In today’s world, most people live in densely-populated cities. Constructed out of steel, concrete, cement and glass, these artificial environments may be attractive to some. Unfortunately however, man-made materials emanate trace amounts of negative energies that accumulate in our bodies over time. This, combined with the ever-present pollution in the air that we breathe, the stressful and sedentary lifestyle that we lead and the chemicals that are present in our food, eventually lead to the development of various types of illnesses of the body.

The claustrophobic lifestyle of the city can also induce depression, as we age and feel an increasing sense of hopelessness of living a life of utter materialism and self-indulgence. We feel helpless as we lose our health and mobility, and we inch closer towards our eventual mortality. It is no coincidence that torture is associated with bright lights, concrete and loud, raucous music while rehabilitation is associated with open spaces, blue skies, green grass and fresh air.

Hence, Kechara Forest Retreat (KFR) was originally conceived as a place of refuge and healing amongst trees, flowers and shrubs. Aside from the naturally-positive energies of a green environment, high lamas, monks and Dorje Shugden himself (while in trance of the Panglung Oracle) have consecrated the land with powerful pujas. Therefore, the land itself has become highly charged with healing and positive energies.

His Eminence Gangchen Rinpoche, an emanation of Medicine Buddha himself, looking at the semi-precious stones, some of which are now placed at Kechara Forest Retreat’s Medicine Buddha Healing Fountain. Gangchen Rinpoche blessed the stones over the course of a couple of days, imbuing them with healing energies. Click on image to enlarge.

In order for KFR to truly become a place of healing, His Eminence the 25th Tsem Rinpoche has conceived a number of ideas including the newly-opened Medicine Buddha Healing Fountain. Embedded within the fountain are semi-precious stones that were especially consecrated by Dorje Shugden while in trance of the Panglung OracleHis Holiness Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche, widely accepted to be a living emanation of Vajrayogini; our own Tsem Rinpoche and His Eminence Gangchen Rinpoche, an emanation of Medicine Buddha himself. When the water runs over these stones, it becomes charged with the healing properties of the stones and imbued with its blessings.

Bottles are provided for people to collect the water for their personal use. Some suggested uses for the consecrated water include:

  • Consumption by the sick to heal the body and clear the mind of negative emotions
  • Consumption by the dying to clear the mind in preparation for the final journey
  • Giving to heal stray animals and pets
  • Giving to dying or deceased animals in order to implant blessings and Dharma imprints to surface in future lives
  • Sprinkling on new Buddha statues and shrines as an act of consecration

An Introduction to Medicine Buddha

Medicine Buddha (Tibetan: Menlha; Sanskrit: Bhaisajyaguru) is described in the eponymous Baisajyaguruvaiduryaprabharaja Sutra, called the Medicine Buddha Sutra in English. He is described as having made 12 great vows on his spiritual journey towards enlightenment. On achieving complete enlightenment and attaining Buddhahood, he became the Buddha of an eastern Pure Land known as Vaiduryanirbhasa or “Pure Lapis Lazuli”. There, he is attended to by two Bodhisattvas symbolising the light of the sun and the light of the moon respectively.

The practice of Medicine Buddha, the Supreme Healer, is not only a very powerful method for healing and increasing healing powers for oneself and others, but also for overcoming the inner sickness of attachment, hatred, and ignorance. Therefore to meditate on the Medicine Buddha can help decrease physical and mental illness and sufferings.

The Medicine Buddha mantra is held to be extremely powerful for the healing of physical illness and purification of negative karma. One form of practice based on Medicine Buddha is done when one is stricken by disease. The patient is to recite the long Medicine Buddha mantra 108 times over a glass of water. The water is now believed to be blessed by the power of the mantra and the blessing of Medicine Buddha himself. The patient is to drink this water to be healed. This practice is then repeated each day until the illness is cured.

What is special about the Medicine Buddha Healing Fountain in Kechara Forest Retreat is that the water itself has already been blessed by the energies of Medicine Buddha. Simply drinking this water has a tremendous healing effect. Of course if you recite the mantra of Medicine Buddha, whether it is the condensed or extensive version, the healing effect will be magnified.

