Meaningful quotes tells us more , reading and understanding it gives us some useful leaning from basic. We don’t take anything personally of what others say and do is just is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. If we want to be happy, do not dwell in the past, do not worry about the future, focus on living fully and meaningfully in the present. Our time is limited and precious, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing these beautiful and meaningful quotes about projections. I always love Rinpoche’s quotes and search for old tweets to repost. Hope Rinpoche will share more wisdom quotes on social media to benefit everyone ????
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing all these great quotes on projections. it gives us a better understanding and serve as a good reminder to me on all my wrong projections.
I like this quote “When we fight projections with love, we will win wisdom”. When our motivation is based on good intention and compassion, things will turn to be positive.
May we be able to transform our mind for better and remove the negative projections.
I like this post, gives a bit of solace from a bit of understanding. How amazing must a wisdom mind be to discern every little flaw that gives us a lot of grief! Thanks a ton to Rinpoche for this post. I appreciate it very much and will keep coming back. My favourite quote is this, ”Dear bestie friend Projections, you wouldn’t fool me, would you? My new friend wisdom says you’ve been deceiving me.” Ain’t that a samsaric being’s sad story?
Dear Rinpoche,
Recently I’ve experience the changes of my mindset that could change my life from now on. I take this practice, when things happen, understand why they do, without judgement and accept the as they are. We shouldn’t apply any filter to project that they become good or bad, beautiful or ugly. And this will causes anger, frustration & sadness. When we stop projecting things as good or bad, we are no longer burdened by the emotions and we can live lighter & freer. Letting go means stop projecting. Thank you Rinpoche…
Really like this one” “Dear bestie friend Projections, you wouldn’t fool me would you? My new friend Wisdom says you’ve been deceiving me.” Hope to rid as many of this bestie friend Projections as possible! I am lucky enough to come across the Dharma and Rinpoche that actually shares with me, tells me, shows me my ugly projections which has caused me so much suffering.
I like what Gordon worte which I agree… “it invokes more negative emotion and create more karmic suffering.Get rid of projection should start from within instead of hoping others changes as per ego wish.”
Thanks you Rinpoche for this knowledgeable sharing, it’s like a little reminder of life to me, it helps me a lot on dealing with my negative emotion that might leads to unfavorable conflicts.
Thank you Rinpoche for the sharing.Projections are the biggest deterrence for us to find our true existence within our self .We should practice mindfulness in order to steer our thoughts inwards to find our true self.Easier said then done .But every effort we put in to realise our fault .Gives us a chance to be closer to the cause of our true existence.
May I be blessed with the strength to tame my projections and obtain true mind transformation.
What are projections? In the dictionary it says “an estimate or forecast of a future situation or trend based on a study of present ones”.”Psychological projection” is a theory in psychology in which humans defend themselves against unpleasant impulses by denying their existence in themselves, while attributing them to others. For example, a person who is rude may constantly accuse other people of being rude.According to some research, the projection of one’s negative qualities onto others is a common process in everyday life.
Wow ! That’s scary. Everyday we are blaming others for our situations instead of taking responsibility for them.
No wonder Rinpoche said that :-
Fighting projections is the singular biggest battle we can have in our lives that is constant. ~ Tsem Rinpoche
Thank you Rinpoche for ALL your straightforward and profound quotes !
Thanks for Rinpoche’s sharing. I like the quote “control your anger because it’s only one letter away from Danger”.We always misleading by our projection and easily get angry if out of the expectation. We need to practice Manjushri to gain wisdom to look through all the projections and illusions.
Perceptions came from our past life, childhood time, growing period as well as yesterday. When I can live my life without projections, that will be the day i gain independent. I will be free of sufferings because nothing will bother me anymore. I will gain happiness because wisdom take charge.
I like Rinpoche’s quote “When projections are seen as sound coming from nowhere and dissipating to nowhere, we will progress.”
Our feeling of good, bad or neutral emotions have no labels, they are our projections based on our karmic habituations or experiences in the past. Be it positive or negative projections, it is not possible to just hold on to the positive and reject the negative. It is the nature of all phenomena which is impermanence, when happiness end then suffering begin and vice versa. Therefore, grasping on our projections & thinking that it will not change will make us suffer. We can feel & perceive of that feelings but as long as we don’t hold on to it then we will not suffer from it. All the experiences that we had regardless of good or bad, just let it arise & passed because it only last for a moment.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing these quotes which are simple & yet very profound.
Our own projections arise from our past good and bad experiences hence karma, how these experiences etched in our minds in many lifetimes that trick us into thinking we are correct in our behavior, speech, thoughts and actions. Our upbringing, the environment we grew up in, the parents, society and friends had a part in this projection “play” in our minds.
If we can wake up one day to realize these, via discovering and learning How to Undo these “unhealthy” mind projections, then we may have a chance to see the light at the end of our tunnel.
Discovering dharma, learning and experiencing the “living” dharma is ever present in Buddhist centre like Kechara with a qualified Guru who loves us unconditionally guiding us through this path to seek our “enlightenment” to the truth.
I am ever thankful and grateful to His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche, our Guru who is very patient and compassionate to us for us to rediscover and learn what we have lost, that is our True self.
Thank you Rinpoche for this ‘rain’ of Dharma teachings on Projections, our worst enemy. We go all the way with our projections and become one with our projections, all because of Ignorance. The antidote for Ignorance is Wisdom. “Wisdom depends on merits which depend on dharma practice. Without it there is no hope”.Hence, it’s dharma practice all the way, with pure motivations, that will drive out our illusory projections that create our sufferings and our samsara.
As the Guru said in his teachings, “Wisdom depends on merits which depends on Dharma practices.” May we be blessed to enjoy and to absorb abundance of Dharma, so as to perfect the qualities of our path to counter samsara and all its delusive projections. May all conducive conditions blaze forever, and may all holy teachers have long lives to remain in this World until end of existence to benefit all beings! Om mani padme Hung.
Dear Rinpoche,
Yes, it is very important to understand projections better.
Projections are so easily used to cover what we don’t want to see, admit ot change about ourselves.
“It is better to fight & battle our projections daily rather than those around us.” Tsem Rinpoche
Thank you Rinpoche
Dear Rinpoche,
I read this post 3 times and I end up laughing not at the quotes and teachings but at myself on the way I had lived my life, and realising how ignorant I am and how unsettled I had been before the terrific year of 2007 when I went to the first Dharma teaching by Rinpoche at Kechara House. My moment of awakening!!!!!
Since meeting Rinpoche, the past 7 years had been a roller coaster ride for me both externally and internally and whatever emotions I had been through, I held on strongly to finding the ”missing link” to internal peace. I wish to express my deepest gratitude to you, my kind Guru for showing me the way. I have not reached my destination of PEACE but am much better off today than the last long years of my life.
Throughout my life I have lived in my past experiences (sadly only remembering the bad ones) and have built a great wall of projections around me and what was seen of me was my projections and righteousness in not accepting anything being different. I had lived in anger, disappointments and sadness. Success in the material world worked towards distrust of all things unknown and my operational skills became my emotions. I was probably living like a robot.
This 7 years of my spiritual journey had been tough but as I progress I feel a lot at ease with life in totality, whatever I have felt and disliked were the effects of pulling me out of my ignorance of who I really am. The Peace within is in me but it is getting rid of my projections that I will then be able to settle into being at Peace.
The most attractive quote to me is “Our projections are so simple, yet we make them out to be a matter of life and death”. This makes me analyse my projections, understand their unimportance and move on.
Thank you, my kind Guru for having showered me with so much love to overcome my projections and to win in life. With my deepest appreciation.
Dear Rinpoche thank you for sharing all these quotes , I think to help to get rid of all the projection we have we really need to contemplate on death because it really help to reduce all our ego and anger I love all these quotes it short and with a lot of meaning on it .
This blog is so amazing, this blog is freeing me from all this past life behavior I have been creating to myself! Infinite gratitude for all your precious infinite help!
Good Day Guru Rinpoche,
Without knowing you, l don’t have a chance to learn so many things in this days.
l am taking my step by step to improve myself.
Dear Rinpoche,
Thank you for so many lovely quotes on projections.
I thought this quote is somewhat reflective of today’s mentality in society:
Dear bestie friend Projections, you wouldn’t fool me would you? My new friend Wisdom says you’ve been deceiving me.
Haha…
Thank you.
Projection is the weapon that kill others and cause us harm. It drifts us apart from enlightenment and get us indulge in samsara. It makes friends enemies and enemies become “friends”. Having projection and reinforcing it trap us in samsara and endless lifetimes of guarantee sufferings. Projection is the culprit that stopped us from living the purpose of our lives.
I guess attained Beings who have found wisdom through their spiritual practices have conquered their ego; they have practiced compassion and have compassion in them, and they have eliminated projections. Hence they end sufferings after being awakened. But attained Beings were once ordinary beings, like me. Thus I have to understand my projections and fears, and practice, and practice, so as to progress on the spiritual path to achieve what those great Beings had. And these teachings by Rinpoche are great vehicles for my spiritual journey. Thank you, Rinpoche.
Thanks Rinpoche for all the powerful quotes, i need to read and read again and again to keep on remind myself.
May i able to connect Lord Manjushri daily to get His blessing that help to lesser down my ignorance.
May we all, all beings, have happiness and it’s causes.
Thank you Rinpoche, always setting our minds
in correct motion with generosity and Dharma.
May we all have the courage you demonstrate.
The courage to persevere and trust and succeed.
With deepest respect,
Oya
Thanks for profound sharing.
I love these tweets very much. These are simple yet direct quotes that ease me to remember and serve as daily reminder. Personal thought on projections: mainly come from accumulated past samsara experiences, lack of wisdom, unwillingness to accept fact happened, wrong worldly view and hence lead to label and conditioning surrounding persons. If constantly rely on projection, it invokes more negative emotion and create more karmic suffering. Echo Rinpoche quotes: “I cannot fit your projections, nor you to mine-Solution: rid the projections and not the person”. Get rid of projection should start from within instead of hoping others changes as per ego wish.
Gordon, I like what you wrote very much. I am glad these quotes help you. Samsara is always within us and Dharma teachings on projections is powerful to counter this. Much good wishes, Tsem Rinpoche
Thank you Rinpoche for the sharing
Feelings arise from the senses which arises from the mind which operates from projections. We suffer and unhappy because of our projection. We know this but sometimes it is so hard and painful to accept the karma and ignore it. May we work hard and recite more Manjushri mantra to remove our ignorance.
