An offering of 100,000!!!
A group of Kecharians led by puja coordinator, Leann Lim has completed a prostration retreat at our Kechara House gompa. They have kindly dedicated the successful completion of the retreat to my good health and long life. This retreat was started by Leann while I was having my medical check-ups in Singapore. Thank you so much. It benefits me and it benefits you.
Collectively, 41 Kecharians have completed 100,000 prostrations! How wonderful. Through the act of prostrating and taking refuge in the Three Jewels, we can purify our negative actions accumulated through our body, speech and mind. We purify karma accumulated from our body because our body is engaged in the act of something holy, which is the prostration itself. As we do the prostration and recite the refuge prayer (Namo Guru Beh, Namo Buddha Ya, Namo Dharma Ya, Namo Sangha Ya), we are purifying the karma that we have accumulated from our speech. Finally, when we prostrate, there is a visualisation that accompanies the prostration.
Physically, prostrations benefit our body by increasing our endurance and purifying the negative body karma that causes diseases and illnesses. On a spiritual-level, prostrations benefit our mind. For countless lifetimes, our actions and thinking have revolved around ourselves… What we want to do, where we want to eat, what we want to study, how to be rich, how to be famous etc. This habitual thinking makes us very well-practiced at being self-centered. It is not our fault. We just have not been trained or taught in any other ways.
In a prostration retreat, we continuously prostrate and “lower ourselves”. Gradually, we will understand the need to modify our mindset and to destroy our ego. As we become less self-centric, we naturally open ourselves up more… and for those on the spiritual path, this increases our ability to absorb the Dharma.
I have included a card from the retreat group below, which was offered together with flowers when they first started the retreat… how sweet of them. I thank all of them from my heart. I rejoice so much in your dharma practice and offering of dharma practice. It is such a precious gift.

Rejoice to those Kecharians who has completed a prostration retreat dedicated to Rinpoche for his well being, and long life. Prostrations create an unbelievable amount of merit. Buddhist prostration practice is an important devotional exercise to accumulate merits and good fortune.
Thank you Rinpoche for this wonderful teachings on prostration.
Thx Rinpoche for sharing. I did start my prostration since 1 Jan.I committed 100 a day. Sometimes I didn’t feel well but I still carry on my prostration. After did it, I feel great n energetic. Does it a kind of purification?i will keep this prostration practice to purify my negative karma as soon as possible.
it was so very kind of them to do this, it bring tons and tons of good merits to them and also to thier families. i hope Rinpoche does live long to continue spreading the dharma with Kechara. nice job guys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh wow, the ones who did the most prostrations were the youngest participants… Jutika and Bradley! These kids really know their priorities. Instead of spending all their time running around and playing video games they did 8000 over prostrations each!!!
In this life, both Jutika and Bradley haven’t done much to accumulate heavy negative karma, yet they have purified their body karma by doing prostrations. I hope that they collect enough merits to continue their spiritual journey and continue to stay close to the Dharma 🙂
[…] An offering of 100,000!!! […]
It really inspire me a lot , 41 kecharians has achieved the 100,000 prostration and dedicated to our Tsem Tulku Rinpoche good health and long life , Thank you Leann Lim , She has lead the kecharians to completed prostration retreat at our Kechara House gompa. Rejoice !
This wondrous virtuous act was done collectively by 41 members and friends of Kechara House to complete 100,000 protrastions to be dedicated to our Guru, Tsem Tulku Rinpoche for his good health and long life. It was not only the best of all offerings but also extremely beneficial to those participating in such a retreat, such as: -spiritually it humbles our mind, due to the countless lifetimes of self-centreness of only thinking of ourselves; opens up ourselves more to become less self-centric and increase our ability to absorb the Dharma; and last but not least, physically, it was said to purify one’s body karma that causes diseases and illness. This offering was very happilly accepted with great joy by our Guru as a precious gift!
Thanks Guru for teaching us the prostration. And, giving me changes to do purification.
Thank you Leann Lim and Jamie who provide this opportunity for me to practice prostration.
What a great offering offered by 41 sincere members of Kechara, offering of their practice.
Being self-centred for so many years, daily when I do my 21 prostrations, it helps to examine my mind how often I think of myself or others. Visualizing my mum on my left, father on my right, all sentient being behind me, and those who I think they hurt me or I dislike are in front of me, together we make prostrations to the Buddhas.
During this time, we will not want to think how to revenge or how hurt we are, will we?
