Recognising KSK’s contributions to society, the Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) is raising funds to help Kechara Soup Kitchen accomplish its objectives and aspirations during a charity dinner to be held on July 15.
Themed “Timber Industry With A Heart”, the dinner also intends to raise funds for Childline Malaysia, a national public safety project that aims to protect and safeguard children’s interests.
Last night, I received mms updates from Liaison Sharon Saw during the dinner.
Dear Rinpoche,
I’m at the Malaysian Timber Council annual dinner which is contributing to KSK tonight.
This is the KSK stand at Mandarin Oriental. Justin, Khor and Joyce Leong are manning the stand.
Joyce has been volunteering for KSK since March. She is a new member of KH, she joined 2 weeks ago. She reads Rinpoche’s blog everyday. She says it’s fantastic!
Ruby has just received a cheque of RM75k from Malaysian Timber Council. The cheque was presented by The Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, YB Dato’ Hamzah Zainudin, who is the guest of honour, and MTC CEO Mr Cheah Kam Huan.
There are 51 tables of timber industry and finance people here. Ruby is now giving a speech, explaining how KSK is inspired by Rinpoche.

Kechara Soup Kitchen started out from 20 packets of halal food bought from a mamak store given out to the homeless in Bukit Bintang 4 years ago, until today 850 packets of vegetarian food are given away weekly, I would like to thank Ruby and all my team members, all of our very kind volunteers who come every weekend no matter rain or shine, our media friends who have brought KSK to the public, our sponsors who have given us support in their many own ways. Without everyone here, KSK could not be brought to this level. Together we can change people’s lives.
Dear Andrew,
On behalf of those on the street, I wish to thank you for helping to collect donation from your guests during KWPC dinner on Sunday 18th July 2010.
Sincerely Yours,
Siong Woan
It’s such wonderful news to know that yet another corporate company had recognized the hard work of KSK and had so generously donated to show their support.
Kudos to the hardworking and dedicated team that makes KSK one of the most recognized NGO that has contributed so much to the society and benefited so many homeless and the needy.
This gesture was really fantastic of the Malaysian Timber Council to recognise that Hunger truly knows no barriers! What a progressive company to support this very worthy cause. It’s great when people are willing to step forward and support the people who need it most. Kudos all round!
Wonderful news yet again for KSK. Ruby and her team is truly and inspiration to all. We had some of our friends at the Charity Dinner last night at they were very touched and amazed at what KSK is doing.
One of them is Mr Martin Jones of Starwood Hotels who through a simple email had 3 properties of the Starwood chain (Westin, Sheraton and Le Meridien) contributed some vouchers (nights stay) for the event.
An example of how we can all do our little bit to help. No help is too little so let us join our hands in helping Ruby and her team fullfill Rinpoche’s dream. Let us all create the causes for bigger things to come like KWPC!
Love the new tweaking of the blog… much “cleaner” and absolutely love the “chit message”! How voyeuristic indeed (in a good way) hehehe
Much love
