Choi Sheem joins Kechara Saraswati Arts!
Choi Sheem has officially joined KSA as a full-time staff! She has decided to work from 2-8pm, as she home-schools her two sons in the morning.
Choi Sheem and Mr. Lam are active volunteers in Kechara and always helps out wherever and whenever they can. Whenever they participate in any Kechara-related events, the whole family would get involved together. Whether it is participating in a praying retreat or attending animal liberation days, their two sons Jutika and Pavara would join in! They treat their two sons with respect and in turn their two boys have the deepest respect for them.
Choi Sheem and her family first stumbled on Kechara about 5 years ago. This was when Mr Lam and herself walked into the Kechara Paradise store in One Utama. They found our Kechara shop interesting, spoke a little to the shop attendant and made a brief connection there. Back then, they were volunteering in another dharma center giving their time to help in the kitchen to prepare food.
It was not until 3 years later when she and her family were walking around the city that they saw these people giving out food to the homeless….little did she know that it was yet again Kechara!..Manifesting as a Soup Kitchen hehe.
Choi Sheem was so impressed with how all these old and young people got together and were giving out food to the homeless and urban poor that she immediately though, “I have so many clothes to donate to them!”. From then on she has just been joining in any and most of Kechara-related activities including ones from: Kechara House, Kechara Care, Kechara Soup Kitchen, Kechara Saraswati Arts….wow!
Paul has said that the KSA team will train her up to fill mantra into statues, string malas, learn to do beading work and she will be in charge of getting volunteers to roll mantra, and all other related work in KSA.
She expressed that the reason why she chose to do KSA full-time (and not the other departments..) is because she loves to work on statues. She loves to roll mantras and be surrounded by Buddhist art. She said that there isn’t any other places where she can do this full-time and she’s happy finally finding it.
As a mother of two, she always dedicates her merits towards the healthy growth (physical, educational and spiritual) of her boys. Pavara and Jutika is seen as the little dharma boys in Kechara. Their level of maturity sometimes surprises people, and there’s no limit in what they can do. During the last Dzambala retreat, Jutika won third place in the highest number of prostrations! She is very proud of her boys and loves them a lot.
She is starting her first day at work today. She came in 2 hours early all excited and ready to work! We with open arms welcome her to our spiritual home and family.

Hi Lam & Choi Sheem,
Our chat at Ron and Shelly’s house when they invited their 3′ Lama Tsongkhapa statue home ended when Lam asked how both of you can be more involved in Kechara. Well, you have taken the first step. I wonder when Lam is? 🙂
Congratulations!
Congratulations Choi Seem, welcome to the Kechara family! With your dedication and your love for Buddhist art, you will definitely be an asset to KSA!
Dear Choi Sheem,
Congratulation on you decision to go full time into Dharma. You’re the “master” and with folded hand I rejoice!
Welcome to the family Choi Sheem! It is an honour to know you and your lovely family and am so happy to hear that you’re joining Dharma work. We kind of think of you, Lam, Jutika and Parava as full-timers already anyway as you are always so involved in all our activities and lend so much support. Big love xxx
Hi Choi Sheem,
I am very happy for you! We often do our monday Setrap prayers together and I have always found your two boys real darlings and you and your husband caring and kind, quiet!, but very kind. With your thoughtfulness and detail to attention you will be a great asset to KSA.
Warm regards, Lin
Choi Sheem is a quiet well mannered lady. I think she has made the BEST choice in her life in working at KSA. Everyday she would have the great fortune to be surrounded by beautiful buddha statues, and to beautify them with gold paint and jewel offerings, how meritorous!
Welcome to the BIG family, Choi Seem. I am sure you will be a great asset to KSA.
Congratulations Choi Sheem! This is great news and I am here rejoicing!
Choi Sheem is really a caring Dharma sister – in fact the Lam family is a unique one-of-a Kind Dharma family whom we are so blessed to have!
They are always helpful and supportive… lending their hands to help pack and clean up the Gompa after prayers, volunteering for events and activities, by being supportive and participating in classes conducted by various departments, helping our other divisions…chipping in many other ways besides sponsoring for Dharma activities, they also sponsors drinks at Kechara Care to support everyone them.
What is great about her is she sets the example, by doing things, by being hands on. A doer by all accounts – she is straight forward and very sincere with people and about things.
What is amazing is how she can juggle the daily running around – with sports, activities, teaching the kids, being a mum, a teacher, a wife – all in her! And being good at it! Her contributions have started the minute she walked in…
This is one face I am sure glad to see when I go KSA! So happy for her and for KSA! This is just fantastic!
Lots of love and a big hug to our Dharma Sister Choi Sheem
Dear Choi Sheem,
I am so glad that KSK brought you and your family BACK to the embrace of Kechara..
See you more at KSA, KH, KC… and not forgetting KSK !!
Your humble dharma sister,
Siong Woan
So! So! Happy! for you Choi Sheem. In these few years you have been volunteering in a lot of Departments in Kechara House floating around looking for the right place to park yourself.
And now you really have permanent place to park. Choi Sheem and husband uncle Lam (that is what he wants us to call him) and the two boys is a family love by everyone in KH. Because of Choi Sheem and uncle Lam being so active in Dharma work Jutika and Pavara also benefits by helping out and at the same time learning Dharma at such a young age. They have very good family karma. May whoever wants to have a good family example. Choi Sheem’s family is just right.
