Two Holy Places in Yunnan, China | 中国云南省的两个新圣地
Recently, we have received the good news that two holy places are being built in Yunnan province, China. The first is a Dorje Shugden stupa in the Jade Dragon (Yulong) Snow Mountain area and the second is the rebuilding of Chosang Temple in Shangri-la.
I am pleased to be able to share this news with you, so that everyone can rejoice in the growth of Dorje Shugden’s practice around the world.

Yunnan Province
Yunnan is a province in the People’s Republic of China, located in the far south-western region of the country. The province borders Guangxi and Guizhou to the east, Sichuan to the north, and the Tibet Autonomous Region to the north-west.
Dorje Shugden Stupa, Jade Dragon (Yulong) Snow Mountain
Jade Dragon (Yulong) Snow Mountain is located in Lijiang City, Yunnan Yulong Naxi Autonomous County, in the south of China. The Yulong Snow Mountain Scenic Area is one of China’s 5A category tourist attractions.
We received news that since 2015, work has been underway to construct a Dorje Shugden stupa (gyalchen tendoe) amidst the beautiful and sacred snow-capped mountains. The main section of the stupa has now been completed and can accommodate hundreds of people.
Recently, two famous lamas in China who are building this stupa, Pelzang Rinpoche and Khedrup Rinpoche, consecrated the stupa and also performed a prayer ceremony there.
The stupa, including all the interior decorations, will be completed this year and thereafter will be open to the public to visit and worship. As you can see from the pictures below, the stupa is actually a standalone building.
The purpose of building this Dorje Shugden stupa is to bless all who visit these snow-capped mountains. Yulong Snow Mountain is a famous scenic area in Yunnan, and has a continuous stream of tourists. As such, it is a testament of Khedrup Rinpoche’s compassion and his strong belief that the Dharma Protector benefits many people.
Chosang Temple, Shangri-la
After a fire in 2007, Chosang Temple was finally rebuilt on a hilltop in Dongwang township in Shangri-la, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan, through the efforts of Khedrup Rinpoche and his disciples.
Chosang Temple was first built during the Yuan Dynasty (1260 AD) and was a temple of the Naxi-Dongba people. It became a Kagyu monastery in 1574, when the Kagyu school was influential, and was renamed Kata Gonggen Monastery. When His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama and the Mongolians established Gaden Phodrang in 1674, the monastery was put under the care of Gaden Sumtseling. It was then renamed a ‘ritroe’, meaning meditation hermitage.
In 1738, during the reign of His Holiness the 7th Dalai Lama, Buddhism was degenerating in the area and the monastery was in a state of disrepair. The local people thus wrote a letter to the Dalai Lama hoping to restore the monastery.
The 7th Dalai Lama designated Geshe Marang, a scholar who had achieved the highest rank in his Geshe examinations, to be the abbot of Chosang Temple. Geshe Marang (1718 – 1761) was none other than the first incarnation in the lineage of Khedrup Rinpoches. This abbot presided over the reconstruction of the temple in order to restore Buddhism in the area and renamed it Gandan Chokyi Sangbu Ling, also known as Chosang Temple.
The Buddha statues housed in Chosang Temple include a 4-meter-tall Lama Tsongkhapa statue, a 3-meter-tall Lama Tsongkhapa statue with his heart disciples Gyaltsab Je and Khedrup Je, as well as statues of Maitreya – the future Buddha, Medicine Buddha, Shakyamuni Buddha, Green Tara, Amitabha, wealth deities and Dorje Shugden.
We would like to pay our respects to these great masters who are committed to spreading Dorje Shugden’s practice and we pray that his practice spreads in the ten directions in order to benefit countless sentient beings.
About Khedrup Rinpoche
A few years ago, the compassionate Khedrup Rinpoche realised the challenges faced by lay practitioners in China who wanted to learn the Dharma.
Thus, he made a wish to establish a centre where the public could learn the art of thangka painting without distractions, and where accommodation and food would be provided free of charge.
Located in the beautiful Yulong Snow Mountain is the Lijiang Ju Shi Lin centre. Personally designed by Khedrup Rinpoche, the building of the centre started in October 16, 2014 and with the efforts of Khedrup Rinpoche as well as Dharma brothers and sisters, Lijiang Ju Shi Lin centre was finally completed on June 1, 2015.
Khedrup Rinpoche works very hard to propagate the Buddhadharma in the Yunnan area and gives extensive Dharma teachings and blessings.
Rinpoche was also invited to speak about Buddhism and art to a group of university students from Hong Kong at the invitation of the Shangri-La Thangka Centre.

