Dear friends,

We all have up days and down days…also days that are neither. Whatever it is there are many people out there including ourselves that have had experiences that if shared can save us much woe. Woe is the one who doesn’t listen to the wise, the experienced and the learned. It is in their experiences we can better our own by bypassing methods that may not have worked which they shared with us. Also their experiences might be a short cut to incorporate into our lives a method for better results and faster. We are NEVER too old to learn.

Do go through these quotes leisurely. They really caught my eye, my heart and my mind. Some touched me deeply. I very much wish to share these with you. I do not own these but luckily they are all over the internet easily found. I thought to just compile them here.

Save the ones benefit you and please share with others. It might make a difference in their lives. That is my purpose, to make a positive difference.

Sometimes one line of wisdom would be enough to help someone let go of pain or escape their doldrums and even come up with a solution that was much needed. Solutions sometimes can be instant. Heavy hearts can become light again.

I wish you the best and by these words of wisdom compiled here from people of all backgrounds, may you have a better tomorrow.

Tsem Rinpoche

I like this one..WAIT FOR IT….it reminds me of samsara. You know what is coming. Or it so obvious and you don’t see it coming. Some just plain ignore what is coming. Some hope if they ignore it, it will go away. Either way you blindly go forth and eventually you get splattered. Recognize what is happening and never wait around quietly doing nothing. Change for the better. Don’t wait for the splatter and then disaster. Live your life for others, don’t waste your life for yourself. Tsem Rinpoche

This set of wisdom from Mother Teresa suits the religious, non-religous, and those of any religion. It really touches me. I have printed this out and laminated to pass to people. It really helps me so much. I keep one by my table to read daily. Tsem Rinpoche

    Dear Rinpoche,

I love all the quotes listed. Although Rinpoche has asked us to list out ten, may I humbly just provide two? I love these two at the moment.
Also if I were to frame one of it, I’ll pick the quote from Rinpoche. I love it! Thank you Rinpoche.

The quotes in this article is just awesome. So many of which we know and have felt that way before, but we never once did what the quote tells us to. All because that we are just too afraid to step out of our comfort zone or just unwilling to change.

Through the quotes it reminded us many things that we would miss out in our daily lives not knowingly. This article is a very good reminder for all the readers here.

  6. Joy on Mar 30, 2013 at 5:12 pm

“Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you.”
I think this quote stands out most to me which can be applied to ourselves as well the people we face.

Everyone needs some kind of attention, which is fair but to do it repeatedly just for attention and throwing tantrums or blame others if we don’t get the attention is we feel we deserve is exhausting for us and for others. When we seek advise and advice have been given, we should take it and apply it. If we don’t then why should we blame others for our bad situation when it is our very own doing that creates the circumstances we are in. He/She who can take advice is sometimes superior to him who can give it.

  7. Andrew Boon on Feb 1, 2013 at 1:31 am

WOW… thank you very much for such many pearls of wisdom in these short and concise phrases:

Which one was your favorite top ten?
This was really tough. I like most of them, however here are my choices for now:

    1.
Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle – Plato

    2.
Anger is quick and it passes but its effects are worse than earthquakes and its after-effects stay. Why create earthquakes when there’s none? – Tsem Tulku Rinpoche

    3.
Having courage does not mean that we are unafraid. Having courage and showing courage mean we face our fears. We are able to say, “I have fallen, but I will get up.” – Maya Angelou

    4.
When something bad happens you have three choices. You can either let it define you, let it destroy you, or you can let it strengthen you.

    5.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe habour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. – Mark Twain

    6.
I’d rather have an honest enemy than a fake friend.

    7.
The Simplest acts of kindness are by far more powerful ten a thousand heads bowing in prayer. – Mahatma Ghandi

    8.
    Final Analysis
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies. Succeed anyway.
If you are honest & sincere, people may deceive you. Be honest & sincere anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight. Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give them your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God; It never was between you and them anyway.
    – Mother Theresa

    9.
Remember, anyone can love you when the sun is shining.
In the storms is where you learn who truly cares for you.

    10.
Its too much work to be right all the time, let others win… – Tsem Tulku Rinpoche

Which one are you going to pass to friends?

It doesn’t really matter who you used to be, what matters is who you’ve become.

If you were to pick JUST ONE TO FRAME AND KEEP NEXT TO YOU, which one would it be?

    Final Analysis by Mother Theresa

  8. Paris on Jan 14, 2013 at 10:48 pm

I’d missed this post so it is serendipitous to have come across it again.

I love above all, this quote from Rinpoche, one that I came across within my first of meeting Rinpoche and which continues to strike a deep chord in my heart every time I read it. This one:

“Courage is not doing something in the absence of fear, but it is knowing that someone else is more important than fear. So we do it.”

I think I can safely say that I have lived almost my entire life being fearful – and in the end it becomes paralysing and nothing is accomplished anyway. For all the ups and downs there are, I think I let the “downs” rule my life more than the ups. I guess the point is that nothing really rules my life; I’ve made the choice to let it rule my life. I love these quotes for the fact that they don’t deny that there are ups and downs, just as Rinpoche says in his introductory paragraph, but that we have a choice to get sucked down by it, or to choose to let it become an experience of goodness that can later share with others to help them.

People with perfect “always-UP” lives (or seemingly perfect lives) don’t inspire as much as the people who have had more downs than up, but then eventually chose to go up and created the reasons for themselves to go up. I guess every moment can be an up or a down – even within a single day, or within a single hour. And courage is knowing that but going ahead to make that up choice anyway.

Very useful, i love this quote ” you have two two hands. one is help yourself, the second to help others” . Thanks Rinpoche.

