Lam Rim recitation
Tuesday June 8,2010 9:00PM at KH1!!
We are going to start our new Prayer Hall renovations very soon. So Kh members are taking time away to come evenings after work to recite the Holy Lam Rim book.
Here are 50 caring members doing recitation of Lam Rim as I type this now.
Kudos to them all for doing something wonderful with their time and their true dedication to Dharma.

Coincidentally, there was once when I went to KH for the purpose of joining a puja, it turned out to be a Lamrim recitation that day.
I was with my mum and children. It turned out to be a very meaningful day and that one time recitation alone has brought so much benefit to our petty minds. Lamrim has protected me harming others and aals from committing more misdeeds intentionally or unintentionally.
It was really something special to see all these people in Kechara House, sometimes really late into the night, all committed to reading the Lamrim. It was nice to see such harmony – people were reciting in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and even one Tibetan! and even if we couldn’t understand for a moment what our neighbour was reciting away, it was comforting and safe to know that it carries all the same blessing of the lamrim and all our lineage lamas. It was quite amazing too, to see really young kids (under the age of 10) sitting patiently and quietly and contributing their bit to reading. (Sure is more meaningful than just turning into a gameboy zombie)
It was “fun” too, that in between sessions, you’d see people hanging out downstairs for supper or tea, talking about the chapters that they had read – what they liked, the stories they had read, even the teachings that scared them, what they found out about the Lamrim that they never had before. People would link what they had read in this sacred text to the teachings of our own spiritual guide – it was really the Lamrim come to life 🙂 Do you think Tsongkhapa would have been proud of his Malaysian spiritual “grandchildren?”
After reciting just 1 session of the Lamrim, i understood so much deeper on the chapter that ever before. It is as if the words from the chapter entered my mind directly as any topic that is remotely related to that particular chapter will pop out in my mind and i would be able to recall the contents of the chapter, although not word by word.
It seems that reciting the texts is a far more effective way of remembering and studying them and that it goes in deeper. Perhaps that is why oral recitation is important and not just reading the texts….
The very good response to the series of pujas recently done in KH1 &2 showed the sincere wish of members to want our Retreat centre KWPC to manifest by clearing obstacles for the New Gompa construction.
Rinpoche had always reiterated that he did not want empty buildings and temples. The real obstacles to everything is our deluded mind and negativities and unwillingness to transform.
The starting point is to acquire knowledge so that we can practice to effect trasnformation.
Recitation of the holy Lamrim text, Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand, is one way to acquire knowledge.
Even if we don’t understand, Rinpoche said the imprints from the sound of our recitation and fact that we are doing with sincere motivation to benefit others will have benefits, blessings and purify our mindstream.
Dear Rinpoche, it is indeed very nice to see everyone contributing on the Lam Rin recitation to ensure we meet the 100x by end of 10 June to help clear obstacles for our reno to start fr new Gompa.
