Kagyur Rinpoche sends a letter…thank you!
Dear Beng Kooi,
Thank you very much for your letter and those books of Tsem Rinpoche, infact i am really happy that Rinpoche still remembers those precious time in the monastery. I am really impressed and fortunate to know about all the projects and work that Kechara is rendering towards social benefits and well being of humanity. Tsem Rinpoche’s Dharma book is really impressive, interesting and definitely help the younger generation in building pure mind and good human being. Please pay my heartiest congratulation to Rinpoche and all the members of Tsem Ladrang and Kechara. I deeply thank you all for all the good works and will pray for all the upcoming future projects.
Kagyur Rinpoche
(The Ladrang sent Kagyur Rinpoche- a friend of mine- our recent KMP books. We humbly offered it to Rinpoche and hence his reply.)
Drepung Kagyur Rinpoche, we had some good times together. Rinpoche is very intelligent, witty, funny and quick. And you can joke with him and he can take it. I remember all the fun times we had in the monastery.
Please support us so that we can continue to bring you more Dharma:

We all know, a true friend is hard to find. It’s not what we have, but who we have. Such a beautiful friendship and close relationship between Rinpoche and Kagyur Rinpoche who is from a different school. It does not matters much as what are friendships do not see the different in colours, race and religion after all. Kagyur Rinpoche who is a friend of our Guru been offered books , recalled the close relationship he had with our Guru. Kagyur Rinpoche reacted with a wonderful message reply sending a heartfelt congratulation to Rinpoche and all the members of Tsem Ladrang and Kechara’s good work.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.
It is always great to see Rinpoches are communicating with each other. Tsem Rinpoche always remember the kindness and friends no matter how “old” is the friendship. In fact, Tsem Rinpoche really appreciate the friendship with everyone. I find this attribute difficult to come back these days as gratitudes are lesser these days.
I wish one day Kagyur Rinpoche can come to Malaysia to visit Tsem Rinpoche.
Yes, I remember the stories that Tsem Rinpoche told of Kagyur Rinpoche and another Rinpoche and the fun times the Rinpoche had while in the monastery. Time has really changed things for the Rinpoche with their work and personal life bringing them to a rather divergent result. Nevertheless, Tsem Rinpoche has not forgotten friendships and he always does his best to rekindle them whenever he can and hopefully bring Dharma to all. I know Rinpoche would always want to encourage people’s practice.
I love it! I love the fact Kagyur Rinpoche treasured those times as much as Rinpoche did, and the fact that he is able to really rejoice and has no ego whatsoever about Rinpoche’s work. You know, with a less Dharmic practitioner, you might find jealousy or envy towards Rinpoche’s accomplishments but that’s not Kagyur Rinpoche. And to me, that’s a sign of a real Dharma practitioner…just happy that although we are from different schools, in the end we’re all after the same goal.
Very very nice simple and sweet letter!
It is nice to see a different Lama from a different school of Tibetan Buddhism congratulating and rejoicing in another’s good work! In this case Tsem Rinpoche’s.
This shows good relationship that creates peace and harmony which should be the way because we as Buddhist ought to rejoice in other’s good works and be appreciative that Dharma grows as that is the main important goal for every spiritual teacher and centre. It also makes us, Buddhist closer as real Dharma has no discrimination or bias views as we are all here with the same intentions.
Thank you Kagyur Rinpoche for your good wishes and message, though very short it sends a positive encouraging message. May your work flourish and grow to benefit many today and in to the future!
It puts a smile on my face to think of all those wonderful friendships between Lamas, Rinpoches and Sangha all over the world, just like this friendship between Kagyur Rinpoche and Tsem Rinpoche…. all these emanations of the Buddhas among us, literally hanging out together, having tea.
And these are never ordinary friendships. About 60 of us went on a pilgrimage with Rinpoche in 2006 to Gaden Monastery where most of us saw, for the first time, Rinpoche back in his “spiritual home”. For those of us used to just seeing Rinpoche as Rinpoche, here among all the monster laypeople, it was an extraordinary experience for us to see Rinpoche back in Gaden.
The joyful respect, friendship and humility that we witnessed between Rinpoche, the many high Lamas of Gaden and his fellow monks was a humbling experience. We saw for the first time what it really means to treat a Rinpoche (or indeed any sangha member) with respect and great reverence… which was nothing like what we had done. From old monks in their 70s to the young incarnation of HH Zong Rinpoche – the monks exhibit such a natural, spontaneous respect, kinship, devotion and love for each other. There was much to be learn just from watching them talk to each other!