Iconography

Medicine Buddha is typically depicted seated, wearing the three robes of a Buddhist monk. He holds either a begging bowl or vase of medicine nectar in his left hand, resting in his lap. His right hand rests on his right knee, holding the stem of an arura fruit or Myrobalan between thumb and forefinger. In the Medicine Buddha Sutra, he is also described as having a bright and healing aura of lapis lazuli-coloured light. Within the Chinese tradition, Medicine Buddha is also sometimes depicted holding a pagoda, symbolising the 10,000 Buddhas of the three periods of time.

The 12 Vows of the Medicine Buddha

Here are the 12 Vows of the Medicine Buddha according to the Medicine Buddha Sutra. The Medicine Buddha made these vows before he became a Buddha and as a Buddha now, fulfils each and every one of these:

  1. To illuminate the countless realms with his radiance, enabling anyone to become a Buddha just like him.
  2. To awaken the minds of sentient beings through his light of lapis lazuli.
  3. To provide sentient beings with whatever material needs they require.
  4. To correct heretical views and inspire beings towards the path of the Bodhisattva.
  5. To help beings follow the moral precepts, even if they failed before.
  6. To heal beings born with deformities, illness or other physical sufferings.
  7. To help relieve the destitute and the sick.
  8. To help women who wish to be reborn as men achieve their desired rebirth.
  9. To help heal mental afflictions and delusions.
  10. To help the oppressed be free from suffering.
  11. To relieve those who suffer from terrible hunger and thirst.
  12. To help clothe those who are destitute and suffering from cold and mosquitoes.

The Benefits of Medicine Buddha

Most people think that Medicine Buddha practice is only for healing. However, his practice confers a lot of other benefits too, including:

  • We are freed from epidemics, execution, criminals, spirits; we create the merit to have complete physical and mental faculties; suffering is cut away from our lives; we do not fall to the lower realms in our next rebirth; we experience the happiness of both humans and gods; hunger, thirst and poverty is pacified; we generate wealth; we will not be tormented by beatings; we will not be harmed by tigers, lions and snakes; conflict is pacified; we will not suffer from floods; and we develop a loving mind.
  • We will always be born human in future rebirths so that we can practise the Dharma; we develop compassion; we purify obscurations to enlightenment; we attain the happiness of humans and gods; we will never be separated from our spiritual teachers; we will not be harmed by spirits, enemies or dangers in isolated places; we develop an enthusiasm for making offerings to the enlightened beings; we develop meditative concentration, mindfulness, strength, non-forgetfulness; and we attain wisdom.
  • We extend our lives; we develop material wealth; those who are angersome become loving; and we understand the importance of adhering to spiritual vows.
  • Our sorrow is pacified and we become happy; our bodies become bright and beautiful and we are protected from negativity; our relationships with family and friends improve; and we are healed of diseases.
  • We always see the truth and have faith in the enlightened beings; we are able to hear the Dharma teachings again and again; material resources increase; and we become content.
  • We remove malice from our minds; if we have engaged in negative actions, we become motivated to engage in positive actions instead; and those who are controlled by others gain their independence.
  • We create the causes to become enlightened ourselves; we are freed from being afflicted by our negative karma; we are freed from the torment of ruthless leaders; we will never go hungry and always have good food; we will be freed from the hardships of cold and hot; our wishes will be fulfilled; and we create the causes to take rebirth in the Medicine Buddha’s Pure Land.

Medicine Buddha Prayers

The following prayers can be recited on a daily basis to create a connection with Medicine Buddha and invite the energies of divine healing into one’s life. You can do either one of the prayers, both of which include the recitation of his holy and healing mantra.

I respectfully go for refuge
To the Guru, Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.
To attain Buddhahood for the welfare
Of all living beings

Offering the Seven Limbs

Merely through the touch of the smallest part of your supreme medicinal plant, you cool the fires of the deepest hells, transforming them into lotus pools. To you, Assembly of Protectors of impure beings, with my body, speech and mind, respectfully I prostrate.

I offer a vast collection of offerings, both are actually set out and emanated through the power of mantra, wisdom, and imagination. I confess all negativities and downfalls, rejoice in virtue beseech you to remain, and request you to teach. I dedicate these virtues to great enlightenment.

Recitation of Mantra

At my heart, on a moon disk, is a letter HUM surrounded by the mantra rosary.