Dear friends,
Tibet has produced many powerful meditations, rituals and guidelines to help us gain spiritual protection, gain wisdom and higher states of consciousness. In general Tibet has produced many powerful methods for the growth of our spiritual evolution. Dorje Shugden is an angel, a saint, a powerful spiritual protector-warrior who originated 350 years ago when a highly awakened Tibetan Lama fulfilled his vows to become a special being to grant protection, wisdom, material needs, safety when travelling (normal and astral travel) and spiritual awakening. Both the Great 5th Dalai Lama and the current His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama composed short yet effective prayers to invoke upon the power and blessings of this special saint and protector. One can recite either one of the prayers that you feel suits you, anytime or even daily. When you feel a special need for help, you can recite either prayer anytime. When you are feeling down, afraid or just need a blessing, you can recite them. After reciting either invocation, it is good to chant the mantra of Dorje Shugden: Om Benza Wiki Bitana Soha.
You do not have to be a Buddhist or practitioner of any religion to invoke upon the blessings and protection of this special enlightened and awakened angel Dorje Shugden. He helps all without discrimination or bias as he is filled with compassion and love. Divinity has no boundaries, they help all who call upon them.
Enclosed are the prayers in English, Chinese and Tibetan.
May you be safe, protected and blessed.

Divination (‘mo’) Text by Dorje Shugden
This is an important divination (‘mo’) text composed by Dorje Shugden himself. Dorje Shugden took trance of the Choyang Dulzin oracle lama, the senior oracle of Gaden Shartse Monastery, and instantly on the spot composed this text within two hours.
The divination text contains information on how to use dice to do divination for the future and is known to be highly accurate. When practitioners use this text, they will be in direct contact with Dorje Shugden to get answers to questions about the future. It is for those who have good samaya with Dorje Shugden and are free of the eight worldly dharmas to be of benefit to others in divining the future.

For the first time available, Dorje Shugden and his entourage of 32 asssistants of his mandala.
Dorje Shugden is a powerful protector deity who is also an emanation of Manjushri, a wisdom bestowing Buddha. Therefore, he has great ability to help us to progress further on the spiritual path. He does this by helping us to overcome obstacles and problems for the modern individual.
Due to his enlightened nature, Dorje Shugden is able to manifest 32 deities and within the same abode resides Setrap and Kache Marpo:-
1. 5 Dorje Shugden families or emanations. They consists of the following:-
– Dulzin Dorje Shugden, which performs activities to eliminate inner and outer obstacles.
– Shize, which performs activities to pacify all illnesses and disease.
– Gyenze, which performs activities to increase all desirable material and spiritual wealth.
– Wangze, which performs activities to control difficult people and circumstances.
– Trakze, which performs activities to wrathfully eliminate all insurmountable obstacles and life-threatening situations.
2. 9 Mothers. They represent protection of the five senses and developing control of the four elements. These are all attributes that signify their ability to assist tantric practitioners with their higher meditations.
3. 8 Guiding Monks. They represent the Eight Great Bodhisattvas (Avalokitesvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Samantabhadra, Maitreya, Kshitigarbha, Akashagarbha, Sarva-nivarana-viskambini) and they bring about the growth of the Dharma, through the Sangha, Dharma practitioners and Dharma establishments.
4. 10 Youthful & Wrathful Attendants. They represent the ten wrathful attendants to avert inner and outer obstacles. They are beings who are from Mongolia, China, Kashmir, India, Bengali, etc.
5. Setrap. He is a senior Dharma Protector from India and an emanation of Amitabha Buddha. He had enthroned Dorje Shugden as an authentic Dharma Protector. Therefore, he also resides within the same mandala of Dorje Shugden.
6. Kache Marpo. He is not an emanation of Dorje Shugden but he is still an enlightened Dharma Protector in his own right. He was originally known as Tsiu Marpo of Samye Monastery. However, he has placed himself under the service of Dorje Shugden as his chief minister, performing many activities in order to protect and benefit practitioners. Therefore, he stands guard at the main entrance of Dorje Shugden’s mandala. He often takes trance of qualified mediums to speak.
7. Namkar Barzin. He is the reincarnation of an old Mongolian monk and when he passed away in Phari area of Tibet, his spirit was placed as a powerful assistant of Dorje Shugden. He guards and protects buildings and great institutions especially those that benefit others. He rides on a mythical Gyaling animal that resembles a goat but with scales.
These sacred images are available on *Vajrasecrets. They are made of high quality alloy and are one of a kind. They are based on the lineage of His Holiness Panchen Rinpoche’s monastery, Tashilhunpo in Shigatse, Tibet. In fact, the iconography of these statues are based on detailed photographs taken by H. E. Tsem Rinpoche during a trip to Tashilhunpo’s protector chapel. These are based exactly as the 10th Panchen Lama’s personal collection.

