Is it easy to give a talk?
One of my student and Ladrang staff, Bryan, was invited to give a talk to the Chinese group at Kechara Sunday Service (KSS). He was invited to give the talk by liaison Dr Lanse, Abby and Anna Tan because of his good relationship with many of the Chinese-speaking Kecharians.
The topic that Bryan was given was titled “The Doubt of a PO”. PO (Private Officer) is the term given to those who work within my Ladrang, or “office”. During the KSS session, Bryan shared with all 41 attendees, 50% of who were new to Kechara, about his doubts on Buddhism, Dharma and Kechara when he first met Kechara. How interesting!
Bryan described Kechara as “The centre where all his initial doubts and questions were answered”. It was a very interactive session and the response was very good. Many of my students told me that the crowd loved Bryan, as he explained in a way everyone could relate to and understand. I’m very proud of Bryan, as he has absorbed a lot of Dharma knowledge since I met him 2 years ago.
Do watch the video below and see how everyone excitedly ask Bryan questions to clear their doubts, and Bryan patiently and accurately answer their questions. As you can see, there were so much doubt in peoples’ minds! This is not bad. In Buddhism, questions are encouraged. We all have doubts, we all have questions – instead of remaining doubtful, we should ask and find answers to them. Having these sessions is extremely beneficial for others, as Dharma is meant to dispel all doubts in the mind.
The attendees asked a variety of questions, with the new comers asking more general questions about Buddhist practice, and the older members asked questions about the ladrang, liaisons and many more.
Bryan is now training to be a pastor and he will make an excellent one because he has the RIGHT ATTITUDE to succeed in helping others. If you have any questions, do take a look at the Ask A Pastor section on the blog!

I remembered being one of the attendees, that time I’m still new and has no knowledge about Buddhism at all. Bryan does very well in explaining his adventure coming into Kechara. He’s funny and informative. From there I’ve come in and out, joining Dharma class occasionally and then Abby and Lanse from KMP have expressed that they are lacking Bilingual staff and was asking whether can I join. That time I was still thinking about and was in doubt whether or not to resign from my job. Then I join in as KMP staff last year September and by next Monday, I’ve been working and joining Kechara for 1 year. I have a long way to go and learn. Thank you Rinpoche and Kecharians for making this organization grow.
i wish it had english subtitles but still, all that Rinpoche said that uncle Bryan said is totally true. Kechara is where you can get answers and your doubts will be answered. not to mention all the good merits and getting to know the dharma. but sometimes it can be hard to give a talk, but not for uncle Bryan.
Bryan is a lovely person with great personality. I saw him in one of those KSS sessions in August 2012. The class love him. He will be a great candidate for Pastorship. Well done Bryan.
PS: shame there is no subtitle – would be great to know what he said and what were asked.
I don’t understand what Bryan is saying but i just wanted to say that Bryan is a wonderful person to work with. He has a lovely attitude and is mature, responsible and kind. Even though he is relatively new to Dharma compared to many people in Kechara, he has a lot of Dharma knowledge from working very closely with Rinpoche. And what is nice about Bryan is that he doesn’t just keep it as knowledge but puts the Dharma into practice. I’m very proud to work with Bryan and the other wonderful staff in Rinpoche’s ladrang.
Bryan is very sincere and knowledgable. He shares from his heart and able to touch people. Besides, he also will crack a joke once in a while to keep his talk very interesting. His sharing is very alive, simple, easy to understand and to apply to daily life.
Love his sessions very much and would love to have more of his sessions. He will surely bring Dharma to a lot of people. Rejoice Bryan. Can’t wait for you to be one of the pastors soon!
Bryan is relatively new to the Dharma and yet, his enthusiasm for the Dharma is easily felt from him. He has proven himself to be a loyal student and has surrendered to Rinpoche on many levels. I think that this is most beautiful for Bryan to be able to do this because he surpassed many older students like myself for his willingness to change and accept instructions and criticism. I think that is inspirational. I think that is beautiful for anybody to see and the very fact that he is talking in this class and doing a lot of PR work for Rinpoche is a sure sign for his transformation. Kudos to Bryan and to anyone else who would be inspired by this.