TAYATHA OM BEKANZEY BEKANZEY MAHA BEKANZEY BEKANZEY RANZA SAMU-GATEY SOHA. (1 mala per day, or more)

Dedication

Through my virtues from prostrating, making offerings, and reciting the names of the Assembly of Seven Sugatas,
May the supreme prayers that they previously made
The two sets of eight, the four sets of four, and the twelve promises
Immediately ripen upon myself and all other living beings.

Medicine Buddha Sadhana (2)

Meditation

Visualise yourself in your ordinary body, with your heart at the centre of your chest, inverted, pointing upwards. Inside your heart is a white, eight-petal lotus. At its centre is a moon disc, upon which is seated the Healing Buddha in the aspect of supreme transformation. His holy body is clear and in the nature of dark blue light, and he holds an arura plant in his right hand and begging bowl in his left.

In front of the Healing Buddha is the white medicinal goddesses, Actualised Wisdom; to his right is the yellow medicinal goddess, Simultaneous Wealth; behind him is the red forest goddess, Peacock’s Throat; to his left is the green tree goddess, Radiant One. Each goddess is in the nature of blissful radiant light and has one face and two arms. An Arura plant is in each goddess’s right hand, with a vase adorned with various ornaments in the left. The four goddesses sit cross-legged, not in the full vajra position but in the aspect of offering respect to the Healing Buddha.

Then make this request:

O DESTROYER, COMPLETE IN ALL QUALITIES AND GONE
BEYOND AND YOU FOUR MEDICINAL GODDESSES.
PLEASE PACIFY IMMEDIATELY THE ILLNESSES THAT AFFLICT ME
NOW AND HELP ME AVOID ALL FUTURE SICKNESS.

Light rays of the appropriate colour emanate from each of the five deities at your heart. Your heart and body are full of blissful light, which perfectly purifies all diseases, spirit harms, and negative actions and their imprints. Beams of five coloured light radiate from all the pores in your body, while nectar flows down from the Healing Buddha’s begging bowl and the vases held by the four goddesses, completely filling your heart and body. Generate the strong recognition that you have vanquished disease forever and will never be sick again. While concentrating single-pointedly on this visualization, recite the short or long Healing Buddha mantra seven, twenty-one, one hundred and eight, or more times.

Short Mantra of Medicine Buddha

TAYATHA OM BEKANZEY BEKANZEY MAHA BEKANZEY BEKANZEY RANZA SAMU-GATEY SOHA.

Long mantra of Medicine Buddha

OM NAMO BHAGAWATE BEKANZEY GURU BENDURYA PRABHA RANZAYA TAYATHA ARHATE SAMYAKSAM BUDDHAYA TAYATHA OM BEKANZEY BEKANZEY MAHA BEKANZEY RANZA SAMU-GATEY SOHA

If you are sick, after you have finished reciting the mantra, put some saliva in your left palm, rub it on the tip of your right ring finger, place the tip of this finger at the entrance of your right and left nostrils, where the so-called All-Doing King Nerve can be found, and apply the saliva to the afflicted parts of your body. Then recite as many mantras of the Sanskrit vowels and consonants as possible, along with the mantra of the Heart of Dependent Arising.

Sanskrit Vowels

OM A AA I II U UU RI RII LI LII E AI O AU AM AH SOHA

Sanskrit Consonants

OM KA KHA GA GHA NGA / TSA TSHA DZA DZHA NYA / TA THA DA DHA NA / TA THA DA DHA NA / PA PHA BA BHA MA / YA RA LA VA / SA SHA SA HA KSHA SOHA

The Heart of Dependent Arising

OM YE DHARMA HETU-PRABHAVA HETUN TESHAN TATHAGATO HYA VADAT / TESHAN CA YO NIRODHA / EVAM-VADI / MAHA SRAMANAH-YE-SOHA

Is this not just beautiful? This is exactly what Kechara Forest Retreat is envisioned to be, which is a place where every corner is filled with something to benefit others. Here, people can see Medicine Buddha and plant seeds of enlightenment in their minds. They can recite his holy mantra and drink water that has been blessed by him, many lamas and by Dorje Shugden himself.

We hope to build a larger fountain in the future so that this can be made available to more people. Medicine Buddha, due to the vows he made before becoming enlightened, is very powerful and potent for blessing us to heal from diseases of the body and mind. May everyone be healed, happy and free from suffering.

