5-Foot Gyenze Statue Arrives in Kechara Forest Retreat
Gyenze, otherwise known as Ratna Shugden, is one of the five main emanations of the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. This particular emanation is Dorje Shugden manifesting in an increasing form. When sincere practitioners propitiate Gyenze, we invoke his blessings to increase outer and inner wealth, health, and spiritual merits.
With this in mind, His Eminence the 25th Tsem Rinpoche envisioned and built a chapel specifically dedicated to Gyenze and his beneficial energies. Located at the front of Kechara Forest Retreat, it has become a place of spiritual pilgrimage for many people of all backgrounds and Gyenze has manifested signs of fulfilling people’s wishes.
As more and more people are seeing the benefits of praying to Gyenze, a new 5-foot statue was commissioned to be installed in the chapel. On November 3, 2017 the new statue of Gyenze arrived at Kechara Forest Retreat. Auspiciously, it was the very same day that Kechara’s monthly Dorje Shugden puja was being held! Milk, incense and a silk khata were offered to welcome Gyenze as soon as the statue was unpacked.
After two full days of preparation, a team of Kecharians from Kechara Saraswati Arts arrived to paint Gyenze’s face gold, according to tradition, and even adorned his holy image with red coral and turquoise beads. They spent the following day making bronze bead necklaces to be offered around Gyenze’s neck and also to be strewn below Gyenze’s horse.
On November 8, 2017, Kecharians escorted the sacred statue to the Gyenze Chapel situated to the left side of the main entrance to Kechara Forest Retreat. This new statue replaced the smaller one previously at the chapel. The Gyenze chapel is one of the more popular destinations at Kechara Forest Retreat, and is now becoming well-known as a place where many people’s prayers are being answered. As a result, the bigger version of Gyenze was sponsored to replace the previous statue as a form of gratitude.
Many Kecharians eagerly awaited the arrival of the statue to welcome the lord of wealth into the chapel. Once Gyenze had arrived, powdered incense, mantras, mini Buddha statues including the entourage of Dorje Shugden, and holy relics were inserted into Gyenze statue. It took 10 people to carry the statue onto the altar as it was much heavier after all the items were inserted.
Once Gyenze had been enthroned, participants began setting up the remainder of the altar and prepared the necessary offerings for a Gyenze/Dorje Shugden puja led by Kechara’s very own puja team. Strands of brass beads, red coral, turquoise, pearls and artificial gold bullions were strewn below Gyenze’s horse to signify spiritual and material abundance. Nine 8-foot tall incense sticks and many smaller incense sticks were lit, filling the air with an offering of smoke and a sweet aroma. 108 oranges, plenty of biscuits, drinks and 2,500 candles were offered to Gyenze during the puja.
On the following day, Rabney and Soongdrup pujas were performed in the chapel, followed by a Gyenze/Dorje Shugden puja with tsok. Soongdrup is a ritual that purifies and blesses Buddha images, mantras and other holy items. This is usually followed by the empowering Rabney puja, which infuses the sealed statues and holy objects with the blessings of the Three Jewels, thus imparting streams of continuous positive energies to their surroundings.
Since Gyenze is the emanation of Dorje Shugden’s aggregate of feeling that has been purified, every aspect of his body represents various qualities of an enlightened being. Furthermore, Gyenze’s physical form reveals his great ability and strength to benefit sentient beings by way of bestowing inner and outer wealth. Within the mandala of Dorje Shugden, Gyenze appears on the right of the main deity (Duldzin Dorje Shugden) in the form of a celestial prince with one face and two arms.
With his right hand, he holds up to the sky a golden long-life vase that overflows with divine nectar and is adorned with the branch of a wish-granting tree. This vase represents his ability to bestow worldly and physical necessities such as wealth, health, good relationships and all manner of resources so that we are free to practice the Dharma. In the other hand, he holds a bowl filled with jewels and on his arm rests a treasure-spitting mongoose. This signifies that Gyenze is a wealth-bestowing deity who provides spiritual and material wealth.
Furthermore, Gyenze is adorned with princely yellow robes and rides a yellow palomino horse. The colour yellow represents the activity of increase and abundance, which is Gyenze’s method to bless and benefit practitioners. In the crook of his left arm, he cradles a victory banner and vajra hook. The victory banner represents victory over the Maras or delusions, negative emotions and the negative karma that denies us what we wish for. Hence, whatever Gyenze bestows will ultimately lead towards the removal of defilements and obstacles. Gyenze wielding the vajra hook represents his ability to remove all obstacles and negativities and the hooking in of all spiritual and material wealth that ultimately leads to liberation. The yellow palomino horse symbolizes Gyenze’s swiftness in removing obstacles and in coming to our aid.
No Buddha or Dharma Protector can change our karma, but Gyenze is able to come to our aid because he works through the merits accumulated and negative karma purified by our propitiation of him. In other words, Gyenze’s practice itself supplies the merits through which we access Gyenze’s divine powers that help us. Without this, we would be unable to receive his blessings, so the practice is very important.
We gain merits through relying on Gyenze, making offerings, visualising his form and reciting his mantra. With these merits, Gyenze is able to activate dormant positive karma for us, while at the same time hold back negative karma from ripening and making us suffer. When Gyenze holds back negative karma, it is not removed but temporarily prevented from ripening until we have purified that karma to the extent that it is diminished or completely purified. In this manner, our negative karma can no longer harm us.
The Gyenze Chapel is open 24 hours day, 7 days a week for everyone to visit and/or worship at your own convenience. Visitors can enjoy the chapel which is fully stocked with candles, incense and wish-fulfilling tablets for you to make offerings and prayers to Gyenze. It is also stocked with a range of free distribution educational and prayer materials, including pendants, DVDs, books, brochures and framed images.

Dear friends,
Tibet has produced many powerful meditations, rituals and guidelines to help us gain spiritual protection, gain wisdom and higher states of consciousness. In general Tibet has produced many powerful methods for the growth of our spiritual evolution. Dorje Shugden is an angel, a saint, a powerful spiritual protector-warrior who originated 350 years ago when a highly awakened Tibetan Lama fulfilled his vows to become a special being to grant protection, wisdom, material needs, safety when travelling (normal and astral travel) and spiritual awakening. Both the Great 5th Dalai Lama and the current His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama composed short yet effective prayers to invoke upon the power and blessings of this special saint and protector. One can recite either one of the prayers that you feel suits you, anytime or even daily. When you feel a special need for help, you can recite either prayer anytime. When you are feeling down, afraid or just need a blessing, you can recite them. After reciting either invocation, it is good to chant the mantra of Dorje Shugden: Om Benza Wiki Bitana Soha.
You do not have to be a Buddhist or practitioner of any religion to invoke upon the blessings and protection of this special enlightened and awakened angel Dorje Shugden. He helps all without discrimination or bias as he is filled with compassion and love. Divinity has no boundaries, they help all who call upon them.
Enclosed are the prayers in English, Chinese and Tibetan.
May you be safe, protected and blessed.

Divination (‘mo’) Text by Dorje Shugden
This is an important divination (‘mo’) text composed by Dorje Shugden himself. Dorje Shugden took trance of the Choyang Dulzin oracle lama, the senior oracle of Gaden Shartse Monastery, and instantly on the spot composed this text within two hours.
The divination text contains information on how to use dice to do divination for the future and is known to be highly accurate. When practitioners use this text, they will be in direct contact with Dorje Shugden to get answers to questions about the future. It is for those who have good samaya with Dorje Shugden and are free of the eight worldly dharmas to be of benefit to others in divining the future.

Tsem Rinpoche is very kind to introduce Dorje Shugden to us. Gyenze is the increase form of Dorje Shugden. He helps to increase our wealth, both outer and inner. However, wealth is not the only thing he helps us to increase, he helps to increase our memory, our health, relationship with others etc.
The Gyenze Chapel next to the entrance of Kechara Forest Retreat is beautiful, especially the 5 feet Gyenze statue. Many people have come here to pray and make wishes. I heard many wishes were granted and many people are coming here to pray on a regular basis.
Dorje Shugden helps people by giving them hope. When someone loses hope, they can become depressed and it becomes a suffering. When we are in a situation like this, we can pray to Dorje Shugden he will give us guidance and help us to find hope again. We can rely on him because he is an emanation of Manjushri, a Buddha.
Be blessed with these rare videos featuring explanation and advice about Dorje Shugden practice by His Holiness Kyabje Zong Rinpoche in his own voice. The teaching was requested by Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen, one of the earliest masters who taught Tibetan Buddhism in the West.

Dorje Shugden’s practice is really effective and fast. Gyenze is the increasing form of Dorje Shugden that blesses us with increasing energy to our wishes. There is a lot of Bentong folks that came to pray got their wish answered. There was a lot of miracles as well.
Some got the financial help that they needed. Some have their health improved and illness healed. May more and more people come to Kechara Forest Retreat to connect with this protector and have their lives changed.
His Holiness the 10th Panchen Lama
Tibetans commonly refer to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama as the “sun and moon” of Tibetan Buddhism. They are the center of Tibetan Buddhist civilization, which draws to its sphere of influence millions of non-Tibetan practitioners. The Panchen Lama’s incarnation line began with the 16th abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen (1570 – 1662). He was bestowed the title of Panchen Lama by His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama after being declared as an emanation of Amitabha.
After being given the title, his three previous incarnations were posthumously also bestowed the title, making Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen the 4th Panchen Lama. He became a teacher to many Tibetans, Bhutanese and Mongolian religious figures, including His Holiness the 4th and 5th Dalai Lamas, and the 1st Jetsun Dampa of Mongolia. A prolific author, Chokyi Gyeltsen is credited with over a hundred compositions, including a number of commentaries and ritual texts that remain central in the Gelukpa tradition today. Along with his role as a teacher of the Dharma, the Panchen Lamas are usually responsible for the recognition of the rebirths of the Dalai Lamas, and vice versa.
The 10th Panchen Lama, Lobsang Trinley Lhundrub Chokyi Gyeltsen (19 February 1938 – 28 January 1989) continued both the spiritual and political roles of his predecessors. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, his contemporary, was even heard to say and echo the Panchen Lama’s own words that the Dalai Lama would safeguard Tibet from the outside while the Panchen Lama would safeguard Tibet from the inside, as he never left Tibet after the political troubles of 1959. He was truly loved by the Tibetans, all the way until his passing. When he taught, thousands of people would attend, not only from his own Gelug lineage, but masters and practitioners from all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.
At his sprawling monastery of Tashi Lhunpo, he has a special chapel specifically dedicated to Dorje Shugden, where prayers and rituals are performed on a daily basis. In his great omniscience the Panchen Lama held Dorje Shugden as the principal Dharma protector of the monastery. He also personally propitiated Dorje Shugden among other Dharma protectors, and even wrote extensive prayers and rituals to Dorje Shugden. These rituals and prayers are contained within his ‘sung bum’ or collected works, which are provided here. As such a great lama, with an erudite and clear understanding of the Buddhist scriptures, a teacher to millions in both Tibet and China, from an established incarnation line and an emanation of the Buddha Amitabha, he could not be mistaken about his practice of Dorje Shugden.
His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama is known for his composition of commentaries and practice texts that are still in use by contemporary Buddhist practitioners both in Tibet and across the world. One of these is a powerful ritual composition propitiating the compassionate Dorje Shugden.
Upon the request by Acharya Lobsang Jangchub to compose a shorter version of the prayer (sadhana) for the exhortation of activities of Dorje Shugden, Panchen Lama immediately composed an abbreviate form of Dorje Shugden’s Kangsol. This text is entitled “Manjunatha’s (Tsongkapa) Lineage protector Dorje Shugden and five forms wrathful propitiations and confessional prayers and fulfilment of activities rites” or “Melodious sound of Accomplishment of the Four Activities” for short. Once the prayers were completed, he had signs and strong feelings that Dorje Shugden has been working hard to protect the Buddhadharma in general and the lineage of Lama Tsongkhapa specifically.
Mirroring the abilities of one of his earlier incarnations, Khedrub Je, a disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa and master of both sutra and tantra, the Panchen Lama used his compositional skill and poetic prowess to create a masterful sadhana. Worthy of note is a praise in which the first letter of each verse is a Tibetan vowel. Such compositions are rarely seen, and have historically only been used when propitiating senior Dharma protectors such as Palden Lhamo and Kalarupa.
The Panchen Lama also stated that while composing the Dorje Shugden sadhana (prayers) he was filled with a sense of happiness and bliss. He ends the composition with not only his official title but his ordination name, Tenzin Trinley Jigme Choje Wangchuk, endorsing the validity of his work. He composed the sadhana in his own Tashi Lhunpo monastery while in the Hall of Clear Light and Bliss.

