Wei Theng joins full-time!

Jun 28, 2012 | Views: 980

Dear friends,

Another wonderful and successful lady has decided to join Kechara full-time! Wei Theng is a devoted student of mine that has decided to opt for a spiritual career over her daytime job. Since last month, she has chosen to work alongside her husband, Lew in Kechara’s online-arm, E-division.

When I first heard of the news, I was so touched that I composed a poem for Wei Theng. I am very happy for her. Both Wei Theng and Lew has set an example that doing Dharma work is the way to go. Their three beautiful children will grow up surrounded by the Dharma, learning good morals and principles… and gradually becoming responsible citizens.

I have requested the Blog Team to interview her (see below). I thank Wei Theng for her support and care always. I wish her well and may she go all the way with the Dharma… May her work bring benefit to the countless of sentient beings out there.

Wei Theng, welcome!

Tsem Rinpoche

A successful corporate figure, a mother of three wonderful children and a supporting wife, Wei Theng plays many roles in her lifetime but she is one lady who never gets tired.

Ever since getting to know Kechara through her husband, Lew Kwan Leng and Liaison Phng Li Kim, Wei Theng has steadily progressed through her spiritual journey, volunteering as much as she can because she believe there is no other way than the Dharma. Notably, Wei Theng has contributed tremendously in the translation field, translating many of Rinpoche’s writings and works to Mandarin, opening up an arena for the Chinese speaking community.

Wei Theng first got curious about Kechara wondering how Datuk May Phng and Li Kim can give up their ‘successsful’ careers to do Dharma work full time. Then as her husband was contracted to work for E-Division, Wei Theng got more involved with the activities provided for example, Setrap Puja, Kechara Soup Kitchen and the Dharma teachings by Pastor Ngeow. Since then, she knew the work at Kechara was a very noble one as it is work for others.

Wei Theng was a Project Manager in the IT and telecommunications fields having  more than 15 years of experience before she joined Kechara, or more specifically E-Division full time. Her skills are abundant, making her well sought after. She has led many projects and successful recruited many new businesses for her company.

Being successful in her career, what made Wei Theng give it all up to join Kechara full time? In Wei Theng’s own words, ‘ I have been thinking of doing Dharma work full time for many years even before Kechara. I always have the believe that Dharma will benefit people and let them find happiness and I should bring Dharma to more people.’ Since the very beginning, Wei Theng has already knew there was no other way than Dharma but at that time she thought she could only do Dharma work if she has money and time.

It was only after she joined Kechara and seeing the works of Rinpoche that she realized that is not the case. The many people who have devoted their time and effort to Kechara was her inspiration to go all the way with the Dharma. Wei Theng wishes to be part of the legend with Kechara in this region especially contributing her skills for the manifestation of Kechara World Peace Centre and Kechara Forest Retreat

Working hand in hand with her husband Lew in E-division, this power couple is a great example that work can be more meaningful if it is work for others. Both were successful in their previous careers and now both have given it up for something they know will lead them to a better place eventually. They see the value in Kechara so have many others who have devoted their life to assist Rinpoche in his works.

Wei Theng has great respect for Rinpoche. In her own words, ‘Rinpoche has very big vision to spread Dharma to many people. He is compassionate, extra ordinary and loves everyone (regardless of race, up bringing, background and religion) and even animals equally with the compassion. He walks the talks and is really serious about Dharma practice.’ No doubt, Rinpoche is an inspiration for Wei Theng and was one of the main driving factors for her to join full time.

With 14 departments and growing, Wei Theng believes under the guidance of Rinpoche, Kechara is an amazing organization to be part of and she is definitely not missing the boat.

Flowers from Rinpoche to Wei Theng on her first day of work at E-Division!

I got to know Wei Theng sometime last year, and we have bonded very closely since.
She is so lovely, very hardworking, efficient, has a wonderful sense of humour (the times we just sat and laughed most happily), and what i admire her most is her sheer devotion and dedication to Rinpoche and to Rinpoche’s vision for Kechara.
I thank the Buddhas and my good karma in calling Wei Theng my dharma sister.