Kechara Forest Retreat (KFR) a place of refuge and healing located at Bentong, Pahang. The land with healing and positive energies suits those wanted to get away from the busy city. The naturally-positive energies of a green environment. With the land been consecrated by high lamas, monks and Dorje Shugden while in trance of the Panglung Oracle with powerful pujas. Having a Medicine Buddha Healing Fountain built at KFR is wonderful , which benefited many locals and tourist visiting KFR. The Medicine Buddha Healing Fountain in KFR where the water itself has already been blessed by the energies of Medicine Buddha. Hence simply drinking this water has a tremendous healing effect. HE Gangchen Rinpoche, an emanation of Medicine Buddha had blessed the semi-precious stones, placed at the fountain. It was then consecrated by Dorje Shugden, H H Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche a living emanation of Vajrayogini, and our Lama Tsem Rinpoche as well.
Than you Rinpoche with folded hands

This Medicine Buddha Healing Fountain was built in such away that it will deliver healing waters which were energized with natural crystals blessed by High Lamas. Those natural crystals were imbued with the healing energies of Medicine Buddha and Dorje Shugden.
With the new healing fountain, visitors can bring home the holy healing energy in a bottle. Thank you very much Rinpoche and Kechara for making this Medicine Buddha Healing Fountain available for everyone.

Healing fountain at Kechara Forest Retreat is one of the popular visiting areas that crowed many people to pay homage and make wishes. One of the must-do things at this holy place is to collect blessed water from the unique and beautiful boulders. The water was energized with natural crystals blessed by High Lamas and imbued with the healing energies of Medicine Buddha and Dorje Shugden. What you need to do is to get the bottle from the boulder cabinet and fill it with the blessed water. You can make a donation of minimum of RM10 at the donation box next to it.

I have heard that many people were benefited from the water and many returns to collect more. This is why H.E. the 25th Tsem Rinpoche created Kechara Forest Retreat which is to benefit many people in various ways for various needs.

Do stop by at Healing Fountain to circumambulate Medicine Buddha and collect the blessed water.

All enlightened beings are worthy of homage and worship. They are the best beings to take refuge in and we should offer them our prayers as we can put our full confidence in them. Of all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, I personally find that Manjushri is extremely important. This is because what keeps us in samsara (cyclic rebirth) is our total ignorance and misunderstanding of the reality of existence. What is necessary to penetrate this deep ignorance that keeps us bound in a perpetual state of reincarnation is wisdom. We need many types of wisdom which can be acquired by relying on Manjushri as our yidam (meditational deity). By focusing on his meditation, practice, mantra and path we can gain wisdom in order to have the tool to penetrate the reality of existence. Therefore, Manjushri is an extremely important Buddha for us to focus on and take refuge in.

My 15 yr old Labrador, Ralph refused to eat his meals after my son went back to school overseas. Might be missing Matt we are not sure. Ralph became weak and could not even stand up. I gave him bits of Medicine Buddha blessed water and after the third day he started to eat a little. We continued each day to pour some blessed water into his water bowl. That was a week ago and now he is much stronger. I was so happy to see him trot out to the garden to enjoy the morning sun.
Thank you Rinpoche for your immense compassion, always thinking of ways on how to help reduce the sufferings of all beings ! With folded hands my deepest gratitude to my Guru !!

This Medicine Buddha Healing Fountain is dedicated to all sentient beings who are suffering from sickness of the body, speech and mind. May this fountain bring relief to all beings who are ill and may its sacred waters heal all disease. May it also purify their minds so that they eventually achieve the body, speech and mind of a fully enlightened Buddha.
    这将造福很多人,无论身;心;灵都得于疗愈。

Amazing and beautiful structure of this healing fountain at Kechara Forest Retreat. Just by looking at it I felt a sense of calmness . I am fortunate to be there when the beautiful Medicine Buddha statue were consecrated. Having this Medicine Buddha Healing Fountain is indeed benefits for many and many more to come as they visit this beautiful place . Rinpoche has conceptualized Kechara Forest Retreat , creating the holy and sacred land, Kechara Forest Retreat in Bentong. This Medicine Buddha Healing Fountain was built in such away that it will deliver healing waters which were energised with natural crystals blessed by High Lamas. Those natural crystals were imbued with the healing energies of Medicine Buddha and Dorje Shugden.
May those who come to this Holy place…..Kechara Forest Retreat be free of suffering and healed of whatever sickness.
Thank you Rinpoche , team and those kind sponsors in making this possible

