Kechara Saraswati Arts is officially…open!
Kechara Saraswati Arts (KSA) had their official opening! Around 50 Guests started arriving around 7.30pm. There were some already there from volunteering in one of the many different activities KSA has…most were there to roll mantras for the new statues for the new gompa!! Hehe
There were finger foods of curry puffs, yam cakes, fries noodles, cupcakes contributed by friends of KSA. Friends and volunteers of KSA are very supportive of the department that they volunteer in. Paul Yap (Liaison and Head of Kechara Saraswati Arts and Kechara Discovery) gave a brief history of KSA and also thanked sponsors for the renovation. Datuk May Phng and Martin Chow were especially thanked for donating RM10k and RM 20k respectively, and Mr Raymond Chu for sponsoring a fridge. On behalf of KSA, Paul Yap gave them each a fruit basket for their generosity.
After the speech, the guests (together with KSA staff) all did the Lama Chopa together, where Tat Ming umzed. The Chinese Setrap puja group then came over from Kechara House 2 to do a puja. Guests expressed how much they enjoyed it!
Previously, KSA was located on the first floor in SS2…they’re now on the ground floor of SunwayMas together with most of the other Kechara departments! Kechara departments continues to grow..grow..grow!! Hehe

Kechara Saraswati Arts (KSA) was formerly located in SS2 and has moved to Sunway Mas so they can be together with the other depts nearby such as KMP, KC, KD, KIM, etc… KSA dept of Kechara is responsible for the production of statues, painting, sewing, repairing of statues/ thangkas and all Arts related work. It is under the direction of Liaison Mr Paul Yap who is very devoted to this dept. Go visit and take a look… it is very relaxing, very enchanting and very de-stressing to be in KSA. After work and on weekends, many people like to congregate to de-stress by art. It is located right behind the Kechara beautiful gompa on the ground floor which is very convenient…. KSA is open to the public and can walk in on working hours.

KSA is a very comfort place just like home very warm, many volunteer also very like KSA.
We can learn art at KSA, and help KSA to do some work , actually is very meaningful.
Today I walked into KSA after a long time…and WOW I felt so at home looking at all the Buddha statues… thinking to myself..one day I will invite many many of these wonderful statues home and give more out as gifts to anyone who feels the same. My favourite of all is Lama Tsongkhapa!
Kechara Saraswati Arts, which had its first base in Kechara Paradise at SS2 has escalated and heralded itself into the birth of an important new charpter, with its latest official opening of its new premise at sunwaymas commercial centre in December 2010. More than just an artistic vision, Rinpoche has conceptualised, and guided this Art & Dharma combined Studio, into the first South East Asian Tibetan Studio of its kind that will attract and bring many people into spirituality through arts. Rinpoche has reiterated with the sharing of his vision of how he hopes KSA can expand further to become a total “one-stop” centre for Buddhist Arts and will occupy an even bigger premise in future. Apparently, this studio has been reconstructed to make space for other different sections which include sewing of robes for statues, cleaning, painting works, flower arrangments and rolling and cutting of mantras, just to name a few. KSA makes a wonderful place for Artistic people to dedicate their skills to Dharma through Arts as volunteers, to benefit other beings. KSA is presently under the efficient leadership of liason Paul who is also looking after Kechara Discovery at its helm.
Mama and I used to go to the old KSA in SS2. It was very fun there. Then, KSA moved to Sunway Mas. I find it very convenient for Kecharians to go from Gompa, KC, Gallery or KMP to KSA now as it is located so near by now. KSA provides us with the opportunity to have fun while doing our favourite things and when we do our favourite things at KSA, we would be gaining merits. The things we like to do can become transformed to helping out Dharma centres. If you like to draw, you can go to KSA to draw Buddhas. If you like to paint, you can go to KSA to paint Tsa Tsas. If you like to sew, you can sew brocades at KSA.
My parents and I dropped by at KSA on the day after Tsongkhapa day and rolled some mantras. I find KSA “unique” that it provides us the opportunity to induldge in one’s hobby (e.g. painting, drawing, etc) and collect merits at the same time :D.
KSA definitely is a place to chill out not only for those who love arts but for everyone 😀