“If the Dalai Lama, if His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by Dorje Shugden, then we might as well not practice Buddhism anymore. If His Holiness the Dalai Lama can have his life shortened by a so-called evil spirit, any evil spirit, then can he be Avalokiteshvara? So on one hand you say, we say, I say, everybody says, he is Avalokiteshvara; on the other hand you’re saying that he can be harmed by an evil spirit… Which one is it? Can he be harmed by an evil spirit or is he Avalokiteshvara? Do you think Avalokiteshvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Tara all take refuge in something else to protect themselves from Dorje Shugden? How illogical is that? How illogical of people to say His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by an evil spirit, any evil spirit or “Dorje Shugden” evil spirit. How is that possible?” – Tsem Tulku Rinpoche

This video condensed and made simple the history of the Dorje Shugden ban and the sufferings Dorje Shugden people experienced and continue to experience for 20 years. The video also laid out and reveal the truth and facts that Dorje Shugden was the Protector who advised His Holiness the Dalai Lama to flee to India and hence His Holiness’ life is saved. There is no religious freedom for the Dorje Shugden people worldwide because of the Dorje Shugden ban executed by the Central Tibetan Administration. We are, until today being discriminated and persecuted for simply practising our choice of religion and this is the truth.

Truly superb! Thank you Rinpoche and all those involved in the establishment of The Gyenze Chapel in Kechara Forest Retreat. I enjoyed the video and photos very much and could feel the excitement you must have felt erecting this most beautiful statue. My sincere hope and wish is that many sentient beings may have the opportunity to visit, to make offerings and prayers to the many Buddhas Rinpoche has taught us so much about. As this will be of great benefit to all those fortunate to make the pilgrimage to Malaysia’s Kechara Paradise. I was grateful to receive a Statue from Rinpoche last year of Gyenze Shugden. I was moved by this great act of kindness and generosity, as the gift of Dharma is the finest of all and has brought about much positive change in my life and in the lives of those around me. To see the care and due attention to detail being taken by the dedicated people at Kechara, speaks great volumes of their wise Guru, showing the same concern to all they meet. Always humble, helpful, informative, genuine and compassionate. As these are the attributes of their great teacher well reflected. May all who have arrived here, have continued success and good karma, dedicating all that would bring about peace, understanding and tolerance to the Buddhas and to the enlightenment of all beings in the six realms and beyond. Thank you Rinpoche for showing the way on the path. May we always arrive at the Dharma in this and future lives, transcending suffering and sorrows, knowing the infinite bliss of the Buddha. “OM BENZA WIKI BITANA SOHA TSESO PALJOR LONG CHO THAMCHED PUTRIM KURU OM”

In hard times, when we need help, then invoking upon Gyenze daily will bring what we need. Gyenze is Dorje Shugden in a wealth form specifically to help us gain resources. May all who came ,see and pray be blessed .
Thank you Rinpoche for inviting this beautiful statue .
Today I am fortunate to be able to visit the new Gyenze statue. It looks stunning. Thank you Rinpoche for creating this opportunities for everyone to engage in Dorje Shugden practise. May more people understand dharma and encourage more to practise.
It is indeed a meritorious project to undertake, requested by my teacher, Tsem Rinpoche. It is my first time making a statue and I am very fortunate to be offered this precious opportunity to bring hope and relief to all those who seek for Gyenze’s blessings.
This project took 3 months from making a clay model of Gyenze to the final statue that we see now. I learnt about Gyenze’s iconography overnight in order to give feedback to the sculpture of what I thought would be most ideal. Rinpoche also gave feedback along with some writers. Once the clay model was approved, a mold was made to cast the statue in bronze. The metal craftsmen welded the pieces together and polished it to perfection.
In the meanwhile, we went to source for artificial jewellery at the wholesalers to adorn the Gyenze statue. It was quite an experience to source through so much articial jewellery in the complex of wholesalers to find the right ones for Gyenze.
This experience made me realise the tremendous amount of effort and resources required to commission the making of statues overseas in order to ensure that the iconography is correct and the quality is of high standards. Nevertheless, it was worthwhile for sure.
May all who visit Gyenze continue to receive blessings of good health, spiritual and material abundance and miracles that fulfill wishes.
Rinpoche is always so kind and do all the best to fulfill people’s wishes. The bigger stunning Gyenze looks so great and holy. To propitiate Gyenze can increase wealth, health abd merits. We will never have the chance to pray to Gyenze without Rinpoche. This chapel is so holy and pray to Gyenze can fast to fulfill our wishes. Once again thank you Rinpoche bring Gyenze and dharma into our life.
In deed great to know. Hope more people will benefit and more people will be in dharma. Increase in resources, inner and other wealth.