    My favourite top ten are:

    1. Beauty catches the Attention, but Character catches the Heart…
    2. If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything…
    3. the 7 Lovely Logics.
    4. T choose…
5 ‘Before you act, listen…’ by Ernest Hemingway.
    6. ‘Death is so final and forever…’ by Rinpoche.
    7. The most beautiful people…’ by Elizabeth Kobler Ros.
    8. An open heart is like a lighthouse beacon …’ by Eternelle Flamme.

To me quotations 7 and 8 embodies my Lama. To quote,’The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat…These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity and an understanding of live that fills them with compassion, gentleness n deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen.’ Rinpoche must have vowed in his previous life to return to undergo sufferings to understand us with all our frailties. His open heart is also like a lighthouse beacon. It is felt n seen by everybody especially those experiencing the darkest night of the soul. However ,I’m at a dilemma between choosing Mother Teresa’s words of wisdom n Ghandi’s 7 Dangers to Human Virtue as my most favourite quote. I’ll choose Mother Teresa’s quote cos it teaches me to accept reality .I,ve to accept whatever comes to me n forget about my expectations for no matter what, at the end of the day ,we are answerable to our karma .To enhance Mother Teresa’s words of wisdom, I ‘d like to quote Rinpoche’s teaching,’Death is so final n forever. It is really the end at death…and only our karma dictates where we go.
Thank you Rinpoche for giving us your extensive collection of quotes so necessary to help us overcome our life’s problems n to inspire us,especially the young, to greater heights of achievements.

    With folded hands
    I bow to you.

Thank you Rinpoche for the sharing.True words of Wisdom transcend time and space.Mother Theresa’ quote was most profound to me as it was from a truly compassionate person who have gone through a lot experience in life. She was sharing with us how not to be Selfish with oneself.I would take some time to digest the rest and contemplate the essence of each of the Quotes.

Thank you for compiling all these meaningful quotes which are embedded dharma teachings in each of them. Why i say this is that each quote, got me to contemplate for a while and each has lessons to learn from there. Even though the quotes are from various people ranging from celebrities, philosophers, and even nobodies shows that Dharma is so applicable to everyone. It’ is due to its universal and logical application in everyday life,

  14. mayy on Jul 26, 2012 at 1:55 am

What stands out most for me is Mother Teresa’s quote of wisdom which I have it with me now. All the quotes are so meaningful and true till I couldn’t choose just ten! All the quotes are so relevant to us. Next few ones are…

    1. I chose to live by choice not by chance.
    2. The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.
    3. Let go of those who bring you down and surround yourself with those who bring out the best in you.
    4. We may have it all together…but together, we have it all.
    5. Honesty is the best gift you can give.
    6. Never assume, never expect just hope.
    7. Remember, anyone can love you when the sun is shining. In the storm is where you learn who truly cares for you.
    8. The first to help you are the ones who know how it feel to fall down.
    9. Just because something isn’t happening for you right now doesn’t mean that it will never happen.
    10. Anyone can give up, it’s the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that’s true strength.

Been reading this post for many days, spent some time to contemplate some of the picture. I really like this post, we can share to our facebook directly with powerful picture with message.

The top 10 quotes I like the most are:
    1. There’s always a little truth behind every “just kiding”; A little emotion behind every “I don’t know”; A little pain behind every “It’s okay”

    2. Dare to reach out your hand into the darkness, to pull another hand into the light.
I like the picture of the puppy hand touching the human hands. The quote is really good, we should not be afraid to ask people, “do you need help”, we might change others condition by just asking this.

    3. Only bear loads on your shoulders that need to be carried. Regret, pain, sorrow can bend even the strongest backs.
We should not bear the unnecessary emotion that affects our daily works as it will break whatever ability we have.

    4. No one has ever become poor by giving.

    5. Never trust someone who lies to you. Never lie to someone who trust you.

    6. Never reply when you are angry. Never make a promise when you are happy. Never make a decision when you are sad.

    7. Arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward, when life is dragging you back with difficulties, imagine that it’s going to launch you into something great 🙂
This quote is strengthening me. The staffs in Kechara House have been working very hard, but we will launch to something great.

    8. It always seems impossible until it’s done.

    9. If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.

    10. I’m not telling you, it’s going to be easy; I’m telling you it’s going to be worth it.

I hope everyone get inspired by any of the quotes here. Thank you Rinpoche!!

My favourite ten, in no particular order, are:

    1) Feed your faith, and your fears will starve to death
    2) It always seems impossible until it is done
    3) Mistakes are proof that you are trying
    4) You can’t reach for anything new if your hands are still full of yesterday’s junk
    5) Weak people revenge, strong people forgive, intelligent people ignore
    6) Character is how you treat those who can do nothing for you

    10) Mother Theresa’s quote!

I really like quotes that sum up how to live life, in just a few words. Advice for life, I guess, regardless of religion or culture. These are truly universal, and I could share any of them with my friends, especially “The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday”.

For myself tho, i would choose Mother Theresa’s quote – there is something in there for every situation, every problem, every choice. And thanks to Rinpoche, i have a copy of this quote on my office table already. Thank you Rinpoche!

I’ll be visiting this page often for a little bit of daily wisdom and inspiration 🙂

  26. Albert Ratchaga on Jul 25, 2012 at 1:44 am

Dear Rinpoche, thank you for sharing these quotes, it really make a lot of sense but we tend to forget and go back to own ourselves, reading this from time to time will be good for us, it is a consistent reminder for us, so that we can be a better person and be kinder.

There are quite a lot I like, but if were to choose the top 10, it will be below:

    1. There’s always a little truth behind every “just Kidding”, a little knowledge behind every “Idon’t know”, a little emotion behind every “I don’t care”, and a little pain behind every “it’s okay”.

    2. When something bad happens, you have 3 choices. You can let it define you, let it destroy you or you can let it strengthen you.

