Relationship Compatibility for the Horse
Which Lunar Animal sign best suits the Horse, when it comes to relationships?
Relationship compatibility within the Chinese Zodiac mostly takes into account the general characteristics for each animal. However, every individual will place their own unique twist on the basic characteristics. That being said, it’s always fun to read about how well (or not well) you match with your partner!
Read on to learn the compatibility of the Horse with other Animal Lunar Signs.
HORSE PARTNER + RAT PARTNER: 29%
This couple might not agree with each other’s views and may lack the effort to work out the relationship. The Rat doesn’t like the Horse’s restlessness and unsteadiness; on the other hand, the Horse will be annoyed by the Rat’s petty quarrels. The Rat does not reveal his or her inner self easily while the Horse is very open.
The Rat is hardworking and affectionate, and enjoys the company and the closeness of family. The Horse, however needs physical and mental freedom. These two will find it difficult to see eye to eye because of their different personalities. The Horse sees the Rat as selfish and inconsiderate, while the Rat sees the Horse as possessive and unreasonable. Neither will find the other attractive to remain in a permanent relationship.
In order to try to make it work, the Rat needs to realise that the Horse’s need for freedom doesn’t mean that the Horse does not treasure the relationship. The Horse must also realise that a relationship is about two people and not just about what the Horse wants. Compromise and understanding are the keys to success.
HORSE PARTNER + OX PARTNER: 37%
This is a difficult couple as they are almost opposite. The Ox is methodical and wants a family while the Horse is carefree and finds it difficult to settle down. The Ox is down-to-earth, and cannot stand the Horse’s lack of attention to the Ox.
The Horse is outgoing and always filled with excitement, while the Ox is too organized and proper to share the Horse’s excitement. The Horse may have a great deal of respect for the Ox but feels the Ox is too rigid. On the other hand, the Ox feels an inability to depend on the Horse due to the Horse’s unpredictable moods and impulsive attitude.
The Horse, on the other hand, may find the Ox humorless and insufferable; the Ox will feel a need for someone more disciplined and responsible. While these two signs have very little in common, there is a little chance for a happy cohabitation if both realize their contrasting characteristics and accept each other as they are.
HORSE PARTNER + TIGER PARTNER: 86%
This is a couple that will enjoy a happy relationship. The Tiger partner is the stronger of the two and serves as the fuel to their relationship. Both are also equally sociable and enthusiastic. The Tiger appreciates the Horse’s spirit and the Horse enjoys the Tiger’s unpredictable and independent nature.
Both signs have similar characters and the animated, lively and passionate way they relate to life. The Tiger is attracted by his partner’s lively personality and the Horse is attracted to the Tiger’s vibrant and confident personality. They are active, sociable, and lovable. The Horse is capable of managing finances. Since they share the same view in life, they tend to be drawn to the same goals. They share a terrific sense of humor, and have much respect for each other and their way of life. Much closeness can be achieved in this marriage. The pairing of these two zodiac insures an exciting life together.
A Horse husband and Tiger wife are an ideal companionship, they behave in synchronization. The husband gives her a great sense of security. Together, they have an unbreakable tie that binds them together, everlasting.
A Tiger husband and a Horse wife are always eager to spend quality time together. He admires her creative wit, and his impulsive character does not bother her. They make good partners.
HORSE PARTNER + RABBIT PARTNER: 52%
This relationship will never work unless each partner gets adjusted to the other. Because the Rabbit is sensitive and conservative, while the Horse is fickle and hasty; both may find each other quite insufferable. He prefers solitude, while she is constantly on the go. The both of them are usually too self absorbed that they don’t take the time and effort to make the relationship work.
These two signs may not find harmony because of the differences in their personalities. Although the Rabbit can be affectionate and encouraging once the Horse reaffirms his dedication and capability to provide for the family, the Horse often gets annoyed to have the Rabbit place all the responsibility and hopes solely on him. Although the Horse will definitely perform well, the Rabbit cannot tolerate uncertainty and insecurity. This results in a discontented and unhappy relationship. For this relationship to work; the Rabbit must learn to be independent and the Horse needs to learn to focus on the relationship. If they can do this, the relationship is likely to work.
In a Rabbit husband and Horse wife relationship, it can be a very difficult pairing for them. He likes to stay home while she enjoys going out. Fights over money, women’s rights and other issues may likely split them up.
In a Rabbit wife and Horse husband relationship, there is a good chance for success. She will let him make decisions and be the perfect housewife. His confidence and liveliness helps her to release anxiety. They may fight over finances.
HORSE PARTNER + DRAGON PARTNER: 63%
The Dragon and the Horse have many similarities. They are both fun loving, adventurous and very social. The Dragon likes the Horse’s caring nature and strength while the Horse admires the Dragon’s passion and enthusiasm. The Horse is thrifty with money while the Dragon is resourceful in bringing in money, a trait the Horse admires and appreciates.
This couple will both lead a busy, wandering life as neither is domestic enough to stay at home. Life will be delightful if they both get to keep a job as well as manage their home. The relationship strengthens when both are provided with variety and freedom. The Dragon is always enthusiastic about taking on new exciting projects. Both the Horse and the Dragon fuel each other’s enterprising spirit. The Horse is rational when evaluating the risk they are taking. The Dragon’s powerful persuasion can deal with the Horse’s inconsistencies. They can have a great partnership if they can reach a common understanding.
