I was 18 years old when this was taken back in 1983 in Los Angeles, California. Here I am in this photo with my most precious root guru, His Holiness Kyabje Zong Rinpoche. He has profoundly changed my life for the better forever. Not a day goes by I don’t think about him, love him, miss him and yearn for his presence and teachings. I meditate on him in my heart every single day. He was everything that a high Tibetan lama is said to be and more. From the moment I heard his name before meeting him from a friend who had met him already, faith instantly arose in me. Instantly faith arose in me. I did 100 prostrations to his picture everyday until I met him. I wanted to make a spiritual karmic connection with him so that when I met him, I can receive many teachings and that is why I made the prostrations. No other spiritual teacher although all of them were great has this sort of meteoric impact on me. It’s unexplainable. 30 plus years down the line, my faith, respect and trust in Kyabje Zong Rinpoche is unshakable. I will always follow and practice what he has taught me and given me. I will never abandon my teacher or any practice he has given me no matter what obstacles come my way. No matter if my life is threatened, or I am disliked or segregated for following his instructions, I will never abandon any of his teachings. No other teacher will ever have me change my practice I have received from Kyabje Zong Rinpoche. May I meet Kyabje Zong Rinpoche in all my future lives too and come under his care. I forever bow to him and place the crown of my unworthy head to his feet. I will follow, meditate, trust and believe in my guru always.

Venerable Lama Yeshe’s Cremation
This video shows the integral role that His Holiness Kyabje Zong Rinpoche played in the funeral of his close student, Venerable Lama Yeshe. Melodies of the Ensa Ear-Whispered Chod Lineage
At the request of Venerable Geshe Tsultim Gyeltsen in 1983 at Thubten Dhargye Ling in Los Angeles, USA, Kyabje Zong Rinpoche recited and taught the Ensa Ear-Whispered Chod practice from memory. These melodies are chanted according to prayers known as: Cutting through Self-grasping; Dedicating the Illusory Body as Ganachakra; and the Ganachakra Offering according to Chod practice. Zong Rinpoche chose to present the melodies of certain verses of these prayers and remarked that there may come a time when Chod melodies are taught according to this recording.

Tsem Rinpoche had only served Zong Rinpoche for 6 months, but his devotion for Zong Rinpoche only got stronger as time past by. These 6 months had made a very huge impact on Rinpoche’s life. Rinpoche was determined to become ordained and kept his promise to Zong Rinpoche.
Because of Zong Rinpoche, we had a great master like Tsem Rinpoche. Tsem Rinpoche used his whole life to give Dharma teachings to us. His own life experience told us no matter how much sufferings we are going through, we can turn the situation around and benefit others. From sufferings, we find our salvation.
Bad experiences can make us a better or a worse person, it is our choice. If we have been hurt, we should not wish the same for others. We should become a more positive person from our bad experiences and inspire people to do the same, just like how Rinpoche had inspired all of us.
Be loyal to your guru. Be close to your guru. Be honest with your guru. Never give your guru excuses but always accomplish your assignments that your guru has given you. Recently Beng Kooi and Martin on behalf of myself and Kechara was lucky to have audience with His Holiness Gaden Trisur Rinpoche Jetsun Lungrik Namgyal of Gaden Shartse Monastery. He lives in around Paris, France. His Holiness is 91 years old and very healthy and alert. He was the 101st throne holder for Tsongkapa and was the head of the Gelugpa school of Buddhism and was very successful during his tenure. He is a strong practitioner of both Sutra and Tantra of Je Tsongkapa’s tradition and a master of all Buddhist knowledge. He holds steadfast to his protector Dorje Shugden very strongly. So we can see even the highest throneholders who are masters of Sutra and Tantra also practices Dorje Shugden knowing the benefits.
Beng Kooi and Martin brought photo albums of Kechara Forest Retreat/Kechara and updates on Kechara and our works. His Holiness was very pleased to listen and offered some gifts back.

Rinpoche’s devotion to Zong Rinpoche is unparalleled and without fault. This is one of the qualities of enlightened beings, their flawless devotion to their teacher and lamas. May we also develop the same type of devotion towards His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche.
There is always a reason why we meet certain people. The one person who is truly important to us is the one who bring out the best in us. We are fortunate to have a Guru who gives us dharma and unconditional care so that we are able to transform our mind, liberate us from the endless sufferings of samsara. A genuine Guru is a rare and precious Jewel who we should hold it dearly. We must make a choice to take the chance or our life will never change. Thank you Rinpoche for this great teachings.

There is a saying that when a student is ready he will meet his/her teacher. I believe this have to be a karmic connection/affinity meeting the right guru and practising under him. Nothing in the world matters at all but meeting the right guru is the most important affair in one’s life. Meeting the guru whom we have karmic connection will lead us to develop and speed up our spiritual progress.
Rinpoche meeting a great Buddhist Master like His Holiness Khabje Zong Rinpoche is an indication of Rinpoche pristine samaya with his Guru of this stature.