    3. Having courage does not mean that we are unafraid. Having courage and showing courage mean we face our fears. We are able to say, “I have fallen, but I will get up”.

    4. Anger is quick and it passes but its effects are worse than earthquakes and its after effect stay, why create earthquakes when there’s none?

    5. You have 2 hands. One to help yourself, the second to help others.

    6. An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. When life is dragging you back with difficulties, just imagine that it’s going to launch you into something great.

    7. Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me. Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful, that’s what matters to me.

    8. For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others, for the beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

    9. Problems are like washing machines, they twist us, spin us and knock us around, but in the end we come out cleaner, brighter and better than before.

    10. Trust doesn’t come with a refill. Once it’s gone, you probably won’t get it back, and if you do, it will never be the same! And that’s a fact.

I will share all these with friends as these are more common and everyone has the experience, so reflecting this to ourselves is the best way for us to realize. I will and I had shared some of these quotes to my friends.

4)Problems are like washing machines they twist us, spin us and
knock us around, but in the end we come out cleaner, brighter and
    better than before.
5)It you’re Absent during my struggle don’t expect to be Present
    during my success.
6)Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can
start today and make a new ending.
7)Sometimes the wrong choices bring us to the right places.
8)The longer you have to wait for something, the more you will
appreciate it when it finally arrives. The harder you have to
fight for something, the more priceless it will became once you
achieve it.And the more pain you have to endure on your journey,
the sweeter the arrival at your destination. All good thing are
worth waiting for and worth fighting for.

future and accepts you today the way you are.

Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can

I love all 99% of the quotes here and i can find one that inspires me everyday, thank you Rinpoche for sharing. However , today i feel that my favorite one is: ” surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you HIGHER! Life is already filled with those who want to bring you down.”
Well I guess, the world is full of energy suckers, who are such time wasters and this is a reality in life which we have to ACCEPT but we must realize that it is within our power and choice to change that.

  31. VICTOR PHANG on Jul 24, 2012 at 6:23 pm

All the quotes are very meaningful. I like this the most- “Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you” because I don’t like to waste time to explain any baseless accusation which “suck” my energy and time for nothing. I rather to use my energy and time for other meaningful activities.

I love all the quotes that Rinpoche had posted. Every of the quotes are simple yet wise, inspirational and are across all the boards of religion.
My favourite ones are from Mother Teresa, Kiran Shaikh, Debbie Kay, Gandhi and Tsem Tulku Rinpoche. One of my favourite books is If Not Now, When? . I have that on my coffee table in the living room, and each day before i leave the house, I would just turn to a page ( any page ) and read what the saying is, and i will carry and contemplate on that quote in my heart and in my mind the whole day as i go about doing my daily work. This is one of the most inspirational books ever!
Thank you Rinpoche for giving us all the profound teachings ( short and sweet ) at our finger tips.

  40. Lim Han Nee on Jul 21, 2012 at 1:14 pm

On Friday,20th July, a dear Dharma brother and fellow Kecharian lost his only daughter, who had drowned in the sea off Pulau Tioman. As he struggled to come to terms with this sudden end of his twenty year-old daughter and as I joined fellow Kecharians in pujas for her, my mind has been reverberating with thoughts of the many teachings of Rinpoche on Death, its finality and the uncertainty of its timing.

The following are two such memorable teachings of Rinpoche from this collection of mind-blowing nuggets of wisdom.

“Death is so final and forever. It’s really the end at death. No recourse at all. No talk, examination or discussion. When you’re gone, then, you’re gone”.

“I am right, I am wrong.
    Your way,my way.
    I don’t, I can’t, I won’t, I shan’t, I AM that way…
    I am, I am, I am….
With death so near, what does it matter??”

  41. justin cheah on Jul 21, 2012 at 12:44 am

I love this quote: “Knowing you need to make a change isn’t enough. You’ve got to find the guts to do it” by Robert Kiyosaki. Not that i do not like any of the other quotes kindly compiled together in this article. But i found Robert Kiyosaki’s quote hits me the most.

I totally agree with this quote. We just have to realise that by just reading the best and nicest quotes of the world, but by just reading it and not putting it into practice, it will just remain to be a quote and the efforts of the wise who kindly put it into nice graphics just to send the message through wasted.

  42. Datuk May on Jul 19, 2012 at 10:33 pm

All the quotes are so truthful about life and our interpretation of what we do with our lives. The ones that impact me the most are:

BE KIND, FOR EVERYONE YOU MEET ARE FIGHTING A HARD BATTLE. This quote brings to mind my observation of how many people look sad when they are sitting alone either on a train, car or on a bench in the park. Whenever, I see such sad faces, I feel that life is suffering. How profoundly real, the Buddha’s teaching is on the 4 noble truth.

IF YOU ARE DEPRESSED, YOU ARE LIVING IN THE PAST,
IF YOU ARE ANXIOUS, YOU ARE LIVING IN THE FUTURE,
IF YOU ARE AT PEACE, YOU ARE LIVING IN THE PRESENT.
So much wisdom, about the 3 time zones that we live by, but the truth of the matter is that we only live in the PRESENT moment of NOW. Lose this moment of now and we will not have a future as we lived the PRESENT in the past and we will continuously create the PAST, so there is no future.

Living in the PRESENT is a prelude to the future.

    I CHOOSE:
TO LOVE BY CHOICE AND NOT BY CHANCE…..
Another wisdom by which if we make choices, we will be at peace with most things.

Thank you Rinpoche for such beautiful quotes.

Others include such heartwarmers as –

“Be kind for everyone you meet is fighting a hard batttle”

” A Heart that reaches out with Love,
    Can Heal a Soul,
    And Change a Life”.

” A road to a friend’s house is never long”.

