A Treehouse That Protects from Air and Noise Pollution – Vertical Forest
A TREEHOUSE THAT PROTECTS FROM AIR AND NOISE POLLUTION – VERTICAL FOREST
This 5-story apartment building in Turin, Italy Is disguised in potted forest of trees and branching steel beams. Designed by Luciano Pia, this creation transforms Turin’s homogeneous urban scene and blows life into the residential building.
The structure creates a transition from outdoors to in, with 150 trees absorbing close to 200,000 liters of carbon dioxide per hour. Each species of plant has been purposefully chosen from plant life in Turin to provide the diversity in color, foliage, and blooming.

Other than being unique, the concept of the design and purpose served well with safe the environment and green the earth especially at city. It brings the whole building looks refreshing and comfort. I believe people who live in this apartment will be more healthy and jolly but I’m only concern of the maintenance on those plants in long run as the plants will grow.
Wow! This is amazing concept relating people and nature can live together. I found it very interesting about the apartment built, the vision of an architect is very rare, he was able to make a dream house reality for those who loved living in forest and breathing nature air with environment green.
There are some people who are seriously concern about the environment they are living, but not too many. I loved this unique house it extremely extraordinary, people don’t have to think of picking a tree to built a house. I admired the good thoughts, idea, creativity mind and intelligently design of Luciano Pia.
Thank you so much for the sharing and hope to see and hear the similar concept of apartment to be built in Malaysia soon.
Wow…..designed by Luciano Pia in Turin, Italy, an urban tree house which composed of a five-storey. The urban tree house was designed to protect residents against air and noise pollution……fantastic idea. This natural absorption brings pollution protection to its residents, which helps to eliminate harmful gasses caused by cars and harsh sounds from the bustling streets outside. I have not seen this unique architecture house before, my first seeing at one, look odd in a way to me, potted forest of trees and branching steel beams. I would prefer to live in natural forest of trees and greenery mountains behind my house.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.
This is really cool! Really very unusual and unique house design! I can’t imagine how the plants are planted this way. ?Must be very interesting place to live in. In the middle of the city and our own forest like house that protects from air and noise pollution. Thank you very much Rinpoche and blog team for sharing this very interesting ,creative and healthy way to live in ?????

Amazing place…. Victor’s Way, County Wicklow, Ireland, a garden built to inspire self-reflection. An unusual and quirky statues in a beautiful forest surrounding and very calming. Its was at first a meditation garden designed for those seeking some quality time out for contemplation and meditation. but now turned to a populate sculpture park. An eccentric garden of Indian sculptures in the green of Ireland dedicated to Alan Turing an English mathematician, computer scientist, logician, cryptanalyst, philosopher and theoretical biologist. The park is owned by German-born Victor Langheld , and those sculptures were created in black granite stones by craftsmen in India. Watched the two videos showing beautiful and amazing sculptures.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.
Bringing architecture and nature together is not something new but for this project, the aim is to be energy efficient. This building is designed to utilise geothermal energy for heating and cooling. It has system that harvest rainwater to water the plants and a natural flow of ventilation.
Trees and plants will grow overtime. You can imagine the building and surrounding greens growing side by side and soon it becomes a real taste of living in a tree house.
Very interesting concept, living in a modern city with lots of greens. So much thoughts and ideas have been put into this construction. Would be great to have such buildings in Malaysia and if more countries adopt this idea.
Nope, I have not seen this before in Italy. Although I’ve heard of Eco-housing in some parts of the world and also an Environmental friendly school such as the Green School in Bali, nonetheless this is the first time seeing an apartment such as this. For us it looks unique, however I strongly believe that this is the natural way of living~ Living in nature.
Thank you for sharing this here, Rinpoche.