  11. so kin hoe (KISG) on Sep 11, 2018 at 11:29 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for conceptualizing and creating the holy and sacred land, Kechara Forest Retreat in Bentong, Pahang as a place for all people to engage in meditation, prayers, healing activities as well as other forms of spirituality such as voluntary works, maintaining the natural environment and facility within the holy land, and rescuing the animals in need within the vicinity of that area. However, in the current degenerate age, not all people could have the spiritual merits to fully understand the importance of consistent Dharma practice that can purify the negative karma, which can come to us in the form of inner or outer sickness, pain or terminal illness. Hence, through the compassion and blessing from His Holiness Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche (an emanation of Vajra Yogini), His Eminence Gangchen Rinpoche (an emanation of Medicine Buddha), our own Guru, His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche and Dorje Shugden in trance of the Panglung Oracle, the semi-precious stones were blessed by these high lamas that make Medicine Buddha Healing Fountain available for many lay people and practitioners to receive the healing energies directly from the blessed water.

By consuming the blessed water imbued with enlightened energies from the high lamas, the Dharma seeds can be planted into lay peoples’ minds and practitioners as well so that the clarity can be instilled to eliminate the delusions and engage more in Dharma practice and Dharma works until achieving the realization of emptiness, higher attainments and eventually gaining the enlightenment to become Buddha. No sentient beings should be ignored or left behind from receiving the blessing from the Three Jewels as the cycle of sufferings will never end if one continues to dwell in the delusion of samsara.

    Thank you with folded hands,
    kin hoe

???Thank you Rinpoche, the team and sponsored for having medicine Buddha and healing fountain.

Indeed fortunate to have in at KFR and may it benefit more people and lead them to dharma.

  13. Yee Yin on Sep 10, 2018 at 9:55 pm

Wow, a healing fountain is now available in Kechara Forest Retreat, what a great news. Kechara Forest Retreat is highly energised with holy and sacred energy as Tsem Rinpoche and many other high lamas have performed countless pujas here. With the new healing fountain, visitors can bring home the holy healing energy in a bottle.

We are extremely lucky in Malaysia because Tsem Rinpoche has built KFR for the public to come and collect merits and to heal. Nowadays, materially we are very comfortable, but many of us are also not well emotionally or mentally due to the pressure from our daily life. Of course, more and more people are also affected by physical illness.

The divine power does exist if we have faith. When we pray to the Buddha sincerely for the benefit of others, he will help provided we have the karma to be helped. Therefore, it is very important to create the karma. We can start to create this karma by coming to KFR to make offering regularly and learn to be generous. When we give without condition, things will somehow come back to us.

  14. Chris on Sep 10, 2018 at 9:22 pm

Thank you, Rinpoche for the healing fountain in Kechara Forest Retreat. With this latest addition to Kechara Forest Retreat, many will be benefited by this healing water. Rinpoche had always said that Kechara Forest Retreat will be a place of healing always. Those who come here will heal mentally and physically.

Many have come to Kechara Forest Retreat with their illness in the seek for hope and a positive outcome for their body. This water will help them tremendously by healing their troubled minds worrying over their sickness and heal their body as well.

May those who come to Kechara Forest Retreat be healed of their problems and suffering.

  15. Sofi on Sep 9, 2018 at 9:24 pm

This Medicine Buddha healing fountain is so needed in these times of so much pollution and people getting sick so easily. Everyone will surely know a few persons of terminal illness. Illness also seem to take longer to heal too. I am sure that this highly blessed healing fountain will be one of the major attraction not to be missed by all the visitors. As with Tsa Tsa Ong’s comment, miracles are already happening. Rinpoche always puts his care into action to benefit others and its powerful teaching for us to follow. Thank you Rinpoche.

  16. Pastor Han Nee on Sep 9, 2018 at 9:13 pm

A Medicine Buddha shrine, in the Kechara Forest Retreat – a sanctuary of peace , highly charged with positive energies of healing – with a healing fountain whose water is energised by crystals consecrated by Dorje Shugden and blessed by great Masters , including Gangchen Rinpoche, the emanation of Medicine Buddha!

