Moon, Mountains & hope..
I love the moon coming through the night clouds silhouetted by the mountains. It reminds me that although our lives are sometimes dark and full of apprehension, somehow we will be blessed if we believe and don’t lose hope… a light will come through. Not everything is permanent and things can change. We can make that change. Never be a victim and just make yourself stuck. Do something positive and stick with it..over time things do change!! What do you have to lose…better to hope and try then just accept defeat. Later when we look back, we will be glad we did something.

There’s time when I feel like I’m running around like headless chicken.
Thanks to Rinpoche’s blog and short sharing like this, I feel there’s hope. It’s hope that propels us to take few steps forward. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing Rinpoche’s honest feelings here. I’m glad that you have written your feelings here so that we can often visit for a boost of inspiration.
Despite all of the darkness, there is always a light and hope for us to walk through however far we will make it. Let the light of hope always enlighten our soul. We are all like ocean, spreading thousands of miles away and there is just one lighthouse, the only lighthouse. We are the fortunate ones who get to see it. The light will always conquer the darkness. Seeing the light in the darkness is after we stepped outside our comfort zone that we begin to change, grow, and transforming.
Thank you Rinpoche for showing us the way.
Life by nature is always full of apprehensions, and depending on our Karmas, can be like a sky overcast with dark clouds. Life is always full of sufferings.Hope gives us courage to stand when we fall. The up and down we experienced will made us stronger.
We must stay positive and thinks positive to be happy and infuse our life with action. As long as we are breathing we can do something. Have hope and make the change. Thank you for showing us the way!
There is always light despite all the darkness, we can see and hope in whatever . There was never a problem that could defeat our hope. We must accept disappointment in life, but never lose infinite hope. Hope gives us courage to stand when we fall. The up and down we experienced will made us stronger. Just believe in hope, optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. We must stay positive and thinks positive to be happy and infuse our life with action.
Thank you Rinpoche for these teaching.
Thank you Rinpoche for this wonderful motivation! I have been feeling unmotivated and lost, and don’t know what i’m doing anymore and what i should do from here. I know if we keep thinking positively we can move mountains. Hope i can see the moon and stars shining brightly again.???
Human being is a resilient species. Our instinct for self preservation is strong. I know that there are people who felt they lost all hopes and driven to depression and suicides. Depression and suicides are just as real as people who survived the horror of war, famine and natural, economical or social disasters.
As long as we are still breathing there is still hope. As long as we are breathing, the law of impermanence is in play. Both good things and bad things will pass. No matter how bad situations are, there is the possibility it will end. No matter how good and secured things may seems, that too can end.
As long as we are breathing we can do something. Have hope and make the change.
Just 2 night ago I was looking at the moon and it was a full moon. Around it there was a red ring. Apparently it’s not a good sign according to the movie Practical Magic (about witches). They call it blood around the moon.
The moon may denote some kind of sadness and more towards the negative side … but what makes the moon shine is the light. And the next day/future can be bright. During the times I was feeling down, the only thing that kept me going for a positive mind. I relate to this post very much.
A silhouette of a bright moon, seeping silently through clear clouds behind mountains always depict sceneries of peace, tranquility and joy. But in real life it is not what our illusioned mind always depict. Life by nature is always full of apprehensions, and depending on our Karmas, can be like a sky overcast with dark clouds. Life is always full of sufferings. With a correct attitude, we must recognise that our sufferings are surely the effect of our past karmic creations, and must undergo them to “work-off” the effects of our past non-virtuous actions. Of course it is possible for us to clear away these poisoned clouds, if we excert ourselves with great efforts and deep devotion to the instructions of our wisdomised Guru. Like our guru said, “What do you have to lose…..better to hope and try, then just to accept defeat.” Thank you Rinpoche for showing us the way!
Thank you Rinpoche for this teaching, many people including myself sometimes get stuck. And think there is no way out. But as you say everything is impermanent.
I’ve always liked what you said in Gurus for Hire, if you fall down, you don’t stay down you get up and start again 🙂
Thank you for the teaching, Rinpoche.
When we were in the US, on some nights the moon would be very beautiful – big and bright, illuminating the entire night skyline. After awhile, it would be covered by the clouds, and then the night sky dims again. Reminds me a little of the clouds being obstacles, covering the light (moonlight) from shining through. If we persevere, the clouds can move on, and the light shines again.
Definitely the better of the two – to always try and clear those clouds, because they are bound to clear sometime. The wind (external force) may help to a certain extent, but it is always better to try and make things better.
A friend sent me a quote, and I found it to be very apt to share on this blogpost:
“That knowing is better than wondering. That waking is better than sleeping. And that even the biggest failure -even the worst and most entrapping mistake beats the hell of never trying”
Thank you for the teaching..
I’ve never equated the word victim as being stuck. I guess a lot of us are victims to our own habituations. When we don’t change them, we get stuck. Lifetime after lifetime, getting stuck deeper and deeper like drowning in quicksand. Rinpoche, you’ve thrown us a rope to pull ourselves out, but yet we don’t even hold on to it…..
Thank you Rinpochela, for the moon; for BEING THE MOON to so many people; through your blessing, encouragement, precious teachings – so tirelessly doing your BLOG and so so so much more! So that we all have a moon (in Rinpochela) to look up to in our dark nights! May Rinpochela continue to shine evermore, “…With graceful beauty of a hundred-thousand-fold autumn moons…”
Dear Tsem Tulku Rinpoche !!!
Thank you for posting this nice picture and thought. It reminded me of a picture of the moon I took many years ago in South India, in Bandipur National Park :

The moon shines through the cross made by the branches of a tree. This scene always reminds me of the Western symbol of the Rose blooming at the center of the cross, spirituality blooming in the midst of matter.
As the cross can also be seen as representing the sun, I also see it as the “moon” behind the sun, the openness which allows the sun to shine. It evokes the polarity of Yin and Yang in the process of manifestation … or of returning “home”.
I hope it will also inspire you !!!
A lot good inspirations and of good energies for your Dharma work !!!

Dear Rinpoche,
Thank you so much for putting this message up when I needed it most. I was so discouraged last night from the pain and felt like giving up hope. This morning, when I was feeling down, I came across this message on your blog and felt as if though I found an oasis in a large desert. I wanted to thank Rinpoche so much from the bottom of my heart for trying to give all of us hope and show us an example of what it means never to give up. You are a great example of what being selfless is and trying to benefit as much sentient beings as possible. Once again, Thank you so much Rinpoche!!! May you live long, be healthy and continue to turn the Wheel of Dharma in the 10 directions. I wish to visit Kechara soon!
Best Wishes,
Jaruwan
Thank you Rinpoche for this message. Yes, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. In days of desperation, we are fortunate to have a Guru who is always watching over us. With this in mind, we know that all will be ok. We understand that this is not permanent and brighter days will shine forth. Now is the time to dig deep into our dharma practice.
Rinpoche you are a real inspiration not only to me but to lots of people out there who may need words to inspire them to change their negative thinking into positive thinking. And find hope for themselves when they thought they had lost all hopes in their individuals problems. You take your time to contemnplate on how to help your students by creating inspirational words and guiding them with advice on what you see. When I type my comment on this blog. I cried I don’t know why but after that I felt so much better. Maybe I have released a lot of my tensions. Thank you Rinpoche for this blog.
