KEP appears in “Jessica Magazine”
I met Wan Wai Meng (Wai Meng) when I gave the Manjushri empowerment for the first time in 1992. He attended. I think he was 19 years old then. Over the past decades I’ve called upon him to help/volunteer in this and that. He has stuck loyally by and now joined Kechara as a full time person. I am proud of him. He can see the benefit of Dharma work and Wai Meng is the type once he understands and commits, he usually goes all the way. For that I am happy for him. He works very hard in E-division also.
Wai Meng came up with Kechara Earth Project on his own and has worked very hard on it. Now it is starting to pick up and I am happy he is being recognized for it.
Wai Meng, has recently sent me an update. His pet project named Kechara Earth Project (KEP) had been featured in a Malaysian magazine called “Jessica”.
The main activity that KEP does is collecting recyclables every 2nd Sunday of the month. When they first started out, recyclables were collected from the offices around SunwayMas. Now, their services have extended to all over the Klang Valley! About 1-2 tonnes of recyclables are gathered every month and it is growing.
Besides these monthly recycling initiatives, Wai Meng and a handful of volunteers have been actively participating in all major Kechara events, such as the Mooncake festival, Kechara Gompa opening etc. They make sure that the recyclable trash is collected. It’s because of them that Kechara events are turning out neater and more eco-friendly!
You may have seen him and other KEP volunteers hunting down the recyclables at our recent Wesak Day Fair.
Check it out!… Wai Meng, Kechara’s “Green Hero”. You will find it a pleasure to work with Wai Meng who is straightforward, genuinely polite, kind and soft spoken person. Who believes in putting one’s beliefs into physical action. I look forward to KEP moving to substantial heights inspiring thousands to do the same. Thank you Wai Meng for doing this. I am very happy for what you are doing. I knew you had it in you to be much more than you portrayed.

Title: Green Hero
Wan Wai Meng initiated the Kechara Earth Project (KEP) since April 2010, by this he hopes to promote green awareness by recycling and educating the younger generation to enhance the awareness to protect and love our planet.
“Kechara provides me with the opportunity to benefit others,” says Wai Meng, who is one of the older students of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche and a full time staff of Kechara. He joined the e-Division of Tsem Ladrang since the year 2010.
He highlighted that KEP currently carries out two regular activities, which are the monthly recycling day at Sunway Mas Commercial Centre, and weekly recyclables drop off day on Thursdays, from 10am to 8pm. The monthly recycling day is held on every second Sunday, from 9am to 12pm. KEP is collecting recyclables such as used papers, aluminum cans, metal, old magazines, plastic bottles, etc from the public.
KEP plans to work together with Manjushri Kids Class, a weekly Buddhism class for kids, to educate the children to love our planet, through fun games and useful information.

So proud seeing this post about Wai Meng. I’ve always looked up to him in Kechara. He’s the one to go for any enquiries and with his vast knowledge in Dharma, I’m sure you will be thrilled by his answers.
As always, ‘nature’ has become part of him and kudos to Wai Meng for his efforts. Never knew he was labelled as the ‘ Green Hero’.
Wow! Congratulations to Wai Meng for his determination and commitment in spreading the green culture. Malaysian households are still not recycling, resulting in many environmental problems.
I’m very inspired that regardless of Wai Meng’s busy schedule, he makes the time to lead this cause for the sake of our environment and community. It’ll be great if more media like Jessica Magazine promote what Wai Meng is doing so that he can receive support to do more. Great job Wai Meng!!!
Wai Meng was given this task and from nothing, he made something. He has taken KEP and made it grow by leaps and bounds, taking his own initiative to raise funds, to collect recyclables, to arrange for educational trips and places to place recyclable bins.
I have seen KEP grow, it started when I just newly joined the organization, and till today I have seen the massive improvement it has progressively undergone.
Wai Meng takes care of the environment and is dedicated and committed all the way with whatever assignments that he is handed. He does not complain, he justs tries his best and make it work.
Thank you for showing the way, WM!!
Love,
Carmen
Congratulations to our Green Hero Wai Meng and dedicated team!!! May your green project grow and flourish to save Mother Earth!!!
Wai Meng set a great example to many of us, it truly shown in his action during the recycling day, he put his whole heart into it and make sure everything is in order.
Wai Meng has also inspired our family to be more conscious about our recycling habits. Thank you for all your efforts!!
Congratulations Wai Meng & KEP for being featured in Jessica magazine. Wai Meng and his team worked tirelessly right from the start and now they are the ones who collect all recyclables after each Kechara event. I hope more establishments will come forward and support KEP in their recycling activities for a good cause.