Another talent joins Kechara, if you meet her do speak to this very resourceful and capable lady. She is truly an asset for Kechara to have.

  3. Wan Wai Meng on Jul 19, 2012 at 11:41 pm

You have made the right choice, Kechara is the most exciting place to be now. So many things are happening as we speak. And it is a career plus we get to benefit others as well! Seh lends her deep knowledge in project management to the team.

Lew is one of the pillars of edivision, and many of our works revolve around him and his outstanding technical skills. When Lew first heard of Kechara and Rinpoche, he was actually part of a technical company engaged to revamp Rinpoche’s official website http://www.tsemtulku.com.

Along the way, as he learned and understood more about Rinpoche’s vision, he was inspired to join us to make the dream a reality. At this point, he wasn’t a student of Rinpoche’s yet, but he tirelessly gave us his time and skills.

As time passed, Lew understood the meaning of Dharma, and having received his personal sadhana from Rinpoche, he started praying and attending pujas, and the rest, like they say, is history!

I am very glad that Lew’s wife has now joined her husband in our Kechara family. Wei Theng is a very successful career and family woman, and very spiritual at heart. She is fitting in very well at edivision, and her skills in technical project management are invaluable.

This power couple is an inspiration and example to the rest of us who use family and career as an excuse not to do dharma and to do more with their lives. They show us that it is possible to engage fully in spirituality while keeping up in other aspects of life.

Congratulations, Wei Theng! And may your dharma career flourish and grow!

    Congratulations Wai Theng…

I’m very happy for you and your lovely family. It’s always great to have you and Lew around, of course your 3 lovely baby girls. It’s very not easy to see a couple, sharing the same faith, walking towards the same path nowadays, especially working full time in Dharma.

Working or to serve Dharma as a career is like a doctor, nurse, fireman or someone who are ready to sacrifice their own private pleasure or time for others. Most of the parents will choose to spent more time to be with the children or bring them to holidays. But this will not bring much benefit to the children. But by working in Dharma, both of you actually show them, life is not only enjoying yourself but help other to get the same happiness too.

Thanks for making this decision and show to other people or parents by working in Dharma, it’s not hiding from the society but actually face the society and help others to face the society too.

With three young daughters and a spouse already working full-time in Kechara, it must have taken a very big vision ( or someone with a big vision) for the future happiness of all,for Wei Theng to step out of a high-flying corporate job, into full-time Dharma work in Kechara.

I warmly applaud Wei Theng for the courage and compassion that she has shown in joining Kechara full-time.By your fine example, you will inspire others to follow your footsteps and become part of the fast growing group of dedicated Kechara full-timers.

Congratulations, Wei Theng! I rejoice for you from the bottom of my heart!Lew, you must be walking tall!

Hi Wei Theng, Congratulations!!! Now that you’ve committed full-time with your full concentration in Dharma it will bring so much more to Chinese speaking communities and country in the near future, so many people already benefited from this blog and other online material from Kechara. Nothing of this is possible if without the effort from Rinpoche and the guys from E-Division. Thank you.

  17. henry ooi on Jul 3, 2012 at 2:04 pm

I truly rejoice that Wei Theng decided to free herself from her own prison, the invisible prison that locks all of us in one way or another when we just work for a pay cheque, a year end bonus that is not guaranteed, name, position and power.

Now, she is free. Free to pursue, as what she says here, her wish to do dharma work. Sure, she has to have enough financially to take care of her and her family needs but she does not have to fight her way up the corporate ladder that has no guarantee that the position will be hers. And even when she gets the position there is no guarantee it remains. But in dharma work there will not be this stress even though there may be other obstacles but obstacles that are not insurmountable.

    Welcome, Wei Theng, to Kechara.