    “Happiness is like a butterfly;

    the majority is correct”.

    our TROUBLES”.

-Even though the future seems far away, it’s actually beginning right now.
-Nothing is permanent in this wicked world, not even our troubles.
-Pretending to be happy when you’re in pain is just an example of how strong you are as a person.
-Forget what hurt you in the past. But never forget what it taught you.
-Each new day is another chance to change your life.
-Sometimes you just have to pick yourself up and carry on.

    My favourite quotes are:

*Your beliefs don’t make you a better person, your behaviour does.

*The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday.

*Knowing you need to make a change isn’t enough. You’ve got to find the guts to do it.

*The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.

*Final Analysis: Do good anyway, by Mother Theresa.

*I would rather to have an honest enemy than a fake friend.

*Courage is not doing something in the absence of fear, but it is knowing that something else is more important than fear.

*No one has ever become poor by giving.

*Do what you feel in your heart to be right – for you’ll be criticized anyway.

*Anger is quick and it passes but its effects are worse than earthquake and its after-effects stay. Why create earthquakes when there’s none.

    *Difference between BOSS & LEADER.

*The minute you think of giving up,think of the reason why you held on so long.

*You can turn off the sun but I’m still gonna shine.

If I gonna to frame only one from this, it would be Do Good Anyway.

Thank you, Dear Rinpoche, will share with friends to spice up their days, to inspire them.

Today I read these quotes again to look strength, and I found I love this one as well, which is by Martin Luther King,

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

We always faced with challenges and tests, is easy to declare our stand at times of ease or with majority of people stand behind us or same stand with us; but not the time when we were in times of difficulties.

It’s easy to be graceful and elegance at times of ease, but times of difficulties and challenges make our true self revealed. It’s not a nice feeling to have known our weaknesses. But only then we have the opportunity to work on our weaknesses.

  49. Milly on Jul 18, 2012 at 3:42 pm

There are so many beautiful quotes. I would frame “7 Lovely Logics” as it relates to different situations/phases in our life. The picture with the man with no hands pushing the wheel barrow and the sweet little girl with no hands are very touching and teaches us on perseverance and accepting our karma. Thank you Rinpoche for compiling all these to share with us. It definitely took a lot of time to compile them.

    • Milly on Jul 20, 2012 at 2:53 am

      My other favorites are:
Mother Teresa’s words of wisdom and the last sentence “You see, in the final analysis, its between you and God, it never was between you and them anyway” – it can also mean between oneself and the karma we create in our positive action.

Mahatma Ghandi’s 7 Virtues to Human Virtue – short and very profound.

Nothing is permanent in this wicked world, not even our troubles – this teaches us about impermanence.

Steve Jobs quote – All the riches in the world we cannot take with us in our death. Its the good we do for others with no expectation of return and the merits we collect that we can take along with us at the time of death.

Integrity is doing the right thing when no one is watching – we shouldn’t pretend to show integrity only when surrounded by people. Real integrity is whether we are alone or with people, it is in us.

Change the way you think and you can change the world forever – its about mind transformation and in line with one of Rinpoche’s teachings that if we transform our mind, then everything around us changes and we don’t need to run away to the “caves” to be free of troubles.

There is no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs – Well, there is no short cut to success.

When a friend does something wrong, don’t forget all the things they did right – we must be appreciative and grateful for the good things they did and not point fingers and condemn when they do something wrong.

Its never too late to make a right turn – once we realize our weaknesses or mistakes, we can overcome our ego and choose to
go on the right path to make us become a better person.

I don’t have the top ten list.

For now, I will choose Rinpoche’s quote as the to be framed cos I want to remind myself to commit more and more in dharma. “You have tried it your way for so long without success, so commit to Buddha’s way. After all, are you happy with fear, self-hate, nowhere to go, inconclusive results, low self esteem, guilt and constant hiding as part of your life repertoire? There’s a way out – Dharma by Tsem Tulku Rinpoche.”

All the quotes shared by Rinpoche are so inspiring and beautiful. I will them with friends. For different people and situation, i will shared a quote related to it. Hope it help them.

If we love the quote, we need to apply it in our daily life. If not, then all these quotes are meaningless eventhough the quote is beautiful or very touching.

Thank you Rinpoche for the wonderful sharing.

I love all these quotes as they are very meaningful and inspirational. The first one that caught my attention is about integrity: “Integrity is a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures and principles, expectations and outcomes. It can be regarded as the opposite of hypocrisy.” In everything we
do we must have integrity and be consistent in whatever we do. “Integrity is doing something right when no one is watching.” We are the best judge of how we want to live our life either by being an honest person or a liar. “Never trust anyone who lies to you. Never lie to someone who trust you.” Once the trust is broken no one will ever trust us again if we lie and cheat. As the saying goes, honesty is the best policy. “Honesty is the best gift you can give.”

I like this quote on courage as fear was my biggest obstacle that I had to conquer: “Courage is not doing something in the absent of fear, but it is knowing that something else is more important than fear, so we do it.” To overcome the fear I had a choice, to choose how I want my life to be: ” I choose to live by choice, not by chance. I choose to make changes, not excuses. I choose to be motivated, not manipulated. I choose to be useful, not used. I choose to excel, not compete. I choose self esteem, not self pity. I choose to listen to my inner voice, not the random opinion of others.”

So know, I choose to live by choice and listen to my inner voice and not to live to impress others. “DO WHAT YOU FEEL IN YOUR HEART TO BE RIGHT – FOR YOU’LL BE CRITICIZED ANYWAY.” – Eleanore Roosevelt

Mother Theresa’s wisdom quote on the final analysis is like a condensed teachings of all these inspiring, mind blowing quotes. I will share it with my friends and print out to read daily.

Thank you, Rinpoche, for your time and effort in sharing this inspirational quotes with us.

