Wow! This picture of Mumu is so adorable. It makes me wanna cuddle with him. Mumu is so adorable. Mumu looks a little fatter in this picture. He is thinner now due to his exercise and companions. He is never sad and is always in a great mood. He is always there to cheer anyone up. He can brighten the darkest of days. Mumu is the best!
Mumu is really such a special doggie… he is not an ordinary doggie. When he first came to Rinpoche, he would cry every night afraid to sleep alone and Rinpoche would have to him beside Rinpoche to sleep with him. Rinpoche literally changed his entire sleep area and moved downstairs in the living room to actually sleep with mumu and personally look out and trained him. Mumu also loves it when we do pujas and prayers. Whenever Rinpoche does tsog, mumu would always come sit next to Rinpoche very quietly. Rinpoche have told us before that mumu could have been a monk who broke his vows but because he has some Dharma imprints and merits, hence he has been reborn near a Lama, which is very fortunate for mumu. And when Rinpoche says this story, mumu would give a long howl. Amazing!
Mumu is really the most sensitive, human like doggie I have ever met, he really is smart and knows what you are talking about. He also has many complications about his health, his skin, his diet and this has been a huge part of our training in caring and being kind to others or those that cannot talk back to us to say “Thank you”. Mumu is really a precious Ladrang team member and we love him so much. To see more of mumu in action playing with http://blog.tsemtulku.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/funnies/mumu-camper.html
and here is a video on Mumu care… http://blog.tsemtulku.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/videos/mumus-care.html
Mumu is so cute in this picture. He looks a bit tired. He really loss a lot of weight now comparing to this picture. He looks so much thinner now. I guess it is because he is on a vegetarian diet. Hehe.
Same here. I love my dog very much. It is funny that any movements that she makes can be so sweet in my eyes – be that she is snoring away or gobbling down her foods.
I am very afraid of the day when we have to part each other, that will be my very sad day. She in now in her 10th year and can have another 5 years or more, or perhaps less, depending on her health.
I give her the best that I can afford, I want her to be happy.
Now the best part is the I will blow mantra onto her after my daily prayer and then put my prayer book on her forehead hoping that she can reborn as a human in her next life and to have the chance to meet dharma as well. She is wearing the pet pendant from Kechara.
Beside those physical cares, I believe spiritual part is the best that I am now offering to her, for these are not only for her present but also future lives.
I hope all pet owners can take good care of their pets. They can all very sweet darlings.
When I first saw that Tsem Tulku Rinpoche had a schnautzer under his care, I was surprised, I actually did not expect that a high tibetan lama would have a dog, let alone a schnautzer…
Then I thought there was actually no reason why he souldn’t, and that I only made assumptions as to why a lama should or should not have a dog.
I had expectations, and I had assumed, perhaps this was one of Rinpoche’s first teaching to me, not to go towards something or someone with pre-conceived idea or with assumptions.
I recall a quotation from Rinpoche in “IF NOT NOW WHEN”, that says
“ASSUMPTION CREATES WAR, CLARIFICATION CREATES PEACE”
Wow, and I thought that my assumptions were “innocent”… How wrong I was.

Aiyohhhhh look at his cute little face! How can you not want to give him a treat, or just let him get away with pure murder! Rinpoche has trained Mumu really well…I think with anyone else, the little monster would’ve turned into pure destruction – his cuteness will let him get away with anything! I remember Rinpoche saying that he put so much time and effort into training Mumu, so that when he grows up he is a good boy that everyone loves, and not scolds.
I think that’s another way we can show love to our animals, by training them properly. The problem is many people buy animals when they’re cute, and don’t train them properly. And when those animals grow older, they turn into absolute monsters so families give them away. With so many neglected and abandoned animals, it’s about time an animal sanctuary like Kechara Animal Sanctuary was established! ( http://www.kechara.com/animal-sanctuary/ )
Did you know that Mumu loves fruits and vegetables, and was on a long-term vegetarian diet BY CHOICE? He sure is one unique schnauzer. How many other dogs do you know who are Vegetarian?
Rinpoche has always encouraged others to adopt a vegetarian lifestyle and has even offered to make prayers and offerings for those who will commit to do so. Personally, I became a full vegetarian at the end of 2008 and have never looked back. It wasnt easy at the beginning because I still had cravings for some meat dishes. But its second nature now and I have no regrets.
Here’s a video to inspire you to become vegetarian too:
