Short but important advice from Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche
“We were born alone and we will die alone. Yet even while alone we still have our shadow with us; and alone after death, our consciousness will still have with it the shadow of our actions, good and bad. By the time we are just about to enter the bardo, the intermediate state between death and birth, it will be far too late to begin our Dharma practice. But if we have already prepared ourselves, if we feel confident in our practice and know how to go to a Buddha-field, there will be no suffering in death.”

Each time, when I read some quotes/verses from High Lamas or Enlightened Beings, I felt emotional. It touches something deep inside. Beyond words.
Thanks to Rinpoche & His Holiness Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche for this.
Life is short, time is limited so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Be ourselves, we only live once , life brings us many joyful, sad moments yet it will be left behind as memories. Nothing belongs to us as we are born with nothing. Learning, practicing dharma is the best choice before its too late. Having found Tsem Rinpoche’s blog have me changed my life , learning from scratch .
Thank you Rinpoche with fold hands.
A good advice from a great Lama…… Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche.
We were born alone and we will die alone…..yes that true, well said by Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. Everything has the beginning, has the ending. Hence cherish for what we have and living meaningfully in life. Life is short, learning, practicing dharma and knowing is not enough we must apply before its too late. Do not dwell in the past concentrate on our mind the present moment as death will happen anytime anywhere. I have glad I have found Tsem Rinpoche blog , choosing to learn, practice Dharma , increase my knowledge of Buddhism is the best choice I made.
Thank you Rinpoche with folded hands for all the precise teachings.
Yes, as we recite in the Yonten Shigyurma prayer, “after death my good and bad karma follows me like a shadow”, so too as Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche says “after death, our consciousness will still have with it the shadow of our actions, good and bad”. Hence, it will be too late then to think about practicing the Dharma. We will be filled with regret then that we had not practiced the Dharma – if we had not abandoned the harming of others through our actions of body, speech and mind as the harm will come back to us multifold, according to the Law of Karma (Cause and Effect) and if we had not worked to transform our minds from a negative self-centric mind of self-grasping and strong negative delusions of hatred, anger, jealousy and the like to one of kindness, compassion, tolerance, patience, forgiving and care. With a mind in a negative state, we will go to further suffering after death.
On the other hand, if we had prepared for death by practicing the Dharma – abandoning negative harming actions and cultivating a mind of love, compassion and care to replace a negative self-grasping mind , we will go to a “Buddha-field”, where we will know no suffering but only peace.
This is beautiful dharma advice from H.H. Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche!