    Dear Lama

The followings are my favorite top ten quotes. I chose them because they are they are they were the thoughts and reasonings that I went through in the past and still go through today. I chose them because I agree with them and these are the quotes that define who I am today.
    • IN THE FINAL ANALYSIS, IT IS BETWEEN YOU AND GOD; IT NEVER WAS BETWEEN YOU AND THEM ANYWAY – Mother Theresa
    • TWENTY YEARS FROM NOW, YOU WILL BE MORE DISSAPOINTED BY THE THINGS YOU DIDN’T DO THAN BY THE ONES YOU DID DO. – Mark Twain
    • COURAGE IS NOT DOING SOMETHING IN THE ABSENCE OF FEAR, BUT IT IS KNOWING THAT SOMETHING ELSE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN FEAR. SO WE DO IT – Tsem Tulku Rinpoche
    • NO ONE HAS EVER BECOME POOR BY GIVING – Anne Frank
    • THE ULTIMATE MEASURE OF A MAN IS NOT WHERE HE STANDS IN MOMENTS OF COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE. BUT WHERE HE STANDS AT TIMES OF CHALLENGE AND CONTROVERSY – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
    • LET OTHERS WIN WHETHER THEY’RE RIGHT OR WRONG. LET GO OF CONVENTIONS, RULES, PROJECTIONS, EXPECTATIONS. JUST BE AND DON’T LET ANY EXPERIENCE WHICH HAPPENS EVERY MOMENT BE ANOTHER FACTOR FOR US TO CREATE MORE UNHAPPINESS BECAUSE EVERYTHING FADES, JUST THE RESULTS REMAIN – Tsem Tulku Rinpoche
    • DO WHAT YOU FEEL IN YOUR HEART TO BE RIGHT – FOR YOU’LL BE CRITICIZED ANYWAY. – Eleanore Roosevelt
    • IT’S TOO MUCH WORK TO BE RIGHT ALL THE TIME, LET OTHERS WIN… – Tsem Tulku Rinpoche
    • THEY LAUGH AT ME BECAUSE I’M DIFFERENT; I LAUGHED AT THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL THE SAME.
    • I DON’T WANNA BE A NUGGET. I DON’T WANNA!!!

I am going to pass the following to my friends because they are easy to understand and simple. Not to mention that they are among my favorite quotes mentioned above.
    • I DON’T WANNA BE A NUGGET. I DON’T WANNA!!!
    • NO ONE HAS EVER BECOME POOR BY GIVING – Anne Frank
    • COURAGE IS NOT DOING SOMETHING IN THE ABSENCE OF FEAR, BUT IT IS KNOWING THAT SOMETHING ELSE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN FEAR. SO WE DO IT – Tsem Tulku Rinpoche

This is the quote that I would like to keep very much in the frame and keep next to me. Now, I know better than before that I cannot please everyone. When I do something, there are always those who agree or do not agree. I respect their reasons very much. However, at the end it is between me and my karma and I want to do things that I feel in my heart and conscience to be right. I do not want to live with regrets.

    • DO WHAT YOU FEEL IN YOUR HEART TO BE RIGHT – FOR YOU’LL BE CRITICIZED ANYWAY. – Eleanore Roosevelt

I like all the quotes. They can inspire us in our daily liife. Thanks so much to rinpoche for compiling all these beautiful quotes., just beautiful….

  57. pat on Jul 18, 2012 at 2:17 am

Most of the quotes are so meaningful & It’s so difficult to choose, can be a bit greedy and I will frame up a few as a reminder to help me think and ponder at times, but i will still choose this quote which is very meaningful..-“Trust doesn’t come with a refill.Once it’s gone, you probably won’t get it back & if you do,it will never be the same & That’s a fact”-…….it’s really very difficult to gain back a trust that is broken.Even if anyone forgive you they will only spare 1% trust in you again.

  58. Irene Lim on Jul 17, 2012 at 11:50 pm

There are a few quotes I like very much and some are just so funny and applicable in life. What stands out and full of wisdom is Rinpoche’s quote “COMPASSION IS REALISING THAT OTHERS WANT THE SAME THING WE DO. BUT WE ALSO REALISE THAT THEY ARE MORE AND EACH OF US ARE ONLY ONE, SO WORKING FOR THE MAJORITY IS CORRECT.”

IF one has this realisation and take upon oneself to work for the majority out there, we will only find happiness. This is what the Dalai Lama pointed out “it is selfishly the smart way”.

All the quotes are so right! I would read one a day and continue.

I love the 3rd quotes from Mother Teresa. Even though we have been treated negatively we should continue “to forgive, be kind, succeed, be honest, sincere, be happy, do good and give our best anyway”. Whatever we do for benefiting other and the action is truly for other not ourselves. At the end of the day we are answerable to our own action and let it be beneficial and generate great merits for more people to be benefited.

Thank you for these quotes of wisdom. Quotes are powerful teachings because they are direct and go straight to your heart. My favourites are: (1) Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle, (2)Respect people’s feelings…, (3) Nothing is permanent in this wicked world, not even our troubles, (4) Whether we believe in a next life or in heaven is not as important as how we treat others now, (5) When a friend does something wrong, don’t forget all the things they did right.

  64. Mei Fong on Jul 17, 2012 at 3:20 pm

There is definitely a quote above here to suit someone who is having a lousy day, a hard time or going through a difficult time in life. It sure did make my day when i read through those quotes above. Thank you Rinpoche. I hope the above quotes can help others as much as it has helped me.

