Malacca Study Group
In early 2009, my long-time student and friend, Adeline Tan, started a study group in Malacca. She opened her house for anyone who wanted to study dharma….at that time the core group only had 5-6 people! Mr Ngeow used to travel from Kuala Lumpur to Malacca every month to hold lam rim classes. Unfortunately for Adeline, 2 months after starting the study group, she was admitted to hospital for chemotherapy to treat her cancer. Despite her illness, the study group continued on as usual..
10 months later, one of the study group members’..Dr Lim Huay Ling, kindly offered the lot above her clinic as a center!! Now a regular group of 20 people attend the lam rim class. It’s held once every fortnightly. Mr Ngeow and Thierry (one of my students) travel to Malacca, on rotation, to teach the lamrim and to share their dharma knowledge…how nice of them.
Mr Ngeow really puts in the effort to spread the dharma..even if it means traveling to different states! He does this all while overseeing the new gompa renovation! He’s a very hardworking man.
Yesterday, for the first time, both Thierry and Mr Ngeow couldn’t make the class…so Adeline Tan took over!! She led the recitation of Guru Yoga and shared with others how to do prostrations, recite mantras and helped to answer some questions..how fun!! I’m so happy to hear that she did this hehe
Adeline is still recovering from cancer, but really puts all of her energy into making the dharma grow in her area. She helps to maintain the center there and regularly comes down to Kechara House in KL to volunteer where she can. She is very dedicated to the dharma!!
She sent a photo of the study group in Malacca (below)…reminds me of when Kechara House in KL first started.
I pray Adeline lives long as I’ve known her since 1992 when we met for the first time. She has visited the Monastery, Nepal, Bodhgaya with me. She loves dharma very much. She is very loyal and stuck with me all these years. I must say, I admire here for her loyalty. She is really a one teacher type of person.
I pray the Melaka study group takes their fledgling place seriously and go all the way with it to develop into something big and beneficial to serve the people of that area.

How can I afford not to attend the dharma class when Thierry and Mr. Ngeow have gone the extra miles to come down to Melaka on Sunday, most probably the only day that both of them get to rest after week of hard work, to teach us the truth that help to set us free? 🙂
When Mr. Ngeow came down to malacca center 2 weeks ago, he said that one of his eyesight has yet to recover. We were so touched by his enthusiasm and commitment to spread dharma. Same goes for Thierry, who is very consistent in his effort to spread dharma over the past few months.
If I were not to make an effort to do my best to attend the dharma classes, then I would only have myself to blame if I were deprived the opportunities to practice dharma in future lives.
Many thanks to Mr. Thierry and Mr. Ngeow for your commitments to spread dharma in Melaka. Thank you!

Yes, it is always very challenging to be the first to do anything. Thanks to the efforts and perseverance of Adeline, Dr Lim and his wife , folks in Malacca have an opportunity to maintain connection with Rinpoche,Lama Tsongkapa’s teachings and tradition and our KH organisation via the Study centre.
May the centre flourish to benefit more and create the cause for Rinpoche to give teachings there.
It’s very INSPIRING, the EFFORT, COMMITMENT and SACRIFICE of you WONDERFUL people, in learning and spreading Dharma! i learn so much from you all.
