Abby Foo joins KMP Full Time!!!
Abby Foo graduated from New Era College with a major in journalism on November 2010, and was supposed to further her Bachelor’s Degree in Taiwan in September 2011. Having so much time on her hands before continuing her studies, Abby decided to take on a job instead of letting that much time go to waste.
After spending 2 months in her hometown at Kuala Terengganu, Abby returned to KL to work as a sales assistant in January 2011. Not long after that, my student, Dr Lanse Chiah recommended Abby as a freelance Chinese translator in Kechara Media & Publications.
Although Abby had no previous exposure to the Dharma, her love for reading and writing made her accept the offer… and from March 2011, Abby started work in KMP on a contract basis.
Abby is a very bright student and she has a particular talent for debate. In fact, she excelled in it and represented her college and high school in several debate competitions. Some of her many achievements are Terengganu State Champion and Best Debater in 2007, and Best Debater for the 3rd preliminary in the Inter-Varsity Chinese Debate in 2009.
Although new to Dharma, the months that she has spent translating several of KMP’s books and videos have made her realize things that she had not thought of previously. Dharma has answered many of her questions about life and she now wishes to bring the Dharma to more people by continuing her career in KMP instead of pursuing her plan of graduating from Taiwan in the field of speech communication. What a wonderful motivation!
I’m very happy that Abby is going all the way in the Dharma by joining KMP as a full time staff, and at the age of 21, she’s currently the youngest full-timer in Kechara.
I wish her all the best in her Dharma career and may she fulfill her new found dream of bringing the Dharma to our Chinese speaking brothers and sisters. Thank you Abby for taking a ground breaking decision that sends a strong message to the world that life is not about acquisitions, but doing something good for others. So young, yet so wise.

How versatile, she can even model! Hehe
Abby is very close to her friends and I’m sure that they are supportive about the choice that she has made.
Abby is DEFINITELY a Kecharian hehe
This is Abby’s work space in KMP. I’m very glad it’ll be permanently occupied from today onwards!

Congratulations Abby on having a dharma career. It is very exciting and so much to learn and do especially a dharma career in the 21st century. Hope I can meet you soon when I am running around doing Ediv stuff. You came at an opportune time as a Chinese medium person as we have the Shanghai Kechara Tea House up, hence there is emphasis in building up our Chinese proficiencies and capabilities.
Abby is a small lady but with great heart. She’s smart and also very nice to others.
She can speak fluent mandarin, which she also help up in Kechara when we need translation. It’s not easy to see her walked pass without a smile on her
I’m rejoice for her, in such a young age like her, Abby actually let go of her personal time and focus to benefit others, I respect that.
How nice to see young people joining Dharma full time.
Many people said young people like us should go out experience life, then later consider to do Dharma work when we are “free”.
We will never be free unless we make time for it or make a decision to do so. In the end what we want? To make our life busy with car, business, relationship etc and end up we have to give up everything when we die? What we do are quite normal, marriage, get a house, have children, but all these everyone can do, even animals and we have done nothing that is remarkable or good for others too.
Being in Dharma does not mean we have to give up everything, we can still have it but our “work” are to benefit others, bring Dharma teaching to others.
How lucky we are to have been sponsored to do Dharma/Charity work. I congratulate Abby for making the decision.
Abby is so cute and so talented. The first time i heard her emceeing was at the Kechara Wesak fair. I was totally blown away. She just picked up the mic and speak so eloquently and she was good!
Then I realised at such young age, she was really good academically; then she started as a free lancer in KMP. The next thing i knew was that she joined full time! She is so mature at her age and able to know that dharma is beneficial and she chose to “be different” than her friends.
Imagine, her age group of friends are talking about cute boys and girls, relationships, career and money. But Abby is already starting to understanding life, embark on her spiritual journey, taking on the lead to benefit others. Imagine how she can help her friends with her dharma learning? Wow, what a noble move!
I believe very much that Abby ha made a right choice in life and she has set a great example to many youth around her age. A true noble soul.
thank you all!! :))
Another great asset to KMP! Welcome Abby!
I can see you can fit in Kechara just like a glove…..Fun, maturity, seriousness when come to work, and a strong affinity for dharma….you got it all!
I rejoice for you!
Welcome Abby to Kechara’s family!
It has been a great pleasure to have Abby at KMP. She’s young, yet mature in her thinking, and very open to learn. She is always focused on her work and meticulous… and she loves Rinpoche’s teachings! I believe that her core reason for staying is because the teachings make sense to her. I am so happy that she has decided to join Dharma full-time. She works hard and parties hard…. a true Kecharian! Welcome to KMP, Abby!
Welcome Abby 🙂
Welcome Abby!!!! It’s great that we have more Chinese-speaking addition to the Kechara organisation.
Thank you for sharing an inspiring story Rinpoche and she’s even willing to give up her own dreams (further education) to benefit others. WOW and she did this at the age of 21! How many 21-year-old does that?