  65. Uncle Eddie on Jul 17, 2012 at 12:42 pm

From the constant teachings of Rinpoche, we have always been taught that what makes us great human beings is not how much we can hurt people, but how much we can help others. Like Rinpoche said in this blog, “sometimes one line of wisdom would be enough to help someone to let go of pain, or escape their doldrums and even come up with a solution that was much needed”. So with these words of wisdom compiled by Rinpoche, if we can share with our relatives or friends would certainly be of great help and benefit to anyone to make their tomorrow a better one, in addition to ourselves. Thank you so very much Rinpoche!

There are so many interesting quotes here! The same quote, reading them at different time and different stage of life, shouts different meaning to me.

What I really like the the quotes from Mother Theresa and Ghandi. What they say has so much wisdom and transcend time and space…

  67. James Long on Jul 17, 2012 at 2:51 am

All the quotes and picture are so empowering. I like the quote from Mother Teresa : ” If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish motives. BE KIND ANYWAY”

We give so many reasons not to be good, and we fear of losing face and fear of failure, in the end we did not do much harm nor error but we too never shine or inspire others. Are we just to sit here and think, worry and let the time pass or we do something to change the situation we are not satisfied now? It is our choice.

    • James Long on Jul 26, 2012 at 2:56 am

The 10 quote that I like are:
      1. Quotes by Mother Teresa especially “If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish motives. BE KIND ANYWAY” and “What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight, BUILD ANYWAY.”

      2. If you are DEPRESSED,
you are living in the PAST
      If you are ANXIOUS,
you are living in the FUTURE
      IF you are at PEACE,
you are living in the PRESENT.

      3. When a friend did something wrong
Don’t forget all the things they did right.

      4. Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you.

      5. Dare to reach out your hand into the darkness, to pull another hand into the light.

      6. Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

      7. Remember, anyone can love you when the sun is shining. In the storm is where you learn who truly cares for you.

      8. Bad things are always going to happen in life. People will hurt you. But you can’t use that as an excuse to hurt someone back.

      9. The minute you think of giving up, think of the reason why you held on so long.

      10. It always seems impossible until it is DONE.

The one that I will choose to frame up and give to people is the quotes by Mother Teresa, which is so universal and true.

  71. Sheryl KH (JB) on Jul 16, 2012 at 11:34 pm

It takes quite a while to go through all these quotes. It must have taken Rinpoche quite some times to put all these quotes together. Thank you Rinpoche for your kind thoughts.

If I were to frame one quote and put it up next to me, I think I will pick this quote: ‘Arrow goes forward only after….’ Life is usually not smooth sailing, so this will be the quote that keeps reminding me that whatever that I go through at any given time will be something good for me in the future. It will help to energise me and give me hope during my down times.

Instead of having to read through articles that may run through many pages, these short and sweet quotes capture the essence of wisdom succinctly. And usually they come with beautiful pictures that go with the quote, which makes the whole quote very nice to look at.

Quotes look simple, but they contain a lot of wisdoms. Something short but yet sweet and straight to the point.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing these wonderful quotes. While scrolling and reading them I have sent out some to my friends and they loved it.

Life is tough. Sometimes we just need some short and simple words that give us some courage, a push and more strength to move up.

“Before you quit, try…” with the pretty little girl with no hands.

I believe she had tried many ways and failed many times. She did not give up and finally she found her way. She do not need the mindblowing wisdom to encourage her but she just did it by using what she has.

“Telling the truth and making someone cry is better than telling a lie and making someone smile”

“ WORK FOR A CAUSE NOT FOR APPLAUSE. LIVE LIFE TO EXPRESS NOT TO IMPRESS. DON’T STRIVE TO MAKE YOUR PRESNCE NOTICED JUST MAKE YOUR ABSENCE FELT.

“Respect people’s feeling even it does not mean anything to you, it could mean everything to them.”

LET OTHERS WIN WHETHER THEY’RE RIGHT OR WRONG. LET GO OF CONVENTIONS, RULES, PROJECTIONS, EXPECTATIONS, JUST BE AND DON’T LET ANY EXPERIENCE WHICH HAPPENS EVERY MOMENT BE ANOTHER FACTOR FOR US TO CREATE MORE UNHAPPINESS BECAUSE EVERYTHING FADES, JUST THE RESULTS REMAIN.

These are the main one. There are a few more which I have saved them in my mobile, so that I can read it when again and again. Will be very nice to share with Melissa and William together.

You used one of my photos in your blog, the Patience way and Bodhi way one. I took it when I was homeless. I spent so much time on that corner staring at that sign. It is a place that means a lot to me. Such a long story. I hope someday Rinpoche that I can tell you my story and you can help me understand why I just stood there all alone on that corner so many times. I feel so very touched that you would feel inspired by it, and put in your blog. Could you please tell me what you feel when you see that photo?

  76. joey wong on Jul 16, 2012 at 4:38 pm

Of all the quotes, this quote is what resonates with me the most:

“I like this one..WAIT FOR IT….it reminds me of samsara. Tsem Rinpoche”

I have lost count of how many times where in samsaric situations I had to make a decision that will lead to more pain and unhappiness and I just had to anyway because there just isnt a choice. There are so many things in samsara that we have to do but we know it will lead us to more suffering but we have to do it anyway because we are forced to. For example, we are told to get a partner and be satisfied with whoever we have as that is what will bring us happiness as defined by society, but what if we get an abusive spouse? wouldnt that be like hell? how can that bring us happiness? Another example is getting a child. So we make one because our families force us to, knowing that paying for the baby’s expenses would be really hard and painful. these are just some of the examples.

The picture and quote summarizes what I feel about samsara but in a humoros way. And I do want to stop this completely although i have been reducing those decisions by a lot.

  77. KH Ng on Jul 16, 2012 at 2:57 pm

As Mother Teresa said. “Do it anyway”. Also do the good and the best. Whatever happens. Also do it for others. Not what expect any good in return. That is mind blowing.

“Promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate”. This is what I would share because many people end up talking bad about others in order to make a point rather than expressing their love. This, I believe is a potent cause of religious wars or shall I say it is used by manipulative parties to ignite bigotry for selfish reasons._/\_

My lovely Guru really got my mind blewn away with all these SUPER quotes. Frankly, it is very tough to pick favourite ten. I tried to pick but these quotes are just too wonderful to leave out any of them. My super favourite will be Mother Teresa’s quote. In fact i have posted and shared this out at FB earlier on. This will be the one to frame and keep next to me.

Which one to pass to my friends? All of them ‘coz good things are meant to be shared. There is a Chinese saying, if you share sadness with your friends, your sadness will reduce half. If you share happiness with your friends, your happiness will double up up up!

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing these with all of us.
I feel the love you showered us. Rejoice _/\_
    Please take care:)

  83. DR on Jul 16, 2012 at 12:02 pm

It is very tough to pick as to which one I will share with friends and frame it up. Every quote has so much wisdom. I would pick the one by Gandhi on 7 Virtues to Human Danger. He is one of my heroes besides my Rinpoche and Mother Theresa. I pray everyday that I will develop some of their qualities.

It is not just a matter of reading these quotes and be inspired and leave it as that. We should aim to internalize it. We wont be able to transform old habits overnight but with effort over time and conviction grounded in reason, we can definitely achieve profound changes in our mental attitude.

There is so much of these powerful and mind blowing quotes. I always love quotes! Thank you Rinpoche for compiled all these quotes in a single post. It’s too much for me to digest it all in one shot, i will take my time to contemplate each of them.

    • Darren Kechara on Jul 25, 2012 at 3:19 pm

My Favorite top 10 quotes are
1)No one has ever become poor by giving.

2)Let others win whether they’re right or wrong.
Let go of conventions, rules,, projections, expectations.
JUST BE and don’t let any experience which happens
every moment be another factor for us to create more unhappiness
because everything fades, just the results remain.

3)A true apology has 3 parts:
      1.I am sorry.
      2.Its my fault.
      3.what can i do
TO MAKE IT RIGHT? Most of us miss the 3rd part! Just think
      about it…

      4)You have two hands.
      One is to help yourself,
      the second to help others.

      5)If you are DEPRESSED,
you are living in the PAST
      If you are ANXIOUS,
you are living in the FUTURE
      IF you are at PEACE,
you are living in the PRESENT.

6)Envy and jealousy are very harmful because,
you are never ever satisfied with what you have
and you never reflect on what you have.
You constantly live your life based on what
      you do not have.

7)Our prime purpose in this life is to help others.
And if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them.

8)When a friend did something wrong
Don’t forget all the things they did right.

      9)Five Simple Rules For Happiness:
      1.Free you heart from hatred.
      2.Free your mind from worries.
      3.Live simply.
      4.Give more.
      5.Expect less.

10)The minute you think of giving up,
think of the reason why u held on so long.

Quote number 10 is my current favorite for now as i keep remind myself when there times i felt like giving up and every time i think of the effort has putted in, the reasons for doing so and people who are involved.

The one I would share is Mother Theresa’s quote. The one that I like the best is the picture of the flying machine. One is a daily reminder of how to conduct ourselves, the other is to know that nothing is impossible.

  86. Doreen Teoh on Jul 16, 2012 at 10:46 am

Steve Jobs quote…” being the richest man in the cemetery does not matter to me…., and the one that I would want to frame is Mother Theresa’s quote.

    • Angel SH Ooi on Jul 24, 2012 at 1:19 am

      My favorite Top Ten are:

      I am right, I am wrong, your way, my way, I don’t, I can’t, I won’t, I shan’t, I’, that way…I am, I am, I am…. With death so near, what does it matter?

I’d rather have an honest enemy than a fake friend.

If we have been having arguments with our wife, we should stop thinking, “Why is my wife like that?” Maybe we should start thinking, “Why do I react to my wife like that?” and let go and change ourselves.

Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you.

Death is so final and forever. It’s really the end of death, no recourse at all. No talk, examination or discussion. It’s not ‘too late’ but over. When you’re gone, then you’re gone.

When something bad happens, you have three choices. You can either let it define you, let it destroy you or you can let it strengthen you.

A Heart that reaches out with love, can Heal a Soul, and change a life.

No one has ever become poor by giving.

It’s too much work to be right all the time, let others win.

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. When life is dragging you back with difficulties, just imagine that is’ going to launch you into something great.

The best that I like is:
A Heart that reaches out with love can Heal a soul, and change a life.

Dorje Shugden is a protector in Tibetan Buddhism, originally a minor protector in the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism. Later adopted by the Gelug school. Has been worshipped throughout history by several schools of Tibetan Buddhism. As a wrathful manifestation of Manjushri, the Wisdom Buddha, who grants wisdom, clarity, and concentration. A protector who fulfils wishes and prayers, brings material resources, healing, and protects from harm to those who sincerely rely on. Also helps us to clear obstacles, and attracts opportunities for success, growth and in many ways. Many practitioners have benefited ultimately for helping them stay on the spiritual path. Rely on Dorje Shugden consistently over times, we will see his graceful yet powerful assistance in our lives. The prayers is indeed very powerful and have me change my life.
Thank you Rinpoche for this simplified daily prayer. Easy and convenient for everyone.

The art and science of asking questions is the source of all knowledge. Part of being successful is about asking questions and listening to the answers. Asking questions is the first way to begin change. Knowledge shared is knowledge squared. A great way to learn by reading and asking various enlightened aspects of Tsongkapa. I am still learning even I have revisit this blog on and off. Still trying to remember names of great lamas.
Thank you Rinpoche for this post.

