Protection from Supernatural Entities When Sleeping
His Holiness Kyabje Zong Rinpoche was an erudite monk who was very learned in the scriptures, a top debate master, accomplished artist, an expert in rituals to benefit others, a meditation siddha, psychic, clairvoyant, divination expert and an expert in the paranormal. He was consulted many thousands of times by people from around the world who had paranormal and supernatural afflictions.
Every night before His Holiness Kyabje Zong Rinpoche went to sleep, he would offer black tea (serkym) with prayers to his personal protector Dorje Shugden whom he relied on and practised for his entire life. The serkym offering took around 10 minutes each night; I would prepare the serkym tea and bring it up to him. Upon completing his offering of serkym tea and prayers, he would immediately go to sleep. He said that at night, psychic attacks are more frequent from negative supernatural entities and people are more susceptible and more open to it when sleeping. Thus I understood why he gave the example of praying and offering black tea to his protector Dorje Shugden nightly just before sleeping. He was advising us to do the same to protect ourselves as we slept, so we can have a restful sleep.
When we sleep, our subconscious is wide open. It is easy for something supernatural to enter into our perception to make contact. It is easy for them to enter our dreams and then, through that, enter our lives because during sleep, most of us are vulnerable. It is easy for harmful entities to somehow manipulate us and attempt to enter into our lives. Once they enter and they stay for a period, it is difficult to get rid of them. They find all types of methods to disturb us. Why? Because they are entities that died with much unhappiness, anger or unfulfilled attachments. Having taken a negative rebirth with much malice, therefore as a spirit they have the same motivation to harm. They are jealous of others. It is a continuation of the angry, unhappy mind they had at the time of death into their new rebirth as spirits.
In time, those of us who are sensitive and have been disturbed in our sleep, will not only be disturbed in sleep by them, but we can eventually be affected in the daytime when we are awake. In this video on paranormal occurrences, between 1:47 to 5:12 mark, they explain the same information that was shared by Kyabje Zong Rinpoche. I know Kyabje Zong Rinpoche is a master of protection methods from supernatural afflictions in the Tibetan tradition, but it is interesting that in Western spirituality, they believe in the same thing (that when we sleep we are very vulnerable). I see that Western spirituality has observed the same truths.
The Tibetan high lamas have known paranormal remedies for a thousand years now and in Buddhism, there are many methods to combat these negative entities. Tibetan lamas will not harm them but will, with compassion, stop or tame them to nullify or neutralise their negative actions. It is important to have a daily protector practice such as Dorje Shugden to protect ourselves in sleep, during the day, travel, when we go to negative places and so on. Many of us need it very much. We can develop a special relationship with this powerful compassionate protector Dorje Shugden daily and we will be protected or remove what is disturbing us in the supernatural sense. If our disturbances has been for a while, we need to be patient as it will take more time to expel them. In that case, we need to strongly propitiate Dorje Shugden daily and we will see the effects for sure over time. Dorje Shugden has various forms (Shize, Gyenze, Wangze and Trakze) for the various types of supernatural afflictions. Even in this so-called technological and scientific age, negative entities do exist and can still harm us. Computers, electricity, airplanes, cars, shopping malls, etc. do not make supernatural beings disappear. Kyabje Zong Rinpoche’s information shared with us is not for just a bygone time, but timeless and many Western paranormal specialists understand the same truths.

Dorje Shugden’s practice is really powerful and his blessings will come very quickly if we pray to him sincerely. During the night, we are very susceptible to psychic attacks or spiritual disturbances because we are sleeping. Hence, for those who are frequently being disturbed from their good night sleep, they should do what is being advised in the article which is prayers and serkym to Dorje Shugden.
If His Holiness Zong Rinpoche is doing it to avoid disturbances at night, I am sure that it will more than enough for everybody to do it. On the plus side, it is a very simple and easy to do the practice without much requirement as well as time. It is a simple yet effective practice for us to do.
Everyone should engage in some form of protector practice to protect ourselves during the day and also night. We have alot of negative karma that we had collected in our past lives and they can ripen depending on the conditions. It is just like a time bomb for us. Hence, when we do protector practice, the compassionate protector will help to delay the ripening of our negative karma and allow us some time to generate enough merit to lessen the effect of the negative karma. That is why Tibetan Buddhism put alot of emphasis on protector practices.

Thank you for giving us solutions to be able to defend ourselves when we are in our sleep.
I also realised when I did my prayers before bed time, I tend to have better sleep. I also made it a point to do my prayers each night when I am overseas as I feel “unprotected” in foreign land. Being able to do my prayers brings a sort of calmness into my heart, knowing the Buddhas are watching over me.
Will add serkym prayers for extra protection next time.. hehe..

Some are good but some are bad.

I also saw the video for paranormal disturbances on YouTube; knowing about DS and being able to rely on DS is truly a boon.
Before I came across this blog; I hadn’t been able to sleep for almost two years; I used to keep waking up at night – always suddenly – and absolutely terrified. Which was even more worrying as I didn’t know why I was feeling so scared. Aside from that, I was also known as the ‘accident prone klutz’ – as I was infamous for having a large number of funny [some not so funny] accidents all the time. Slipping over something, [even nothing at times], tripping up, falling down stairs…it happened a lot. These didn’t always used to happen – but they suddenly started when I was a teenager. I collected a lot of injuries. [thankfully nothing too drastic]
So, I came across this site almost exactly a year ago, more importantly – it was the DS page, I remember – and after reading it thoroughly, immediately felt like trying the suggestions.
And after doing the prayers provided here – I kid you not – there was a drastic improvement. I cannot call it anything else, and while doing the mantra, after a while, I actually felt things happen as well. Now, I do this regularly and even though it didn’t go away at once, it got less and less. If you do the prayers consistently, the results get stronger…I think [and hope!]
I now am able to actually sleep [yay!] and don’t feel scared to do so either.
[And also, I haven’t had a ‘funny’ accident or fallen down any stairs for almost a year now!]