A look at their happy faces in their family photograph shows a happy and closely-knitted family. All their faces are beaming with joy, happiness and satisfaction, due perhaps to their kind generous nature of their great desire to do dharma to benefit people. Both husband and wife are highly skilled and abundantly qualified, and will be good assets to KH. As in their own words, they have been thinking of doing dharma full-time many years ago to benefit people, and deeply desired to be a part of a legend with KH in this region, especially in contributing their valuable skills in helping to manifest KFR and KWPC! Congratualions, may both of you be able to attain tangible, lasting and geniune results utimately through to enlightenment!

    Dear Wei Theng,
I cannot express how happy I am that you have joined our Kechara family in pursuit of a vision larger than life… We have done so much together from Asiaworks, to SYN and now Kechara… WOW time does fly.

Believe me, in doing our dharma work and flourishing in a dharma career, one of the first sign of merits is in our children. You will start to notice that our children will have a calm which is from within. They will still be monsters because they are intelligent, but you will see a calmness when they face situations like sibling fight, about sharing and also how to engage with you.

I look forward to sharing the KFR legacy with you, Lew, the girls and Kechara! More importantly, let’s blast the world with Rinpoche’s teachings.

She shows us the pre-condition to do Dharma is not having big money and time only you put in effort. To have more and more talented people joined, we will be able to help Rinpoche to spread the Dharma of Je Tsongkhapa to ten directions and benefit more.

To have your family members to practice together with you is fortunate, to have them work towards the goal of benefiting others is even more fortunate and happy.

A Chinese ghost marriage is a ceremony that unites a deceased person with a living or deceased person. The family of the deceased usually arranges the marriage. Despite its long history and unique practices, the original purposes of ghost marriages remain largely unknown. The ghost is a classical image in Chinese culture, have a history stretching back 3,000 years. This tradition dates back to the first Chinese dynasty, making it at least 2200 years old, while others even note that it’s roughly 3000 years old! Despite reports of it still being practiced in remote Chinese villages in China,Taiwan and certain Asian countries . Ghost marriages are acceptable and symbolic in especially in Taiwanese culture, with many social elements related to them. Interestingly enough Li Kim and team did a great research ,spoke to Professor Lin Mao-Hsien, a Taiwanese folklore scholar on these interesting tradition. Reading this article with a better understanding of the ghost marriages. The story of the man by the name Wu Wen-Da, who had been dreaming about a dead woman named Zheng Su Mei truly interesting.
Thank you Rinpoche and Li Kim .

Interesting account of the investigation of Supiyati an Indonesian woman’s body filled with needles, nails, and wires.
After many efforts to find a cure in their hometown never found any success, Dark Magic is an incredibly powerful form of witchcraft that draws on malevolent powers.Black magic is a belief system that is not supported by scientific evidence. However, psychologists and neuroscientists have studied magic to understand how it affects people’s perceptions and beliefs. Regardless of the path forward, the study and understanding of black magic will undoubtedly remain a subject of enduring fascination and scholarly inquiry.

The basis of the Buddha’s teaching is to be found in the Four Noble Truths. The Buddha teachings describe the nature of suffering and the path to its end. Suffering is unavoidable and affects everyone. Craving and ignorance lead to suffering. Whatever we do have consequences, so living in a way that minimizes harm can prevent future pain. Good to cultivate good qualities and abandoning non-virtuous thoughts and actions. Abandoning dishonest livelihood and living a life of right livelihood. Being kind and compassionate towards oneself and others. The Fourth Noble Truth is the truth of the Path that leads to the cessation of suffering.
Thank you Rinpoche and Genla for this profound teachings.

Dorje Shugden is a protector in Tibetan Buddhism, originally a minor protector in the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism. Later adopted by the Gelug school. Has been worshipped throughout history by several schools of Tibetan Buddhism. As a wrathful manifestation of Manjushri, the Wisdom Buddha, who grants wisdom, clarity, and concentration. A protector who fulfils wishes and prayers, brings material resources, healing, and protects from harm to those who sincerely rely on. Also helps us to clear obstacles, and attracts opportunities for success, growth and in many ways. Many practitioners have benefited ultimately for helping them stay on the spiritual path. Rely on Dorje Shugden consistently over times, we will see his graceful yet powerful assistance in our lives. The prayers is indeed very powerful and have me change my life.
Thank you Rinpoche for this simplified daily prayer. Easy and convenient for everyone.