His Holiness the 10th Panchen Lama
Tibetans commonly refer to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama as the “sun and moon” of Tibetan Buddhism. They are the center of Tibetan Buddhist civilization, which draws to its sphere of influence millions of non-Tibetan practitioners. The Panchen Lama’s incarnation line began with the 16th abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen (1570 – 1662). He was bestowed the title of Panchen Lama by His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama after being declared as an emanation of Amitabha.
After being given the title, his three previous incarnations were posthumously also bestowed the title, making Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen the 4th Panchen Lama. He became a teacher to many Tibetans, Bhutanese and Mongolian religious figures, including His Holiness the 4th and 5th Dalai Lamas, and the 1st Jetsun Dampa of Mongolia. A prolific author, Chokyi Gyeltsen is credited with over a hundred compositions, including a number of commentaries and ritual texts that remain central in the Gelukpa tradition today. Along with his role as a teacher of the Dharma, the Panchen Lamas are usually responsible for the recognition of the rebirths of the Dalai Lamas, and vice versa.
The 10th Panchen Lama, Lobsang Trinley Lhundrub Chokyi Gyeltsen (19 February 1938 – 28 January 1989) continued both the spiritual and political roles of his predecessors. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, his contemporary, was even heard to say and echo the Panchen Lama’s own words that the Dalai Lama would safeguard Tibet from the outside while the Panchen Lama would safeguard Tibet from the inside, as he never left Tibet after the political troubles of 1959. He was truly loved by the Tibetans, all the way until his passing. When he taught, thousands of people would attend, not only from his own Gelug lineage, but masters and practitioners from all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.
At his sprawling monastery of Tashi Lhunpo, he has a special chapel specifically dedicated to Dorje Shugden, where prayers and rituals are performed on a daily basis. In his great omniscience the Panchen Lama held Dorje Shugden as the principal Dharma protector of the monastery. He also personally propitiated Dorje Shugden among other Dharma protectors, and even wrote extensive prayers and rituals to Dorje Shugden. These rituals and prayers are contained within his ‘sung bum’ or collected works, which are provided here. As such a great lama, with an erudite and clear understanding of the Buddhist scriptures, a teacher to millions in both Tibet and China, from an established incarnation line and an emanation of the Buddha Amitabha, he could not be mistaken about his practice of Dorje Shugden.
His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama is known for his composition of commentaries and practice texts that are still in use by contemporary Buddhist practitioners both in Tibet and across the world. One of these is a powerful ritual composition propitiating the compassionate Dorje Shugden.
Upon the request by Acharya Lobsang Jangchub to compose a shorter version of the prayer (sadhana) for the exhortation of activities of Dorje Shugden, Panchen Lama immediately composed an abbreviate form of Dorje Shugden’s Kangsol. This text is entitled “Manjunatha’s (Tsongkapa) Lineage protector Dorje Shugden and five forms wrathful propitiations and confessional prayers and fulfilment of activities rites” or “Melodious sound of Accomplishment of the Four Activities” for short. Once the prayers were completed, he had signs and strong feelings that Dorje Shugden has been working hard to protect the Buddhadharma in general and the lineage of Lama Tsongkhapa specifically.
Mirroring the abilities of one of his earlier incarnations, Khedrub Je, a disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa and master of both sutra and tantra, the Panchen Lama used his compositional skill and poetic prowess to create a masterful sadhana. Worthy of note is a praise in which the first letter of each verse is a Tibetan vowel. Such compositions are rarely seen, and have historically only been used when propitiating senior Dharma protectors such as Palden Lhamo and Kalarupa.
The Panchen Lama also stated that while composing the Dorje Shugden sadhana (prayers) he was filled with a sense of happiness and bliss. He ends the composition with not only his official title but his ordination name, Tenzin Trinley Jigme Choje Wangchuk, endorsing the validity of his work. He composed the sadhana in his own Tashi Lhunpo monastery while in the Hall of Clear Light and Bliss.

