Creative and Edgy!
My tastes totally vary and I have a very wide field of interest. I like creative, edgy, not run of the mill, abnormal, arty, expressive, open and accepting forms of art, music, movies, pictures, stills, houses, ideas AND PEOPLE…… Everyday and normal ideas can really bore me.
I feel whatever we do WE MUST PUT OUR BEST INTO IT. Push our boundaries AND LIMITS. Don’t let others say you can’t do it.. and never look back and say you didn’t do it BECAUSE YOU WERE AFRAID WHAT PEOPLE MIGHT HAVE THOUGHT… Never not do it because it’s not the norm or it hasn’t been done before…. Creativity to me is looking at things in a way that is not just what’s in front of you. What can you do with it? Where can it go? Who can it affect? What else can we do with it? These are questions that pop up into my head when I look at anything and everything…
Ethan’s quite an edgy and arty guy…. he’s one of our POs and he’s unique. I am glad to have him working with me… we do things to benefit others he would have never thought of it in his days on the dark streets of Kuala Lumpur hunting, looking and searching in the past..hehehe… We can talk about a lot of subjects as he is very well exposed, edgy, arty and basically sharp. I like his creativity.
Well Ethan knows my hobby is movies and he found me some really cool movies and he made a menu also…. the menu of the movies is so creative, simple, well thought out and very expressive. I had to blog the menu and show you guys. It’s simple and made with so much creativity. I love it. I love the idea. I love the thought that went into it. I love the care that went into it…
Thank you Ethan… I love the menu and movies!!! I watched the Lagerfeld docu immediately!!
Tsem Rinpoche

Here is Ethan (errrm..great hair??) in a video..fyi, he is multi lingual speaking Chinese and English:
Please support us so that we can continue to bring you more Dharma:
If you are in the United States, please note that your offerings and contributions are tax deductible. ~ the tsemrinpoche.com blog team
It is just very sweet of him to use his talent to do such things. Using what he is good at, presenting as a very special offering/gift for his Guru. I am so happy for him. I hope that he will be able to commit like this in the future always, using his talent for Dharma works.
Ethan is so creative. From the menu to the video, everything is well thought out and designed. It showed how much he loves his Guru and the dharma.
Ethan is a smart and artistic person! I have known him for quite some time and I have always LOVE the way he dressed. It shows how creative and artistic he is! Therefore, I am not surprised that he did such a creative design for the menu. And I can see the effort he put in for the design. Good work Ethan!
Oh my gawwwd… this really bring back memories! WoW Kecharians sure have many talented, passionate people and well Ethan is truly one of a kind. He has that special spunk in him that makes him that extra edgy… and I truly truly hope Ethan will use this special talent in him to bring Dharma to others in a more creative style which I believe he will. The only thing one important thing required in this success is the guidance and blessings of the Guru to take it one notch better and it will make it complete 🙂 Keep it up Ethan… you are almost there! xxxj
Such a well thought out gift from a student to his Lama. It might not be much, but the effort and the time Ethan took to make this ‘menu’ is really awe-spiring. (awesome + inspiring) hehe
Ethan speaks mandarin really well! and David, i think you should just stick back to writing. =P
Thank you Ethan for being an insipiration.. and thank you for sharing, Rinpoche! =)
Ethan and David are so funny !
Nice layout!!! It might look simple but there’s so much effort Ethan have put into it. The font selection, sizes, alignment and placement of those pictures and last but not least doing the mock-up of the menu.
Ethan definitely very edgy & arty, you could tell it from the selection of his movies, mostly produced and directed by independent film makers. I’ve watched The September Issue and i love it very much although it is a documentary but i find it very entertaining to be able to know the behind the scene drama and effort is being put into publishing The September Issue.
The film also feature appearances by many well known and influential people in the fashion industry, from top fashion photographers to designers. Highly recommend to those who enjoy creative process and development.
Guessed it somehow inspired the Hollywood version ‘The Devil Wears Prada’
Ethan is a natural in front of the lens and seen here enjoying himself. He is young, artistic and wanting to do more. Kechara need more of such young people to share the Dharma in the city and in the mountains.
Err, David, you can do better than that
wow Ethan! I love your sleek white design for your Movie menu and it is indeed creative and well thought gift. Nothing makes Rinpoche more happy when we put in effort and thoughts into all that we do in the Dharma. I may seem like a normal act, but the effort that we put in goes a long way in changing another person’s life. Remembering the kindness of our Lama and transforming by making offerings to Him is by far the best merit as it is stated in the Lama Chopa.
I’m impressed with your busy work you still manage to produce such creative menu with details and care. I’m inspired Ethan!
Thankyou all! Really appreciate what you guys said about me. These are the movies that inspired me a lot, coincidentally the era that I am attracted to was the same era when Rinpoche was in the states. So I figure Rinpoche might relate closely to the scene and I am very honour to share my world with Rinpoche. I am hoping more and more students like me will join us because it is okay to be a rock star and still be spiritual hehe. 🙂
I love this Ethan!!!
You really put so much effort in this offering. You always have interesting ideas. The last time, when you knew Rinpoche was into Rupaul. You burned h-er latest songs in a cd and put it into Rinpoche’s car player. Nice!!
Ethan, wow!
This menu is a manifestation of your sincere care and love for Rinpoche and the Dharma.
People who take the initiative to create something outside the flow of things are those who actually ask: how can I do this better?
People like this are those who will make this a better place.
Thank you for showing us.
We can see so many wonderful, creative and funny people in Kechara. hehe… I enjoy seeing them every time I go gompa or ksk. It is just like my retreat center after a long day of samsaric working life.
Thank you very much Kecharians for making me “balance” everyday. haha!
With Love,
VP
Ethan, it’s so creative, both the menu – copy, design and the video 😀 You’re a natural in front of the camera too. You make Kechara cool! 🙂 (erm… I don’t mean other Kecharians’ aren’t cool. Just that Ethan does it better..) hehe..
Thank you for sharing. Its’ shows – the love and effort you put into Dharma.
What a terrific gift which is so well thought out! Ethan is so talented and creative, and such a lovely, warm and kind person too.. he is a great asset to Rinpoche’s private office. Rinpoche always brings out the best in people and then takes it further…
That is really cool, I like the description/graphics, and some of these movies are pretty edgy haha. Velvet Goldmine is a favorite, very similar to Rocky Horror and Suck.
Wow! This Movie menu is super cool!!!
Ethan is not just creative, he is very “stylo milo” too. He has a sharp eye for things and yes “edgy” is the right word to describe him, he is always at the edge as he is different in a very very good way.
What’s more, he is young, enthusiastic, fast to pick up things, willing to learn and fun to work with, I have never heard him complain. He is such a gift to the private Office for Rinpoche.
The care and love Ethan has for Rinpoche is all written over the “movie menu”.
Ethan, continue to be edgy, as it is so hip and cool, we need that for today’s dharma!
xoxo
This menu looks simple. But, is a “serious” product which show much loves and cares.
I love it! OMG Ethan Baby is full of surprises, I love him. It’s wonderful to work with him – efficient, full of energy and very creative, which is necessary when you’re working with someone as dead and unartistic as me. For someone who has been in Dharma for only just over a year, his contribution, commitment and care is tremendous. We need many more people like you, bebe. Time to emanate.
