Refuge Is Important to Some…
April 23 2011: Bryan presented me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a card. He wrote on the card saying that the gift was for 2 reasons:
- It has been one year since he has taken refuge with me – it was his one-year refuge anniversary
- A thank-you for a present that I had given him.
Bryan remembered how exactly one year ago, he had taken refuge as a student. It was held in Kechara House 1, and it was in the middle of a Dzambala retreat.
And 5 months later, Bryan joined Kechara Care full-time!
Since then, Bryan has grown a lot… both on his spiritual path and as a person. He has learnt a lot of Dharma through experience and it really shows through his actions. He cares a lot about others, and will stay up late working on various projects, including answering Dharma questions online, transcribing, organizing events, stock taking for the gompa souvenir shop etc.
The flowers were bought from Kechara Blooms, and were designed by Lili Ng… Bryan really thinks about how to support Kechara in all ways hehe…but what I find in Bryan is a warm, intelligent, sincere and very very very hardworking young man. I like to work
with Bryan. It is wonderful how he brings spirituality into his life at such a young age..it shows..you are never too young to start. What a wonderful person Bryan has turned out to be. Celebrating your refuge shows that you have taken this very seriously and it is precious to you. Good for you. Refuge is very important. It opens the doorway for so much more….good for you that you have your priorities correct.
Thank you for the thoughtful gift!

It is fun and good to work with Bryan! Bryan is such an inspiration to me. You can see how passionate he is for Dharma and Rinpoche. He cares about everyone around him and he does thing without complaint and black face. He works passionately and tirelessly, this is what I like about Bryan and I wish I could be like him one day. Thank you Bryan! It is a pleasure to work with you and even have you as my friend/Dharma brother! 🙂
Bryan certainly has grown up a lot since he joined dharma. He had always been inclined to dharma and even when home late, he would stayed up late to learn about profiles of various attained masters, the history, iconography, practices etc online…
In this life I am able to serve and be by his side to support him in his dharma and spiritual work… hopefully life after life he will be born close to dharma and eventually gained enlightenment. I am deeply honoured to be able to do this at least in this very life time. Who knows when my karma will lead me to next life?
I guess it is the same with most of us. We never know when we’ll be gone. Therefore start the cause now… If we love ourselves so much then we should start now…
Bryan is an inspiration to all of us – bright, talented, young, hardworking and full of humor! It’s a joy to work with Bryan as he is very sincere and makes you laugh always! I hope Bryan will inspire more young people into Kechara.
Rejoice for Bryan!!
I want to thank him also for being such a caring and smart person.
One of the thing that i appreciate very much is he will “baby-sit” me from my office to my car if i have to stay in office till late. Although it’s a quick walk but i know he stops his work for a little while for me, he always has tight schedule.
Thank you so so much my Dharma brother/sister!!! I have so much to learn from you =)
Yes, I agree with everyone that everybody loves Bryan. And Kechara has chosen the correct person to work full time in Kechara Care. He truly loves people and gets along with them irrespective of their age whether they be children young adults or old people. He respects them all the same and will go all the way to help. I have never seen him show a black face since the first time I met him. He likes to crack a joke or two when he sees you and always are happy and smiling. I still remember when I met him at a Setrap puja he said he is not committing himself to anything yet. Whether pujas or activities in KH. But will go around to find out whether this centre suits him. For some people it takes a long time for them to decide or even leave. For Bryan it may seem he is in the centre for a very long time even though it is only after a year he has taken Refuge. I think he must have a connection with Rinpoche in his past life and is back again to connect his relationship with Rinpoche as Guru and student.
this is so inspiring, Bryan is really such a nice person from the 1st day i met him during Grand Setrap Puja this year, he doesn’t hesitate to provide you information and even give whole lot of information about Vajrayana, iconography of Buddha’s, kechara house, and alot more during that event. Nice fella who feel comfortable to be around. 🙂
sorry, there’s a typo, on the 1st line. it should be “Such”, not the other words. sorry Bryan :p
Awwwww, how sweet!!