The benefits of the healing water are manifold. Besides its power of healing both humans and animals of disease, for humans, there is healing of the mind and purification of negativities. For the dying , partaking of this water prepares him or her for the final journey. For dying animals, it will implant seeds of dharma that will open up in future lives.
Recently, when my husband and I went on a short pilgrimage to the holy shrines of Kechara Forest Retreat, we visited this shrine of sacred blessed Medicine Buddha.

Offering light, praying, chanting mantras and circumambulating, and afterwards partaking of the holy healing water, I was overwhelmed by a powerful feeling of healing and peace. Chanting His sacred mantra and engaging in the weekly Kechara House Medicine Buddha puja seemed to come together here and resonate within me in that one moment!

  17. Sharon Ong on Sep 9, 2018 at 5:14 pm

The Healing Water is truly powerful. Besides a few healing stories that I have heard, I have personally witnessed how a splash of this blessed water has healed my older son’s eczema that was bugging him for some weeks now. He showed me the day after he splashed some on his neck and true enough, his skin looks normal without any traces of eczema.

We are indeed very fortunate to have this right here in Malaysia. The Healing Water is powerful due to the blessed semi-precious stones that were blessed by HE Gangchen Rinpoche who is none other than Medicine Buddha himself.

Thank you, Rinpoche and everyone who made this possible.

  18. Jacinta on Sep 9, 2018 at 4:04 pm

Medicine Buddha ~ definitely on my Bucket list for pilgrimage and circumambulation. Will recommend others to look out for this spot and also to invite back the healing water. Absolutely essential for optimal healing.

Thank you Rinpoche and all Kecharians in making this possible.

I was eagerly looking forward for this auspicious event to be on the blog. And I’m very glad it is as I have a positive feedback to give from a dhama sister from Ipoh. On the Consecration of the Medicine Buddha Healing Fountain – 25/08/18 , KISG had a pilgrimage trip and my dharma sister was having a slightly bloated stomach as usual. She was a bit doubtful whether the Medicine Buddha blessed water is really effective? Anyway, after she drank it from the day itself until now her tummy has no problems anymore. And she told me she couldn’t believe it and asked me to ask my sister vivian to bring some back for me. Thank you very much Rinpoche and Kechara for making this Medicine Buddha Healing Fountain available for everyone ????

n their theoretical model, rudeness has this impact on our ability to think because it engenders negative sadness, anger. Researchers have found that common negative behaviours can spread easily and have significant consequences. The best way to avoid rude people is to meet their acts of rudeness with kindness. Exposure to neurotoxins in society is not new. Children today are raised in an environment that is much different from those days. Nowadays they are exposed to behaviours, profane language, hostilities and stress from which we adults, raised a generation ago. Studies have shown that children exposed to serious psychological trauma during childhood are at risk of suffering increased psychiatric disorders. Interesting read.
    Thank you Rinpoche.

They may live in large, luxurious homes and have or apartments, often in desirable locations and having personalized services. The fundamental difference in mindset between the rich and the poor is, the rich have understood a very simple principle money makes money. Rich people see money as an opportunity, while poor people see it as something to be earned. Poor people work hard for their money. It is the heart that makes a man rich. He is rich according to what he is, not according to what he has. Not he who has much is rich, but he who gives much. The primary difference between rich people and poor people is how they handle their wealth. My thought been rich in this world it is not what we take up, but what we give up, that makes us rich.
    Thank you for sharing Rinpoche.

Found this old post …disturbing. Having a name especially a Bar linked to Buddha to be disrespectful towards Buddhism. After much controversy the owner had it removed. The Buddha Bar located in Sabah by a young owner which opened without much thought had many people complaining. Later was forced to have its controversial name changed to ‘Peacock Garden’ and had apologised for the controversial name. As a devout Buddhist, the name ‘Buddha Bar’ which serves alcohol, is disrespectful to the revered Buddha.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

Siberia, considered the heartland of shamanism inhabited by many different ethnic groups, and many of its peoples observe shamanistic. Many of the indigenous communities reclaiming their traditional spiritual and healing practices . Interesting. Siberian shamanism is often called Tengerism, involves various rituals, including drumming, chanting, trance states, and offerings to nature spirits and ancestors. This religious practice has deep roots in Siberia and Central Asia in recent years with roots in the Turkic and Mongolic cultures. Many who have been live in a remote part of Russia, have preserved their shamanic traditions due to their isolation. Many customs of Tengrism are still been practiced where they emphasizes a deep respect for nature and its various spirits, including those of the earth, water, and mountains. They do believe in the continued existence of souls and the importance of honouring their ancestors.
Thank you Rinpoche sharing this ancient religion.

