Kechara House Penang opens!
On June 14, 2015 Kechara marked another milestone with the opening of Kechara House Penang. Located in the northern island state of Penang, the opening of Kechara House Penang is the result of many years of hard work by my student Pastor Patsy Gooi.
Present to officiate this auspicious occasion was Yang Berhormat (YB) Senator Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun who is the Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development. I wish to thank Yang Berhormat for taking time out of her busy schedule to grace this event.
After Pastor Patsy and YB Senator Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun gave their opening speeches, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to officiate the opening. Pastor Patsy then led the group in prayers before they liberated birds to celebrate this opening. Before YB Senator Datin Paduka Chew left, she also offered candles and flowers onto Kechara House Penang’s modern altar.
Pastor Patsy tells me that many members of the press and about 100 guests attended this event. In fact, many came from other states in Malaysia to join the celebrations. I am so happy to hear that some Kecharians drove and flew from as far away as Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur to support Kechara House Penang in this opening. It is very important that when any of our members succeed, we should be there to support and celebrate one another. Why? Because when Kechara grows, it means the Dharma has grown physically and more importantly, in our minds. It means that we are taking real steps to benefit others by taking responsibility for our own and others’ spirituality. Isn’t that a reason to celebrate?
Pastor Patsy was a normal wife and mother in Penang from a well-off family. Instead of spending her time shopping, dining with her girlfriends, going to parties and all that, which there is nothing wrong but that is not all Pastor Patsy wanted to do. She saw how much Dharma helped her so she wanted to help others in the same way too. Of course she loves her husband and children very much but if I may respectfully say so, her children are now grown up and okay and it is time for her to do more. And she is definitely doing more.
So I am very proud of Pastor Patsy’s progress because Kechara House Penang is a clear sign of how much she has transformed to accomplish this. I have known Pastor Patsy and her family for over 20 years now. It is wonderful how her husband totally supports her spiritual journey. I thank him very much. Patsy is very simple but in a good way. For her, yes is yes and no is no. She always keeps her promises to me and is very direct. We have had a wonderful relationship of trust and friendship in this way. So members of Kechara House Penang are very fortunate to have this wonderful lady guiding and leading them in Penang. Pastor Patsy has my full support and prayers for her to succeed. I humbly thank YB Senator Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun for gracing the occasion. We thank you so much. Thank you also to the sponsors for the premises whose generosity is much appreciated. Their contribution has provided a space for Lama Tsongkhapa to grow in the north of Malaysia. And thanks to all the other wonderful guests also.
Please enjoy these pictures and congratulations once again to Pastor Patsy and all the members of Kechara House Penang for their tremendous work.

It’s been more than a year now since Kechara House Penang first opened its doors to the spiritually inclined in the north of Malaysia. Since, then, they have grown from strength to strength. Pastor Patsy has always been patiently guiding those who have walked in through its doors and also working to bring many to the dharma. Pastor Patsy has always come across as a very warm, gentle and caring person.
Many events have been organized to raise funds for Kechara Soup Kitchen Penang, as well. Thanks to Pastor Patsy, many has a ‘spiritual home’ in Penang.
I am so happy to hear that Kechara is spreading and the dharma will reach more lives as seeds to sprout in the future as soon as they see this Kechara House in Penang. the Dharma is not all about praying day and night, it is about learning and making yourself better with the many lessons of the Dharma. Making yourself more aware to things and purer. The Dharma can even offere help for its people in many different conditions. The Dharma brings many benefits to the people involved and I hope that this Kechara House there can bring the beautiful Dharma to their lives to make it better in many ways. So now that Kechara is spreading, Rinpoche’s teachings will spread too. So Rinpoche’s can touch more lives than he already has.
I wish this Kechara House the best of luck in Penang and for them to keep up the work in spreading the Dharma. I wish I can see it one day when I go up. But for now I will wish you the best of luck and I hope for you to spread well. Also I want to thank all the people involved and mentioned in the post for helping to make Kechara bigger.
Thank You Rinpoche and Pastor Patsy for tirelessly guiding me in Penang. I still remembered I still remembered vividly that I pumped into Kechara Paradise Penang 2009. I was surprised to spot a Tibetan Shop in Penang and due to curiosity I went into to check it out. Pastor Patsy was welcoming me in the shop and asked me what she can help me with. I asked for one of deity statue and she said she did not have that but she can introduce me a powerful protector, Lord Setrap. She gave me Lord Setrap card. My spiritual path in Kechara started from the card.
In very beginning of my Dharma path, I always gave excuse and absent from weekly puja for weeks, she would patiently called me up and reminded me to attend. She is very kind and patient leader. I believe more and more Penangites will be benefiting from my Guru’s teaching through Kechara House Penang and Pastor Patsy.
I would like to take opportunity to Thank You for my Guru, H.E.Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, Pastor Patsy, all Kechara Pastors and Senior Kecharians. I am so lucky that I have received the help from you all in one way and another. Thank You with folded hands. I will continue keep my samaya to my Guru from distance away.
Congratulations to Pastor Patsy and our Penang Study Group on the opening of Kechara House Penang. It’s indeed an auspicious and memorable occasion and I am very proud to be a part of it. With the blessings of H.E Tsem Tulku Rinpoche and Pastor Patsy and the Penang Study Group members who had work hard and tirelessly to make this day happen, Kechara House Penang has opened its doors to the people of Penang on 14th June 2015.
May Dharma grow to benefit more people and May Dorje Shugden bless everyone in Penang. May Dorje Shugden help to clear our obstacles in our path towards Liberation and Enlightenement.
Thank you all for the kind support.