The art and science of asking questions is the source of all knowledge. Part of being successful is about asking questions and listening to the answers. Asking questions is the first way to begin change. Knowledge shared is knowledge squared. A great way to learn by reading and asking various enlightened aspects of Tsongkapa. I am still learning even I have revisit this blog on and off. Still trying to remember names of great lamas.

Thangka serve as important teaching tools depicting the life of the Buddha, various influential lamas and other deities and bodhisattvas. Thangkas have also traditionally been used as a teaching tool. Tsem Rinpoche received a precious and beautiful gift of Vajrayogini from Ms. Wahyu. Born in 1905 in the village of Nangsang in the Kham province of eastern Tibet HH Kyabje Zong Rinpoche was a master of philosophical debate. He was a powerful Tantric practitioner, well known throughout the three great Gelug monasteries of central Tibet. Wow in an early stage of his childhood he performed various magical miracles such as able to invoke a female naga goddess in a nearby lake. A master of sutra and tantra, H H Kyabje Zong Rinpoche had performed countless holy deeds and gave thousands of Dharma teachings during his lifetime. A biography of a great Master who possessed an extraordinary memory and was renowned for healing activities. Zong Rinpoche was the Guru of many great masters. Interesting read of all the miraculous stories of Kyabje Zong Rinpoche.

All thanks to our Guru that we are given a chance to get connected to the Sublime Queen, Vajra Yogini and collect merits along the way. The idea of making real gold-paint offerings to Vajra Yogini in KFR is indeed awesome for everyone. In Buddhism, symbolic offerings are made to the Triple Gem, giving rise to contemplative gratitude and inspiration. Making offerings to the Buddhas are acts of generosity and therefore highly meritorious.

ndia is a land of diverse cultures, traditions, and spiritual practices. They allow religious freedom among its most enigmatic and intriguing spiritual sects are the Aghoris, a group of ascetics who are often surrounded by mystery, fear, and fascination. But the Tibetan leadership creates religious differences leading to discrimination, violence, hatred and bias against Shugden practitioners. Everyone has their rights to choose and practice whatever they want. The ban of Dorje Shugden is therefore unnecessary and illogical . In recent years religious freedom has improves.
Interesting blog of a sect of ascetic sadhus who practice a unique and extreme form of Hinduism. They are the only surviving sect of the Kapalika tradition, a Tantric form of Shaivism originated in Medieval India. The Aghoris are a fascinating and mysterious group of Hindu ascetics, who have a distinct and radical approach to spirituality. They are known for their bizarre and unconventional rituals. They live in cremation grounds, smearing ashes on their bodies, using human skulls as utensils, and eating flesh from human corpses. Aghoris are Hindu devotees of Shiva the god of destruction and transformation, and they seek to attain liberation from the endless cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. They see themselves as healers, both of the body and the soul. Many believe that their intense penance and devotion give them extraordinary powers. They engage in practices that challenge conventional ideas of purity, such as meditating in cremation grounds, consuming what others deem inedible, and embracing what society often shuns.
Thank you Rinpoche for this interesting sharing.

Saying thank you and showing our gratitude with a handwritten message can make all the difference in our life.At times, when our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has reason to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us. None of us who achieves success without the help of others. The wise and confident acknowledge is this help with gratitude. Let us rise up and be thankful. Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul. Its gratitude that helps us to grow and expand . And also gratitude brings joy and laughter into our life and into the lives of all those around us. Spiritually it unlocks the fullness of life and turning what we have into enough in life.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

Find one of the most beautiful temples in the world in Nara, Japan. It is the 1,267 year old Todai-ji temple that houses a 15 meter Buddha Vairocana statue who is a cosmic and timeless Buddha. Emperor Shomu who sponsored this beautiful temple eventually abdicated and ordained as a Buddhist monk. Very interesting history and story. One of the places everyone should visit- https://bit.ly/2VgsHhK

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer
