Snow White and Kecharians!
Dear friends,
On Thursday night, 31/05/2012, I took a group of 44 students of mine to watch Snow White and the Huntsman at the theater! It was a fun night out with hardworking Kecharians who work tirelessly to bring Dharma to many people, and a group of kids who are on their school break.
After the movie, we went over to Kechara Oasis for some delicious dinner. We were talking about the movie over dinner, and it seems that all of us really enjoyed the movie! I’m not going to give any spoilers here… but I will say that Snow White and the Huntsman is a must watch movie this season. I’m not really a fan of Charlize Theron, but after watching her play the role of the dark Queen in this movie, I was so amazed. She managed to bring out so much of the Queen’s character… through her body language, her subtle facial expressions… just by looking at her eyes she manages to say a lot. Great, great acting. I like so many more parts of the movie, but I will not reveal too much hehe
Looking at how the actors brought out the characters in this movie reminded me of when I was inspired to become an actor. If I did become an actor, I would like to play dark roles. I like actors who convey their emotions through subtle changes in their facial expressions… actors who act with their eyes.
At dinner, I also gave a very short Dharma talk about Vajrayogini‘s practice to these group of students. I sincerely wish that my students will one day receive Vajrayogini’s practice, so that her holy lineage will continue in this region. Everyone listened closely as I explained briefly about her practice… it’s a good sign that everyone was attentive, as it meant that everyone in the room was here for only one reason, Dharma…
It was a great night out as everyone enjoyed themselves very much. I enjoy spending quality time with our Dharma family in Kechara. Many of us have tight daily schedules, so it’s wonderful to meet up occasionally to spend time with each other, have a few laughs and to share the Dharma.
Tsem Rinpoche
Waiting for our dindin at Kechara Oasis. The kids are on their school holidays now… I love taking them out during their holidays and it’s good for them to spend their free time with their Dharma brothers and sisters.
Edward (right) wondering if he can start with the appetizer already hehe.
Everyone enjoying dinner at Kechara Oasis! Including the Ladrang chef, Levi! (far right)
I haven’t seen Datuk May (President of our temple. Kechara House; lady in white) for almost 3 weeks now because she has been busy with Kechara Forest Retreat. It was good to see her yesterday!
Going around playing host!
Talking to Wendy Loh, she is the newest addition to Kechara’s publishing arm.
I have heard a lot of good things about Wendy from her boss, Li Kim. She’s hardworking, trouble-free, doesn’t complain and does her work with enthusiasm. A great attitude for her Dharma career! I’m looking forward to see many great things from Wendy.
Sharing session from Joey Wong… I have known Joey for many years. He is an intelligent young man with much potential to be a great Dharma teacher in the future…He has to realize this.
The kiddies all got a huge hug before going home! I love spending time with them to instill a little Dharma while they are still young. These children will one day grow up to be very caring individuals…
I wish for all my students to be happy, always.

Yes this was a really great night!!!!
The movie was a really nice one.
It is so surprising that such a small group of people can defeat one wicked Queen.
Rinpoche will always be kind to everyone no matter what condition.
Thank you Rinpoche for that outing it was a fun night.
That was truly amazing, i am recommenting on this because i feel like having a good flashback and it is a good one! I will never forget that night, just being there with Rinpoche was amazing. It was just amazing.
Haha, i actually remembered this night. We had a blast! First we started by watching a nice movie, which was really good actually. I really enjoyed the movie, then after that, Rinpoche had taken us for a very nice Vegetarian dinner at Kechara Oasis. We had good food and a very good time with Rinpoche. Thank you Rinpoche, for sharing our wonderful experience. It reallyt brought back some good memories.
The movie title sounds interesting. The classic snow white and seven dwarfs story become a modern day snow white and the huntsman. Thank you Rinpoche for showing pictures of those who have worked hard and produced results. Some I have known them and they worked tirelessly for Dharma to benefit everyone by bringing Dharma to everyone everywhere. Everyone is at somewhere at one point in their lives. Because of Dharma some of us have found a purpose to do in life besides living as it is.
学佛不一定是个大闷蛋。 可以很轻松、有活力与有一以为。
就让仁波切与我们这一群学生证明给大家看。
Tsem Rinpoche always take every opportunity to teach Dharma, whether it is by words or by his action, he will never relax for a second for not teaching.
Rinpoche always spend his money for his students and friends, especially the hardworking Kecharian, he always spend everything of his for others and never for himself.
Rinpoche organized the movie outing is for people to get together, work hard and play hard.
Rinpoche’s care and generousity comes in various form, and anytime. Thank you Rinpoche for being such great example.
Rinpoche is always caring and thinking of the welfare of his students and friends. Even an outing can turned into a dharma sharing filled with laughter and fun. What an exciting way to learn the dharma.
Rejoice for the kids and all Kecharian, u all deserve for it.
Thanks Rinpoche for always being so kind to all Kecharians and kids. May all Kecharians always bless by 3 jewels, and able to learn more and practice more hence to help Rinpoche fulfill all Rinpoche wishes…
Dear Rinpoche, I had a lots of fun on that special day. I will never forget about that day. Thank you Rinpoche for bringing me and my friends to watch the movie, I like the movie very much. The special part that touches me is after Cinderella killed the evil stepmother/queen, she cried for her even thought she should be dead.
I like this post very much, because I get to see, as always, how Rinpoche’s engaged compassion works. Whether Rinpoche is commenting on Joey Wong’s potential as a Dharma teacher or the potential of the kids, who are being nurtured with Dharma by Rinpoche from such a young age, it is always evident that Rinpoche’s compassion goes beyond the present, to planting seeds in them all to realize their potential in the near or distant future.
