the famous temples to visit in Thailand. I have visited years back its simple stunning temple which truly love the design and architecture .

Sak Yant, a traditional Thai tattooing practice, involves sacred geometrical and animal designs. Its often accompanied by Pali phrases, and is believed to offer power, protection, charisma, and other benefits to the wearer. Sak Yant tattoos are deeply rooted in Buddhist and spiritual beliefs, with each design and symbol carrying specific meanings and purported powers. Many designs are believed to provide protection against evil spirits, misfortune, and danger. Sak Yant tattoos are traditionally applied by monks or masters using a needle and ink, and the process is often accompanied by chants and blessings. I personally have not seen one yet . Sound interesting.

With her visit hopefully more people will get to know more of our Kechara . She had made a video with and Pastor David Lai all about Buddhist Arts. She openly admitted interested in Buddhist art . Buddhist art pieces have given her home a contemporary edge. Art was important to Buddhist religious life. It was not only part of ritual and worship but also served to transmit religious ideas, and artistic styles between cultures. Do agree with her statement ,…..if you want to change your life, change the way you think, because everything begins with you.”

n their theoretical model, rudeness has this impact on our ability to think because it engenders negative sadness, anger. Researchers have found that common negative behaviours can spread easily and have significant consequences. The best way to avoid rude people is to meet their acts of rudeness with kindness. Exposure to neurotoxins in society is not new. Children today are raised in an environment that is much different from those days. Nowadays they are exposed to behaviours, profane language, hostilities and stress from which we adults, raised a generation ago. Studies have shown that children exposed to serious psychological trauma during childhood are at risk of suffering increased psychiatric disorders. Interesting read.

Revisit this blog again . Reading comments in this blog Rich people have substantial assets and income, providing a sense of security and freedom from financial worries. Owning high-end cars, designer clothing and everything they want with their money. Rich people often have more time for leisure, hobbies, and travel, allowing them to pursue interests and experiences. They may live in large, luxurious homes and have or apartments, often in desirable locations and having personalized services. The fundamental difference in mindset between the rich and the poor is, the rich have understood a very simple principle money makes money. Rich people see money as an opportunity, while poor people see it as something to be earned. Poor people work hard for their money. It is the heart that makes a man rich. He is rich according to what he is, not according to what he has. Not he who has much is rich, but he who gives much. The primary difference between rich people and poor people is how they handle their wealth. My thought been rich in this world it is not what we take up, but what we give up, that makes us rich.

Found this old post …disturbing. Having a name especially a Bar linked to Buddha to be disrespectful towards Buddhism. After much controversy the owner had it removed. The Buddha Bar located in Sabah by a young owner which opened without much thought had many people complaining. Later was forced to have its controversial name changed to ‘Peacock Garden’ and had apologised for the controversial name. As a devout Buddhist, the name ‘Buddha Bar’ which serves alcohol, is disrespectful to the revered Buddha.

Siberia, considered the heartland of shamanism inhabited by many different ethnic groups, and many of its peoples observe shamanistic. Many of the indigenous communities reclaiming their traditional spiritual and healing practices . Interesting. Siberian shamanism is often called Tengerism, involves various rituals, including drumming, chanting, trance states, and offerings to nature spirits and ancestors. This religious practice has deep roots in Siberia and Central Asia in recent years with roots in the Turkic and Mongolic cultures. Many who have been live in a remote part of Russia, have preserved their shamanic traditions due to their isolation. Many customs of Tengrism are still been practiced where they emphasizes a deep respect for nature and its various spirits, including those of the earth, water, and mountains. They do believe in the continued existence of souls and the importance of honouring their ancestors.
Thank you Rinpoche sharing this ancient religion.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
