Underwater Mantra Stone Blessings
Mantras represent the blessings of the enlightened beings in the form of sound. When we recite mantras they stimulate the various parts of our body to heal itself, to clear itself, to purify itself and to gain higher states of consciousness. Therefore, mantras are very powerful. They can be written, visualised or recited out aloud. The mantras of enlightened beings bless ordinary beings, animals, ethereal or formless beings and everyone in the environment.
In Kechara Forest Retreat, Malaysia, we have a koi fish pond, on which sits a magnificent statue of Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom. When the fish circumambulate around Manjushri they are blessed by his divine presence. At the same time, people who come to visit the pond and circumambulate around Manjushri receive the same blessings.
Along with the Manjushri fish pond, we also have a lake in Kechara Forest Retreat. In the middle of this lake is a Shakyamuni Buddha statue. In both these places we have placed Manjushri mantra stones underneath submerged under the water so that the animals, humans and beings who circumambulate these holy statues, not only circumambulate the images of the Buddhas but also sacred mantras. The is done in order to plant the seeds of enlightenment in their mindstreams so that in the future they are able to realise Bodhicitta, the realisation of Emptiness and higher states of consciousness. So, I thought I would share this little video with everyone. Thank you.

Due to the kindness of our Lama Tsem Rinpoche , the underwater Mantra Stone were created at the Manjushri pond . The koi fish pond, where the magnificent statue of Manjushri. It is such a beautiful environment where visitors could visit the pond and circumambulate around Manjushri receiving the Buddha blessings. Not only that those fishes too are blessed as they swim around the pond with those Mantra stones in the pond. How wonderful all of us, we have Rinpoche to thank.
Mantras are very powerful as it represent the blessings of the enlightened beings in the form of sound when recited or can be written, visualised . All of us, animals, unseen beings and everyone in the environment will receive the blessing then.
Thank you Rinpoche with folded hands for this.
I just came across an article regarding Underwater Buddha somewhere in Bali. Mantra is a vibration that it is powerful enough to make someone to enter the deepest state of meditation. Thank you 👍for this article as I realize collecting merits is vital as it creates path to enlightenment.🙏
Good post. I learn something new and challenging on websites I
stumbleupon on a daily basis. It’s always
useful to read through content from other writers and practice a little something from
their sites.
Rinpoche always create and find all sorts of methods to plant dharma seed for all sentient beings and make sure we collect merits gain the path to enlightenment. Mantra stone is just one of the many ways Rinpoche has shared. May all be blessed by the power of mantra. We are so fortunate to be able to go to Kechara Forest Retreat because Rinpoche has specially conceptualised this place to keep the Lama Tsongkhapa lineage and a center to spread the dharma to everyone around the world. May KFR continue to growth and benefit all sentient beings.

Kechara Forest Retreat (KFR) is a gift from Tsem Rinpoche to all of us, actually for all sentient beings. This is a very holy place, it is the mandala of Tsem Rinpoche and Vajrayogini protected by the most powerful Dharma protector of our time, Dorje Shugden. KFR is built for people to come and get blessings and it is a place charged with healing power.
Our bad karma can cause us physical and mental sickness. Both types of sickness are obstacles to our spiritual practice. KFR is designed to help us purify our karma and to collect merits so we can progress in our spiritual journey. We can make candle offerings to collect merits and circumambulate the statues and stupa to purify our karma.
Like I mentioned before, Rinpoche doesn’t just care for human beings, he cares for all sentient beings. The idea of putting a statue in the middle of the pond and also the mani stones in the water is a good way to help the fish or other water creatures to get Dharma imprints so they also have the chance to practice in their future lives. If we have fish at home, we can also put a small statue in the fish tank to give them Dharma imprints and blessings.
Rinpoche is so kind to have placed numerous 9ft outdoor Buddha statues around Kechara Forest Retreat for us to circumambulate daily and collect merits. On top of that, Rinpoche also made mantra stones which can be invited from Naropa’s Cave to offer up to their favourite Buddha and placed them around or near the Buddha statue in Kechara Forest Retreat.
When more people offer mantra stones around a particular Buddha statue, when we circumambulate, it will be more effective. Why? Because each mantra stone represents the Buddha himself because the mantra is the manifestation of Buddha in the sound form. Hence, if the mantra stones are piling up around the statue and we go and circumambulate around the statue, it will be very powerful.
The whole place will be very powerful and we can get tons of merits and the person who offered the mantra stone will get tons of merits too! This is just one of the many ways that Rinpoche constantly coming up for us to earn merits in a short but effective way. Thank you, Rinpoche for kindness and compassion.
In the yogic tradition a mantra is a Sanskrit word that has special powers to transform mind, body and spirit. Mantras are very powerful when recites, chanting aloud, visualised , written or by listening to them.
We have beautiful statues of Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom and Shakyamuni Buddha residing in fish ponds at Kechara Forest Retreat. Hence placing Mantra stones into both ponds will definitely bless all the animals, human and beings who circumambulate these holy statues. Wow…..we are circumambulating. not only the images of Buddha but also sacred mantras . We are so fortunate able to be blessed not only one but two.
Thanks to Rinpoche coming with this powerful blessing for us. With folded hands, thanks again.