I remembered meeting Bryan Ho over 2 years ago and look where he is now. He is an unusually talented person, always pleasant, smiling, approachable, kind, patient and generous. We are proud of you, Bryan Ho and I would definitely attend your dharma talks, although I don’t understand Mandarin much.
Thanks Rinpoche for posting the video clip on myself sharing my understanding of Dharma to our Kecharian, It took me sometime to leave my comments on myself.
Actually by entering Dharma / join Kechara have really bring me a lot of knowledge that I couldn’t get it from anywhere else. The knowledge that I received from Tsem Rinpoche/Kechara is not arguable (trust me I tried to challenged it many times, but I lost), I think it’s because whatever knowledge that Tsem Rinpoche convey to us is the ultimate true, which have nothing can counter for because it’s true, eg: we will not be able to argue we are alive because of oxygen, that’s nothing to argue because it’s a truth.
Kechara is a spiritual centre that we are allow to ask question or have doubts, and it will give us answers that you and I might have for a long long time. I like being in Kechara it’s not because of one will gain magical power / clairvoyance after one anticipated after a few pujas. It’s because in Kechara, Tsem Rinpoche promote education, understanding of a religion belief, which is an universal teaching that suit everyone. We need not to be a Buddhist to follow the Buddha teaching because the 84000 teaching from Buddha Shakyamuni is not only for his students but anyone in this world.
Please join us locally or follow Tsem Rinpoche’s blog from wherever you are, I’m 100% confidence that you will be able to pick up new knowledge or idea about what’s life all about.
Thanks
Bryan
Although I do not understand Chinese, I do know Bryan personally. I knew him before he became a staff of Rinpoche’s Private Office and I know him now and along the way, it is uncanny how Bryan has gone from an ordinary person to a living proof of what the Dharma can do when we co-operate with the Guru as he removes our obscurations so that the Dharma can shine through from within.
Looking at the video and how intensely the audience is listening to Bryan we know that Bryan is very engaging. At the same time he is approachable and yet confident in the way he speaks. His body language is already very similar to that of a Pastor. Even in the regular debates at the Ladrang, Bryan displays much more knowledge than someone who has been in Dharma for only a few years. I guess it is easy to give Dharma talks when one is deeply passionate about the subject matter, has very little ego about how he is perceived and only wants to share valuable knowledge with the audience to benefit them.
Bryan is one of the kindest and most caring person I’ve ever met, and he has a talent for talking and catching your attention hehe.
It’s great to see Bryan sharing his experience and using his PR skills to educate people about Dharma. Looking forward to see more talks by Bryan in Kechara in the future.
I am so happy to hear this news… Bryan will be helping so many people. Much love and the best wishes for Bryan’s happiness, comfort and peace. Thanks, Seth.
Though I don’t understand Mandarin, I can feel the warmth and sincerity in Bryan’s voice and the friendly manner Bryan interacts with the attendees. Bryan is knowledgeable in Dharma and he is a good student to Rinpoche. Recently, he dropped by Kechara Paradise 1Utama to get a gift to offer to Rinpoche and postponed getting an item for himself. His image has matured positively and the first time I met him he had this fringe hairstyle. Bryan will make a good Pastor and I wish him all the best.
Bryan really has come a long fabulous way and has evolved from a loud, zainy, fashionista, make up expert to a Dharma brother with so much knowledge to share, show much Guru devotion exemplified and so much inspiration for us all. He is not in Dharma long, just about 3 years, but yes like what Rinpoche said… “he has the RIGHT ATTITUDE to succeed in helping others”.
I am beginning to love Bryan more and more each day because of his focus and devotion… not matter what troubles him, he never complains or brings it to us, his team… it is almost like he has no problems. Instead he used his negative experiences to fuel and challenge himself to be better, to work harder and to focus what is priority. I am impressed… something older senior students have not even mastered, he has in just less then 3 years. Now He is liaise with monasteries for Rinpoche’s works. Amazing!
Bryan also never fails to crack a stupid joke, if he sees someone with “black face” and makes them laugh… yes he has his flaws, so do all of us, but his positive qualities are more, I see more because look who he is helping… he is really an inspiring Dharma brother & good looking too hahaha… Love Bryan baby bro and I thank you for all you have done and still doing… keep up your practice! xo
wish it had english subtitles.