HORSE PARTNER + SNAKE PARTNER: 78%
The Snake and Horse both live in different worlds and have a totally different personality, making this union not very satisfying for either of them. The Snake is cautious and has his view on long-term goals while the Horse cares more for momentary enjoyments. The Snake is often consistent with any endeavors, while the Horse is impulsive and inconsistent. Because of this, the Snake finds the Horse irresponsible and the Horse dislikes the Snake’s serious and calm nature.
Although both are mentally sharp and realistic, this union is unlikely. The Horse is temperamental and values freedom and variety while the Snake can be resistant to change and may resent the Horse’s rash and self centered personality. The Horse may find the Snake too determined and refined and the Snake may not think highly of the Horse. To make such a marriage work, both of them have to be very unselfish.
HORSE PARTNER + HORSE PARTNER: 70%
Both are attracted to each other very strongly. Both love adventure and are charmed by each other’s good looks. The fact that the two are identical makes teamwork and cooperation possible because they work at a similar rate. This enables them to be perfect partners, friends, and companions. They are both passionate but independent and restless, making life together very hectic with no guarantee where they will end up unless one is skillful enough to control the other.
They may not be able to have a solid family life as both get bored with routine and restrictions. One may feel overshadowed at times if the other gets more indulgences. If they can overcome these obstacles, they may have a joyful relationship.
HORSE PARTNER + SHEEP PARTNER: 82%
Both enjoy many of the same things and know how to spice things up for each other. The Sheep is homely while the Horse is adventurous. Both need to work out their differences in this area. The Horse demands space and the Sheep needs tender loving care. The Horse is easygoing with the Sheep bringing purpose and laughter to the Sheep’s life. The Horse is drawn by the Sheep’s charm and helplessness. The Sheep finds the romantic flair and self confidence of the Horse very attractive.
The Sheep having a kind-hearted nature compassionately overlooks the Horse’s selfishness and fluctuating moods. The Sheep will make adjustments to fit the Horse. The Sheep must learn to be less possessive and give the Horse more space to maneuver. They both appreciate each other very much and this could be a very happy relationship. They make good partners in love and in business.
HORSE PARTNER + MONKEY PARTNER: 31%
Adaptability and flexibility are the attributes of both partners. Both are also outgoing, independent and practical individuals who can work along with one another if they choose to because they both have swift minds and strong abilities. The advantage of this match is the very fact that they can coexist seeing the needs of a well-balanced relationship.
They are both adaptable and intelligent enough to leap over obstacles to success. While the Horse is practical and opportunistic, the Monkey can be deceitful. The Monkey is versatile and skillful and the Horse may annoy the Monkey with his temperamental traits. Neither have the patience to withstand each other’s differences. Hence, they will have to put away their self-centered personalities to strengthen their ties as a couple.
HORSE PARTNER + ROOSTER PARTNER: 58%
This is an absurd but sometimes functional arrangement. The Horse is amusing and skillful while the Rooster is serious and jealous. The Horse has the personality to dash off when bored leaving it up to the Rooster to clear up the mess, an attitude that is not tolerable by the Rooster. The Horse is too carefree to be annoyed by the Rooster’s outspoken and faultfinding attitude. The flamboyant nature of the Horse will not want to be tied down by the simple life the Rooster has planned. The Rooster wants to follow a straight road but the Horse wants to follow an adventurous path that is changeable and has no fixed plans.
One cannot understand the rationale of the other and when listening to conversations between them it will be clear that they are not on the same wave length. This marriage may only work if they are attracted to opposite personalities and find a special interest between each other.
HORSE PARTNER + DOG PARTNER: 92%
The Horse and the Dog will do very well together as long as they both have their own space. Both are lively and demonstrative people who may find real happiness in their union. The Dog likes peace and quiet while the Horse likes to go out and have fun. The Dog will pay attention to the Horse’s intuition and will be impressed by his intelligence and perceptive ways.
The Horse and the Dog give each other balance in their relationships. The Horse will encourage the Dog to step out of his comfort zone and engage in the social circle while the Dog will show the Horse that enjoyment can be found in the calm and peace of the home. The Horse loves the Dog’s sense of humor and logic. The Dog is loyal, honest and sincere and is realistic enough to understand and accept the Horse’s errors. As a result, the Horse will not take offense at the Dog’s straightforward manner. This can be a lasting and harmonious relationship.
HORSE PARTNER + PIG PARTNER: 75%
Nothing much can prevent this sociable, outgoing pair from having fun but both need to be aware that with so much pleasure-seeking taking place, neither may pay much attention to the future. The reliable Pig will be a good match for the imaginative Horse. The good-natured Pig is easily convinced by the persuasive Horse. The Pig is kind-hearted and enjoys social activities with the sporty Horse. The Pig craves for more closeness and affection, which is not readily given by the Horse. However, the Horse does appreciate the Pig’s integrity and loyalty.
The Pig and the Horse complement each other in a way where the Pig will stop the Horse from rushing into something without thinking while the Horse will encourage the Pig to seize opportunities at hand without thinking too much that they slip away. With mutual respect and understanding, there is plenty of room in this relationship for both partners to develop together and independently.

Hi how can the Snake and Horse make it work? And why is the percentage so high, when it’s just negative comments?
Hi Mac,
Welcome to tsemrinpoche.com. Whether or not a relationship will work out is not only based on signs, there are many factors involved.
I’ve read that once a snake has committed to a lifelong partner, he/she will become very protective, even possessive and jealous. The Horse, once committed to a lifelong partner will also be very loyal but it will take some time to get to that level of stability. They can always identify and agree upon areas in their relationship which need work and achieve the desired results in their relationship. Also, common goals and priorities can play an important part in whether or not the relationship works.