It is extremely fortunate for us to have the Gyenze form of Dorje Shugden grown to almost life-size in a short period of barely 2 years! This marvelous form of Dorje Shugden brings about increase to all who pray to him with faith and conviction. There are people who had their financial woes resolved and began to experience increase in resources needed in their worldly pursuit and be showered be abundance in physical necessities. Most importantly, prayer to Gyenze will essentially invoking his blessings to remove all obstacles and negativities and the hooking in of all spiritual and material wealth that leads ultimately to liberation. Thank you for this wonderful updates!
Thank You Rinpoche and the Kecharians to help to setup the new Gyenze Statue in KFR. Honestly, I am very into Dorje Shugden and Gyenze Practice now. With Guru and Protectors, I found that I am not alone anymore. Somebody is backing up me in my life (I was alone all the while in my life or career life). I treated Guru to be my father (my biological father has passed away in 2000, I do miss him a lot) and Protectors are my senior guiding me and bless me. I also found warm in Kechara that I have so many Pastors care about me even I am so far away physically.
I personally believe nowadays we need a lot of blessing from Gyenze due to career/finance and health issue. I do my daily sadhana of Dorje Shugden and Gyenze. I also start spreading or distributing Dorje Shugden to some of my Chinese friends and hope they will get blessing from Dorje Shugden too.
I am very touched to see this huge and beautiful Gyenze statue. Hope more and more people engage in Dorje Shugden and Gyenze practice and being protected. Sincerely folded my hands to my Guru for His compassion to setup Kechara to spread the precious Dharma teaching to us. I hope one day I can be part of the team to help my holy Guru.
As the “increase” form of Dorje Shugden who bestows increase in all forms such as merits, life span, attainments, resources and wealth, this upsize is a good testimony of how effective Gyenze is. Seeing the Gyenze “grow” to my height has strengthened my faith even more.
Here’s to more “increases” in Kechara Forest Retreat!
Someone once told me that the statues at Kechara grows, and I remember distinctly looking at him skeptically at the time. And, as the years roll by, I see the statues “grow” and “multiply”. And, it is wonderful to see as it is evidence that many are reaping the benefits of faith and propitiating the Buddhas and wishing to contribute in any way they can.
It is also evidence of Rinpoche’s care and kindness to bless and encourage us and love for us to connect, stay connected and also to benefit us by helping us to collect merits for our journey through samsara, helping us find our motivation to leave this nest of samsara.
My all who come visiting at Gyenze Chapel be blessed to have inner and outer wealth, health and spiritual merits.
Such a blessing indeed to now have a bigger Gyenze in our midst at KFR. An image of an enlightened being or Buddha is, in essence, a representation of eons and eons of countless merits. Thus, to see and to make offerings such a holy image puts the imprint in our mind to have the same situation come to us (i.e. we are planting the seeds to achieve, in the future, every quality that an enlightened being represents). Naturally, for a mere mortal like me, having a bigger one serves like a “bigger reminder” for me.
Interestingly, a friend once commented that Gyenze at the chapel was quite small for a spacious chapel and asked me jokingly if Gyenze will increase itself since Gyenze was about increase. I replied then that if people have the merits for it, a bigger Gyenze will indeed materialise. It is definitely a positive sign that Gyenze in KFR has “grown” in size and rejoice that more and more people are seeing the benefits of praying to Gyenze. Thank you, Rinpoche and the dedicated team who worked hard and tirelessly to make this happen.