This elderly & innocent monk in India was brutally attacked, find out why. Shocking – https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/?p=163953
“If the Dalai Lama, if His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by Dorje Shugden, then we might as well not practice Buddhism anymore. If His Holiness the Dalai Lama can have his life shortened by a so-called evil spirit, any evil spirit, then can he be Avalokiteshvara? So on one hand you say, we say, I say, everybody says, he is Avalokiteshvara; on the other hand you’re saying that he can be harmed by an evil spirit… Which one is it? Can he be harmed by an evil spirit or is he Avalokiteshvara? Do you think Avalokiteshvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Tara all take refuge in something else to protect themselves from Dorje Shugden? How illogical is that? How illogical of people to say His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by an evil spirit, any evil spirit or “Dorje Shugden” evil spirit. How is that possible?” – Tsem Tulku Rinpoche

Rejoice to learn about the construction of a Dorje Shugden stupa in the most scenic area of Yunan, China as well as the rebuilding of Choosing Temple in Shangri-la. This is a fabulous sign that Beijing and the people of China support the growth of Buddhism and the propitiation of Dorje Shugden. May Buddhism continue to grow in China.

This video condensed and made simple the history of the Dorje Shugden ban and the sufferings Dorje Shugden people experienced and continue to experience for 20 years. The video also laid out and reveal the truth and facts that Dorje Shugden was the Protector who advised His Holiness the Dalai Lama to flee to India and hence His Holiness’ life is saved. There is no religious freedom for the Dorje Shugden people worldwide because of the Dorje Shugden ban executed by the Central Tibetan Administration. We are, until today being discriminated and persecuted for simply practising our choice of religion and this is the truth.

Rejoice for the people who stays in Yunnan China and Shangri-la that they are able to visit these 2 holy places. We are so fortunate to be able to see the pictures even though not able to be there physically. With more Dorje Shugden monastery, many people in China are able to learn and practise this beneficial and profound teaching.
Wonderful and rejoicing news that two holy places have been constructed in Yunnan. Two great Gelug Lamas, Khedrup Rinpoche and Pelzang Rinpoche , had worked tirelessly on the construction of Dorje Shugden stupa in Jade Dragon (Yulong) Snow Mountain and restoration of Chosang Temple on a hilltop in Dongwang, Shangri-la . This clearly shows that the Dharma, Je Tsongkhapa’s lineage teachings and practice and the practice of Dorje Shugden are definitely spreading and growing in Yunnnan and in China!
Khedrup Rinpoche is the current incarnation of the lineage of Khedrup Rinpoche, whose first incarnation had been appointed to be abbot of the first Chosang Temple by the 7th Dalai Lama. He has worked strenuously to spread the Dharma and bring it to the people in these remote parts. How wonderful!
So nice to read about Gelug Lamas are actively promoting Dorje Shugden and Tsongkhapa teachings. Yunnan is truly fortunate to have man Gelug lamas who are working hard to proliferate the teachings.
In this part of Yunnan it is a stronghold for Dorje Shugden practice. I rejoice that they are building 2 holy places to propagate Dorje Shugden practice to the lay people.
The scenery here is breathtaking and beautiful. I wish to go back to visit this part of Yunnan again some day.
Thank You Rinpoche for sharing this wonderful news; two new holy places built in Yunnan. It clearly showed that world famous Dorje Shugden praying has been spread to China. I have been staying in China for 2.5 years, I understand that Chinese really need Dharma to help them. I strongly believe Dorje Shugden will help to bring or restore Dharma in China.
I truly admire the commitment of Khedrup Rinpoche, the commitment He has been carrying for almost 400 years from 7th Dalai Lama to restore Chosang Temple. It proved again the high attained Lamas take their Guru’s instruction by heart even for so many life times. It sounds familiar to me that how my Guru, H.E.Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, take H.H.Zong Rinpoche’s instruction so seriously and continue His commitment even Zong Rinpoche has entered into clear light.
Hence, I sincerely beg H.H. Dalai Lama with folded hands to lift the ban of Dorje Shugden as we can not give up this praying as this practice has been passed down by our Guru to us.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing the good news of the two holy places, which are being built by two famous lamas, Pelzang Rinpoche and Khedrup Rinpoche in Yunnan, China. The construction of Dorje Shugden stupa in Jade Dragon (Yulong) Snow Mountain and restoration of Chosang Temple on a hilltop in Dongwang, Shangri-la signify the continuous growing of Buddhism practice, especially the spreading of Dorje Shugden practice in China. I truly admire the strong determination and hard work given by Pelzang Rinpoche and Khedrup Rinpoche to propagate the Buddhadharma in Yunnan area so that the people living in that area will have the opportunities to learn and practice Buddhadharma from the pure lineage of Gelugpa. During the construction of Chosang Temple, it also benefits many villagers nearby who have helped with the construction as they can accumulate merits and purify negative karma for their future Buddhadharma practice progress. Besides, these kind and generous villagers will also gain the sense of commitment and responsibility to protect the Buddhadharma practice from the current generation to the next and many more future generations. May Lama Tsongkhapa and Dorje Shugden continuously bless and protect many sentient beings through the practice of Buddhadharma until samsara ends.
Humbly with folded hands,