Thangka serve as important teaching tools depicting the life of the Buddha, various influential lamas and other deities and bodhisattvas. Thangkas have also traditionally been used as a teaching tool. Tsem Rinpoche received a precious and beautiful gift of Vajrayogini from Ms. Wahyu. She have taken months and did researched and painted it beautifully. Looking at it is a blessing.

Born in 1905 in the village of Nangsang in the Kham province of eastern Tibet HH Kyabje Zong Rinpoche was a master of philosophical debate. He was a powerful Tantric practitioner, well known throughout the three great Gelug monasteries of central Tibet. Wow in an early stage of his childhood he performed various magical miracles such as able to invoke a female naga goddess in a nearby lake. A master of sutra and tantra, H H Kyabje Zong Rinpoche had performed countless holy deeds and gave thousands of Dharma teachings during his lifetime. A biography of a great Master who possessed an extraordinary memory and was renowned for healing activities. Zong Rinpoche was the Guru of many great masters. Interesting read of all the miraculous stories of Kyabje Zong Rinpoche.

All thanks to our Guru that we are given a chance to get connected to the Sublime Queen, Vajra Yogini and collect merits along the way. The idea of making real gold-paint offerings to Vajra Yogini in KFR is indeed awesome for everyone. In Buddhism, symbolic offerings are made to the Triple Gem, giving rise to contemplative gratitude and inspiration. Making offerings to the Buddhas are acts of generosity and therefore highly meritorious.

ndia is a land of diverse cultures, traditions, and spiritual practices. They allow religious freedom among its most enigmatic and intriguing spiritual sects are the Aghoris, a group of ascetics who are often surrounded by mystery, fear, and fascination. But the Tibetan leadership creates religious differences leading to discrimination, violence, hatred and bias against Shugden practitioners. Everyone has their rights to choose and practice whatever they want. The ban of Dorje Shugden is therefore unnecessary and illogical . In recent years religious freedom has improves.
Interesting blog of a sect of ascetic sadhus who practice a unique and extreme form of Hinduism. They are the only surviving sect of the Kapalika tradition, a Tantric form of Shaivism originated in Medieval India. The Aghoris are a fascinating and mysterious group of Hindu ascetics, who have a distinct and radical approach to spirituality. They are known for their bizarre and unconventional rituals. They live in cremation grounds, smearing ashes on their bodies, using human skulls as utensils, and eating flesh from human corpses. Aghoris are Hindu devotees of Shiva the god of destruction and transformation, and they seek to attain liberation from the endless cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. They see themselves as healers, both of the body and the soul. Many believe that their intense penance and devotion give them extraordinary powers. They engage in practices that challenge conventional ideas of purity, such as meditating in cremation grounds, consuming what others deem inedible, and embracing what society often shuns.
Thank you Rinpoche for this interesting sharing.

Saying thank you and showing our gratitude with a handwritten message can make all the difference in our life.At times, when our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has reason to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us. None of us who achieves success without the help of others. The wise and confident acknowledge is this help with gratitude. Let us rise up and be thankful. Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul. Its gratitude that helps us to grow and expand . And also gratitude brings joy and laughter into our life and into the lives of all those around us. Spiritually it unlocks the fullness of life and turning what we have into enough in life.

Wangze is one of Dorje Shugden’s emanations and is the most powerful deity to propitiate in order to assist us when we are facing difficult situations with difficult people and positive influence on others. Wangze’s practice can cultivate energies of power, influence, and the ability to positively influence others. Practising this practice with knowledge and understanding we may gain a firm footing on the spiritual path bringing benefit to their lives.

H H the Dalai Lama is considered as the incarnation of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, therefore is a highly realized and attained being. Dalai Lama has been worshipping Dorje Shugden for decades, consulted his oracles, and even composed prayers for Dorje Shugden. Until 1966 suddenly, Dalai Lama imposed the ban on Dorje Shugden , saying Dorje Shugden is not good. Many incarnation have been returning again and again. Dorje Shugden’s practice does not send us to the three lower realms. Prayers composed by H.H the 14th Dalai Lama at Dungkar Monastery of Domo Geshe Rinpoche tells all and had proven it. Dalai Lama can not be wrong for some one who has the clairvoyance to see whether Dorje Shugden is good or evil. Even the 5th Dalai Lama composed prayers, and also made a statue of Dorje Shugden.
Reading this over and over as it good to know and understand better. May more people get to read this truth.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

Since those days in school , I have heard of these Bermuda Triangle. Will get exicted hearing interesting stories of the mysteries of these area. The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil’s Triangle, is a region between Florida, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico in the North Atlantic Ocean. Over the past several centuries, more than 50 ships and 20 planes have disappeared in the area. Recording to some researchers that a parallel universe exists in the Bermuda Triangle region, causing a time or space warp that sucks the objects around it into a parallel universe. Interesting. The Bermuda Triangle, known for its mysterious disappearances. In recent years there have been several incidents in the Bermuda Triangle that have captured media attention. Interesting, ships and airplanes that seemed to have disappeared without a trace which has earned it the name ‘Devil’s Triangle. Since then nothing extraordinary has happened in the last 60 years. Some had mentioned that there are large deep ocean craters on the sea floor of the Bermuda Triangle. Could it be possible no one knows but there’s also others theory as well. Scientists still cannot solved these mysteries disappearance, were there the existing of aliens or something else.
Thank you Rinpoche and Cindy Hew for this great sharing.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

Find one of the most beautiful temples in the world in Nara, Japan. It is the 1,267 year old Todai-ji temple that houses a 15 meter Buddha Vairocana statue who is a cosmic and timeless Buddha. Emperor Shomu who sponsored this beautiful temple eventually abdicated and ordained as a Buddhist monk. Very interesting history and story. 7 years ago
What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