Thank you Rinpoche. I suddenly realize that you have planted many seeds in me, for which I must create the causes to open up in this lifetime, which is already ebbing away.
Looks so fun! You guys must’ve had such a blast watching the movie together and later having such a great vegetarian feast. I can’t believe it was all 44 people of you, kecharians must’ve taken up half the cinema hall haha. I have yet to see this movie, i havent gotten the time. The children are really blessed and everyone is so lucky spending such a fun time with His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche.
That’s what Rinpoche has been doing for his students for many years now. He does his best to ensure that his students have everything from the Dharma all the way down to having a time out in order to watch a movie with his students. He spends a lot on his students, to provide them with whatever they need. That has been the hallmark of Rinpoche, his generosity and care towards his students and people who work closely with the departments in the organization.
Care is the key in Kechara organization and that’s what Rinpoche always try to foster in his students so that we learn to care for others more than just ourselves. That’s one of the principles of Buddhism, which is to care for others above ourselves.
Dear Rinpoche,
Thank you so much for believing in me and to remind me of my potential. It reminded me of how much more I need to go so that I can bring benefit to others. Even though I have been a repeated disappointment so many times, Rinpoche has not given up on me and because of that, I will not give up either. It is all due to Rinpoche’s kindness that I have grown from a low EQ awkward kid to someone who can actually converse with people.
I am very touched that Rinpoche still has faith in me after everything.
Thank you, with much humility…
Rinpoche is doing dharma non stop 24 x 7. Whether talking, eating, playing all actions are to benefit the beings around him. And yes Charlize Theron stole the show from SNOW WHITE! Lots of fairytales getting a new lease of lease plus new interpretation!
hehehe…. That night was a very very fun night indeed!
Not only did we watch Snow White but the food in Kechara Oasis was very delicious.
The movie it’s self was great because there was a great combination of hunting as well as at times where not trying to kill a beast is an action of more sense of peace rather than trying to kill it.
After the movie came the biggest surprise as I really thought we were going home already when Rinpoche gathered all of us together and all of us were told that we were going to Kechara Oasis to have supper and the last one there would be teased through out the whole night….
All in all it was a were fun and great night out with Rinpoche and It was definitely night to forget.
Thank you Rinpoche for always showing your kindness in many way to all of us!!!!
Through the photo, can sure this is a fun and happening night…all kids are very happy see through their face…Is so true to let kids get in touch with dharma early as they will growing up with good attitude and good person..rejoice for them…. Thanks Rinpoche for sharing this series of photo, so warm on this family…and so attract with the description of movie -Snow White and the Huntsman …ok….must see..hehehe…I’m movie addict….wohooo^^
How fortunate to be able to meet the Dharma and Rinpoche at a young age. Rinpoche is always so kind to bring Dharma to us in different ways.
KP team and I had the good fortune to be treated to movies by Rinpoche quite a few times already. Hehe although we did not watch it with Rinpoche, the blessings of our Lama is there. Hehe!
When Rinpoche ended the post with ‘I wish for all my students to be happy always’, really touched my heart.. Our Lama’s kindness and love truly leaves me speechless..
Thank you Rinpoche for always thinking of us monsters..
Dharma can be with us every second without leaving us. Having dinner can become Dharma like rinpoche has showed us. Dharma can be applied in our daily life 24 hours a day. Rinpoche always uses skillful means to guide all his students with much care and love. Hang out with all his students for watching movie or having dinner and so forth. He will give us precious Dharma teaching when he has the opportunity to do so. So it’s very bless and blissful to be able always hang around with a qualified Mahayana teacher, its making our life meaningful.
Thank You Rinpoche for always care of us ( Students and Friends ), even those i am not in the group, but can feel Rinpoche Love and Care from the picture. Much Appreciated Rinpoche Love and Care.
Best Regards : Eric kksiow
Going through the pictures, I see all happy faces. I am sure the children (young and old alike) enjoyed the evening of movie and dindin.
This is another way of Rinpoche showering us with his love and care.
I am very sure that night was a fun night! Everyone seems to be smiling and enjoying their dinner. I am very happy for you all. Rinpoche is always caring and thinking of His students, making sure that they enjoy themselves. Rinpoche also treat other departments for movies, dinner and also gifts from time to time. Thank you so much Rinpoche for always making sure we are well taken care of!
Rinpoche is always very kind to bring light hearted moments to the Dharma students and kids, but somehow Rinpoche always makes every activity a Dharma one because of the qualities, such as care and generosity, which Rinpoche exhibits and encourages in all his students. Thank you Rinpoche for always caring for all of us.
that night was spactacular!!!! i got to see a creative movie with good actors and i got to be there with Rinpoche, thats what i call a home run! that night was fun and Kechara Oasis dinner was delicious. when we went home i was tired so when i went to bed i had a dream of the movie, when i woke up i felt like i just relived that night twice, serious decha voo.
It was a really fun night going out with Rinpoche and my friends. I enjoyed myself a lot, I believe everyone did. I really love watching ‘Snow White and The Huntsman’, it’s very different.
It was a super fun night! Thank You for having us Rinpoche.
Love, beatrix.
That day was an amazing day with Rinpoche. I really enjoyed the movie as it was an interesting twist on the childhood story and the actors were very well acted even though Kristen Stewart still had a stone-face expression as she does with all her movies. The evil queen was played extremely well! Thank you so much for the day out, Rinpoche!
