Prayer by the Great 5th Dalai Lama to Gyelchen Dorje Shugden
HUM
Though unmoving from the sphere of primordial spontaneity,
With wrathful turbulent power, swifter than lightning,
Endowed with heroic courage to judge good and bad,
I invite you with faith, please come to this place!
Robes of a monk, crown adorned with rhinocerous leather hat,
Right hand holds ornate club, left holds a human heart,
Riding various mounts such as nagas and garudas,
Who subdues the mamo’s of the charnal grounds, praise to you!
Samaya substances, offerings and torma, outer, inner and secret,
Favorite visual offerings and various objects are arranged.
Although, previously, my wishes were a bit dense,
Do not stop your powerful apparitions, I reveal and confess!
Now respectfully praising with body, speech, and mind,
For us, the masters, disciples, benefactors and entourages,
Provide the good and avert the bad!
Bring increase like the waxing moon in spiritual and temporal realms!
Moreover, swiftly accomplishing all wishes,
According to our prayers, bestow the supreme effortlessly!
And like the jewel that bestows all wishes,
Always protect us with the Three Jewels!
(After reciting this prayer, one can conclude by chanting the mantra of Dorje Shugden as much as your time allows daily: Om Benza Wiki Bitana Soha).
His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama wrote this propitiation prayer for everyone to use after realizing that Dorje Shugden was not an ordinary spiritual being, as he had first assumed because of various good omens. He realized that Dorje Shugden was the emanation of Manjushri and very powerful protector that would benefit many beings. This short prayer is to invoke upon the powerful and compassionate energy of Dorje Shugden to give us protection, help, assistance, spiritual direction and wisdom. There has been many prayers written to Dorje Shugden by the great Sakya, Kagyu, Nyingma and Gelugpa masters. We can use any of those prayers on a daily basis to form a close bond with this very special protector who will become like a loving guide and father to us over time.
The Great Fifth not only wrote this prayer, but even crafted a famous and still-existing statue of Dorje Shugden with his own hands. This special Dorje Shugden is depicted riding on a horse as in the Sakya tradition. He also built a chapel (Trode Khangsar) in a prime area of Lhasa dedicated to Dorje Shugden which still exists today.
His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama composed a prayer, and also made a statue of Dorje Shugden as pictured. The great 5th was a gifted artist also it seems. The Dorje Shugden statue is now housed at Gaden Pelgyeling Monastery, Nepal. I had the fortune to have audience with this holy statue. Even the 5th Dalai Lama revered Dorje Shugden. The 5th Dalai Lama and 14th Dalai Lama are the same mindstream and both are Avalokitesvara. In that case they have the full power to perceive Dorje Shugden as a superior being and also composed prayers to Dorje Shugden. The 5th Dalai Lama also commissioned a chapel to be built in Lhasa dedicated to Dorje Shugden. This chapel still exists today and attracts thousands of pilgrims. It is called Trode Khangsar.

The front entrance to Trode Khangsar chapel in Lhasa, Tibet built over 350 years ago by the Great 5th Dalai Lama in memorial to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen and Dorje Shugden. This is just around 15 minutes walk from the famous Jowo Rinpoche statue in Central Cathedral of Lhasa. Since this photo, Trode Khangsar has been renovated and greatly enlarged as there are hundreds of pilgrims per day visiting and making prayers to Dorje Shugden from all over Tibet. Powerful prayer to Dorje Shugden composed by the H H the 5th Dalai Lama which been used till to this day. Dorje Shuden is an emanation of Manjushri and an enlightened Dharma Protector. And has been propitiated by many highly attained Lamas for centuries . They cannot be wrong. The 5th Dalai Lama not only composed this prayer to Dorje Shugden, he even handmade a statue of Dorje Shugden and built a chapel ,Trode Khangsar, which still exist at Lhasa, Tibet. Trode It was built to commemorate to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen who was wronged and arose as the World Peace Peace Protector Dorje Shugden. This prayer is amazing as it invoke the powerful energy of Dorje Shugden to help us regardless of race and faith . Thousands and many people has seem benefited from their practice of Dorje Shugden.

Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen and the 5th Dalai Lama were very close to each other. They were both the students of the 4th Panchen Lama. Both of them were very famous and many people came to receive teachings and blessings from them. In fact, Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen’s received more students than the 5th Dalai Lama.
The students and assistants of the 5th Dalai Lama felt threatened by the popularity of Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen, so they plotted and murdered Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen. The consciousness of Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen arose as Dorje Shugden and was first enthroned as a Dharma protector in Sakya lineage. In the beginning, the 5th Dalai Lama thought Dorje Shugden was an evil spirit. But after many failed attempts to destroy and subdue Dorje Shugden, the 5th Dalai Lama realised Dorje Shugden is an emanation of Buddha Manjushri, so he wrote this prayer to Dorje Shugden.
A high lama such as the 5th Dalai Lama cannot be wrong, he definitely had the clairvoyance to know whether Dorje Shugden is a Buddha or a spirit. Besides, he was not the only high lama who wrote prayers to Dorje Shugden, other high lamas such as the Panchen Lama, Trijang Rinpoche, Pabongka Rinpoche and lamas of Sakya lineage also wrote prayers to Dorje Shugden. This says a lot about the enlightened quality of Dorje Shugden.
This prayer by the 5th Dalai Lama to Dorje Shugden is meant for everyone to recite daily to invoke his blessings, guidance and protection. It clearly shows that the 5th Dalai Lama was fully convinced that Dorje Shuden is an emanation of Manjushri and that he is a supramundane Dharma Protector who would benefit everyone who propitiated him. Not only did the 5th Dalai Lama write this prayer to Dorje Shugden, but he also crafted a statue of him with his own hands Last but not least, he also built the chapel ,Trode Khangsar, to honour him.
The fact that both the 5th Dalai Lama and the 14th Dalai Lama, both emanations of Chenrezig, had composed prayers to Dorje Shugden , should leave no doubt in our minds as to their firm conviction of him as an emanation of Manjushri and an enlightened Dharma Protector who is full of wisdom and compassion