Everyone of us has an unforgettable different experience, a different destination and itineraries. The journey to Shar Gaden Monastery back in 2019, making offerings to the sangha , by the Kecharians hold special moments and memories. They were on behalf of His Eminence the 25th Tsem Rinpoche and Kechara in making an offering to all 650 monks of the monastery. On this fruitful trip the Kecharians had the honour to catch a glimpse of the normally-covered holy statue of Dorje Shugden . Awesome this holy statue of Dorje Shugden was handmade by HH Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche and HH Kyabje Zong Rinpoche. The team was also granted an audience with H E Domo Geshe Chocktrul Rinpoche. Having the opportunity to make offerings to the monks was indeed meritorious. Rejoice to them. Looking at those beautiful pictures paints a thousands words. Thank you Rinpoche and team for this sharing. Merely looking at it is a blessing especially the Holy Statue of Dorje Shugden.

Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly. We can’t let our failures define us. Defeat is not the worst of failures. Not to have tried is the true failure. Success is never permanent, and failure is never final. Failure is another stepping stone to greatness .Sometimes just reminding ourselves of the temporality of failure enables us to forge ahead and stay focus looking forward . Failure isn’t something many of us can handle gracefully. And even though we know it’s a common human condition, figuring out how to stay motivated in the face of failure .
Thank you Rinpoche for this profound teachings.

Finally HH Dalai Lama said we can practice Dorje Shugden. After all these years of deep frustration felt by the Tibetan people. They who lack religious freedom been denied and been exploited in all sectors of society. More than 60 years the Tibetan leadership has cause the sufferings of those in exile who had propitiate Dorje Shugden. Dalai Lama did reiterated although he recommended not worshipping Dorje Shugden as it is a personal choice and freedom. Interesting read.

Working in a private hospital before ,having witnessed many personal tragedies faced by the living and dying patients. Many of these poor people faced their death with fear, with misery and pain before departing this world. With the images of all these in my mind, on occasion feeling sad and grieve at times when those we have cared .But nonetheless we should recognise certain truths. All of us are going to leave this world at one time and leaving those we love. In the teaching of the Buddha, all of us will pass away eventually as a part in the natural process of birth, old-age and death and that we should always keep in mind the impermanence of life. Along the journey of life, we are reminded of our own inevitable ends in waiting and everything is a blip of transience and impermanent. Be responsible, good and positive for ourselves and towards others. This leads to calmness, happiness and an outlook which contributes to a calm and controlled mind at the time of death. We have to remind ourselves the importance of rebirth and taking time to prepare for their own demise before its too late.To cultivate the good karma, our good actions are an excellent way prepare for our death. Having lead a responsible and compassionate life and have no regrets when death approaches enables us to surrender without a struggle. The life that we all cherish and wish to hold on. We are doomed to the endless cycles of life and death, we should learn and practices Dharma teachings .We are given a chance in life and choice to determine our future, to determine where we will go for rebirth. Spend our time on earth wisely before its too late.
Thank you Rinpoche for this great sharing.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is considered the incarnation of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara and therefore he is an enlightened being. H H Dalai Lama has strongly discouraged the practice of Dorje Shugden worship within Tibetan Buddhism. Dorje Shugden is a prominent deity in the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism. Many highly attained Lamas have been relying on this Powerful Protector for centuries and even Dalai lama previously do propitiate Dorje Shugden . It cannot be wrong and its wrong to view it as a form of “spirit worship”. All his previous 9 reincarnations practiced with devotion, all of the Dalai Lamas teachers practiced Dorje Shugdan as well . The Tibetan community is torn over this issue and this has been the cause of much suffering and unnecessary prejudice. Dalai Lama is without doubt an enlightened being that surely cannot be tricked by a spirit. Dalai Lama did composed a praise to Dorje Shugden while at Dungkar Monastery . Interesting article , may more people read this and to understand better regarding this controversy. In 2020, the Dalai Lama made a Uturn by saying we can practice Dorje Shugden . Thats’ wonderful and relief for many practitioners.

Butön Rinchen Drup, 11th Abbot of Shalu Monastery, was a 14th-century Sakya master and Tibetan Buddhist leader. Butön Rinchen Drup a Tibetan great scholar and translator, known for systematizing the Tibetan Buddhist canon containing the Indian scriptures based on the spoken words of the Buddha. He also compiled the Tangyur collection that contains the Indian and Tibetan commentaries of these teachings. He wrote a famous text, the History of Buddhism in India and Tibet, which many Tibetan scholars utilize in their study till today. He remains to this day as one of the most important Tibetan historians and Buddhist writers in the history of Buddhism and Tibet. He was not merely a capable administrator but he is remembered to this very day as a prodigious scholar and writer and is Tibet’s most celebrated historian. After his death he strongly influenced the development of esoteric studies and psychic training in Tibet for centuries. Interesting biography of a great scholar.

nspiring a Tibetan Parliament representing the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism, spoke bravely for the need to stop discriminating against Dorje Shugden practitioners. Tenpa Yarphel, a Tibetan MP speaking confidently for the sake of Tibetan unity. Tibetans in exile have also been particularly divided over the issue of the two Karmapas and the very damaging Dorje Shugden conflict. For someone who dare to speak for the sake of peace with the intention of moving forward to a better future. Tenpa Yarphel spoke up against the continuing discrimination of people based on their beliefs. For over more than 20 years those Tibetans especially those Dorje Shugden practitioners suffered from the lack of employment opportunities to discrimination. A wise decision of Tenpa Yarphel speaking up the truth of the Tibetan sufferings. They are not allowed in Tibetan hospitals, or apply jobs in the Tibetan civil service or even entering shop or hotels and so on. Tenpa Yarphel’s statement, paints a thousand words of reality. A big hand applaud to this brave man .

Losar is the Tibetan New Year, a festival that marks the beginning of the year on the Tibetan calendar. It is celebrated among the Tibetan community all over the world recently. Losar marks the beginning of the Tibetan calendar year a time for family gatherings, religious ceremonies, and feasting because of its long history and rich cultural traditions. The celebrations will last for 15 days whereby the first three days being the most important day for them and widely celebrated festival on the Tibetan calendar. During theTibetan New Year, Panglung Oracles are known to enter a trance state, of the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. This practice is considered a significant part of the Losar celebrations within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, providing guidance and blessings to those seeking their wisdom. People often consult the Panglung oracles to receive predictions, advice, and blessings for the coming year. Dorje Shugden will also give teachings while in trance of an oracle.
Reading this old blog again where back in 2022, the Great Protector Dorje Shugden gave an inportant message to everyone of us. We should take it seriously practising good virtues, such as prostrating ,making offerings and practise the holy Dharma. Everyone should always be kind-hearted and doing our best to cultivate loving-kindness, compassion and bodhicitta.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this precious advices.

Pemayangtse Monastery is a Buddhist monastery in Sikkim, India that is part of the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. It is one of the oldest and most famous monasteries in Sikkim. It is home to Dorje Shugden, a spirit in Tibetan tradition. The monastery is one of the oldest and most famous in Sikkim. Pemayangtse Monastery in Sikkim, founded by Lhatsun Namkha Jigme of the Nyingma tradition. One of the earliest modern academic references to Dorje Shugden. Stunning sculptures, paintings and ancient scrolls can be found in the Monastery. Interesting story behind this monastery,as described by Lieutenant Colonel Laurence Austine Waddell a British explorer, collector and author. Through the years of travelling in India, Sikkim and areas on the borders of Nepal and Tibet, after doing research on Tibetan Buddhist religious practices he made a stunning discovery. He discovered that Dorje Shugden existence in the Nyingma monastery as written in his book, which confirmed that Dorje Shugden been worshipped in the Nyingma as well . Not only worshipped in the Gelug lineage but held prominence in the Nyingma tradition too. Interesting read.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

Find one of the most beautiful temples in the world in Nara, Japan. It is the 1,267 year old Todai-ji temple that houses a 15 meter Buddha Vairocana statue who is a cosmic and timeless Buddha. Emperor Shomu who sponsored this beautiful temple eventually abdicated and ordained as a Buddhist monk. Very interesting history and story. One of the places everyone should visit- https://bit.ly/2VgsHhK

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