As said, “Kechara is a progressive spiritual organisation that seeeks to create a conscious community that comes together in service of others”. Every aspect of Kechara has been inspired by the life and works of our Founder and Spiritual Advisor, His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, a high reincarnated Lama from Gaden Shartse Monastry. Under Rinoche’s guidance, Kechara has today grew to 13 departments, including a publishing house, an arts studio, a soup kitchen, a video production house, several Dharma stores and two vegetarian restuarants. As has been forecasted, the works, activities and outreach of many branches of Kechara will grow. So now Kechara organisation, has to be geared and strifed hard towards getting ready to bring Rinpoche’s Teachings to the World, for our Lama’s wish of a Kechara World Peace Centre to be realised, to benefit the future generation in this region and beyond! Heartiest congratulations to our Pastor Patsi Gooi of the newly-opened Penang Kechara House! May all their temporal and ultimate wishes be effortlessly fulfilled without exception! It is very good news to see that Kechara has now expanded to Penang!
From now on, the locals of Penang don’t have to travel all the way to Kuala Lumpur to the main gompa of Kechara to participate in its activities.
Pastor Patsy has indeed worked very hard to set up Kechara Penang, whereas she could have spent her time shopping or going with friends.
It was wonderful to see that despite her hectic schedules, YB Senator Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun came to grace the event and show her support.
The merits everyone gained from the event must have been tremendous and hopefully many more people will soon pass through Kechara Penang’s doors and be blessed too!
Rejoice and congratulations to Pastor Patsy and all the committee and members of Kechara Penang Study Group! The opening of Kechara House in Penang has marked an auspicious sign of the growing Dharma practice in the northern part of our country. Well done to all for the hard works and good preparations ahead with many offerings made available and readily to be offered by the visitors during the opening day itself. Many of us have enjoyed listening to the speeches given by YB Senator Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, Pastor Patsy, Leonard Ooi and of course followed with the beautiful lion dance as well as birds liberation upon the prayers recitation. May the Dharma continues to grow more and benefit all sentient beings.

Congratulations Pastor Patsy and Penang Study Group. Teamwork make everything happen. Many people will benefit from this.
It was indeed a joyous moment for all. Through the blessing and support of Rinpoche and the sheer hard work of Pastor Patsy and her team, the event went smoothly.
Pastor Patsy has prepared most of the things on her own and she wanted it perfect for the day. Hence, everything turned out to be flawles on that day! Meanwhile, Leonard Ooi was very helpful. He always update us on the progress of the chapel. I remembered there was one night where he went to chapel just make sure the chapel was alright and have empty parking space for welcoming the guests the next day. It was midnight though! Not to mention, there are many others who have contributed their time and energy to help out few days before.
Kudos to the team and may Dharma spreads far and wide in Malaysia, especially in Penang!
Congratulations to Pastor Patsy and Penang Study Group for making Kechara House Penangla success. It’s indeed another great achievement by Pastor Patsy. This centre makes possible with the full support of H.E Tsem Tulku Rinpoche and also members who had work hard to make it happen. All our efforts have paid off and we are proud to have this chapel in our beautiful island Penang.
May Dharma in Penang grow to benefit more people and with this chapel in place we hope public can get to know more about DS and the benefits of practising DS. May Dorje Shugden bless everyone in Penang.
