Government joins Kechara
Not only does KSK provide 1,800 packets of food to the homeless every week, laundry services, job placement services, light medical services… but from yesterday onwards, Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) will also be collaborating with the National Anti-Drug Agency of Malaysia!
Known as PERSADA (Persatuan Rakan Anti Dadah Malaysia), officers from the National Anti-Drug Agency will station themselves at KSK every Thursday to provide counseling services to drug addicts and to also provide medical treatment. For KSK’s clients who are willing, PERSADA will also provide rehabilitation services for them.
Yesterday was the first time officers from the National Anti-Drug Agency Officer’s visited KSK to offer their services. It turned out to be a successful one as 5 KSK clients decided to stay at the Anti-Drug Agency’s facility for 6 months to undergo rehabilitation! It is wonderful to see KSK working together with our Malaysian government agencies to benefit those who are less fortunate.
KSK has taken this initiative to better the lives of their clients. It is really great to see KSK living up to their promise of taking the homeless off the streets and nurturing them to re-enter society.
Do support KSK in any way you can – they will only go from strength to strength!

This is a great news!Congratulations and rejoice to Dato Ruby and team.
Given the amount of resources available to the Government it is very conscious of the government to get involved with KSK. I think they will be able to serve much better the homeless in KL>.
Just an update on this. I visited AADK last week to learn more about their programme and how our boys who checked themselves in afew weeks ago are doing. I have only good news to share! The setup was more like a home than a rehabilitation centre. The community there is very supportive of each other. They cook, watch tv, play table tennis, do their own laundry. The officers are warm and caring. I commend our government’s effort in using this new approach in helping the drug addicts clean up and then integrating back to society. This comes under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Well done. Kechara is proud to be your working partner in this initiative!
This is very excited the expertise from PERSADA to Joins Kechara activities , it mean that KSK has moving forward to another level , I am believe that the drug addicts will be get back to their normal life again ! Well Done !
I think this is totally wonderful. To get drug addicts for rehabilitation definitely requires experts who are highly trained in talking and convincing them to go for help. Being in an environment where they are used to – KSK premises and caring people, it’s a good combination factor for positive results. It’s not surprising if more will be willing. How doors open up from one to another. It’s amazing.
I am v happy to see that KSK has extended their effort to another group of the less fortunate people. Great work!
Congratulations to the KSK team. Your hard work has attracted the attention of government to lend a helping hand to solve our social problem on drug addicts. Good luck to KSK clients that accepted the medical assistance from PERSADA.
Good!! Super glad to hear that.
Last time, they used to drive and sent the clients to rehab center, now the rehab center people come. Must be planted good action seed before. =)
Wow! KSK is very popular to our government departments now even Anti-Drug Agency comes to KSK weekly to provide counselling to drug addicts and also light medical service and this will definitely benefit more and more people. KECHARA boleh!
Go KSK and gambatte to the (former) drug addicts who are seeking treatment!
Four years ago when this new committee took office, Rinpoche advised that we MUST have our own building. Four years on, with the facilities such as laundry, dining area, medical room, etc that we are able to provide to the less fortunate, Kechara has reached out and helped so many. If it was not for this permanent building, the officers would not have been able to counsel the drug addicts in a conducive environment, gain their trust and take them away for professional help. It was because of Rinpoche’s vision that Kechara is able to do all these today. Thank you Rinpoche!
Another Great work for KSK, congratulation!
Congratulations to Dato Ruby and team for your selfless love towards the homeless.Great news and may KSK continue to grow.Rejoice!
It is good that KSK is another premise where people who need help are accorded accordingly. Credit goes to the whole KSK team!
Cool! More people are benefited by KSK. Hope this will attract more sponsors and support from all aspects for KSK to reach out to more. Great job KSK!
Our KSK activities are growing with Government. This is great!
A very positive step in the right direction. Establishing rapport with the government will help KH to achieve many of its ambitious plans in the future.
Well done KSK !! You have never stopped to find new ways to help the homeless . The care you have shown to them means a great deal . Many of them cannot find a way out . But your consistent efforts and ways will assure them there is definitely light ahead their darkness .
