A Beautiful Family
Dato Ruby Khong has been one of my closest students for almost 15 years now. She is a very strong woman, dedicated and kind… she never gives excuses, works very hard and always produces results. In all the years that I have known this wonderful lady, she has never given up on the Dharma…
Her devotion to spirituality has influenced her 3 beautiful children. Being exposed to the Dharma since young, Dato Ruby’s children grew up to be responsible and independent people – way beyond most of those of their age.
Both of Dato Ruby’s daughters made the decision to join Dharma work full-time a year after graduating from university. Now, Jean Ai and Jean Mei are both working in my Private Office, taking care of my personal correspondences and work. Jean Ai writes very well, manages her time well and is highly competitive. She is an all-rounded talented girl. Jean Mei at the age of 23 supports me for my blog work. Instead of partying like everyone else in her age group, Jean Mei rather take on the long hours for Dharma so that more people can be benefited…
Both are young and yet mature enough to understand the value of Dharma work. It is because of people like these that the Dharma can grow.
Dato Ruby’s youngest son, Clifford has recently gone to Australia to study, he is determined to become a pilot. I am so happy for him and I wish him all the best in pursuing his dream because I know he will be fine. He will go through problems just like any teenager… challenges in his career, financial, relationship and friends but he will be okay because he has Dharma. The difference is he will understand problems are inevitable, it is how we deal with it without letting it affect us or hurt others.
When Kechara first started out, we didn’t have much financial support or sponsors… Tibetan Buddhism at that time was very foreign to many of the locals here in Malaysia. We always have huge plans but faced major financial set backs… however, it never deterred Dato Ruby to work hard alongside with a few close students of mine, like her cousin Henry Ooi… with a good motivation to bring the Dharma to others.
Now, Dato Ruby is the proud president of Kechara Soup Kitchen, together with her 2 beautiful daughters, they are a walking billboard for the Dharma. They prove to so many people what Dharma can do for us and removed the stigma that we should only do Dharma when we are old and grey…
During Chinese New Year, I received gifts from the Khong family. A very beautiful Dzambala statue, Amitayus statue, Tsongkhapa and a Buddha Shakyamuni statue along with hand written cards from each of the family member. I decided to blog this to show others because I find this family very inspiring through their contribution to the Dharma. Her determination for Dharma and working for others alongside with her family has inspired me to write this post.
Thank you for the gifts, they have been offered up to the Buddhas.

An impressive family who contributed most of the time for dharma. Nice to know about Dato Ruby Khong and her supportive teenagers children. Besides raising up her family her contribution towards dharma was more adorable. Her strength and her willingness
to bring the Tibetan Buddhism to the nation was very lively.
Her strong believe in dharma has motivated and inspired her children and today they have been honored to be a part of Kechara family. Thank you for sharing the beauty of dharma and their thoughtful gift
what is so special about Dato’ Ruby is not her winning awards and being on TV and in the newspaper – i mean all that is wonderful, but what is really special about her is her love for Rinpoche and the dharma, which is reflected in her devotion. Whatever RInpoche would like her to do, she does immediately without question and is a fantastic role model for her lovely daughters. It is a privilege to know her and her Dharma family!
Dato Ruby
Always a pleasure working with Dato Ruby, she moves very fast, decisive and puts me on my toes, lotsa ideas and much resources a joy to work with.
Beautiful statues, Thank you very much for sharing Rinpoche. Then Khong’s family are always very inspiring 🙂
If I may say…we are very proud of Dato Ruby, for her contribution towards Dharma and Kechara. Dato Ruby is extremely warm and kind as a person and that makes her even more beautiful!
Dato Ruby给孩子做了很好的榜样,她的孩子给大家示范了很好的佛法里长大的孩子不仅不坏,还善用生命,利益他人和自己。
Datuk Ruby was one of the first few people i met when i first joined Kechara , and she made me feel so welcomed , she is so kind, friendly and so very helpful. All her children are absolutey gorgeous ; Jean Ai is very sweet , Jean Mei is just adorable and Clifford is such a wonderful young man. A most charming family and a great example of a family who lives their lives dedicated to the Dharma. A real priviledge to know the Khong family !
Dear Rinpoche, I am really happy you like the gifts. When I saw the Dzambala statue at our beautiful Kechara Paradise booth at Grand Festival of Wealth and Protection, I was so excited I grabbed it immediately. I usually do not like bling bling statues but I found this one to be so cool. I was eagerly waiting for CNY to come by fast so I can offer to you. Thank you Rinpoche for accepting the gifts and creating yet another avenue for us to collect merits.
Dato Ruby is always kind, smiling and friendly. And so are her kids… They are truly an inspiration to many people who know them. May their journey grow in whatever they are doing and be of benefit to all who meet them…
