A well wishing letter from a long time friend
Dear friends,
I received this letter from a long time friend of mine, Diana. We met in Los Angeles in the mid-80’s and have remained friends since then. She has always been a sincere and kind friend.
After reading her letter, it is safe to say time has not stopped her from caring for an old friend…

From Diana:
Dear Friend,
Hope you are well, you and I have certainly had our ups and downs all these years. I can tell you that I still feel in my heart the same closeness we had in our cozy Hollywood years! I compared you once to James Dean, he was a tragic figure, so much pain for some reason. I know you have some pain in your heart too!
We cannot all go out young and beautiful; so we must keep going on in case we are needed when we are older.
I wish there was really something I could do for you, you have done so much for me.
I want to thank you for everything.
Hope you get a laugh out of this little book
Happy Birthday
Love, Diana

Thank you for sharing this letter from Diana! She was one of your friends in Hollywood who was enthralled by Rinpoche’s love for the Dharma all those years ago and I very much enjoyed hearing about some of her adventures with Rinpoche, which we included in Rinpoche’s pictorial biography, The Promise (http://vajrasecrets.com/books/english-books/the-promise-a-tsem-tulku-biography.html).
In today’s materialistic world, one is really lucky to be able to find a real, caring and good friend. What a real good and caring friend is, is that he is said to be one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out on him/her. In simple words, most people withdraw their support to a person who is facing all sorts of difficulties and problems from all sides in today’s world. True and sincere friends will come in under such circumstances at all cause irrespective. True friendship, of course needs compromises, sacrifices and a helping attitude towards each other. But at times, this may seem too demanding and could be taken as wrong attitude and we should never expect too much to become too dependent. Neverthless, blessed are those who have got true and sincere friends like those abovementioned.
Friends need not be around us 24 hrs a day but be there whenever we need them…I am blessed to have friends like that…May they too have their happiness like me…
Friend don’t need to be by your side all the time or see them frequently. Once a while, they drop you a well wishing email or just a short sms, “Hello, how are you?” is enough to warm your heart.
Even email now is so popular and we can received news from friend within a second, I still prefer to received letter that using hand writing, its make me feel close to the person.
We met a lot of people along our life. Some remember us as enemy, some remember us as a kind person. Its how you want to leave the image to the person, how you wanted to be remember…