Very heartwarming to see the stupa of Dorje Shugden in being constructed in Lijiang City, Yunnan Yulong Naxi Autonomous County and Chosang Temple on a hilltop in Dongwang township in Shangri-la, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan, being restored.
It is through the kindness of Khedrup Rinpoche and Pelzang Rinpoche that this is possible.
Rejoice that many will benefit when they visit these tourists areas.
It is through the pure dedication of High Lamas to benefit us with the Dharma and blessings of King Protector, Dorje Shugden that temples, stupas and holy places manifest.
Rejoice and gratitude to Khedrup Rinpoche and Pelzang Rinpoche that a Dorje Shugden stupa will soon be ready in Yulong (Jade Dragon) Snow Mountain, and rebuilding of Chosang Temple, Shangri la.
It is so befitting for Dorje Shugden stupa to manifest in the beautiful and scenic region of Lijiang, Yunnan, China.
Dorje Shugden practice is growing around the world! There is a Dorje Shugden stupa located in the Jade Dragon (Yulong) Snow Mountain Scenic Area in Yunnan, where China gives the highest rate in tourist attractions. The credits go to 2 famous lamas in China, Pelzang Rinpoche and Khedrup Rinpoche who are compassion and holding strong faith to Droje Shugden practice. Many people will be connected to Dorje Shugden and received blessing whenever they visited this holy site. The stupa will be completed this year and open to the public to visit and worship.
The second is the rebuilding of Chosang Temple in Shangri-la on the hilltop in Dongwang. This is an ancient temple dated back to Yuan Dynasty(1260 AD). The temple has survived for centuries until it caught into fire in 2007. When a religious site is being rebuilt, this is significant that there is growth in spiritual practice among the community. Now the temple is rebuilding with the help from sponsors and villages. And Dorje Shugden statue were painted ready upon completion of the temple. This is an important indication that Dorje Shugden practice is growing and many people have benefited from the blessing and protections of Dorje Shugden. Rejoices ^^
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this wonderful rejoicing news of the two holy places that are going to be opened soon in the Yunnan Province -the newly built Dorje Shugden stupa in the most scenic spot of the Jade Dragon Mountains and the rebuilding of Chosang Temple in Shangri-la. These are great signs that the Dorje Shugden practice is spreading and will continue to spread everywhere. The two holy monks behind the construction of these two sacred buildings are great Masters who are known for their kindness ,Pelzang Rinpoche and Khedrup Rinpoche. Out of great compassion for the benefits of Dorje Shugden’s practice and Je Tsongkhapa’s tradition to be received by many, they embarked on this painstaking and joyful effort of building these two holy sites. Pilgrims and tourists are likely to flock to these places when they are opened to the public!
Rejoice to Khedrup Rinpoche and Pelzang Rinpoche having built a stupa and rebuilt the Chosang Temple.which was destroyed in a fire.
Dorje Shugden stupa is located in the beautiful Yulong Snow Mountain which is surrounded by lofty spruces. Its meadow and forest scenery is peaceful and beautiful, that attracts many tourist. Now is a famous scenic spot for sightseeing, mountaineering, skiing, exploration and scientific research.
And the second is the rebuilding of Chosang Temple in Shangri-la located in China’s best-preserved minority ancient town. It is famous for its ancient architecture.
