Sarah joins the Blog Team full time!
Dear students and friends,
I would like to share with you yet another wonderful news. One of my students, who has been volunteering in the Ladrang for the past 1.5 years has finally joined in Kechara full-time!
Congratulations to Sarah for joining our Dharma family and making spiritual practice the center of her life. I wish her the best in her Dharma career.
Tsem Rinpoche
(Note: Written by the Ladrang)
Sarah recently earned her Bachelor of Pharmacy with first class honours from La Trobe University, in collaboration with a local college Asean Metropolitan University College. Unlike most BPharm graduates, Sarah chose Dharma work over being a Pharmacist or completing her PhD in Pharmaceutical R&D in Australia, by joining Kechara full time!
Ever since Sarah was young, she remembers being very interested in religious practices. Her desire to know more about religious practice intensified before entering college, as she thought to herself, “Where will all this lead to in the end?” It was at this time when Sarah researched and began intensive readings on several religions on her own time. This was intended to discover her true self. After 8 years of searching for an English Dharma centre that she can call her spiritual home, she accidentally stumbled upon Kechara’s doorstep at KPSP in 2009.
From the moment Sarah met Kechara, she immediately involved herself casually in the centre’s activities by attending Sunday classes, volunteering in events and also joining KSK rounds. In December 2010, an opportunity to volunteer for H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche’s Ladrang came along through the recommendation of Liaison Ooi Beng Kooi and Jean Mei. Sarah revealed that it is through volunteering for website/blog research that she learned so much about Dharma; and because it has helped her so many ways, she wished to be part of the Ladrang full-time as she understands how much positive impact her Guru’s website/blog has on many people’s lives across the country and around the world.
Besides volunteering for the Ladrang while studying for her degree, Sarah developed a certain liking for research which earned her a distinction in her research paper. Although she admits that she sometimes dreads the long hours at the laboratory, she enjoys the challenges and the satisfaction of solving the ‘puzzle’. With much passion for research, along with a few of her friends, they submitted a research proposal and successfully secured RM60,000 in funds for her college’s research fund.
Sarah describes herself as a simple person, except for her obsession for a yearly re-run of Star Trek Voyage Home and Fight Club on new year’s eve. Besides that, she find herself pretty normal! As a whole, she found life to be interesting but empty. However since she met the Dharma and her Guru, Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, Sarah feels that she has finally found the purpose in life. This is something that she has always been looking for.
In 2005, Sarah graduated from the Royal College of Medicine in Ipoh, Perak; earning the Dean’s Award for her Diploma studies.
